The reasons are obvious...the japa syndrome, school fees for foreign schools, heavy loan repayments for foreign loans, low productive activity that can generate forex, poor management of our mining sector etc |

Kobojunkie: I was speaking in general regarding divorce. Nothing stops a couple from reaching an agreement on the issue, signing and submitting the necessary papers, and then parting ways amicably. Divorce in and of itself is not traumatic. I agree. That's easy when the two parties are reasonable and willing to cooperate. There are couples that remain friends even after divorce but that's not the norm sadly. |
Family › Re: Is This Enough Reason To Send My Niece Back To The Village? by delpee(f): 10:35am On Sep 06, 2023 |
NaijaRealtor: 1. Right from when she was about three years old, she would always pray for me to make it so she can come stay with me.
2. Been married for like 7 years and we have 3 kids. My wife was on my neck to bring my niece to come stay with us so she can assist with helping to look after the kids once they all return from school.
3. Because I know how many ladies treat children that aren't theirs, I refused to bring my niece over. So after much pressure from my wife, I approached my sister and her husband and pleaded to allow me train her as she'd always prayed.
4. Weeks after her arrival, my wife started complaining about her attitude and stuff. I refused to yield to my wife's suggestions that I take my niece back. It almost caused quarrel between us.
I felt it was too early to judge her. She's just 12 years old.
Her Attitudes:
A. She would fold and keep pants stained with my 1 year old poop in the laundry basket until it starts bringing out maggots, then we would search the whole house for the source of the foul smell until we find it and throw away affected clothes, disinfect the house and all.
B. She, yesterday wiped my 6 years old son with iron buckle on the belt and his head nearly burst open. He complained of severe headache and we are still treating him.
C. Final straw was, while we were in the office today, my 6 years old started to throw up. He was sick. This girl just laid on the couch and instructed a 6 years old to go fetch the broom, mopping stick and packer to clean the mess.
My son was very weak, but he went to fetch these items and cleaning the vomit. Because he was very sick, he kept on throwing up and cleaning at the same time. All these while, this girl laid there relaxing until my wife came home and washed my son up and cleaned the floor.
When I came back this evening and learnt about the stuff, I quietly asked her why she'd behaved like that and she said it was nothing.
I really don't know whether to let her stay while I try to coach her or take her back to her parents.
I seriously need advice.
Sorry for the long epistle. Most important thing is that you should first take your son to the clinic/paediatrician for thorough investigation to nip any problems arising from her mishandling in the bud quickly. A young child's head and body are very delicate. I pray that his weakness has nothing to do with elements of torture/beating which he can't talk about. I got scared while reading your post knowing how little things become huge problems as a child grows, especially when not handled at the right time. I think you should find another solution in terms of looking after your son. Your beloved niece can't cope. |

Kobojunkiee: I don't agree with this notion of divorce at all. It all depends on the couple in question. If both agree that parting ways is the sensible way forward, then all they really need do is negotiate and sign the necessary documents to get divorced. The cumbersome only comes in when both aren't ready or trying to battle to the finish. Unfortunately, we don't know her experience and can't judge. I've seen complicated cases and the trauma that goes with it. |

COMPAQ: They should either concession or privatize it pronto!! If it remains in government hands, it will fall apart in 5years.
besides it has lost its market share to Eko Hotel convention center. The wealthy folks who can afford to use it are all in VI, Lekki, Oniru, Banana etc. They are surely not going to come to Iganmu for any ocassion. Actually, it can be put to good use. Not all wealthy folks and companies stay on the Island. Some event centres in Ikeja are as good and as expensive as those on the Island and people patronise them. Sometimes, you also find institutions organising trainings/seminars for their staff from across the nation preferring a central location for easy access and perhaps lower cost. The ambience of the place and potentially beautiful environment will certainly attract tourists and other users. It was a delightful place to be during and after FESTAC 77. It was our film viewing centre too. |

BoldBrainz: Obasanjo has never been known to be a man who loses administrative control of the structures under him. This man is over 80years old, but still lucidly runs his existing businesses and farms.
If going by this his rebuttal, a Minister had no unilateral authority to award contracts beyond the 25million naira valuation, and if he didn't give the approval for this one, then more questions should be asked and me thinks Atiku Abubakar should answer some of these questions.
After all, we all know the infamous roles Atiku has played during his days as Vice President, which have significantly impacted our electricity, negatively. Hmmm! Probably so. AA was in charge of privatisation I think...but then, did he have the power to approve without recourse to the President? |

@OP The woman isn't 100% sure that marriage with you will last and divorce is more expensive and cumbersome when it's a legal marriage. Search your mind or find out what you're doing that is showing her a red flag. Remember that she's had an experience before and will be wary of another mistake. |

Dittodat: Non-Western names are always liable to be misspelled here. I know because I’ve suffered this multiple times. Apparently, Tinubu wrote his name in long hand, as was the practice then, and whoever was responsible for entering the final records couldn’t correctly make out Tinubu’s handwriting. It’s easy to see how handwritten “I” and “N” can be mistaken for “H” and how “U” can be mistaken for “V.”
This is the point I made about a week ago, but some people who have never left their villages said I was lying. I have lived 80 percent of my life in the US and know precisely what he's talking about. My name has been misspelled in so many ways that I can't count. Instead of Atiku and Obi showing how they won the election, they are busy chasing shadows and expecting the judiciary to disqualify the winning candidate over some stupid and frivolous claims. Yes o. Same way Giannis Antetokounmpo got his name misspelled in Greece. The name is actually Adetokunbo. All they need to do is prove that they won the election. There are ways to go about that. Every other thing is yeye and tension over nothing. |
