Politics › Re: Nigeria's BUDGET 1999 - 2020. PDP N41.21trn, APC N40.17trn by DeOTR: 7:42pm On Oct 16, 2019 |
omenka: You don't get it.
Here's how to make such a comparison.
Evaluate the dollar equivalent of the monies spent under pdp with respect to the exchange rates in those years.
Take whatever dollar value you arrive at and calculate the naira equivalent with respect to the exchange rates under the APC years, then compare.
That's how you do it.
You also must factor in %age population growth. Your budget cant remain static with an increasing population. Ordinarily, the percent rise in population must correspond with the percent rise in budget. #40 trillion in 6 years is still on the high side, exchange rate and population or not. If you factor in the variables, you'd see it. |

Politics › Re: Aisha Buhari: Fatima, Mamman Daura’s Daughter Laughed, Mocked Me, Blocked Me by DeOTR: 5:05pm On Oct 15, 2019 |
BluntBoy: Not all the time.
Marriage is not as straightforward as many of you have been made to believe.
Moreover, there are some background story that we are not aware of.
Stories filtering in say Aisha disrespects her husband's family. If this were the case, then it is a big problem that you don't solve by quickly taking sides because your wife is involved.
Let me give you a scenario.
A man marries a woman. The woman does not like her husband's family because she feels they are not guiding her husband right. A good husband establishes spots in the family, not take sides. Aisha is his wife and she has her place in his heart. Maman is a family and he has his place in Buhari's heart as well. When conflicts happen between Aisha and Maman, Buhari cannot afford to take sides. Rather, he would establish a common ground for agreement or tolerance. A good husband does not break relations simply because he wants to protect his wife. Rather he mends relations.
There are instances where it is very necessary to protect your wife's interests. But what evidence do you have that Buhari has not done that? Or does not do that? Moreover, this is a family issue. Aisha is family, Maman is family too. Buhari cannot treat Maman like an outsider in matters like this.
As for Fatimah being rude to Aisha, I am not saying that it is a good thing. But things like this happen. If there are stories about wives manhandling their husbands' mothers, why are you people making a big deal out of this conflict? Why are you people always quick to hate on Buhari?
He can't control his family bla bla bla. As if it is only Buhari's family that has even ever been confronted with conflicts. If Daura has any shame or any respect for his Uncle, Aisha wouldn't have to force his family out, since there was an order from the President to vacate the said apartment. |

As inconsequential as this family feud might look, there can not be any development in Nigeria if there's no peace in the first family. What does that even say about our President? The Dauras disobeyed a direct order from the President to vacate an apartment meant for his children. No wonder his ministers disobey his order and still nothing happens. This really exposed Buhari as someone who can not even handle his his immediate family matters. How then can such person handle a very complicated entity like Nigerian? No wonder Nigeria is the way it is. |

just incase you dont know, please access BOI, BOA, CBN MSME for government pallatives "Former farmers that felt the pang of desertification". This has nothing to do with not being able to sell their produce. At the end of the day, you might find out that these guys just told the DSS what they wanted them to hear. Most of these institutions don't give loans to start-ups. And most cases, you're required to pay 2% of the amount you're requesting upfront. I mean, if the government wants the unemployed youth to go into farming, they can provide a special loan facility which will require something like your degree certificate as a collateral, in addition to other measures to ensure the loan is used for the stated purpose. I had wanted to get a loan from BOA some years back for cashew farming, but for the stringent conditions, I had to delay the venture for a year to save enough to start. |

solmusdesigns: if farmers can sell thier rice and tomatoes for a good price they have no reason to pickup guns and make "abuja or seat of power" insecure Where did you get the idea that a farmer would pick up arms because he couldn't sell his produce? I can bet you, those criminals have never been farmers for a day. Now that we agree that there's gap in rice production that needs to be filled, the right thing for the government to do is to engage and support the unemployed in states with comparative advantage in rice production, instead of trying to establish ruga across the country. But trust the government to always put the cart before the horse. |

PoliticalWitch: Well, I don't know about being the spokesman for DISCOS....I'm just the customer.
But one thing I know...once upon a time, we paid sky high prcies for GSM services....which were very poor back then, and thanks to the government not intervening,. the GSM companies made a profit...which they then invested in new equipment.
Which is why you and I can type this from home, instead of back in 2005...going to an internet cafe, and spending money for the privilege of all night browsing.
Honestly, you Nigerians. If Buhari brought in price controls for your own business...you people will complain.
If DISCOS are allowed to charge what they want....YES , we will pay high prices...but like GSM, the money will flow in and investment would rise, power generation will rise..and then prices would fall.
We generate 7000mw on a good day. Lagos as at 2010 needed 10000MW. Where are we going to get the money? Why did you people keep quiet when GEJ offered you the chance to say NO to the disco privatisation?? Why are you grumbling about it.?? Did you exepct DISCOS to be bought and run by Mother Theresa clones?? You can't compare the Telecom companies with the DISCOS. You pay as you go for GSM, but that can't be said about the DISCOS. Whether you're home or not, these guys would still bring you bills, all in the name of estimated billings. How can they claim consumers are owing them when most of these people are billed on very high estimates? Are you aware that consumers contribute to buy and maintain transformers? Do we maintain service stations for the Telecomm companies? You can't draw a parallel line between the two. The DISCOS should make prepaid meters available for all consumers, then they should hike the tariff as much as they want. These DISCOS are owned by individuals like everyone else. Nigerians are not a congregation of followers of Mother Theresa either. |
Politics › Re: FG Budgets N9bn For Generators In 2020 Budget by DeOTR: 4:04pm On Oct 13, 2019 |
PoliticalWitch: Actually there is a way...allow DISCOS to charge whatever they want to charge for power...that would be enough for them to adequately pay GENCOS..AND AGRESSIVELY meter everyone.
Also, let's be frank...those Nigerians who don't pay for power have to pay their power bills. The kind of situation where someone chasing DISCO officals with machete away from disconnecting him for not paying for the power he uses...is regarded as a hero...is wrong.(And is making things harder for those of us who do pay.). So Nigerians should be left at the mercies of the DISCOS, who if given the opportunity to increase tariff to #1million per KW, would still find excuses for their failures to provide constant power supply? Do you expect people to pay exorbitant bills for a service they never enjoyed or are you not aware most consumers are on estimated billings? Since you're the spokesperson of the DISCOS, tell them to provide prepaid meters to their customers and they can go ahead to increase their tariff. At least by then, it would be impossible to owe them. |

maasoap: The two cases are not similar in any way. Any man would think twice before acting in the case of Ambode. But in this case, even myself don't need to wait for my wife's reaction because the aide's post directly indicted the governor but not his wife. It was more about the gov himself than his wife. So, I don't see his wife manipulating him here.
Not saying the punishment wasn't too much either but the governor had given enough reason for his swift action. I don't think the man means any disrespect to the Governor since he has been out of Nigeria for weeks. He's probably seeing the Deputy Governor in the light of the Acting Governor, hence calling his wife the Acting First Lady. Termination of his appointment, to me, is a little too harsh. |

When you're trying to encourage people to do something, you don't make it harder for them. It's common sense, don't charge people on cash deposit. You can then go ahead and put a 10% charge on cash withdrawal in excess of even 300k for individuals and 1.5m for corporate organizations. That way, you're making sure monies that make their ways to the bank don't get out in Cash. But now, you're imposing a #50 stamp duty on individual PoS transaction, charging 2% on cash deposit in excess of 500k, and at the same time want to encourage people to embrace cashless transactions? It's like saying one thing, but doing the opposite. Remember, you'll still have to pay VAT on these charges? Very soon, this idiiot of a CBN Governor will direct banks to start charging people for money transfer per one thousand. |

Princedapace: Bro, first, I wasn't insulting u okay. If the question sounded impolite my apology.
Now, back to the topic. Like I said earlier, no one will see where he earns large sum and treat it anyhow. There are some countries SA won't try that shit they did to Nigerians with. Why? They know their trade deal.
SA will lose nothing much if they have a face off with Nigeria except some strategic countries are involved. I don't want to say much about international companies coming to nigeria for business more than SA. Check out the images I uploaded so far. SA has countries where they make much of their income and they can't try this shit with them. There was a document I read, I just couldn't find it. Nigeria was among the very least countries SA considers as a strategic business partner due to earning derived from Nigerian market compared to other markets where they make money. From the SA govt actions, u will notice that they are willing to let go of the little percentage they get from Nigeria. Their companies have over 90% Nigerian staff and have done several machinery investments. There are agreements entered before they could do those investments.
I also want u to check the last image about foreign direct investment. Investors are heading to SA and it will continue to be so until Nigeria's crises and poor purchasing power is worked on. I asked u a simple question, how many Nigerians earn over 3 million per year? How many Nigerians can afford new items? This is the reason black market is popular here. It is same reason second hand used items are popular. The purchasing power is weak. Canada has small population but there is a reason the economy keep growing and for those of us into online business, there is a reason ad to those countries are higher. It is purchasing power. We have poor purchasing power in Nigeria coupled with endless crises. SA will lose nothing you say? |
