If you bought the phone with your own money and your father took it off you then it's understandable that you felt violated and hurt.

I think recording laws are different depending on where she lives (country by country or state by state). Some recording laws permit recording if you’re part of the recording which means one party has given consent, some other laws require consent from all parties involved.

I mean recording and then putting it online. Also, don't forget she's a vulnerable person, and that's her carer so I think the laws are different in those circumstances. It's all unprofessional and it looks wrong to me. Unless of course her employer gave the carer permission to put her mother on the internet.

According to another video on this thread the original recording was leaked when the carer lost her phone. I guess they do things differently in whatever country this incident happened.

Where I live as a carer there are confidentiality laws in place to avoid this kind of situation. Safeguarding laws that are in place to avoid this kind of drama. You can't record a patient, and keep the recording on your personal device, it would be saved to the company's cloud or storage space. To avoid your phone being accessed and the recording exposed to none official people. This poor old woman has been violated for having her business put online for people to make judgment on her in her condition.

First of all, she's not supposed to record it. There's what we call service user confidentiality in care. This is where the image be it moving or static of the service user, what they told you their address and basically everything concerning them remains private.

Second of all, the smart thing she would have done was to call the manager and report this incident, and then document it. And ask to leave.

Let's get things straight here. A lot of these service users/client/residents are suffering from dementia. They do not understand most times what they're doing. It is unfair that she video taped her without her consent. If I were the service user child, if sue her, if I were the company she's working for, I'd sue her.


One thing is to abused and another is to still remain there to garner pity instead doing what you ought to do.

There's all sorts of laws broken here... even the way she was dealing with the situation was unprofessional. She was supposed to communicate with the old lady, and try to talk her down, not ignoring her, and allow her to get herself worked up. The recording is a violation though.

As a nigerian doctor in the US he must have worked so hard to get where he is and this tiny moment of unproffessionality would ruin it all for him.

Yeah, that's what makes me sad and I pray he gets a second chance because doctors are under a lot of pressure in these covid streets

Being a care worker is a hard job... she's recording to protect herself, because if she reacts, and does something it could be considered abusive. shouting at her or throwing a small fruit back at her could get you bared from working in the field forever and could even get you arrested, fined, and or persecuted.
