The welfare collection for the need of the church in Acts 5 and 6 was just an aspect of the need of the church emphasized there. Apparently, it's not the alpha and omega of Christian giving. The needs of the church could be anything: building needs, equipment, missionary journeys, church venue maintenance, etc. These are the needs churches have today...

Collecting offerings is different from people donating, except you can provide a scripture where Offering was called or basket passed after Jesus preached or taught. Stay with what the bible says

Now, this is something I'll agree with. What I disagreed with is calling it 'petty', especially coming from someone that has never menstruated. I believe planning it around the women's circle is the most sensible thing to do.
