Cultural or no cultural, we now live in the 21st century and everything always has a beginning.

As long as the family can acknowledge that the land was given to the son and then put everything in writing with witnesses present, it will help in the nearest future.

Make them sign an agreement that they will give it back after a certain period of time.

Even if the agreement is in writing and both parties have signed, it would still be a valid one.

If they refuse to give it back in the future, you can then take them to court.

And make sure that there are witnesses when you guys sign, in fact, they should sign too.
Written agreement might not work here, except there was written agreements when the family initially allocated the land to her son. This is completely cultural land sharing practice in Nigeria. Most times, there is no written agreement when the land are shared.

Well done madam for supporting your husband. I hope he gets his feet back soon.

Yes, he was supposed to inform you before giving out the land. But since he and the family have apologized, please forgive them. It's still a family affair.

There's nothing you can do for now than to continue to remind your husband to follow up with his kinsmen from time to time to get another plot reassigned to your son.

Same for the online feminists too. Forming online but submissive or seriously searching or hoping for a man in real life.

The way you wrote those things, one might be thinking that Nairaland is a continent or a country where Alpha male dominates....It's about time you realize that it is a faceless forum...What you read most times are just fetish from some people who wished to be what they were not offline...most of them are thick glass wearing nerds with backpacks..

OP, you too should learn to pen down a balanced right up...You have highlighted what you thing women does, from waking up in the morning to doing domestic chores... No time did it ever occurred to you that there are men out there who are committed to their family and family lifestyle...give some credit to some men while writing sometimes...It will not cost you anything if you do that..

Do not dwell only on negatives, u are not Al Jazeera....The idea of gender war write ups most of you create on forums like this is not really necessary..
Well said.

Yes, I have some flyers that shows some of the winnings and an award placards
I hope that would help with the social media pages links?
Okay. The social media pages are about the award.

You can submit printed copies of the flyers and award placards alongside the hardcopy completed I140 form. Then include all social media pages in your petition letter. Also include in your petition letter, background of the award, what body issues it, what accomplishments are required to be considered for such award, why you were nominated or considered for the award, how the final winners are selected and why the award is significant in your field.

I have received few awards and I’m sure and could also get publication from the social media handle of the companies I have partnered with.

Thanks for your response in advance
If I understand you completely, you are thinking of claiming the following criteria out of the 10.

1. Evidence of receipt of lesser nationally or internationally recognized prizes or awards for excellence

3. Evidence of published material about you in professional or major trade publications or other major media

5. Evidence of your original scientific, scholarly, artistic, athletic, or business-related contributions of major significance to the field

6. Evidence of your authorship of scholarly articles in professional or major trade publications or other major media

Is that correct ?

Now she is asking for donations through Gofundme.

As a lawyer herself, she is supposed to know she cannot take her children out of Nigeria without the acceptance of the other parent, who is their father.

If you're clearly intentional in
seeking out any woman who has emotional intelligence among your pool of female friends, then marry her when you find her, and she'll give you near-absolute peace of mind. This applies to Diasporan Nigerian woman and non-Nigerian woman.

To be the better man for any woman, a man has to learn the specifics of emotional intelligence as well then define what you want and place a value on yourself based on self-respect. Without these aspects, a man will experience punishing lessons down the road from women be they Black, White or
Brown. No doubt!

When you get to the U.S., UK, or
Canada, relate discretionarily with everyone and learn about the eclectic mix of cultures but you must socialize with discretion with
Nigerians in the Diaspora to hit the ground running.

The Indians, Chinese, Jewish, Russian, Norwegian, and Irish Diasporans help one another. Why should anyone encourage new
Nigerian immigrants not to mix with the rest of the Nigerian Diaspora? That's a knee-jerk advice.

There are bad and good Nigerians. Same with those people of different culture and mindset you are referring to. There bad and good people among them too.

Correct statement would have been "STAY AWAY FROM BAD PEOPLE AND PEOPLE THAT WILL NOT ADD VALUE TO YOUR LIFE.

But not "STAY AWAY FROM NIGERIANS".

Not speaking for all but the reason why some Nigerian marriages struggle abroad is because one or both partners refuse to let go of certain aspects of Nigerian culture that might make sense and work in Nigeria but makes no sense and doesn’t work abroad.
Not everyone willfully abandons their culture but being in a new place kills tunnel vision and people begin realizing that some things in their culture are toxic and need to be stopped.
Yes. I agree every culture has one or two areas of improvement. My point is that many black Africans ignorantly believe everything about their culture is bad and that everything foreign to their culture is better. And they will end up copying both the good and the bad of their adopted culture.

I agree your exposure to new ways of doing things in other cultures should help you to improve your culture, not to copy bad practices of the other culture.

Those things the foreign culture called toxic, are they truly toxic? What is their origin, politics or humanity?

An example, in Nigerian, Indian, Chinese and many Eastern European, Arabian cultures around the world, the man is the head of the family but in American culture, both man and woman are head of the family.

When you find immigrants from Nigeria, India, China, Eastern Europe, Arabs in America, only Nigerians will massively be debating or challenging why a man is the head in the family. I am not saying it's not happening in other immigrant communities all in the US but it's very rare.

At the end of the day, we get ourselves in this type of discussion we are having here, whereas there are better things we can start adopting or copying from the western technologies and know-how to better our race.

again, there are Nigerians everywhere on earth, and i suggest you associate with local people when abroad, rather than Nigerians.
I agree we must associate with local people but I disagree completely we should "stay away from Nigerians" as you put it.
TravelRe: Why Nigerian Ladies Should Be Avoided Abroad by Helpout12345: 11:28pm On Sep 21, 2022
I agree you must obey the laws of foreign countries so that you don't end up in Jail. But I disagree that you must forsake all your own culture and your own people to accept all the foreign culture. You can learn new better ways if it’s actually working better than your ways at home, but I bet you, everything cannot be bad about your culture that you have to completely embrace foreign culture over yours.

Only we black people make this mistake in the world. Arabs, Indians, Chinese don't do that. Even the westerners don't do it.

This issue here is mainly in the black immigrant community in western countries, where we neglect our ways the moments we land in foreign lands.

This type of behavior is very rare in other immigrant communities all over the world.

Ordinary relationship and marriage, we cannot manage within our community once we are in foreign land.

open your mind and stop trying to follow-follow the failure and/or footsteps of others. why would you want to associate with Nigerians when you can associate with local people who A) know better about this new country than Nigerians, B) will open your eyes and enlighten you 100 times better than Nigerians about this new country?!

i will even go further and say:" STAY AWAY FROM NIGERIANS and make your own path in life; make your own journey, make your how history, go look for people of different culture, different mindset and enlighten yourself with a different way of life.dont go listen to other Nigerians who will advise you to do what they did (where they failed) as if you cant do it on your own. if you go to the US, dont go looking for Nigerians, go look for Americans to mingle with, there are millions of them there.
And who says having fellow Nigerians around you will prevent you from achieving all these?
TravelRe: Why Nigerian Ladies Should Be Avoided Abroad by Helpout12345: 10:38pm On Sep 21, 2022
There are still good Nigerian women in abroad, both single and married.

Yes. Many of our women become overnight "woke" or forget their culture or even start telling you how they dislike their own culture at home and how they believe oyinbo culture and ways are the best. This is why Nigerian marriages struggle abroad. Of course, some Nigerian men too have some blames here too. Some of them will start practicing "red pill" nonsense that is not according to our culture as well.

My advise to any single Nigerian abroad is that once your potential partner is already showing the traits of "wokeness", "oyinbo culture is best in the world", "red pill" and you still believe in your native ways, set boundaries around that relationship. Otherwise you will regret it later if you get over involved by marriage, children involved etc.

the most importat question IS: why would a Nigerian person pay thousands of $$ to travel accross the world, to then associate with people he/she can meet back home?!?!? i think that is the most senseless thing to do.

open your mind, discover the world, indulge, get out your comfort zone, mingle with different people with different cultures and get adventurous with the world.
What's this? What do we call this you wrote here? So because you leave Nigeria, you don't want to associate with your fellow Nigerians again?

Please Help with the following question

How can one make payment for the I140 form processing from Nigeria?

Thanks
You may pay the fee with a money order, personal check, or cashier’s check.  When filing at a USCIS lockbox, you may also pay by credit card using Form G-1450, Authorization for Credit Card Transactions. If you pay by check, you must make your check payable to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

https://www.uscis.gov/i-140
https://www.uscis.gov/pay-with-a-credit-card

In summary, you pay with a US Bank personal check, cashier’s check, or credit cards, or a money order drawn from a US organization.

In practice, from Nigeria, if you are using an attorney, you give the government filling fee to the attorney and the attorney will use any of the acceptable forms to pay the USCIS. If you DIY from Nigeria, you will need someone in the US to help you buy money order or cashier’s check, or issue a personal US check, except you have a US bank account yourself.

Also, note from the second link attached that only US Bank issued credit cards are allowed.

Many thanks to you for addressing this affidavit of support part because it has been an area of concern to me. I like to know for like a family of 3, which the expected financial support according the 125pct is around $29k. Can I present savings of $20k in USD and the remaining $9k in naira equivalence of official rate? Looking forward to your reply. Thanks
Hmm. This is a tricky one because of the high disparity between official and common exchange rates in Nigeria.

To answer your question, you can present your savings in both USD and/or NGN. You can even add more other liquid assets like stocks etc. But I will advise you use common black market rate to present equivalent of your NGN in dollars to be on the safe side because the VOs know many individuals in Nigeria cannot get dollars at official rates.

Your organization is very important here. The VO has just 1 to 3 minutes to review everything around this. Do a listing of all your asset details in a printed excel format, back up with all required documents to proof all the listed assets (raw cash in banks, stocks, other assets).

If you are presenting other type of assets like stocks, real estate, remember to back them up with stocks certificates and other official documents.

All well arranged and put together in a folder you can just hand over to the VO at a go.
