Family / Re: Do Babies Enjoy Being Backed? by Ib(f): 12:02am On Apr 02, 2013
I only discovered backing my baby about 2 months ago when she was 7 months and i tell you it is a lifesaver. When she's getting cranky, overtired and in need of a nap, i back her and its like sleeping tablets..she just goes....zzzzz. When im trying to cook in the kitchen and she wont let me get on with my chores, i back her and she feels secure by being with me whilst i can get on with my tasks without any disturbance. I even find it more convenient backing her than when i carried her with the baby carrier on my front. I couldnt carry the weight after she turned 4months but when you carry them on the back, you carry them until they are toddlers as mentioned above.

I cant speak for other babies but it certainly works for me even though i started late...she loves it. And for us abroad who dont have anyone to help us look after our babies, backing your baby will come as a great help to you. Try it. I just wish someone can come up with an innovative way of designing some cool carrier for this, im sure it would be a best seller.

@ dominique, that traditional method is so crude from what you narrated. Why would anyone putt their life and that of the baby at such high risk?

I used Johnson baby products when baby was born but she developed serious rashes after 2 weeks. I took her to the GP and was advised to stay far away from ALL Johnson baby products as they are too harsh on a baby's skin. She also said they use very clever marketing to sell their products. The best product for babies is olive oil, shea butter or pure coconut oil. I now use epaderm + sheaa butter and oilatum for baths. Myy bubu skin is as smooth as silk.

@ Otokx, i was in uniport for a bit na....i know the school and Aluu wella. Infact, i was robbed at shining machete point there sef. The school was fun by i found that the students (boys and girls alike) were very prone to violence.
Crime / Re: 3 Students Burnt To Death In Uniport by Ib(f): 9:33am On Oct 06, 2012
The more i look at the pictures, the more angry i get. What sort of beasts are we breeding and becoming The criminal justice system needs a complete REVAMP but the Nigerian people will not allow because we prefer things the way are, we dont like the law working because it may interfere with the way of life we live so we sabotage it, we weaken it, we reduce the courts to a place for weddings and swearing affidavits. The government also has a lot to gain from keeping the judicial system in darkness, because if they fix it, the hammer of justice may fall squarely on their head...so they leave the police to run riot, the court system is useless and prisons are another story.

In absence of civilization, human beings become animals, resulting in madness/frustration/pure wickedness. At the end of the day, every action deserves a consequence but where there is no cilivised system to address issues like cultism and armed robberies, i guess, we will continue to see more of these sick scenes multiplying around Nigeria.

Nairaland / General / Re: What Happened To The Women On Nairaland? by Ib(f): 10:59am On Sep 25, 2012
Judging from what majority of the ladies have said so far, its obvious that we women refuse to be subjected and dragged into needless arguments and barrage of insults. I urge the "sensible" men still remaining on this forum to take our responses seriously and make a change for the better before NL becomes a men only forum cos thats what is inevitable bound to happen. seun pls take note.

look at my id/profile and see im one of those from the old skool nl...things are degenerated badly since then. even my husband who used to be a regular contributor has stopped coming here altogether for the same reasons.
Nairaland / General / Re: What Happened To The Women On Nairaland? by Ib(f): 12:47am On Sep 25, 2012
i used to be a regular contributor on NL back in the day when there were loads of professionals and mature minded individuals until the forum was hijacked by those who choose to turn most threads into a boxing arena trading sexual innuendos, racist and tribal slurs, brazen insults, narcissist and chauvinistic views. I cant have a conversation on those terms so i choose to be a passive participant these days limiting myself to reading interesting or making a comment on threads specific to my immediate needs/circumstances. Plus i comment after studying the trends...observing to make sure its not one of those that attracts the hawks that want to force down their views/insults down my throat.

Ladies....(and gents) im here...im alive!!! i made it! i had the cutest baby girl ever on tuesday 8th may( 2 weeks today). Gosh it was tough! it was hard! it was 48 hours of labour from first contraction to the actual birth. I cried out to God so many times..i prayed like no mans business through every contraction. kai....but as all mothers say...it was worth it in the end. When my baby was put in my arms..i was going crazy with emotions of joy, pain, gratitude to God, the midwives, my hubby. My husband! he was my rock! he was with me through all my contractions and during the birth, he was the assistant midwife encouraging me to push out our baby...(although he was an asshole during my pregnancy), he rose to the occasion on the day.

Now baby is here, the work begins. my sleep life has gone out the window...my baby sleeps through the day Then at 1am, her eyes open and you know this is it! no be small work! thank God i have a husband so we share the night-shift, he carries small, i feed, we work together.

Life has changed. i used to be able to up and go when i pleased, that is no more! i would miss my old life! but im glad i rocked every stage of my life to the fullest so im looking forward to what this phase (motherhood) brings forth).

To all the preggers ladies...stay safe, stay healthy and to all the new mums...lets enjoy the ride cos they grow so fast! i would put a picture of baby up once i get a chance. im so lazy lol.

agiboma, how u dey??

Im now having severe" lower back ache and cramping down below. Hopefully i'd go into labour sooner than later because i dont want CS.

Ladies, do you think being pregnant in naija is harder than being abroad? Ive observed that more ladies complain of headaches, extreme nausea, high bp and other ailments. Is that the case or am i being silly. I know that woman abroad go thru difficulties in pregnancies...im not naive but it seems that in naija, its even more stressful.

@ mogbomoya....nightmares are perfectly normal. I had the most ridiculous nightmares from hanging out with aliens to having sex with Rick Ross...lol. My husband marvelled at some of the nightmares i relayed to him, they were so random and spooky. Just last week i had a dream that my mucus plug came out in form of an 8-legged slimy creature urgghh!

Yea sure, as long as it concerns you there should be cleavage. But when fight start or it is time to share property you remember you once came from a family. You wan enjoy the spoils, you no wan bear the responsibility. Madam cleavage.

errmm mr 2mch ...i dont understand your point and pls i dont engage in nairaland useless insults so that sarcastic tune of madam cleavage is very unnecessary. count me out of that nonsense.
Family / Re: Issues In My Marriage by Ib(f): 11:43pm On Apr 19, 2012
In my opinion, i feel that the issues in this marriage has to do with the fact that both parties esp the husband do not understand this important requirement for marriage: Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24 KJV). Other translations render “leave and cleave” as “leave and be united” (NIV), “leave and be joined” (NASB), and “leave and hold fast” (ESV).

To “cleave” means “to adhere to, stick to, or join with.” It is a unique joining of two people into one entity.

If either spouse fails to both leave and cleave, problems will result in a marriage. If spouses refuse to truly leave their Parents, Friends, Extended family, Sometimes a sport or hobby or activity, Our selfish ways or Anything else that might come in the way of our ability to bond with one another, conflict and stress result. Leaving your parents does not mean ignoring them or not spending any time with them. Leaving your parents means recognizing that your marriage created a new family and that this new family must be a higher priority than your previous family. If spouses neglect to cleave to each other, the result is a lack of intimacy and unity. Cleaving to your spouse does not mean being with your spouse every moment or not having meaningful friendships outside of your marriage. Cleaving to your spouse means recognizing that you are joined, essentially “glued,” to your spouse. Cleaving is key in building a marriage that will endure hard times and be the beautiful relationship that God intends it to be.

I dont mean to go all church......however, if partners understand this very key concept, this situation would not have occurred.
