/ The security guards in the bank need to be fired. That's the time they should have bundled you and throw you away like a piece of broken furniture. / |
ediko5:/ Native doctor. Herbalist. Sit down, take a deep breath and reflect on the title. What is wrong in being a herbalist (doctor that treats ailments with herbs) or native doctor (of course, not foreign doctor)? What made Africans despise their own and embrace foreign things? Nike is good but Made in Aba is bad? Whoever destroyed Africans psychologically must have been a genius. / |
zoba88:/ That's the familiar territory everyone is talking about where they move with police escorts and the oppressed praise them to the high heavens. It is business as usual. After all, he was never challenged in Enugu. He can always go back for another yam festival in Germany with his coat of arms jacket to test his fame. That's the only litmus test. / |
Abo123:/ She won! Leave her alone. NB: I got it even though you keep misplacing the pronoun. / |
pDudd:/ Interesting! So he is Mrs. Barbara Amadi's younger brother. She even addressed him as Hon. Valentine Iro. Honorable is the new craze among Diasporan Nigerians in Los Angeles. Everyone is now an Honorable. / |
oluwadabira111:/ It doesn't work like that. It is called a "Plea deal" for a reason. A deal has to be made with the District Attorney's office first. He will be prosecuted on a lesser charge, then he can plead guilty to that for a less penalty. Pleading guilty doesn't mean he committed the crime. It is part of the chess game they play with people's lives in the judiciary system in US to save time and money involved in trials. It is worst for poor folks who don't have enough reserves to hire good and competent attorneys. Eg: Charges X with a crime that carries mandatory 15 years minimum. X makes a deal with DA to give names of accomplices for reduced charges that will get him out in 2 years. This is where "snitching" comes into play. No lengthy and costly jury trial. With all parties in agreement, X plays his part, serves only 2 years and is out. With no deal, if he pleads guilty, they will nail him to the cross. / |
Victni:/ That's good. You are the driver. The rich boyfriend is the car washer. Who drives...wins! / |
/ It is not about wailing online. If it pains you, start your company and employ Nigerians. That's the only way to prove him wrong. You sit on your lazy behinds and want foreigners to come to your fatherland and employ you. / |
smogup:/ Talk and no action? He is reading a speech prepared and handed to him. That's all. / |
/ The harm is done already. Ekweremadu is now synonymous with yam and "beating". They can rent the whole Enugu for all they care. Even a mere invitation like "come eat yam" elicits laughter and mockery. That's how bad it is. / |
benn94:/ The politicians are not the problem. The problem is the masses that keep bowing, respecting and rewarding their oppressors. Don't be surprised if this community confers a traditional title to the governor of the state next month. / |
/ If he is a snitch, he deserves a standing ovation. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. No snitching policy has kept the African-Americans at the bottom of the toten pole. Why will Nigerians want to carry on such a retrogressive code? He deserves some accolades! / |
/ Oluwafemi's case is gathering momentum in Australia https://www.stelladimokokorkus.com/2019/08/nigerian-man-fisayo-abiodun-oluwafemi.html?m=1 Nigerian Man Fisayo Abiodun Oluwafemi Pleads Guilty To 11 Counts Of Email Scam Running Into Millions Of Dollars... A Nigerian, Fisayo Abiodun Oluwafemi, has been charged with $1.4m fraud in Australia. He stands accused of dealing with more than $1.4 million in proceeds of crime from email scams targeting several businesses. The Nigerian also helped to disperse money from the scams while he lived at Villawood detention centre in Sydney’s west. Oluwafemi, 44, pleaded guilty on Thursday to 11 charges including nine counts of knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime. This was after he was arrested by the NSW Police Cybercrime squad on September 2018. Police had launched Strike Force Woolana to investigate Oluwafemi and six others over a series of “business email compromise” scams. The scams involved somehow gaining access to the email account of a legitimate business. The email infiltrator would then find invoices. Thereafter, he would use the information in them to request business payments into a new bank account. Money deposited in that account was then withdrawn or transferred overseas. Oluwafemi dealt with proceeds of crime after a series of individuals and businesses were targeted. This includes a company which owns land leased to a company named ‘7-Eleven‘ in the Melbourne suburb of Hallam. An unknown person, posing as an employee of the landowner, emailed 7-Eleven on August 1, 2018, asking for the lease to be paid into a different account. 7-Eleven paid $464,977.06 the same day. Of that, $115,000 was transferred to another account. This was changed to US dollars and ultimately moved to Nigeria. A Queensland law firm, a computer software company, and a father and son were among others to fall prey to the scam. According to court documents, Oluwafemi and others acted on the instruction of other people based overseas when they coordinated how to distribute the money from the email scams. Before he was detained at Villawood, Oluwafemi accompanied his de facto partner to a car dealership at Artarmon on March 8, 2017, where she bought a $58,000 Range Rover Evoque with the proceeds from a fraudulent bank account. From detention, Oluwafemi then used three mobile phones to open 19 bank accounts using seven stolen identities. He communicated with others on WhatsApp to tell them when money had been transferred into the accounts. Subsequently, the money was then withdrawn. According to agreed facts, police have been able to recover $915,989.60 from the $1,425,653.76 proceeds of crime in which Oluwafemi dealt. When Oluwafemi is sentenced, a further five charges will be taken into account. This includes three counts of dealing with identification information with the intent to commit an indictable offence, and one count of participating in a criminal group. The Nigerian will face the District Court in Sydney on August 30. from 1stnews.com |
ogbonti:/ Some people will beg to differ because they watch too much TV or they live in fantasy world. When prodded, their defense always starts with "My uncle in US...blablabla" You nailed it. But that's the painful truth newcomers don't want to hear until reality hits them hard on getting here. / |
Sir Michael Otedola Sir Michael Otedola (16 July 1926 – 5 May 2014) was a Nigerian politician and the former Governor of Lagos State, Nigeria. Otedola was born on the 16 July 1926 into a Muslim family at Odoragunsin, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State. He died on 5 May 2014 at his residence in his home town of Epe, Lagos. After moving to Lagos to pursue his education he won a scholarship to study Journalism at the Regent Street Polytechnicin London where he graduated in 1958. He began his career as a teacher before working as a reporter at the St. Pancras Chronicle, then as a reporter and later sub-editor at The Guardian and The Times in England. On his return to Nigeria in 1959 he became an Information Officer in the Western Nigeria government, and while in this post he was appointed the Editor of the Western Nigeria Illustrated. In 1961 he moved into public relations, working for Western Nigeria Television/Western Broadcasting Service (1961-1964) and Mobil Oil Group of Companies (1964-1977), continuing as a consultant to Mobil after leaving the company. He was elected governor of Lagos State from 1992 to 1993 on the platform of the National Republican Convention (NRC), leaving office when General Sani Abachacame to power. His administration facilitated establishing the Yaba College of Technology campus in Epe, his home town. After leaving office, he continued his career as a writer, a consultant holding positions on the boards of various businesses, and a philanthropist. In February 2010 ThisDay newspaper announced that he was among 15 eminent Nigerians who had won Lifetime Achievement Awards. His son Femi Otedola became the billionaire owner of Nigerian oil giant Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited. The Michael Otedola College of Primary Education was named after him after his demise. NB: Let's warm up to cheer Tinubu's son |
/ Now this is what you call bountiful harvest of Nigerians. Someone stated in another thread how easy it is in US ... that's because folks like these fly in with their loot to Nigeria to make noise. / |
wman:/ No human being that breathes and bleeds is indestructible. Even Julius Ceasar thought otherwise. Tinubu has no military of his own. The quality of his followers (who happen to be lilly-livered, moderately ambitious Yoruba males) determines his limits. I didn't say men. Watch how the Northern cabals will play him when 2023 draws near. El Rufai and Ganduje have fired the first shots. / |
/ Getting married is one thing but having a blissful marriage is another thing. / |
/ Tinubu is not an emperor. He is a man who is lucky enough to be leading cowards. Throw a man with the temperament of governors from Edo, Imo, Anambra or Rivers into that governorship position and he will run Tinubu out of Lagos. Heck! An a-hole may destroy Bourdillon close and say it is not on the Lagos masterplan just to spite Tinubu. Tinubu has to be challenged to ascertain if he is as powerful as they claim. But it can't happen until a "man" becomes the governor of Lagos State. Tinubu doesn't have an army of his own. / |
Came4amod:/ Books...classmates...school. Build something tangible else stop criticizing those who care to put what they learned into practice. Continue teaching your classmates. / |
/ ABU have world class infrastructures that stand out. It didn't start today. / |
Came4amod:/ FEA or IFA designer. Drop the books and think outside the box. Contrary to what they teach you in Nigeria, critical thinking is not a crime. Cram and vomit is obsolete. You are so married to concrete and steel column buildings that anything beyond it is a miracle to you. Be informed that progressive professionals have this crazy thing they do called "thinking". Try it once in a while. / |
Came4amod:/ Not unexpected. Here comes a Nigerian who probably has never soldered two pieces of wire together in his life schooling Qatar about textbook explanations on thermal expansion. SMH. / |
/ No need for unnecessary promises. The political watchdog "IPOB" will let us know if you are doing a wonderful job or not. If in doubt, join a gym to keep your physical fitness up. It may come handy if you need to race to a getaway car. Just a friendly advice. / |
/ God's calling is infectious and hereditary. A man's calling is incomplete unless the wife and children are called too. / |
Automotive1:/ This is old technology. They have "black boxes" that detail a driver's driving habit like speed limit, acceleration, braking, etc which can be analyzed after an accident. But if you live in Nigeria, don't worry about it because nobody really cares about your existence. They may only collect your data for advertising and marketing purposes only. / |
alsudan:/ Dictators know how to mess up pretentious social justice warriors. IBB played the same game with Tai Solarin using the defunct People's Bank of Nigeria in 1989. Solarin's reputation never recovered from the mess. / |
/ Isn't he the one giving free rent to poor families? Native doctor gives; pastors take. Who will make heaven? / |
Clint26:/ A good barber can fix it. But you need money for regular haircuts. / |
Enchantaurl:/ He wanted to learn about poultry farming while your mother wanted to learn about oil bunkering? Your mother is a jaguda! / |
/ It is sad that it happened to Ekweremadu. But the message seen all over the world is loud and clear. No amount of solidarity can change that. Nigerian leaders react better to actions than words. All the texts, tweets, threats, strikes, protests, cajoling, communique, etc can never move them. But a few slaps, knocks, jabs especially in an unfamiliar territory bring them down to the reality of humans. The day ASUU will beat the Minister of Education into coma, their arrears and salaries will be paid as at when due. The same goes for NLC. Negotiations haven't got them anywhere in decades. Need a change? Quit talking and act! / |
candidtalk:/ Yes. Abuja will order Britain to strip Kanu off of his British citizenship. For one, if it must happen, it will go through a process and not by dictatorial fiat. You are daft. / |
