Bevista: Are you telling me that GMB has not travelled out to US since 2011?
Are you referring to the same GMB that US Secretary of State (John Kerry) flew all the way down from US to have a meeting with in Nigeria?
Rubbish. Go get a life!
#TeamGMB2015 #SaiBuhari / The two reasons being touted could never be the reasons not to travel to US. Unless he has an outstanding warrant of arrest, GMB can fly to and fro US any time he wants. Who are the ones to take up the challenge against GMB in diaspora? Of course not any of Nigerian charlatans living abroad. The most successful campaign they can engage in is usually from the comfort of their keyboards at home. Try to mobilize Nigerians in USA for a protest, and you will hear all the excuses in the book ranging from conflicted work schedule to indifference. Whoever wrote that article is a mo:ron. \ \ |

glimpse33: there is this girl named Anita that I was dating for two months, in may 2014. immediately she found out I was ibo, she said she hates my tribe with passion, that all we care about is money..money & said it was over. I begged her, that I 'm not like that, besides I was born in Edo state to Ibo parents. eventually she left and
l began working hard, got employed at Hi tech construction company, worked there for six months and I finally hammered... got a new apartment, new car & I became the talk of the town.. *not proud*
One Saturday morning, I went to buy airtime, I saw Anita's parent crying and begging their landlord, I went closer , saw some boys throwing out their properties, I asked the landlord why, he said they can't pay their two years rent which was 160k, I rushed home signed a check gave it to the landlord, they returned back their loads and everybody was looking at me. since that day, Anita parents have been calling me their son, and Anita won't let me be. its either she's the one calling, knocking at the door begging me. I was like okay fine, I forgive you. But, she wants us to be together AGAIN...
All I want from you nairalanders is your Advice.. cos I am planning on getting married this year. I need the right woman. THANKS / Let us assume (Yes! We are that st.upid) that Hi Tech Construction Co. is very generous with salary payments. N200k/month x 6 months = N1.2m So you got a car and an apartment and still have extra N160k in your account to give to Anita's parents? All from your salary? You are one heck of a magician!!! \ |

tpiah11: you are really saying nothing (or else typing without sense, because every single thing you claimed here, is commonly applicable to all immigrants, regardless of field of work. Applicable to all immigrants? Well, this thread is about Nigerians. So I will not bring other immigrants into it. Kapish?tpiah11: would you turn up your nose at $80,000? are you from a rich family? If yes, why are you hustling overseas? Comprehension is your major problem. Read my earlier post again esp. the part about forming Folorunsho Alakija. It is not my job to educate you.
tpiah11: which job is not depressing at some point? It all depends on the type of interaction or work dynamics which goes there. Yep. Every job could be depressing. But some are more depressing than others. As I stated, it gets worse for the folks that do not have the calling but got into Nursing to earn a paycheck.tpiah11: as per your last point, overseas is credit based economy, unlike nigeria which is cash based economy ie cash and carry, which has its pros but also leads to higher rates of insecurity, armed robbery, corruption, fraud, and other social ills. You don't seem to understand credit economy. Do you? Cash or credit? It is all the same. You don't expect someone who has no revolving/steady source of income to be given a line-of-credit by a bank. One needs a verifiable source of income, credit history, etc. to qualify. In Nigeria, they ask for fixed asset as a collateral. But banks in US may use job and credit history to advance some credit facilities to a customer. But in all, it is the same. That's why advertisements surreptitiously add the phrase "On approved credit". So, it is either you got it or you ain't got it. No free lunch. |

When they make $80k/yr, for their mind they are "Folorunsho Alakija" or Oprah Winfrey.
Bedside nursing sucks and could be depressing. But most immigrants are more interested in the dollar signs until they finally get to do the work. It sucks more if one's background is not in healthcare.
They tend to forget that it is not necessarily how much you make, but how much you keep at the end of the month..

We know a lot things are wrong in Nigeria. What I expected was a ND President that would uplift his people by engaging in a massive infrastructural development of the SS.
My first trip to Bayelsa was in 2013. I couldn't believe what I saw in ND. GEJ has the opportunity to better his people for over six years but he got carried away by the allures of power only to wake up at the 11th hour to profer half-baked solutions.
If SS wants to retain the Presidency, so be it. The least they could have done is present someone with strong leadership skills. But then, how much input, if at all, did the ND folks make in the emergence of GEJ as the Nigerian President? Zilch.
The choice of GEJ shows that there are clandestine sinister motives to maintain status quo which explains why he plays ignorant on issues bordering on corruption. / |

Male Anchor : ....of A state who is supposedly ACN and in opposition federally, what's your thought about what has been happening, looking at it as a Nigerian what's your thought about what has been happening in Rivers state?
P.O :Let me say 'Presticimo' that is as quickly as possible, that the Political 'crinkum-crankum' or if you like, the political 'higi-haga' that has enveloped the politics of rivers state for a period of aeon now has all the trappings of an odoriferous saga cum gargantuan gaga. and I am maniacally bewildered taht this flashpuence flashpoint is of no serious concern to the commander in chief of the federal republic of nigeria. This is because all the flashpuence flashpoint of war that has lubored snowballed and transmogrified into bringing about a calamitous end for Nigeria, always has their ??atemedus acu?? terminus aquo-their source of origin that is- either in one state or in one region. For me, as far as I am concerned, I can see the ship of the Nigerian state hovering around the political Bermuda Triangle and if we do not take very urgent and responsible steps to meander the interstices of eschewable cataracts, land mines waterfronts, icebergs and ox bow lakes, the ship of the Nigerian state has all the capacities and possibilities of berthing in the disastrous and pestilential aqua of a terminus aquem . Let me say that my critical history and historiography of the study of the war of attrition and belligerence in Rivers state did not commence with the Obi/Okpor political tendency. it commenced strictly speaking with the suspicion by some power centres that Governor Rotimi Amaechi nurses an ambition for the Vice President of Nigeria
Female Anchor: So are you saying this- all of these is happening because of the 2015 elections?
P.O: It’s very crystal clear like the biblical 'MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN'. It's audible to the deaf and visible to the blind. and any case, no less the political personage than the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan has been heard to have confirmed that. He said so, we read it in the papers that 2015 is the ??Faucet origo?? fons et origo of this crisis, it's the ‘faucet fons et origo’ of political tension in the country and he urged the political dramatis personae to put their 'sheath in their swords' that 2015 is still far away. But if you look at the totality of the crisis in rivers state just now, it leaves me with just two conclusions.
ONE! That 2015 is inherently laden with a political and democratic thalidomide. TWO!,
Male Anchor: Sir Thalidomide will be?
P.O: Stillborn, it may be stillborn
Male Anchor: Okay.
P.O: TWO! Whearas some social scientist like myself have gone to town for donkey years now saying that what we have is not a democracy, but what we have is civilian rule, but by recent events, I'm even tempted to say No,No,No,No,No,No,No,No, Nigeria is neither witnessing civilian rule, nor is Nigeria witness democracy, what we have at best, is a form of Government I call kakistomoboplutocarcy and that is BAD for the nation. Is it within the Obi/Okpor context? Is it within the NGF election context where 16 persons are more than 19 persons, if within the microscopic ceramics and cadence of 36 Governor who are supposed to be the ??susseranes suzerains of democratic ethics and ethos in their respective terra firma, you cannot adjudge democratic score.
Female Anchor: How best do you think this crisis can be resolved? in the, whether utmost political manner or democratic, How best can this crisis be resolved?
P.O: Very Simple, Very Simple. The President of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria is the Customs ?? of Societal Mores, having superintendence over all political umbrages Contras bonos mores ?. By that I mean, he's supposed to be the moral conscience-the social and moral conscience-of our ethical and national values.
Female Anchor: Are you saying the President needs to step in here and be decisive about what is happening in Rivers state?
P.O: All governors in the length and breath of the federal republic of Nigeria are the Governor children. The govern- the President just now must come down from matino libos Mountain Olympus. The President just now, must not be partisan. The President just now must show more than a complacent, more than a lethargic, more than a a passive interest in the security and political imbroglio in Rivers State.
