addicted268: I agree but I think its more to do with the police wahala than numbness of emotions.do you know how many people that are rotting in nigerian prisons for doing good?I remember an incident that happened during my uni days.I was traveling from lagos to ph,just after warri there was this bus that had three dead people inside.our bus driver slowed down and we took a good look.obviously they were shot.people naturally sympathized, then we continued our journey.after driving for about 10mins we encountered a police checkpoint but the police there were just relaxing under a shade,so passengers asked the driver to go report the incident to the police.the man refused initially saying d people were already dead.after a while,he agreed, parked the car and walked up to them to report the incident.na so police hold our driver o.started asking him stupid questions like "if u weren't d one that shot them, how did u know they died of gunshot wounds"?before we could say jack robinson, the driver became "the accused".they said he must take them back to d venue of the incident, then from there to the station to go write statement.no be small wahala that day o.after so much pleading by all the passengers in the bus, they let us go.needless to say that d driver cursed those who persuaded him to report the incident all thru the remainder of the journey.that was the day I understood what was meant by "voom(run) is better than statement".ever heard people say that in police wahala "I-no-follow is N20,000"?.....@OP,thank you for your kindness.God will reward you.
/
Interesting indeed. I remember couple of weeks when we had arguments on why a policeman would shoot a motorist that ran into UNILAG. It points to the fact that every encounter with Nigerian Police personnel is unique in its own way but each leaving a sour taste on the victim.

Anyway, we will continue to live. From my neck of woods back then, I know that most people run away from police especially as festive seasons draw nigh (Xmas, Easter). These are the periods that NPF up their extortion game. I subscribe to the principle of "voom better than statement". If you could, just avoid any encounter with those sons-of-gun.
I will give you kudos for your work and humanity to stop and help people in such an unfortunate situation.

However, I will go further and differ significantly from MOST people here writing comments. IT IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT AND EFFECTIVE TO HAVE A WORKING SYSTEM FOR WHICH STATE & LOCAL GOVERNMENTS HAVE FUNCTIONAL AND ROBUST HEALTH POLICIES & PROGRAMS! Since this incident, dozens of such accidents would have happened with possible fatalities, how many places or individual people will be of much use to these situations? Do you know that in a serious environment with developed systems, YOUR MOST IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION (EXCEPT UNIQUE CASES OF DIRE EMERGENCY & YOU ARE A TRAINED MEDICAL PRACTITIONER) is to CALL 9-1-1 AND STAY AWAY! YOUR WILLINGNESS BUT UNTRAINED HELP WILL CAUSE MORE HARM AND KILL THE INJURED FASTER!

I don't live in Nigeria! My advice, go and VOTE for political parties that have accomplished people-oriented policies and who at least listen to the people! This is of course any party but your PDP in the East of Nigeria. The bigots among you who are in the majority will prefer to come running to NL to make posts, stupid prayers mentioning God when you have refused to do the MOST BASIC THINGS: ORGANIZATION, SYSTEMS, POLICIES, ETC! Your help might have saved a few people (kudos to you) but you will be clueless when emergencies in which victims have only 1 hour to find professional health care! Over here, it is the norm that when VERY severe accidents happen, the endangered victims will be air-lifted to tertiary hospitals immediately arriving possibly in 15 - 30 mins. Note there are ambulances which have perpetual right of way when responding to an emergency but this system goes even further by air ambulances. This is the way to PLAN in order to AVOID USELESS, STUPID PRAYERS and 50 NL posts from sympathizers who slam every alternate opportunity to evolve a better society because the main actors of such are from the North or South West or from mars, so far as they are not from their tribe. A word is enough for the wise but I am aware foolishness runs in most tribalistic and religious beings in Nigeria.
/
You don't understand. No club, party has such mandate. What happens is one loses in PDP, he runs to ACN, then to APC, then to APGA, then back to PDP. The cycle continues until he lands in a position where he can steal to recover the funds
expended in prostituting non-existing ideologies. Do you really think that there is any difference in ideology among PDP, ACN, PDP, APGA, DPP, Labour Party, etc.

Na all man to himself.

/
It beats me why f@cking Africans are busy chasing the latest trend in mobile telephony.

New versions come out all the time and all Westerners have to do is turn in their old phone and renew their contracts
without outright purchase of phones. And when such phones damage, manufacturers' warranties or insurance coverages fix them.

But what do you have in Nigeria? You buy it, and keep buying, buying and buying until you drop.
What is it with Nigerians bragging about how much they spent acquiring things while most westerners brag about how much
they save acquiring items.

Nobody spends their way to wealth.

A lot of doubting Thomases in the house. From personal experiences, there are some things that you cannot explain.
100% of my predictions have come to pass. For this month of July, I make the following predictions. Feel free
to write it down.
1) Within a month from today, there will be an accident along Lagos-Ibadan expressway
2) Within a month from today, someone in NL will write "1st to comment". 3) Within a month from toay, atleast 3 people
will be banned from NL 4) I see death....a woman is going to die in Lagos, another one in Oshogbo before August 30
5) Believe it or not, you are reading this because I made you read it.

I don't think you should throw away anything.
Another man's poison is another man's food.

Check if anybody (friends, relatives or strangers) could find such items useful.
That broken/outdated TV, fridge you are throwing away could be a poor man's treasure.

You will be surprised.

I still think the world is over-populated.

I salute whoever has the courage to give up their seat in this crazy world

Suicide is like someone choosing to board 1st Bus from Akure to Lagos.

Others may follow afternoon or night bus; the final destination remains Lagos.

Nnamdi has entered one chance!

I hope he has an airtight prenuptial agreement else everything he has worked hard for is going down the shitter.

There is no love in this country. He is not thinking beyond football games and retirement.

This boy is going to learn the hard way especially marrying an old cargo who has all the experiences in the world.

..Mark my words..It will be 5 years max; better she may stretch it till 10 to get lifetime pension out of it.

That's why she had him keep it quiet before American busy bodies start exposing her.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by InvertedHammer: 10:59pm On Jul 03, 2013
Ola one: In democracy, the only legit way to remove your president is through elections. Your vote is your weapon, they say. Why some learned NLanders are in support of this arbitrariness is not clear to me.

This is a bad precedent for budding democracies around the world.
/
[b]You are wrong.

Democracy is government of the people by the people and for the people. When someone deviates from campaign promises and starts pandering to the wishes of a cabal, he/she has lost the mandate given to him/her. Democracy needs to be tailored to the environment it is being practiced. That is the essence of critical thinking(thinking outside the box) in colleges instead of cramming texts and vomiting same without critical analysis of the content.

It is idiotic to wait a full term of madness to change non-performing leadership. No time lost is ever gained back.
Egyptians took the bull by the horn. I applaud the military for the matured way they handled the situation.

OBJ did terribly bad.. we waited for a full 8 yrs. GEJ is now dancing naked and we will wait another 8 years. That will be 16 years down the drain while we await for Messiah to levitate down from heaven to solve our problems.

Do you wonder why most nations are hostile to Nigerians? Because when countries are bad, the citizens fight the power (kudos Syria, Egypt, Libya). The eventual outcome might not be well, but they stared the dictator in the face and fought like the heroes that they are. But in Nigeria, the citizens are scouting for any country where the citizens have finished fighting with their blood to migrate there and start living a good life.

When I think of Nigerians, I remember the adage that says, "People will choose UNHAPPINESS over UNCERTAINTY--Timothy Ferriss"

Obiagelli: This is serious, always new the brotherhood would not last in a strategic country like Egypt. I won't be surprised if the West endorsed this coup
/
The West will not do anything. Did you see the massive protest? There is a difference between some disgruntled elements shooting their ways to power and the one anchored on popular opinion/action.

Besides, the army chief is not the new President. He cleared the way for sanity to return to the nation.
In Nigeria, you shoot your way to power to become a maxim leader. Therein lies the difference.

Properties › Re: Why Do Nigerians Fence Their Houses? by InvertedHammer: 6:55pm On Jul 03, 2013
Afam4eva: The obvious answer to this question will be security. But isn't there a way around it such that our residential houses will be open just like the Americans do theirs. I think fences take away the beauty that a house is supposed to add to the environment and it also makes sure that there's no uniformity. Every compound is like a country on it's own. Why can't we borrow a leaf from the way American suburbs look like.

Just see this pics and tell me you don't like them:

OK.
If you build your mansion, no fence am.
If your car alternator no loss, na im rear light and other orisirisi for your house go loss.

America is a different environment with Nigeria.

Why do you put locks on your doors? In America, only the entrance doors have locks
