HealthRe: Celebrating One Year Of Abstinence From Sugary Drinks by jaszplus12(m): 1:06pm On Dec 25, 2021
NovesaTillie:
Hurray cheesy cheesy
I think it's worth celebrating my one year anniversary away from taking soft drinks and any kind of Sugary drinks especially because I was so addicted to the extent of drinking 5 bottles of soft drink everyday. It started like a movie and before I knew it, one plastic bottle of soft drink couldn't satisfy me anymore.

From substituting water with soft drink especially during the lock down whenever I had my meal or felt dehydrated to just drinking it for fun and I loved it chilled.
Each time I finished drinking it there was this burst of energy and happiness that follows sad.
I remember a particular weekend when I didn't have any cash on me I begged the neighborhood store to give me a pack of Coca-Cola drink to take me for the weekend till workday before I paid for it.

Then towards the last quarter of the year last year, I started noticing how yellowish my urine became and it dawned on me that I needed to cut down on the intake and so my journey began. It was a tough one because I was already used to taking 5-6 pet bottles daily. But I started by reducing by 1 bottle each week and replacing it with water. By December last year I firmly decided to put an end to what had become my addiction.
Now here I am today, healthier and happier.
No matter how chilled or iced, so far it's soft drink I won't take it. Even at work, when lunch is served I always consciously change my drink for water.
Then at home, whenever the urge came I replaced it with taking fresh fruits juices and smoothies which I make myself..
Congratulations buddy! Great move, been off sugars over two years myself.

Being friendly with your kids helps a lot. Some parents' behavior and character can scare the hell out of a child. Imagining a child being scared or afraid whenever Dad or Mum is back at home, such child will not be able to speak up whenever he or she is facing with challenges. Parents-Child relationship matters a lot. Now, some one said to my daughter ( 9 years old) that one day, I will rape you. when she came back that same moment, she told me, Daddy this is what that uncle said. I didn't waste the next second I got him arrested and he confessed to the statement. What am I trying to say, because we, her parents always encourage her to say out anything that happens to her, in her school, church just anywhere, God help parents and our Children.
Hmmm...my 11 year old daughter went on an errand and someone said to her FOLLOW ME TO MY HOUSE. Because she could talk with us as her parental she told us immediately we stepped into the house and of course I went after the guy...his nose will continue to bear him witness for ever!

How exactly does a parent bully his children. You mean if I flog my child that's bullying?

I really think some of you guys are taking this thing too far.
Flogging or administration of discipline to a child by a parent or even a teacher isn't bullying, but if you read through my comments I never said correction or discipline is bullying. But when it borders on intimidation just because you can as anyone even as a parent then don't you think that's bullying? And no one is taking this too far. We must talk about it just like anything that needs to be talked about.
While in school in Nigeria I was bullied I never told anyone then and I overcame by God's grace. My 3 kids experienced it but because I had told them my experience they confided in me in good time and I handled the bullies in such a way they'll think thrice before bullying another child!
nextstep:
First of all, RIP to Sylvester.

I'm seeing these posts of abuse and bullying... knowing fully well that these same parents complaining are the worst at abusing their own househelp and even their own children. Then they will come and pen some crap about how it's wrong. Please fix the log in your eye, etc.
Thanks for this!

On one hand, some of these bullies actually picked it up from HOME! Do you know that most mothers bully their kids without admitting it? What about fathers? They are not left out as they too in a bid to show that they're in charge they bully wives and this trickles down to the children.
Let's look inwards, how you treat your kids reflect on them.
How you treat your husband/wife is seen by the children!
How you treat your domestic servants isn't hidden either... Since you can get away with it so also the child who become a bully feels powerful!!

When a girl says I'm in a relationship, believe her and leave her alone o. Be friends with her if you want friendship but never force, beg, or coerce.

Sometimes, men push women to marry them by being tooooooo persuasive, sending relatives to beg women to marry them and especially when a woman tells you she has a serious relationship yet you compel, coerce and connive to convince her. The results are mostly what brings this kinda situation.

This idea may even be the worst alot of students are already fending for themselves through hookup n yahoo as majority of them are from poor homes...... instead parents should try and provide adequately for their kids untill they graduate n get jobs, most girls won't go into prostitution and boys into yahoo it's mainly their parents fault that they venture into these things
ok, but understand my point, in this life there are good and bad people we are all aware of that, so if good upbringing is inculcated in a child with the true dignity in labour then a person will grow well in a decent environment. Yahoo yahoo and hookup no be decent job even if its "paying" at the moment. So parents dont need to provide everything because most parents cant afford everything!
Anyone willing to excel will definitely do so even in a bad environment but with proper advice and grooming the chances are better. I always say, if as a guy you can kiss agirl then you are old enough to fend for yourself. Dont go and be sleeping with a girl then asking your parents for chop and handout money
EducationRe: Our Boys Woo All With Benz On Campus by jaszplus12(m): 10:34am On Dec 03, 2021
when we start overprotecting and pampering our children and sit with the educational system and make it viable and plan it in such a way to allow these students work and pay their own school fees and meet their own basic essentials then this attitude will diminish as much as possible.
when every aspect of a students life is in the hands of his or her parent then the result is idleness and lazy attitude. They should work part time and make ends meet else the future will be hard on them. too much time on their hands is the cause of all these freedom to roam free.
once i met a guy who was in his third year at the university and i asked him if he has anything he does for a living as side hustle to add to what his parents give him he said no, then i asked him if he has a girlfriend he said yes, then i asked how he takes care of her and himself, he smiled. It means the small change his parents give him is what he also spends with his girlfriend!
those who have lived abroad or schooled there will tell you that students loans are obtained and paid back, this means you must work hard to offset this loan right after school! the thouhgt of that will give you nightmares and make you up and doing! But when we are entitled to everything as students because our parents will "take care of everything" then time on their hands .... they roam free! And engage in unwholesome activties!

This was actually why I thought the gifts would go in the tomb. I read your comment about the gifts accompanying him and thought of the ancient Egyptians who were buried with what were known as grave goods. These were personal belongings, foods/favorite foods, drinks, games, furniture, etc., needed to provide the dead with what they would need in the afterlife. Was this symbolic feature of the ceremony channeled after the ancient Egyptians' funerary practice?
Thank you again. The tradition requires the gifts to be presented in front of guest and only symbolicly "accompanying" the deceased.
The Egyptian culture is different and I think more elaborate and interesting too.

Oh okay. Thanks for the explanation. You could've said it was "symbolic" earlier but your use of the word "accompanying" made it seem like they somehow go with him, lol. smiley
thanks for the correction. I think the 'accompanying' aspect is like the one the ancient Egyptians did to the Pharoahs old. They loaded the tombs with provisions and other items to take with him to the afterlife!

usually the gifts are shared to family members after the internment, so it is only symbolic as though he is been given provisions going to the hereafter
