Health › Re: 416 New COVID-19 Cases, 115 Discharged And 12 Deaths On June 1 - ( 2003 Tested) by Jman06(m):

Many don't still believe that this virus has already spread right before now. The reason why it wasn't much then was because of less testing centres. But now that we have testing centres in almost all the state, then we shouldn't be surprise with the rise in numbers. The more the testing centres, the more the number of cases.
We should only be concern about the number of death we keep recording daily.
I don't believe those figures anymore! Something is definitely wrong somewhere.

I know that covid-19 is real, but given how contagious the virus is, if we had over ten thousand people infected already as claimed by NCDC, that means a very large number of Nigerians would have been infected. And if that was the case, we would have been in serious crisis now with many people dying and others in critical conditions requiring use of ventilators even from among the untested populace!
We all saw what happened in Europe and America.

We all know that the sham called lockdown couldn't have helped prevent the spread of the real virus and that our poor healthcare system couldn't have become so super overnight in treating infected people.

A lot of things are not just adding up.

I think ASUU should be concerned about correcting any genuine irregularities in salaries arising from adoption of the IPPIS platform. I know some civil servants who initially had their salaries slashed by the system but have been fully paid all the shortages.

This strike was uncalled for!

Doctorate for 1 additional year only?most of those drugs, diseases, food & other drugs interactions, side effects & drugs info are been spelt out in drugs leaflets since time immemorial I am sure it is not a new course.
It is not done in one year alone like you thought. What obtains is that the Bpharm curriculum is expanded and made more robust hence stretching into the sixth year. There's 2years of clinical rotation which starts from the penultimate year until graduation and during this period, students are posted to different hospitals for training.

Not all information are on drugs' leaflets. Besides, not every patient understands the terms used in writing those leaflets. Also, the last thing on a sick patient's mind would be reading the leaflets of his/her drugs. It's just like expecting patients to make their own diagnosis relying on information on google.

Treatments with drugs sometimes present some complications to the patient's condition and it takes a well trained pharmacist to detect those drug-related problems while the attention of the physician is called to such problems in a professional manner for possible adjustments.

This na doctor by hook,an extra one yr suppose gives master degree not D.pharm.
No matter how long a lizard stays inside river it can never be a croc.
Most of them will end up setting up drug shops or be dispensers in government hospitals,we cannot make drugs in nigeria, but to be importing drugs from China,India & vietnam...all we know is carrying big big certificates
Just thinking aloud.
You're still analog in your thinking. Pharm.D has since replaced B.Pharm in most countries of the world and that is why our B.Pharm graduates cannot practice in developed countries except after undergoing a conversion program.

Having said the above, be informed that Pharm.D is a professional doctorate degree and not a substitute for a PhD. Also, the aim of awarding the degree is not to displace or usurp the duties of medical doctors like some insecure Nigerian medical doctors think. The aim is to train pharmacists who are grounded in not only drug making and dispensing but who understand disease conditions and how drugs interact with diseases, food, other drugs etc. This is to enable them properly counsel and monitors patients when they're being treated with drugs. The benefits of having such pharmacists are innumerable and serve not only the patients but the healthcare system and government as a whole.

You know, two days ago I still had a discussion like this with my mom after she had issued the general recommendation to pray to God to help Nigeria as a country. I told her Nigeria is in our hands, not Gods. I sincerely believe that. That the fate of a person or group of persons is indeed in their hands, and not in the deities that we Nigerians are more often than not ready to blame for everything.

Just imagine what this country would look like by now, if all the shared delusional expectation in God's intervention had been replaced with a conscientious nationalist and patriotic readiness to make things work individually and collectively!...

I really do hope that the eyes of many more Nigerians will be open after this COVID19 palaver, that in the end, our religious obsession has counted for almost nothing.
I really hope it does open their eyes.

Hmmmmm

The great Lauretta Obakpolo!

This your story is really touchy! Some of us never heard about it before now, even while we were campaigning for you that year.
Anyway, the good thing is that your story has taken a happy turn and I know you'll continue to soar from glory to glory. All I see around you are potentials. Keep the fire burning!

As for your experience at UNN, I'm glad you've put that behind you. Please, never let that experience influence your professional and social life with your colleagues and friends in any shape. Let forces of nature judge the actions of men as they have always done.

Why are men of these days so lazy and dependent on women? I just dont get it.

So if his wife buys him a car he will drive it happily? What about pride? Chivalry? What about self dignity?

That aside, do you know the bond between the lady and her mother? So because he gave her a ring, he thinks he is now more important than her own mother? What has he done to earn such privilege?

Lazy men everywhere looking to live off their wives. If your friend cannot keep trekking let him buy himself a car, simple!
Not that I support the man for his position on the subject, but I wonder what would be your reply if the reverse was the casehuh

I mean, how many of you ladies would stomach the idea of your husbands buying a car for his mom when you the wife has nonehuh

Are you ready to pay the sacrifice should the government privatilize public universities?
Of course, I'll pay. Enough of all the incessant strikes!

The strikes contribute greatly to the poor quality of graduates we produce in this country. It has a lot of negative effects on students both psychologically and economically.

If the purported benefits of the strikes are weighed against the many disadvantages, one may find out that ASUU strikes don't really serve the interests of the students.

I wish ASUU could find alternative means of engaging the government instead of strikes!

I think it's high time government privatized all our public universities and set machineries in motion for strict regulation.

Enough of all these incessant strikes that have bedeviled our university system with the students at the receiving ends!
Imagine studying for a few months and then going on strike for the rest of the year. Who would learn under such broken academic calendarhuh
And people still wonder why we keep producing half baked graduates?

Like someone already suggested, your brother may need to be relocated to an environment far away from his current location. After the next rehab, he should be taken far away to a new environment where he won't readily have access to the drug.

Take him away from his current cycle of suppliers, destroy his SIM card(s) and every other means of contacting his "friends" and suppliers.

The average Nneka and Adetutu has been conformed by the society to believe that her worth and life purpose is tied to marriage. And without marriage she is nothing and cannot make it in life.

If you think outside the box and cage that the society has put you in you will be labelled and called all sorts of names for thinking differently.

The white or oyinbo society is quite different because they give room for new ideas and do not force you to conform due to the fact that they have evolved. They were once like us too.

Bros, you too, failed her.
Which complications of typhoid and malaria did she have, and had been having for years??
Why is every sickness interpreted as typhoid and malaria in Nigeria??
And you were buying drugs from the pharmacy to treat those so-called, self-diagnosed complications of typhoid and malaria, instead of going to the hospital for early and proper diagnosis and care.
You only went to the hospital when her condition had already became critical and probably irreversible, and then, expected a miracle to happen.
That's the usual trend in Nigeria.
Bros, the negligence, misdiagnosis, and wrong treatment started from you. There's no complications of malaria and typhoid one could suffer for years, especially in this era of bountiful antibiotics and antimalarials.
Your mother was most probably never correctly diagnosed till her death, and you contributed significantly to that.
Let us always play our own roles properly first, before expecting others to do same to theirs.
May her gentle soul continue to rest peacefully in the Lord.
I can even bet my last kobo that they didn't go to a proper pharmacy to buy the drugs! They'll continue patronizing quacks but when problems arise they claim they went to a pharmacy! I blame PCN sha

You should know that there's always this subtle competition in families, even among siblings. Such competitions are normal provided they are healthy and no one is going for the kills or trying to stop others through diabolical means. So, you guys should take their attitudes as normal display of competition until you have good evidence that any of them is going diabolical. Just be smart in relating with them for now.
