If these PDP aspirants are wise, they'll relax and join forces with Obaseki to win Edo state from APC. Obaseki will serve his remaining 4yrs and by 2024, it'll be a smooth ride for PDP.
As it is now, PDP needs Obaseki's clouts to snatch Edo state from APC. Without Obaseki in the race for PDP, APC will have field day in rigging the election should Obaseki decide to play neutral. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Couldn't Science Save The World's Most Developed Nations From Covid-19? by Jman06(m): 8:21am On Jun 23, 2020 |
BackllGodNaija: Why Couldn't Science Save The World Most Scientifically Advanced Nations From Covid-19?
When I observed the extent to which nations, such as, the USA, China, the UK, Japan, Italy...struggled to contain the spread of the deadly virus, I said to some persons that it was only God that could save Africa from the virus, because Africa doesn't have anything, so if the deadly virus could render such world powers so helpless, how much more Africa?
The aforementioned are just about the most scientifically advanced and developed nations on Earth, and the two of them on that list, namely USA and UK were ranked as the top two nations most prepared to handle such a pandemic. However when Covid-19 struck their shores, they seemed the least prepared for it, as they both recorded the most deaths from the virus, with the US toping the dreaded list, and the UK next on the list before Brazil recently leapfrogged them into the second position.
"How are the mighty fallen" is perhaps the most suitable phrase to describe the unfolding events which must have come as a great shock to many, to see how a so-called "common" virus could bring all those world powers, with all their scientific prowess and technological advancements, to their knees, and consequently their nations to a complete standstill.
Some even called it, the "unseen enemy", however the gravity of its resultant devastation, destruction and disruption unleashed upon their respective nations, by far exceeded those of their visible enemies.
Something quite baffling yet, was the relatively low death rates recorded in Africa as a whole from Coronavirus compared to those of the developed world. I saw a stat some days ago that showed that about 6,000 people had lost their lives to the virus in Africa and I was quite astounded. Because Spain alone, with a population of just 47 million had registered over 25,000 deaths, so for Africa with over 1.2 billion just recording 6,000 deaths from the deadly virus despite that the coronavirus has been in Africa for several months now was quite unbelievable.
Although the figures are most likely to be far-less accurate compared to those provided by the developed nations, the situation on ground suggest it's not that far from the truth. For instance, a lot of people in Nigeria do not believe the figures of Covid-19 cases and deaths being published by the government were authentic. They think it's fabricated because the Covid-19 in Nigeria was not having the same kind of effect on Nigerians as the one they're seeing on TV. Some even believe it's a much milder strain of the virus, and a certain politician who contracted the virus and later recovered, even questioned the difference between "corona and malaria".
So it's obviously not having the same devastating impact in the underdeveloped continent compared to her developed counterparts. If it really was, it'd be really hard to conceal, for dead bodies would be clearly seen littering the place, especially in somewhere like Lagos, which has serious overpopulation and overcrowding issues.
So what could have been responsible for this very low death-rate from Covid-19 in Africa compared to those of the developed world?
I believe it's God helping Africa, because if not God, who else?
*It's obviously not science or technology because Africa is the least continent on Earth in that field.
*It's obviously not the "washing of hands" etc. and cleanliness, for Africa cannot possibly be cleaner than those developed nations in that aspect.
*It's obviously not because Africans were healthier than them, because if that were to be the case, Africans wouldn't have both a much lower life expectancy and higher mortality rate compared to those of the most developed nations.
So i believe it's the hand of God, coming to the rescue of the most vulnerable continent in the world, otherwise, considering what Coronavirus was able to do to the "almighty" USA, which is arguably the most scientifically and technologically advanced nation on this planet, also ranked as the most prepared nation for such a pandemic, Africa, which would be the least prepared for such, could hardly have survived it.
Covid-19 seemed to have reduced the most developed nations to the level of the underdeveloped ones according to Mr President, but I believe that's even a huge understatement, because Nigeria and Africa as whole have been able so far to grapple with the spread and impact of the virus better, but not by their scientific power or technological might, but by the hand of God.
It appears the world has seen the worst of coronavirus, as things are gradually returning the norm, as calm is slowly being restored, but even if this event fades into history, the scars it leaves behind would be indelible for ages to come, as the world would never be the same again even after it had long gone.
Covid-19 has surely exposed the truth about the limitations of science, especially for those who put their trust in science, that science and all of its best technology can still fail man.
But not God to those who put their trust in Him, because God can never fail.
Proverbs 3:5-8
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
God bless Nigeria.
Your God saves Africa while allowing the rest of the world to perish What does that make your God A sadist I guess! |

ORIENTATION101: politics is local, PDP have been winning presidential elections in Edo since 1999 with house of reps and senators but they dont have single lawmakers in Edo Assembly.
APC cleared the whole 24 seats in Edo Assembly meaning Edo vote APC in local , PDP in National because of their horrible experience in the hands of PDP during their locust years as Governor of the state And you think the 24 seats were won in a free and fair contest? |

profmicky: Dreamer APC had no base in Edo state aside Obaseki's government! He was the pillar holding the party in the state before now. Oshiomole failed to take that into cognizance before he selfishly decided to disqualify him. Are you aware that PDP has 2 out of 3 senatorial seats and 6 out the house of reps seats in Edo state?? What does that tell you? Even all the 'iyes' and 'babas' that I know on the streets of Benin city are PDP supporters! Last guber election in the state was rigged in favor of APC. People were intimidated and brutalized for voting PDP at different polling units while many were chased away and prevented from voting. All Obaseki needs to do is to join forces with those PDP bigwigs and put kabaka and his boys in checks. |

I'm also aware that as a pre-inductee I can be employed as a locum pharmacist under the supervision of a superintendent pharmacist. Anyone that passed through this stage knows this. Thanks though. As a pre-inductee, you don't have the right to be employed as a locum pharmacist. It's only a privilege if you get so employed and that is why you're encouraged to go to the place where you did your IT, perhaps they might accord you that privilege based on the relationship you had with them during IT. Locum pharmacists are licensed pharmacists who chose not to work on full-time basis. |

Investnow2017: What is your point? I can't get it please. . I implied in my post you quoted that if over ten thousand people had been infected so far, it then means that the virus would have permeated the Nigerian populace more than being reported. If that was the case, then we would have been in a crisis situation where more people would have been in critical conditions requiring respiratory support with more fatalities being recorded. Now, how does my statement above call for you trying to lecture me about number of active cases, discharged cases and those symptomatic or asymptomatic? As if I didn't know already And as if those discharged were not part of the over ten thousand total infections? |

Investnow2017: Do you even try to read at all? Though the cases have reached 10,000+ some out of this have been discharged and some are dead, leaving a balance of some 7,000+. Out of the 7,000 the report is clear that only less than 10 patients are in serious or critical condition. Some 98% of those that have tested positive are mild to moderate, and majority are asymptomatic. I think wise ones should rather spend their time thanking God than wasting their raising unwarranted doubts which are detrimental to those who want to stay safe. . Whether recovered, dead, mild, symptomatic or asymptomatic, they're all infected cases. So my dear, you made no sense! |
