With the FD, I believe you are good to go. If you like, you can also get a letter of non-idebtedness. If not, you should still be ok.
ottawasenators:
Thanks to both of you for your kind feedback.

Now, i received my reference letter from the bank and noticed that for the average 6 months balance, what was specified was account balance as at day letter was issued.

Although i made it very clear that what i wanted was 6 months average balance and relationship manager was like, that's hard work for them to achieve since their system does not keep that information.

Well, i hope this is fine?

Canada is spending $113 millions on pre-arrival services over the next 4yrs.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/immigration-hussen-trudeau-funding-1.4964943

Those of us with PPR, let's take advantage of them before landing. They have already been paid for.

Only online sessions for Nigeria though, so no in-person Planning for Canada sessions.

Check page 1 for HR under "All about getting jobs".
TITILOLA88:
Happy new year guys!

I hope to get my PR soon and I would love to switch careers...to the HR industry. I do not have any background knowledge or experience and I know in order to start, I will definitely go back to school, for a diploma. Is there anything that I should be doing while getting ready for school? Courses and certifications maybe, or better still, online courses? Your inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

It is a complex something. Canada issues 2 types of work permits: Open work permits and Employer-specific work permits. Nigerians are eligible for either if they meet the criteria.

For Open work permit, you may be eligible if:
are an international student who graduated from a designated learning institution and are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program
are a student who’s no longer able to meet the costs of your studies (destitute student)
applied for permanent residence in Canada
are a dependent family member of someone who applied for permanent residence
are the spouse or common-law partner of a skilled worker or international student
are the spouse or common-law partner of an applicant of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
are a refugee, refugee claimant, protected person or their family member
are under an unenforceable removal order
are a temporary resident permit holder
are a young worker participating in special programs
see here

As you can see, all these require you to have some sort of Canadian connection. No agent can get that for you unless he/she lies in your application.

Employer-specific work permits is where it gets messy. These permits are issued under 2 programs:
Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and International Mobility Program (IMP).

For TFWP, your employer must raise a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before you can be given the work permit. Basically, your employer must prove that no Canadian or permanent resident is available to take the job (see here).

The conditions for IMP are:
i. generally the same as for open work permits, only this time the permits are employer-backed (a Nigerian can get such if he/she also qualifies for open permit)
ii. Intra-company transfer (if you company has a branch in Canada and transfers you)
iii. based on international agreements. Certain ctitizens of US, Mexico, EU, Australia , NZ etc (Nigeria is not there).
iv. others
see here, here, here

So basically for employer-specific, the agent must guarantee you a job with a LMIA.
princesschuks:
This is my belief too. I've been discouraging someone from paying an agent 1.5m for work permit. Told him to apply for EE but he's just stubborn.

Pls can someone confirm Nigerians can get work permit? The 1.5m is paining me even if it's not my money.

1. I think people seem have done that and were ok. My thinking on that is that for employment, you are going to put the year you became qualified to practice which is the year you graduated from your undergrad, so it makes sense to include your B.Sc. I included my B.Sc and choose did not get an ECA. I submitted my proof of studies post-ITA.

2. I didn't claim points for NYSC, but I think you can do either. When I filled my personal history, I used my ppa with NYSC in bracket as that is comprehensive.
soulhighman:
Thanks and please let me quickly ask a quick question on two things that are bothering me.

1. I only filled my Msc in my profile since it is the only one I did eca and claiming points for. I didn't add my other educational certificates cos I intend to put it in my personal history.
2. I input only my ppa instead of NYSC or typing both my ppa and NYSC (in bracket) as employer.

I've been considering whether to withdraw my profile and resubmit another self, cos I don't want CIC Wahala.

I believe LOEs should be adequate in both cases. In this scenario, you may also add the stamped visa pages of your passport when uploading your passport biodata page.
dives:
Hello Guys, I have two issues

Firstly, I have an overlap of the date I put as my day of completion of my second degree, and my date of travel; I travelled at some point "äfter" my second degree. This is exactly what happened. I finished my second degree - lectures, exams and all - in March of 2017, but results were not approved until November of 2017 and my certificate says Nov 2017 so I put November 2017 as the day I completed my second degree. Unfortunately, along the line, June 2017 to be precise, I travelled out so my passport has a stamp of June 2017. Now I am trying to reconcile my personal history and there is this overlap. Do you guys think a LOE is enough to clarify this?

Secondly, my date of travel is June 2017, but I accidently filled July pre-ITA so I have correctly filled June in my post-ITA form. Is a LOE also enough to clarify this?

Thanks guys.

LOTRISH45:
Can we all focus on why we are here than all these back and forth diatribe about who was banned and why? I have also observed that most questions being asked now were already answered in few back pages. Does this imply that people are not making effort to read up previous pages anymore before jumping to ask questions? Nobody will baby sit anyone through this process if you don't help yourself by going through previous pages.

You log on here and you meet 5, 6 new pages all littered with previously answered questions.

Only the Reference letter + latest FD certificate.
If you are planning on adding the older certificates to prove that it has been your money all along, then it might be best to also add a LOE to avoid confusing the case agent.

You can do it in SA.

Make sure you change your current address when you get back to SA by raising a CSE.

Hello people. I am a Nigerian but doing my PhD in South Africa. I have my ITA and I am presently in Nigeria for the Xmas break will submit my PPR application before I return to SA. If I am told to do my biometrics at VFS, is it possible I do it at VFS in SA or I must do it at VFS in Lagos?

Good day everyone. I just created my express entry profile, CRS score of 450 and I was deemed eligible. I just to share since many people got emails about ineligibility.

I input 12700 CAD.

1.The passport is your priority document for biographical data for EE. You might need to go to immigrations to change the passport.

2. No, but if you have large inflows into your account within 6 months, you must be ready to explain.

duccious:
Happy new year Fam. I have a problem with my date of birth. It was erroneously written as 1989 on my passport instead of 1987. All other documents bear 1987. Pls how do I handle this?
For POF, must the funds spend minimum of 6 month prior to application submission?

That link will not ask you to provide visa office

Thanks for the reply. The second part is that the link is asking for the visa office processing our application (either in OR out of Canada) and we don't know that. Can we just guess and choose one ?

Interesting observations, @Unlimited22, @CanadianNaija, @jhoci, @olajide21.

Generally, a new thread is opened before the old one is closed. I'm sure the delay in migrating was due to time it was opened and the New Year.

Was there chance to go from 500 pages to 700 on the old thread? Yes and it doesn't matter when you are an old contributor.

But when you are new and just trying to learn about living in Canada on NL, 500 pages might be a lot to search through with the important information scattered throughout the thread. So with a slow moving thread like this, it made sense to stop there and start a new one.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 6 by joo2018: 10:28am On Jan 01, 2019
You can't delete an ineligible profile, you may need to create another one.
ilekzy:
I guess the problem is because of review in the POF that is to take effect this January. Although no update on CIC website but when I checked my eligibility again using a higher amount, I was found eligible.
Should we just create another profile? Do one have to delete the ineligible profile before u can create another one?
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 6 by joo2018: 8:19am On Jan 01, 2019
The profile ineligibility thingy seems to be global, there are reports on canadavisa for the same thing.

Either it is strategic decision or they have changed program requirements. I think we can only wait and put our ears to the ground.
