I can't believe my eyes

This is why i keep telling people that no matter your love for Nigeria and hope that it will get better tomorrow, the fact and reality is that the country is dead and buried.

See how people are defending corruption like their life depends on it.

Corruption is only corruption when they people accused are the ones you hate, when they are those you love, it is no longer corruption. No country will ever make progress with this mindset.
Guys, if you have what it takes to establish another home outside Nigeria, do that now before it is too late.

It is very easy to say Nigeria is the best country in the world after slice bread like most of the foreigners do when addressing Nigeria. Sometimes they say it just to massage our ego, because they know that is what we want to hear.

The guy seem to genuinely love Nigeria and actually wants to tell the country the truth and that is why he is giving examples using China and South Korea. But then, Nigeria and Nigeria don't like the truth. He better tell us lies instead

The standard of an average Nigerian is just too low and this has reflected on the standards of the country as a whole. This is why everything is taken as a joke.
I just pity people who only have Nigerian citizenship because the way things are going, the kind of country that would emerge from this rot 10-20 years from now is going to be an eye sore because decay is growing every year and government.
If you doubt me, look back at Nigeria in 2000, reflect again in 2010 and look at at how today's Nigeria is then imagine how it will be in 10 - 20 years from now angry

The question is what would be the attraction to Nigeria to an average American? Job opportunities? Tourism? education? healthcare?

Instead of all this symbolic announcements that have no real impact on the target, it will be better to focus on developing Nigeria to world class standards that would earn us respect and make the country attractive. Only then will this kind of thing make sense.

Bad news for Africa. More brain drain coming.
Except they go democratic and become a free nation like the west, Japan and South Korea, China is not going to be attractive to any serious person. Even rich Chinese are finding their way out of China buying houses and citizenship all over the west. There are more than 3.5m Chinese in America alone, more than 1.5m in Canada plus millions in Europe and Africa but only 900,000 foreigners in China yet dem get mind to talk rubbish. These pilots that are out of job will immediately reduce their spending. That means no more holiday, no buying new car etc The hotels have one less customer, the car dealer that would have sold a car next week will not sell. Some people's businesses have collapsed these period because of low patronage. You see the connection?

Don't blame your uncle, blame yourself. I'm sorry to say this, you are weak like the op. There is nothing wrong in helping. However, it becomes a problem when someone is clearly manipulating and taking advantage of you. You see it yourself yet you do not have the will power to say no and put a stop to it. A person is weak when he/she is incapable of saying no even when he is hurting. The op is aware he is being manipulated not once not twice yet........Even the brother of the people manipulating him is strong enough to shun them, op carry them for head. This is weakness and he needs to be flogged.

I agree completely that all preventable deaths should be prevented. But why are you lot so desperate to prevent only Covid-19 deaths?

The government allows Boko Haram and Herdsmen to slaughter 1000s of citizens every year. More than 100k maternal mortalities every year, more than 50k road accident deaths every year, I can go on and on. Malnutrition and poor access to proper medical care kills millions every year. Does these other lives not matter?

The globalists, through their media propaganda machines, have succeeded in brainwashing you lot to think that covid-19 is the worst thing to befall humanity. A virus with a 98% recovery rate and less than 0.2% case fatality rate.

I repeat, if this is about public health and saving lives, the government has more important issues to worry about.

TravelRe: by Kenn55: 2:23am On Jul 23, 2020

You probably missed my point. I was in no way trying to trivialize the Covid-19 deaths.

My point is - why are you so interested in stopping those 1000 Covid-19 deaths but show absolutely no concern whatsoever for the 60k road accident deaths? The reality is - the only reason you rank Covid-19 deaths higher is because the media wants you to...not because it is truly more important. They even tell you to wear a face mask just to create a mass consciousness. You happily wear that nonsense despite the obvious health implications of breathing recycled Co2. Go read about Respiratory Acidosis.
It is not about the media, it is common sense. Road accidents are not contagious and i don't believe authorities are not concerned about road accidents.
In the country where i live, nobody drives a car without passing a road test. You will carry an inspector and drive round inner roads and highway and demonstrate that you understand all road rules and can apply them before you are giving a licence to drive. There are penalties applied when you are caught violating road rules. Yet accidents still kill thousands of people yearly. So what else do you want them to do in that regard? Should they now do nothing about covid because they have not been able to solve the problem of road accidents?

I highlighted why the issue of covid is not just about deaths alone In case you missed it, see below

"Let us also not forget why covid 19 is a problem. It is a problem because it is capable of making large number of people sick at the same time thereby overwhelming current hospital capacities and health care workers. What is means is that even people with other health conditions, pregnant women needing emergencies etc may not be able to see a bed space when needed in the peak of the crisis so they also are in danger plus the fact that they can also contract the disease if they hospital is filled with covid patients. If covid could only sicken say 30 people in a month, nobody would have seen it as a problem as health care systems will handle it."

Media or no media, every life that dies is regrettable. So if there is something that can be done to prevent deaths from covid, i don't think it should be a problem irrespective of the fact that other things are killing people too. If someone escape death by accident, should covid now kill the person?

Besides nobody wears masks 24/7. It is only required in public places. I don't wear mask all the time even though i go out because i'm not always in a public place. If masks was that dangerous, what of people who wear them everyday as part of their PPE in normal times?
TravelRe: by Kenn55: 1:53am On Jul 23, 2020
sweetmelanin:
First of all coronavirus is not a death sentence. Those who have lost their lives had severe underlying issues, are elderly or immunocompromised.

Secondly, if you are wearing a mask and you truly believe it gives you ultimate "protection", how does the next man's refusal to wear one affect you in anyway? Afterall you've got your mask on!
Some people think because they are not elderly or immunocompromised therefore they are 100% healthy but that reasoning is fatally flawed. Someone could have underlying health conditions without even knowing. Besides, why should the elderly or immunocompromised allowed to die if it can be preventable? Would you be happy if your elderly grandma dies as a result of covid? Or if a diabetic person you know die due to covid complications? If they have to die, let them die at their appointed time not because of covid.

According to official figures on the WHO website, road accident kills over 60k per year in Nigeria. Last time I checked, total number of deaths from Covid-19 is less than 1k.

If it's about public health and saving lives, should the government not be more concerned about road accidents? Also, as some of those accidents are a result of irresponsible behaviors (like over speeding), should the government not enforce a 15km/hr speed limit on all highways, so that irresponsible drivers like you (who like to do over 100km/hr) will not cost the lives of other innocent road users? Go figure!
If there was no corona virus or if there was a way to stop it, that less than that 1k Nigerians as you said would probably have been alive today. These are people's mother, father, sisters, brothers, children, breadwinners. They are not just mere statistics. It could be you tomorrow but i pray it shall never get to you. Probably you do not know anyone who has died due to covid, i know someone who could have been alive today if not for covid. He was bouncing and okay as at July 1st but he is no more today. How do you think his family he left behind is feeling?

Let us also not forget why covid 19 is a problem. It is not just because it is killing people but it is also a problem because it is capable of making large number of people sick at the same time thereby overwhelming current hospital capacities and health care workers. What is means is that even people with other health conditions, pregnant women needing emergencies etc may not be able to see a bed space when needed in the peak of the crisis so they also are in danger for lack of care plus the fact that they can also contract the disease if they hospital is filled with covid patients. If covid could only sicken say 30 people in a month, nobody would have seen it as a problem as health care systems will handle it.

So what is being fought is not just the covid but to ensure that health care system is not overrun and put others who do not have covid but will need health care system in danger.

Or maybe you want people to keep dying of corona virus after all malaria and accident also kill more people? Why would we allow more avenues of death rather than reducing the avenues people could die. Are we then making the world a more dangerous place or trying to make it better? Just think about it for a second

And if they make the vaccination compulsory?
Nobody is going to make vaccination compulsory at least not in western societies. You can see how it is even hard to make mask compulsory in the west not to talk of compulsory vaccination. Not everyone take flu shots every year that kills thousands of people yearly and it was not made mandatory. The only places where vaccinations can be made compulsory are places like China, North Korea, middle east where leaders have absolute powers. People will go to court if they make vaccinations compulsory in the west.

In fact, there are more chances of vaccines made mandatory in Nigeria than in the west. If Buhari really wants to make vaccination compulsory today, who will stop him? The courts? he can decide not to obey court order citing national security and there is nothing you can do about it. If you protest, police will use you as a target practice.

When the vaccine comes out, it would have passed through all trial stages and confirmed to be okay for people. The stages of these trials are not secret, you can read about them. This is how all the vaccines today were created. The polio, tb etc vaccines children take today were created as a result of a pandemic decades ago

When it comes out, those who do not have problem taking flu vaccines every year will still take it and they are the majority. Once majority take it, it won't be a problem anymore as hospitals will not be overwhelmed which is the most important thing in a pandemic. The target will be for majority to take it as it happens during flu shots. Conspiracy theorists are just killing themselves for nothing, nobody send them sef but they don't even know grin

The conspiracy theorist who don't take it will go to the hospital normally when they fall ill like they would go if they have flu and also survive or die.

To me, i don't understand conspiracy theorists. If you or your children have taken any form of vaccine before, then i don't understand the big deal about vaccines. But if they have any other way of making the society return to normal, they are free to do it yet they won't provide any solution but are always looking at who wants to kill them.

I felt your pain as i read through your post. However, i will advise you to let sleeping dogs lie. The reason is that what you want to know will break you and make you more miserable. Are you sure you can handle the info? Apart from that, it will break your father's family, in fact, the whole family will be shaken. This is the reason why no one wants to talk about it. It is not palatable to the ears.

The woman who gave you this info has an agenda. It is either she wants to break your whole family or she has a genuine burden in her heart to let you know your true sef, the secret is heavy on her. I can sense she is mixing the right info with some half truths in order to confuse you. The reason is that she does not want to be the one to tell you exactly, who knows if there was an oath taken involved. However, she is given you some clues with the hope that you can find the missing link yourself.

I have an idea on what could likely have happened by connecting the dots in your post but saying it as it is may make you feel very terrible. That is why i am advising you to move on with your life. Some things are better left unknown.
