Michael004: By Wale Abideen; The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu yesterday in a chat with a few journalists dismissed as “the ranting of idiots” a trending story that Lagos is not a Yoruba land. Speaking at the Jumat service held at the Lagos Central Mosque yesterday. The Oba said those who wish to distort the history of Lagos the “undisputable Yoruba seal” are free to do so but that “facts are different from fiction.” The Oba stated “I have not issued any statement on the origin of Lagos. Its unfortunate that idiots and vagabound have taken over the cyber space. As a king, I do not need to respond to any silly statement I read on the internet.” He said anybody who says Lagos is not Yoruba land “must be an idiot”.The Oba said it is not in his character to discuss issues of importance and royalty with “unstable minds” whom he said are out to distort the “legendary Yoruba history of which Lagos ia proud of”. He said “let those people say anything they like. They can even say that Lagos belongs to Iraq. But the truth is that “history of Lagos and her Yoruba heritage dates back to 10th century which no one can eraze.” |

Sinistami: Thanks again for another great submission. I know of the Saros and Krios though and that was the confusing thing about it. I was wondering how Ijo that had oral traditions of settling in the Nigerdelta now come with Europeans in ships, like how? First off, it is the Kru men or people of Liberia that worked on European ships across West Africa. During the Akassa raid in the late 1800s, a lot of white men and Krus were captured, killed, and canibalized by the Ijaws as contained in the history books. A lot of the Saros were liberated Yoruba returnees who settled in Yorubaland, on mainly Lagos Island and Abeokuta in the 1800s. Some of them bought captured slave ships in the 1800s from the British in Sierra Leone, and converted them into merchant ships which sailed up the River Niger from the Niger Delta region buying commodities and exporting to West Africa and Europe. These men became very wealthy and are known in the history books as the "African Merchant Princes." These rich men even sent their children to school in top British universities before 1900. Saros who were formerly slaves of Efik and Ibo origins settled in Calabar. Hope this helps. |

MICHASHERKOSTO: Ijaw language has great similarities with twi people of Asante Ghana, so I might not doubt, since they usually migrate. Migrating through from Ghana, through Benin republic to Niger Delta is same sea route, not hard.....
Follow @michasherkosto on IG Yup! The Ijaws and Ogoni people are definitely majorly fishermen migrants from Ghana. The head of the Ogoni Traditional Council in Rivers State confirmed bluntly 3 or 4 years ago in a Saturday Punch interview that Ogoni is a fusion of people from Ghana and Ibibioland. He said Ogoni language shares strong similarities with languages spoken in Ghana! |

erico2k2: in the UK we have what we call a tax code, this is the amount of money you need to earn above in order to pay tax If you earn below this amount you won't pay any tax. The max tax u can pay as a salary earner in the UK is 40% these are for those earning above 40k and it's only applicable to the overspill of the 40k ie 41K U will pay 40% on 1k. If you earn anything from 15k to 40k and your tax code is 1171, this means your taxation would be calculated withing 40k-1171. However, if you do not have a tax code yet ie you just started a new job etc you will be taxed at a basic rate(BR) which is flat 20%. Everyone's tax code is different, married people with families are different from single and young people! So for those of you thinking 50% is going to be taken from your earned monies I say this stop speculating and assuming, ask people who live, work and earn in them cities for the right Info to boost your knowledge. saratackit: I saw a feature called the THEFT ALERT and I decided to read more on it... HERE is summary on what I got
THEFT Alerts is a Premium feature that gives you the information you need to recover your device if it has been stolen. Lookout will send you an email to let you know when one of the following actions has been taken on your device:
Multiple failed passcode attempts in a row* Your SIM card has been removed or replaced Airplane Mode has been enabled Your device has been powered off* Lookout's Device Admin capabilities have been disabled* *Android only
The email will include the location of your device, and if you are on Android, a photo taken with the front-facing camera. You can choose which behaviors you want to be alerted on at any time...
As easy as that, or is there a simpler way to go about this? |

I even got a notification when the phone made it to computer village, probably to try and flash it. Up till the time the phone landed on the hands of a lady, kept getting her snapshot sent to my email then. I would have easily recovered that phone if I involved the police but just chose to not bother. That's an awesome feature. "Lookout." |
Romance › Re: The Five Toughest Questions Women Ask To Men by Konquest: 9:06am On Nov 03, 2021 |
Chrisrare: There are five questions that a woman should never, ever ask her man unless of course you want him to lie to you. The five questions are:
1. "What are you thinking right now?" 2. "Do you love me?" 3. "Do I look fat?" 4. "Do you think she is prettier than me?" 5. "What would you do if I died?"
What makes these questions so bad is that any of those questions can lead to a major argument and/or divorce if the man does not answer properly, which is to say dishonestly.
Below is the detailed analysis of each question, which in turn provides the best possible answer. Also the most commonly used wrong answers are listed.
1. What are you thinking? The proper answer to this question, of course is, "I'm sorry if I've been pensive, dear. I was just reflecting on what a warm, wonderful, caring, thoughtful, intelligent, beautiful woman you are and what a lucky guy I am to have met you." Obviously, this statement bears no resemblance whatsoever to what the guy was really thinking at the time, which was most likely one of the following things:
Football! How fat you are. How much prettier she is than you. How one game cut his ticket The containers he's expecting... And so on
2. Do you love me? The correct answer to this question is, "Yes." For those guys who feel the need to be more elaborate, you may answer, "Yes, dear". Wrong answers include:
I suppose so. Would it make you feel better if I said yes. That depends on what you mean by "love". Does it matter? Who, me?
3. Do I look fat? The correct male response to this question is to confidently and emphatically state, "No, of course not." and then quickly leave the room. Wrong answers include:
I wouldn't call you fat, but I wouldn't call you thin either. Compared to what? A little extra weight looks good on you. I've seen fatter. You say what?
4. Do you think she's prettier than me? The "she" in the question could be an ex-girlfriend, a passer-by you were starring at so hard that you almost cause a traffic accident or an actress in a movie you just saw. In any case, the correct response is, "No, you are much prettier." Wrong answers include:
Not prettier, just pretty in a different way. I don't know how one goes about rating such things. Yes, but I bet you have a better personality. Only in the sense that she's younger and thinner. You say what?
5. What would you do if I died? Correct answer: "Dearest love, in the event of your untimely demise, life would cease to have meaning for me and I would hurl myself under the front tires of the first trailer that came my way." This might be the stupidest question of the lot.
So how have you been answering these questions? And for those that have been answering these questions wrongly, you will do well to take a leaf from the aforementioned tips.

Maryliola: Hey guys
I’m making this post because I don’t want to be judged and I can’t turn my on people in my real life because they may not understand. Well I’ve been married for 2 plus years I’m 27 with a son. I’m going to get personal so embrace yourself.
Myself and my husband have a good relationship, almost too good because I literally see him like my brother. This is to the point where our romantic/lover side of our relationship is kinda dead. I see him naked, it’s like looking at my brother naked. I don’t feel turned on, or excited. We talk and gist like friends, but romantically things are flat. Our sex life is mediocre I guess. He doesn’t do oralll sexxx and he ejaculates very fast. I’m talking 10 seconds, and it’s every single time despite taking different preventative measures. I know that I’m extremely clean as I’m very observant of myself and he also tells me all the time. Yet orall sexxx is disgusting to him and “dehumanising”. There’s no passion when we kiss, its forced most times.
Lately I’ve been finding myself fantasising about being touched by a man , almost every night . A man that will give me orall sexx a man that will turn me on and blow me away. I don’t want to be judged here, but this is genuinely how I’ve been feeling. I don’t want to put pressure on my husband as he has other things to worry about. A man that will kiss me in all the right places and make me feel like a woman. Sometimes I believe I’m being delusional, or unrealistic. I’m trying to get rid of these thoughts, but I really don’t know how. I have never cheated on my husband and I don’t think I have the guts to do it. I really just want to know how married people cope when that spark is gone. When you begin to look at your spouse like a brother or sister, and romantically the vibes are not there.
Let me also say that I’ve addressed this to him many times, but he stands he’s not willing to compromise.
Help!
Mods, I need this on front page as I need help for people to see this. @Maryliola I like your audacity for asking folks here for assistance! Your fantasies are perfectly OK... I'll be brutally honest here and now from a male perspective. 1. First off, how old is he? 30s, 40s? 2. Second, most men tend to place women on a pedestal after they've given birth and tend to see the vaginal region as a sacred place. So you have to do kinky stuff to stimulate him visually... i.e., Get some colourful and sexy underwears (a few g-strings), Engage in walk dates, play fights, throw pillows at each other, gaze into each others eyes without saying a word to each other, explore each other's erogenous points from head to toe. The whole house has to smell good of lavender or a cocktail of erotic fragrances. 3. Third get a "cockk ring" for your man to delay ejaculation. 4. Fourth get a dental dam so that the dude can still give some heads without feeling repulsed. There's a lot more powerful stuff in my arsenal, but I'll stop here. Try these out, they work. Ciao.

Those people mentioned don't even qualify as people who created or gave insightful, constructive,or brainstorming topics, they were actually the ones who go about e-fighting and cursing especially coogar and babymama. Only idowu was the comical one.
Nairaland has always been battles upon battles, there was a time it was between Nigerians in diaspora(NID) versus Nigerians in Nigeria(NIN), I remember how bloody that was. Then it was christians versus Muslims versus Atheist battles, then Igbo versus Yoruba wars which is still visible. Then there was the feminism versus anti-feminism wars, which is now male versus female these days. Its always been one war or the other on this forum.
The only noticeable thing now on NL is that the diasporan community on NL has reduced tremendously probably because the NIN no longer care about diasporans and curse everyone equally.,trust me I know cos I was on the NID side of the war back then And guess what, most of the people on that list are all diasporans. @Missjo, Word! With the reclamation of the eroded land back to the new Eko Atlantic City with shoreline protection, skyscrapers built there will be absolutely safe as well like the Burj Arab and others. |

Klass99: Having class involves good manners, politeness, pride without showing off, empathy, humility and an abundance of self-control.
It is also about an ingrained and wonderful upbringing which reflects years later in your adulthood. Class is evident in your words and conduct, you either have it in you or you don't. It is more about your carriage and comportment as a person, than the flashy apparel you wear.
You can buy the latest fashion, gadgets and glam up all you want, but the moment you open your mouth to speak and from the way you behave, we will know whether you have class or not.
I know an oil and gas worker with Exxon Mobil, who is very mgbekelicious in the way he carries himself. With all his wealth, nice clothes and fine car I will never describe him as a man with class. I can say he is a man of means, but class.....hell no.

Pets › Re: How To Identify Quack Veterinary Doctors by Konquest: 10:42pm On Nov 01, 2021 |
seunH: The veterinary profession is one of the most affected professions in terms of quackery, in that sometimes it is very difficult to identify a genuine vet doctor. You would even see some semi-illiterates and diploma holders parading themselves as veterinarians simply because they have an idea of some animal diseases. It is even more worrisome, the confidence and brazenness some of these quacks exhibit because in their minds, they are usually like "its just an ordinary animal". The only way to avoid falling victims to such unscrupulous people is for pet owners to have the capability to be able to distinguish between quacks and genuine doctors, because it may determine the life or death of your pet. The ways in which you can identify a quack are listed below;
1) Its your right as a pet owner to ask questions about whatever condition your animal is suffering from and get a very detailed answer, if your "vet" cannot answer you or is dodgy about the question. Such individual is likely a quack. (Most quacks may be knowledgeable on how to perform the procedure but don't usually know the principles behind such procedure)
2) Stylishly ask which school he/she graduated from if you are suspicious. Presently, we have only 11 vet schools in Nigeria. They include;
(a)Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (b) Federal University Of Agriculture, Abeokuta (c) Federal University Of Agriculture, Makurdi (4) (d) Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture, Umudike (e) University Of Abuja,Abuja (f) University Of Ibadan, Ibadan (g) University Of Ilorin, Ilorin (h) University Of Maiduguri (i) University Of Nigeria Nsukka (j) Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto (I) University Of Jos Most people do not know the schools that offer veterinary medicine, hence tend to make a blunder. It is imperative to take note of the above schools, if their school ain't in any of the above for now, he/she is definitely a quack. "Imagine a "vet" claiming he/she graduated from Unilag"
3) Check the persons carriage, spoken english and dressing, although subjective, it can be a give away
4) Check their price range and desperation for money, it could also be a give away. My dear friends, no veterinarian who spent 6yrs in Vet school would collect 300 naira from you for any procedure in your house !!!
5) Lastly, if they are quick to give judgement on your case without careful and proper diagnosis, such individual is likely a quack.
In conclusion, I believe if the above principles are followed you would be saved from quacks and get better quality treatment for your pets. Deep insights... Great post! |
