gbadexy: I think those additives are plasticisers that allows concrete be cast with little amount of water to form a compact and dense concrete but I don't think that still takes away the fact that the concrete needs the water over a period of time to attain maximum strength. Accelerators may speed up the seeding and the initial setting period but it still needs full hydration for strength. Water is the only major thing that gives concrete it's strength from my understanding and while initial setting could be sped up, the full hydration for maximum strength would still take its own time. Concrete with higher ratio of cement to water made workable with plasticisers would still be far more stronger after proper full hydration than it would be in the first few weeks. Just my opinion from the setting of cement. I believe the major reason why most of those buildings are coming down in opinion, is the compromise in the integrity of the structural Iron component, for example if structural engineer recommends 16mm rods for section of the building with his calculations of weight. When going to purchase materials I’ve seen many 9mm rods label as 12mm and the cost is clear, those are sold for N 1750 each, while the right one and full size of 12 mm is sold N 2,200. The owner have to make decision on which one to buy. l bet you many of them will go for the cheap ones. I don’t understand why the engineer will put his name in line to forge ahead to continue the project when he knew is going to be disaster at the end, just because he wants to make money. In conclusion I think it better for engineers to proper advise their clients the danger of trying to save thousands and end up wasting millions with and people lives. |

mufutau55: It has been talked about and clarified that, that rail construction will not enter NIGER Republic but stopped where Nigeria ends. Will it not be stupid for Nigeria to construct rail road for Niger? Habah!! You guys want to blame Buhari for all these constructions in the North, while your brother was there for 8 years, he cannot even construct road linking Lagos to Abeokuta, his own town and same road he uses to Lagos now very often. Sorry guys, I dont like getting involved in Politics, but this pinched my nerves.
Hajji M. Hajji you don’t know how people manipulate information for their selfish and political interest here. Many of these people are feeding fat from corrupt system, they don’t like or care about any development but what came to their political godfathers pocket and the little koko they get from their corrupt mentors. I wept for this country, we’re talking about regional Integration How do we achieve it without regional transit. |

This is what happens when you target a wrong market.
Your marketing messages will not resonate with them as it did not capitalize on their pain points (how to save BIG on building projects).
This type of marketing will only make you lose potential customers and waste a lot of your marketing nairas.
Change tack. He probably didn't read the headline, can someone direct him to where people are looking for love and affection. rotecch77: We have 3 methods
Pre cast. ( cheapest type but not as strong as others)
Cast in-situ.( it’s the most strongest but most costly than the rest)
Semi cast in-situ( this is very reliable and very strong also a bit cheaper than cast in-situ) this doesn’t need wood work as such, there is a already made steel formwork to do this, this system make it cheaper than the cast in-situ ( 30pec lesser). see Attached pics for the steel formwork. Rotec can we see the finished pictures of this semi steel cast formwork. 30% cheaper is no that much though. |

I’ve never done roofing woodwork of any project on Nairaland with over 1 million naira. Wetin we dey build or buy
Most times, it’s greed of the contractors that always drive up project cost.
Here’s something done with less 1 million naira. Let’s see any 1.5 million naira roofing woodwork and see if there’s any difference. Wetin the contractor wan buy Bosun are all these roofing project done within last 3 months? Or 5 -7 years ago. |

Attached is the original color of the door before painting and finishing Sometimes I don’t know how our people think. Aventures: Dear all,
like i said the foundation work in progress, i will try and update the pix of previous job done.
As usual, the setting out was done and the pile points centers were established.
After, that the real piling job commenced, the method used is called bored pile which involve drilling and concreting simultaneously. The drilling rig suitable is used to drilled to the required diameter and depth. Mean while prior to drilling the pile reinforcement commonly called 'cage' must have been prepared well in advance. As soon as the drilling is abut to be completed concrete preparation commences in earnest. The moment the depth is achieved the whole is flushed i:e removing the soil drilled by close water circulation and drilling chemicals where necessary. Right after that the cage is inserted and concrete is poured with the use of tremming pipes. Well done ooohhh we miss your professionalism display. Welcome back. I'm still saving my kobokobo for future project. |

KolaShangOne: Demography matters. Do not base your conclusion on Lagos, Oyo and ogun states. Nigerians, as a country, contains the poorest people on earth..
That 2.1m Camry is most likely a 13 - 15 year old car. Is that what we call rich? How many Nigerians can but brands new cars?
How many times have you seen a 2019 or 2020 car in Ibadan? Kola, there is no reason to start this debate with you. People that live that life are talking from experience you wont understand it until you live it. I can easily tell you 99% of people in west buy there car on loan. Let me make this clear to you, they don't own those luxury cars you see them driving, the bank does. Please don't compare Nigeria poverty with other Nations like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, China, Myanmar, even Brazil, including America. Do you know people line up for food in America too. So don't think Nigeria is the worst place when it comes to poverty. All those nonsense you're reading from United Nations indexes and mostly not adequate with reality in most of those places. If I tell you today that most westerner's especially the Americans working for over 10-15 years may not have $20,000 cash in their savings bank account; all they have is debts and credit that's not being rich but debt rich. And these are the people according to the United Nations index's on income making average income of $50,000 per year. I drop my pen |

I wasn’t an economic or socially oppressed migrant when I left Nigeria in 1986. That Nigeria was wonderful even though we still complained.
I’m back now but blessed that I can mitigate some of the current issue.
So on the surface it’s shocking that I could love Nigeria this much.
Thanks. Hummmm. Intresting Alhamdulilah X 1000 for you that you can go back and have same love for the country as you left them. Many people are still living in delusion that every one will and can make it outside Nigeria shore. Many of them after wasting their youthful life, then realize it could be better if they stay on and work hard. It’s long story with different experience especially without papers, that alone could waste 10 years of one youthful live. Welcome back ooo |

KolaShangOne: Wichtech is still the best.
People are not using Wichtech only because of the poverty level in this country. Nothing more.
Wichtech attend Tilcor stated making Nigeria grades because they know wer can't afford the "original" because of poverty.
Every company that intends to compete in Nigeria must lower their quality to maintain a price that we Nigerians, the poorest people in the world, can afford. Sir you need to retrieved that comments of Nigeria being the poorest people in the world. You don’t want to see poverty of other nation where people line up for food daily, imagine calling us poorest people. I may agree with you if you say we have leadership problem. Thank God somebody as make comparison with other rich nation. Go and do your research on how US government create wealth for their citizens in 1800 through homes ownership. Imagine government building thousand of homes at average cost of $10,000 then selling them at subsidized price of $5,000 according to people incomes on mortgage to engage their citizens to work till retirement age. That is how it all started okay my man. |
