I have worked all the while since grad. and can boast of having a net worth of 2.5m including the balance in my bank account. Also my uncle is financially liquid enough to stand as my sponsor. What do u think of my chance in regards to proof of funds?
Is your uncle willing to sponsor you or just want to stand as sponsor during the application and when the visa comes out you will do everything yourself? Because if that's the case then your 2.5mill won't be enough to do anything (it doesn't even cover your living expenses for a year, let alone your tuition).

Congratulations bro and all those that got their PPR. Go to Lagos yourself to drip your passport and ask them to send it to you via DHL. Also contact your school letting them know your app has been approved and you have dropped your passport for it to be stamped and you might be late(they will give you around 2 weeks extension).

please gurus in the house. i re-applied June 22 with July 4 medical update to pass shaa. but the issue is that i have to be in fanshawe latest 29th of august for Pgc in Gis which is only for fall term but am actually planning to change to Project management wen i enter canada and embassy have not even said anything on my app. so deferring will be to next fall and i cant wait that long. can i change to project management and defer to winter session or i should wait on embassy reply before i do that. or will it have any effect on my app? i studied geology and mining with Cgpa 2.1. but i dont wanna do two years masters because of time.
Changing course is not CIC's issue, wait for CIC to respond to your app, if they approve it then it will now be between you and your school if they can give you another course.
Though if CIC doesn't attend to you until your first offer letter expires they will ask for an updated one from you, so you can now start contacting your school and asking them about the new offer letter and the possibility of you changing to a course that is offered in winter.

The proposed program is only available on the Advance diploma. The tuition fee is 9,687 Cad. I related linked my first degree to the intended program of study.
If the tuition is 9687cad then the 16k won't be enough, because you have to include your living expenses of at least 10k cad which will total around 20k cad. So you are like 4k cad shot(except if you have other funds that you didn't state in your profile

@Waynee2baba, First degree: 1. Agricultural Economics and Extension.
2. Proposed study: Advanced Diploma in Water quality
3. I submitted my Account statement and that of my sponsor.
4. Sponsor letter
5. Employer consent letter, payslip and employment letter
6. Sop
7. Family ties: Family landed properties, inherited property from my father, sponsor landed property.
8. Sponsor is my sister and she submitted her employment letter, tax clearance and birth certificate.
9. Police clearance form
10. IMMM forms.

P.s: someone was saying since I wasn't sponsoring myself, I shouldn't have submitted my bank statement.

I can forward my SOP to you for review and suggestion. Can I have your email?
If I may ask, why advance diploma and not masters?
You said your sister is committing 16k towards your studies, how much is your tuition fee?
That aside, I think you need to work on your SOP and state how your previous course is related to your intended one.
Also, in your SOP try to explain and give reasons why you will return to Nigeria agter your program in Canada.
About your SOA, that's not the problem. As a matter of fact, including your SOA is a plus to you(don't mind what that person said )

This your post is confusing.

You said she was asked to submit a new statement because the one she submitted online was ineligible?

No medical request, so why did she submit her passport to VFS considering it was an online application ?

If she applied online, and no call for medics, how did they accept her passport?
Two sisters, the younger sister got her PPR but the elder is the one yet to be called for medical and with the SOA issue

Hello my good people.

My Jr sister just picked her passport from vfs today after almost x3weeks of submission after PPR.

My elder sister applied since May 30, no medical call yet but she got a phone call from the embassy in Lagos today that her passport photograph and her personal bank statement which she uploaded on her online application is not legible. They later sent an email advising her to resend a clearer statement of account in PDF format to their email in Lagos before Next Tuesday in order for them to continue the application process and failure to do so will result to a refusal of her application.

My question is has anyone experienced this kind of situation before and is it a good sign of an approval?
It is a good sign. My question for you now is, what is she waiting for? I want to believe she has sent the requested documents to cic

Hello good people!

My case goes this way, I submitted my application for a Canadian student visa via an online route on May 12, 2019. I did my biometrics on May 14, 2019. On June 25, I received a rejection letter from them. I was devastated and depressed, but I just had to move on.

I later applied for GCM Notes to find out the real reason for their refusal. Their reason was not worth it because I have a sister who was willing to sponsor my education with an available fund of 16,000 Cad for a start and she is based in Canada with her family.

I have attached the reasons the gave for my refusal.

What is the best course of action? Has their been anyone who has appealed their visa refusal and was successful? If so, can you refer me to a good immigration lawyer that will appeal for me (I suppose it is an immigration lawyer that will do)?

Please, I need help o, gurus in the house.
Before you think of appealing your case, you need to review your application to see if you truly covered the areas listed by the vo. Getting an immigration lawyer won't be a problem but you need to know of you stand a chance of winning the case or not(something most lawyers won't tell you because they want the $$$). Share your profile here let's see first then you can think of the next step to take( if to appeal or repackage a new app and reapply)

Good day team, thanks to everyone that have contributed to this great thread. I'm July 8 and I got a request letter for my transcripts, duly completed family form(imm5645). I submitted the completed family form with my application and I don't know why they're asking for it again. House, please do I have to submit their birth certificates since I didn't do that? I need your advice
Fill another family form with their details, also attach copie of their birth certificate and forward to cic (try to be fast about it as your approval might depend on how early they get it). CIC can be unpredictable sometimes, so just do what they asked and you will be just fine

Hello Gurus,

Please what will you advise?

I submitted an online application on the 8th of July, 2019 for Sept 4th entry into a PhD program. I submitted an upfront medical result and since then both eligibility and background has been running concurrently.

I contacted my sch few weeks ago to defer my admission to January which they acknowledged and issued new entry date to me with funding intact.

What do you suggest I do;

1. Should I wait till 8 weeks or Sept 4th and upload the new admission letter.

2. Can I send the new offer letter now?

3. Should I wait for decision before sharing the new offer letter if decision is negative.

Please help.
Wait till you get your approval or till mid September (I hope you get your approval before then) because most offer letter expires a week or two after resumption. CIC will only ask for an updated offer letter if your approval comes long after your September 4th resumption (from October upward).
For now just relax and pray for approval. Good luck

@waynee2baba and Frankrobbn1, both of you have very valid points. I just want to add to both views.

While it is always advisable to apply early for study permits due to various reasons one being 'pressure' on the officers to conclude on these applications by applicants as well as meeting their stipulated processing time, it is also not completely detrimental to apply later or close to resumption date especially if one has a very good reason(application) and can convince through with such application.
Applications as we all know are processsed all through the year irrespective of the resumption date. Each application are concluded based on it's individual merit and uniqueness.

Also, there are other factors that must be considered too. These applications go through different stages(security, background, eligibility checks etc)and some may completely not be at the discretion or instance of the officer untill maybe the final stage(decision making) considering the numbers of application to be concluded on to meet resumption dates. During these peak periods, the stages may not take or go through a particualr order as it would during the less application period which may lead to an officer not carefully considering all evidenced documentation presented before him/her .

Applications from our part of the world go through rigorous scruitnity to determine essentially 'INTENT'. So rather than considering the academic purposes of these applications alone as it should be, officers largerly would also consider the intent behind these applications hence different factors would be considered. (Age,year of previous study, recent activities, strong home ties etc). All these during the peak periods i would assume may not be well establised by an officer hence you see a very good application refused on a rather ridiculous reason(s).

However, it still isn't enough to say applications during these peak periods stand a high chance to be refused or that the government have reached it's quota for the year. Statistics have shown that Nigeria has about the lowest positive issuance of the study permit all round the year in recent time. This ofcourse are from obvious reasons. We are not even close to our counterparts from Asia and other part of the world who usually would stand better chance.

Having mentioned these, it is highly advisable to apply months before resumption dates. However, this does not guarentee an approval or mean that such application would be delayed or refused. The only thing i feel is that it would give an applicant sufficient time to readdress an issue in a case of a refusal or respond to a correspondence from the processing office.

So yes, both of you have made good points and they are valid. An application is processes and assesed based on it's merit but there is always and 'unknown' extra when Nigerians are involved, more so when there is an influx of applications that sometimes do not even pass the eligibility stage. It becomes difficult to see through the good ones.

Regards guys.
Good to see you here again bro, welcome back

@Austinpee4, nice to hear from you again, longest time bro grin.

You have said it all but to add to your point and in my own opinion, this visa approval stuff is just by luck it's not a matter of how perfect your application is and another thing I would advise people to.always take note is do not overload your application, screen and remove all unnecessary documents, the more garbage documents you submit, the more time it takes for the VO to verify all your documents (not to talk of when we now know these VOs are impatient to review documents anymore) and also too much documents can raise a red flag when the VO notice any contradictions in some of the documents you have submitted most people dont know this can also lead to refusal. Austinpee can testify to this, in the past, we have so many people that kept their applications simple and tight with all necessary documents and they still got an approval while we that overloaded our application took forever to be approved/many was refused. Some people will include all the academic credentials of their 5 siblings starting from primary school to the highest level attained and other funny documents (I have seen an app like this).

I applied for my study visa in October 2016 against winter 2017 term, when I noticed my app wasn't approved in the last week of December, I contacted my school to defer my admission till summer, I waited till last week of april 2017 still no show from cic, I contacted my school again to defer till fall, around early june 2017, cic requested for a new admission letter in other to proceed with my app, I sent the fall admission letter and after 2 weeks, my app was approved. One of my colleagues who also had same funding package and same supervisor as me got his 1st admission letter 3weeks to resumption for fall term, he applied 2weeks to resumption and his application was approved 4days to the R-day, the guy booked his flight asap. since then, I realized everything is by grace of God. it also depends on the mood of the VO at the point of reviewing your app this is where much prayer comes in. We cant say they have reached their quota for the year, how about people from other countries? The rate at which they approve these people ehn even when their resumption date is close, they will still be approved, most times I doubt if they actually checked their documents.

For everyone still waiting for approval, be optimistic, there is nothing impossible under the sky, it has happened before and it will still happen, your case is different and God hasn't forgotten about you. I wish one day, Nigerian application would be treated with priority like all.other countries, this people even trust ghanaians more than us. More approval coming by his grace grin

PS: for those that asked me questions in the previous pages and via my email, am highly sorry I haven't responded, please kindly forgive me, i cant intentionally ignore your questions, it hasn't been easy tho but I.promise to respond asap cry.
Greetings Ma'am, congratulations on your graduation

Hello house

Please I would like you to advice me on the best way forward with regards my husband's application.

My husband got a full PhD. scholarship from WLU and he has put forward his online application. Please see the timeline below:

Submission Confirmation - May 6
Confirmation of online application - May 6
Biometrics Collection Letter - May 7
Biometrics Completion - May 9
Medical Report letter - June 19
Medical Result - July 12
Biometrics Correpondence Letter - July 22

He is to resume 1st week of September 2019 and up until now, he hasn't received any mail to submit his passport. Also, he is yet to resign from work since he hasn't gotten the study permit confirmation and he is required to give 1 month notice in lieu of resignation.

He sent a webform last week to make inquiry concerning his application but he is yet to get any response.

Please house what do you consider the best step going forward?

1. Should he wait until the visa comes out and then email the school that he will be coming in late since he got the visa late? (that would mean resuming October)

2. Should he just ask the school to defer his admission to the Winter term (January 2020)? Would that mean getting a new admission letter and sending it to the IRCC?

3. Or should he just wait and do nothing and let the application run its course.

Please your prompt advice will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.
Let him email his school to give him more time(most schools give 14 days for students to resume after resumption), hopefully before then he will hear from CIC. Also he should send email to CIC again (to their Lagos, London, Kenya and Accra offices ) reminding them politely how far his application has gone.
Most passports will be dispatched in the next 2 weeks(it is a trend). As for the resignation, it is his choice, but it is 99% certain he will get his passport request

2. No it was not stated
3.yes he transfered the 1st semester fee into my account.
4. I did not submit my own personal account.
Since your tuition fee is 15k then you need at least 25k for everything (at least 10k for living expenses). Let your sponsor transfer the funds to your account then you submit your statement of account and that of your sponsor. With that you should be able to tackle the issue of fund.
Also, work on your SOP and make sure it sounds convincing enough to the vo.

I didn't see your gcms note at first (had to read your previous posts to get it).
You were denied based on funds(though home-tie and personal asset was slightly put in as well).
Answer the following questions for me:
1. How much is your tuition fee? Because you only talked about what your sponsor had in his account.
2. Did your sponsor state the actual amount he will be committing towards your education? If he did....
3. Did he transfer the said amount into your personal account or pay your full tuition fee before you applied? It is very important he does that because he is a third party sponsor and as such much show commitment by either paying your full tuition and transfer the living expenses into your account or transfer both into your account.
4. Did you submit your personal bank account statement?

Hi,

The proof of funds aspect.

How much is minimum funding acceptable for a family of four?

I'm beginning to think my 5m will not cut it at all.

The cic website stated something about "additional funds outside of tuition" being $17,000 per annum.

If that be the case, then one would be needing over N20m for a four year course!!??

any tips for me?
First, work with the figures you see on CIC's site.
Secondly, if you are self-sponsored then you MUST provide funds to cover the entire duration of your program. But if you have a sponsor then he/she can provide fund for the first year and show proof of how he/she intends to pay for other year(s).

Guys a quick question here. Can a signed/sealed letter of sponsorship from the government of a state suffice as proof of fund?
I doubt it will hold waters, most states in Nigeria are not trusted (some states can't event pay their workers salary). The only way it might work is if the said state have had such dealings with CIC in the last and they kept to their word, but if not I will strongly advise they pay your tuition fee and transfer the living expenses into your personal account.

Hi,
Am 43yrs old and was widowed a year plus ago. I just need a new place to retry life smiley. I intend to apply for a masters program. I have a brother who is willing to and financially capable of sponsoring me plus my name appear as a director in his company. I have 4 daughters. I earn about 500k monthly from my bro company and get a 100k support monthly from him personally. My elder sister in Ontario keeps discouraging me that since my Bsc is since 2000 and because of my age I may not be considered. Pls seniors kindly advise, I would like to have other opinions on my success chances.
First, ask your sister what's her main reason from asking you not to apply (apart from the vo won't grant you TRV).
Now to the matter at hand, you can get your TRV if you package your app very well.
Since you said you earn around 600k/month it will be better if you say you and your brother will do the sponsoring together (one acting as sponsor and the other as co-sponsor).
Make sure you apply for a master's that is related to your current job experience or your Bsc (that's if they aren't related).
About convincing the vo, you can simply say since you lost your husband(God bless his soul) you feel going back to school will help you get more busy and help you get over him a little bit. That ever since he left you haven't been the same and now you just want to go back to school to help get your mind off. You can apply alone first while you use your children and company as home-ties but if you think you have enough fund to cover for yourself and your children then you can apply with them(but it means you will have to explain how and who will take care of them while you are in school)....
NB: Talk your sister again and ask her to give you other reasons why she doesn't want you to apply (apart from your age).
Come back here when you have discussed with her.
Good luck
