Happy holidays to everyone out there. I'm glad that we can now agree that whether you buy online or offline, due diligence is required. Personally, I prefer to buy my phone charger from Nairaland and pay 2k for shipping because I believe the seller will hate my negative comment on his thread should he sell fake. Most online sellers sell with the barest profits because we intend to sell many and fast too. And please crime isn't unique to one tribe. I don buy phone from oyibo man and it was icloud locked. I sent someone to get him to unlock it and he was robbed.
Once again, enjoy your holidays and learn from the experience and others |

omanzo02: There is always a cheaper version of expensive and redistribution of wealth. My understanding of the market is you pay the excess for the premium names and not it quality. Here we have laboratories/test centres that test cheaper products against expensive premium and the results are always alarming. Surprise! The cheaper products always performed better and gets higher marks than the expensive ones. They do this to avoid producers/brands from misleading the consumers/public that their products is the best. Why should I buy a Versace jacket when an Oakwood can do the job to keep me warm? why wear oakwood when there's #1,000 doing same job perfectly. I don't know about others,if I can afford that versace, I will wear it. You see this life,it has no duplicate. The first I check is this, can I comfortably afford it |

yemi2plus: Good morning family.
I am new to the property section and this is my first post here.
Please, I am more familiar with measurements in feet. I want to purchase a land and it's in square metres.
What's 500 Square meters in feets? I will also know how to do the conversion.
Thanks. good morning. When you want to convert to inches, multiply the meter size by 39 and divide by 12 which is the value of 1ft. When it's in feet, you first convert to inches and then divide by 39 |

TheSourcerer: Capras Delusion
Capras Delusion, named after Joseph Capgras, a French psychiatrist who was fascinated by the illusion of doubles, is a debilitating mental disorder in which one believes that the people around them have been replaced by imposters. Furthermore, these imposters are usually thought to be planning to harm the sufferer. In one case, a 74-year old woman with Capgras Delusion began to believe that her husband had been replaced with an identical looking imposter who was out to hurt her. Capgras Delusion is relatively rare, and is most often seen after trauma to the brain, or in those who have been diagnosed with dementia, schizophrenia, or epilepsy. most IPOB members suffer from this ailment. If you're going to use H channels, I will advise that you use 5 by 3 for the stands and 3 by 1½ for the load beans. Budget 550-600k depending on your location. |

First of all, when buying the door, ensure you purchase something with strong and durable material. Secondly, you can get a protective gather in front of the door to added security, thirdly, ensure that the keys and hinges are of high quality. Finally, always remember that all these won't stop a determined thief from gaining entrance but will only suffer him or her. The door before is twice more expensive than a normal door because of the selection of materials. Same goes for the key, hinges and bolt. One good thing about this hinges is that it doesn't have that noise known for local ones which is also in the picture below

The difference in their price with Dangote cement is not more than #200. Ibeto is currently the major dealer of BUA cement here in Nnewi. He's yet to build a quarry in Nigeria and there's a ban on importation of cement. I heard he's building on in Nkalagu but hit a roadblock because of revenue sharing formula between the owners of the land and him. You need to improve on your welding. First reduce the machine power to something like 120 and get yourself a binding wire. It will help you.
You will still need to smoothen the surface very much before applying the body filler |

n3xt: During the lockdown, I trained over 2000 young people in sub-Sahara Africa including my 9 and 10 yo kids. It’s sad to see graduates who do not know what the future holds and uneducated artisans earning big. The Covid19 lockdown exposed a lot.
I taught my kids how my make custom lights and DIY chandelier (picking up the parts and coming up with bespoke designs). I also engage them in 90% of my DIY projects. They now understand concrete mix design.
We’d be fine if stop pretending everything is well with Africa.
In Nigeria, every man is a democracy of its own. You build your own road; sink your borehole; design your own life; generate your own power supply; sponsor your own education. The government only tax you for it.
______ Today, a lot of all these young guys are earning far more than most people on collar jobs. I’m talking about skilled ones and not the ones flooding every site with adverts “I’m a carpenter. Pls try me. ” the funny thing is that we all see these kids and do nothing to help them. These kids deserve education but since they can't get it, let them take up the next best thing available. It's a cat race here and everyone is trying to outrun poverty. Some already across the line but millions are yet to even start a race. I went with my friend to his village in Ebonyi State,as we were going,a small boy of around 8 was begging my friend to take him with him because he's tired of staying in the village with zero prospect. At that time, I was still engaged with my boss. If not, I will take that boy immediately and teach him my job. Child labor consequences be damned |

Society owes that child an education, not hard labor at this age. And, yes, Society includes you.
You almost sound proud of the fact you are employing an 8 year old.
'Sentimentality' should not be a dirty word here. Would anyone not feel sentimental when they think for a moment it was their own child?
You are breaking the law. point out where I said I have an eight years old under my employ. Society failed him and he choose to take up his own destiny |

diordaves: An eight year old child should not be fiddling with electrod, sparks, cutting and grinding tools.
There's a solution already. [b]The child should go back to school to acquire basic education to a minimum of JSS level and can then learn a trade in a safe structured environment IF proven to be struggling with academic learning.[b/]
Child labour and exploitation is real. There's the United Nations convention against child labour and exploitation to which Nigeria is a signitory.
My eight years old boy will not "learn work" but go to school. I wish same for all children particularly Africa children No under age labour on my site and I will not buy any product I'm aware is made from/by child labour.
Every child has an unqualified (human) right to education to SSS level.
It is sad to read here such lackadaisical attitude to child labour.
As a business owner, not encouraging child labour is part of your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This is part of what you give back to society. will you be willing to sponsor the education. At least he's better than those ones begging on the streets. Five years time and he will be hustling for jobs and taking care of his bills. |
