I still recall that how OANDO will raise money to finance the ENI transaction was discussed here.
Either by rights issue or more borrowings. OANDO has now borrowed.
During the 44th AGM, Wale told shareholders that sales proceeds from sale of OANDO retail outlets to NNPCL was used to significantly pay down the huge outstanding obligations/borrowing.
With this loan from AFREXIM, OANDO loan balance building up again.
However, it is a good borrowing in my opinion considering the fact it's coming from Afrexim Bank and also the deal for which the borrowing is meant for is profitable both in the short and long term.
Additionally, Since OANDO revenue is now majorly in foreign currency, the repayment will need no Naira conversion to foreign currency before repayment. This mitigates the risk of FX losses due foreign currency borrowings/obligations.

You are perfectly right.
This loan would ease off pressure on Oando but they need to achieve and sustain reasonable level of production.
The dynamics are beginning to change gradually, and I hope the SEC would stamp its authority if Oando management decides to go ahead with the delisting because I saw in the last AGM that they are cancelling the unissued authorized shares of the company, which looks like an indication of the intention to delist the whole shares of the company from the NGX eventually.

If the shareholders reject the delisting and the company is able to weather the storm and remains afloat, a lot of people who bought at N4-N5 would make huge profits.

About 2 weeks ago, some people were saying this Israel was scared of urban ground battle with Hamas and that the IDF would be humiliated like Vietnam did to America.
I hope those people can smell the coffee right now. Israel is a world super power. It develops and builds some of the best and most sophisticated war machines in the world and sells to other countries including Europe.
The Palestinians and Islamists made a very big mistake with their jubilation, celebrations and congratulatory messages when Hamas attacked Israel. That has contributed to the ferocity of Israel's response and innocent civilians are unfortunately paying some heavy price for the foolishness of Hamas.

I am an immigration lawyer who just came back from an IBA (International Bar Association) Conference. As a member of the immigration committee, we discuss immigration issues. Immigration is as old as time and inevitable. I don't have issues with Nigerians emigrating for "greener pastures" after all, I did the same thing as a teenager thanks to my folks and encourage many others to do so. What I do have a problem with are the categories of people emigrating abroad to start all over. The list is as follows:

1. Big earners/those who are at the top of their career: It doesn't make sense for someone who earns millions a month to abandon that in the name of JAPA. The chances that you will earn the equivalent to what you are earning in Nigeria is slim. You have to start all over again as no country is going to hire you over their own nationals.

2. People approaching 50 and above. I was insulted some time ago whenI stated that if you must Japa abroad, you should do it when you are young. While there are quite a few over 40s who have been able to re-establish themselves, there many more who have struggled to get back on their feet. The job market is a young person's market.

3. Politicians. These category of people make too much money to desire to move to another country. The system in Nigeria was designed to cater to their very whelms.

4. Small scale/large scale business men. If you have a thriving business, it doesn't make sense abandoning your business just to start over in another country. Don't get me wrong, there are many countries are looking for business men to invest in their economy. In the UK, they fall under the category of investor visas.

If you are a Senior Lawyer, Bank Manager, Senior Surgeon, Senior Chartered Accountant, you are most likely at the peak of your profession in Nigeria and very likely earning a decent amount of money that places you in the elite. It makes no sense for these category of people to emigrate and start all over again.

There you have it. Everybody else has the right to leave the country as it's not working but it doesn't make sense for the above-mentioned class of people to JAPA abroad (at least, outside Africa) as they have a lot to lose.

There different types of ''Japa''.
Anybody can still 'japa' if you are going through the job/employment route. What is dangerous is to just resign and relocate without any sure plan or guarantee for employment overseas

The present day"Palestinians" are Arabs who were living on Israeli lands but were displaced when the Jews came back to live in their land before they were conquered and driven away by the Roman Empire. When the State of Israel that was formed, the Arabs refused to return to their original Arab countries (Jordan, Lebanon etc,); but rather demanded to stay and claim ownership of the lands!

Isreal in catch 22 situation right now. They can't "win" this war by air bombardments and to enter Gaza city has complicated military consequences. They are very sensitive to their own casualty figures and they will surely suffer heavy casualties if they enter Gaza city with the inevitable hand to hand fighting with hamas fighters. It will be brutal, savage and nasty for both sides if they venture into that city. Those bombed out buildings will provide cover for hamas and with isreali soldiers on the ground air bombardments and tank fire will be limited if not halted altogether, and it will be man-to-man, rofo rofo merciless, savage fighting. The advancement of IDF troops into the Gaza city itself should tell you that they are crushing Hamas. The IDF is not giving too much details because they don't want to reveal too much for Hamas to know.

Last week I created a thread talking about how my japa plans have been crushed due to the increase in dollar.

Many adviced me to invest in dollar, this was the advice they gave me months ago but I did follow through because I wasn't sure.
My last thread hit front page and 90% of the comments were advising me to invest in dollars, one even quoted that in the past 10 years, the dollar haven't fallen but it increases every year.

One even called me a weak minded person and I am scared to take risks.
After everything I thought to myself, since so many people felt this dollar will keep on rising, maybe I should invest afterall life is all about risks.

Well guess what, dollar have decreased, I invested 3M in buying dollars and now in today exchange rate. I have 2.6M now and I either cash out now or hope it will increase.

Right now, I am very angry.
Those giving me advice should come and contribute the 400k for me o

Please keep your dollars. It is has not lost it's strength and value in the international market. You can still use it to pay for your fees or living expenses when you trave out.
