I think the best winning ticket for PDP is a Northern candidate for President, with a SE (or middle-belt) running mate, and so far, my picks are between Ibrahim Dankwambo and Atiku Abubakar. Peter Obi, Charles Soludo, or David Mark for VP. Why? If PDP fields somebody from SW, SS, or SE, the North will be reluctant to choose against Buhari. But if you have a candidate from NE, the Northern vote will be divided more along the lines of competence. I'd wager most would vote against Buhari except say Katsina/Kano/Jigawa. We've already heard agitation from other parts of the North that they can't keep supporting without producing president. OK, now to bolster the SE and SS votes, you'd want somebody from SE. Why? SW already has VP, who will be Buhari's running mate again. SS just had president. Of course voters in SE (wisely, but annoyingly unpredictable) won't put their solid support behind a SE VP candidate, but nonetheless most want Buhari out, so this is to bolster that chance. SS will likely vote the same way as SE (not because of love for SE, but because of anybody but Buhari), and the vote among SW will be split because of Osinbajo. GEJ is a non-starter, for many reasons, including the above. Lamido would be a good contender, but NC has had many chances, and I see a resurgent NE (they had a VP from 1999-2007, though I won't be surprised if NC once again oppresses other Northern groups). David Mark and Ayo Fayose may also be good candidates, but if I was PDP, I would not field them. |
coolcharm:I think you captured the mood of these groups very well... ![]() |
I like these guys sha... selling used warplanes to fight the people who they (indirectly) sold guns to (abi BH dey make guns and grenades)? Remember all the ransom BH used to collect from foreign governments? Also indirectly telling those Biafra agitators which side they will support. Just in case kasala bust, the weapons have already been sold, so nobody can accuse them of taking sides ![]() Smart people, these oyinbos |
What criteria is used for this? They don't count all the new buildings, medium-scale farms, schools, shops, small and medium scale industries as investment inflows? A lot of these things are projects funded by Nigerians abroad sending money back here. They may be called kobo-kobo projects, but if you multiply 1 Million naira by 10,000 people (an underestimation if you ask me), you can easily reach 10 Billion Naira per-year in so-called "foreign investment" by Nigerians in the diaspora. And these are being sent to many states, not just the 5 mentioned. |
Cute... very cute... This will be a picture for them to cherish ![]() |
Delta at 26... what are we celebrating? Looting? Serious erosion? Poverty? Awful education? Low economic activity? The only industries of note are Hotel and Olosho. Smh |
If you think that nobody would fall for these stories, it happens all the time. Even me sef, I ended up losing some money, not because of greed per say, but the story they told me was so mesmerizing and believable and I thought I was helping out somebody in need. I also had an aunt lose like $1000 to these people in Surulere, till today she describe how she was scammed. |
Daeylar:I guess she's not into baby bump instagrams like a lot of our ladies ![]() I say, keep your private life private, so baby can develop without too many critical and jealous eyes. |
Congratulations for another successful birth... can't be easy with the world watching your every move. |
This will not help anything... it's one thing to pay online for passport... it's another thing entirely for the office to "have your passport", if you know what I mean. You can visit their office so tey, they will just tell you it hasn't come out yet, until you get sense and give 10k. Abi na lai? ![]() |
BornnAgainChild:It's a free market... They are free to go work elsewhere, and Dana is free to hire those who will work for 18k |
The irony is that the really wealthy - that is the people who own and control factories that make these expensive cars, shoes, bags, etc, are not flaunting their wealth. That should tell us something. Funny, Arabs and Africans are using money the West gives them for oil, to buy back expensive things from the West. Not a single one of these luxury items is made in Arabia or in Africa I'm jealous, but not of these people flaunting it. I'm jealous of the West that gives 1 euro for oil, then collects back 20 euros for cars, fermented grapes, and cowskins. |
Jaqenhghar:Heh heh. I was waiting for somebody to point this out. This is not a problem of the airlines, but for the government to insist on standards. When a government treats its own citizens with disdain, why should foreign airlines do any better? |
lofty900:No... it means now is when you start selling your properties and move your business... before it's forcefully taken from you. If you come back now, you will have cash on hand, inventory you can sell, and time to plan. I'm not sure how this will all end up, but the quit notice should also remind Igbos not to build up other people's land because there's always the threat of losing it. If all of Igbo returned, the their father's land will boom with industries, schools, entertainment, and much more. |
Dreamwaker:For riding okada, jumping gutters, running from agberos starting fight, sitting, or when something catch your dress and lift it, among many other things where you don't wan people to see your pata. It also means you don't have a visible panty line that some lecherous people like you like to study ![]() Some women only wear them - without panties - as it allows the kitty to breathe in our hot humid weather. ![]() |
All this brandishing and strong words... I have to respect the man sha... it's not easy trying to make PMB understand that force is not the only way to get your way... dialogue also works. |
WhiteRacist:Good points. You should also remember that almost HALF of all wealth in Europe today originated from Africa. Europe deserves its wealth, afterall raw materials without creativity, science and engineering is nothing. But all the sugar, cotton, human labour, tea, oil, gold, diamonds, iron ore and so on that helped fuel the West's industrial revolution were obtained at dirt cheap prices - not fair market value, at the barrel of a gun. The West stripped out resources - human and materials, then instituted policies that perpetuated the lopsided arrangements, then supported puppet governments (no matter how oppressive) while helping to overthrow independent ones. Remittances and direct investment have become a far larger portion of money into Africa than aid. See the graph on https://www.brookings.edu/blog/africa-in-focus/2015/05/20/how-finance-flows-to-africa/ and for the past 30 years, Africans abroad have sent in more money than foreign governments - which is how it should be BTW. In addition, the interest payments of various loans by African governments over the years should be subtracted from said aid. In fact, the chart on https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2014/jul/15/aid-africa-west-looting-continent shows in 2014 aid and grant inflow of 29+10 Billion, versus interest payments and company profits to the West of 21+46 Billion. Just these two show a net outflow of 28 Billion. Even the donations you speak of amount to Western governments subsidizing Western businesses - after all who supplies all the material bought with Aid money? The tractors, solar panels, books, water bottles, cell phones, fertilizer, buses, and so on? The money goes right back to the West which employs its people to make the things that aid money buys. A very smart use of money, if I may say so. I understand where your coming from - aid does make Africans more dependent - but the added irony is that aid actually makes the West richer, provides that feel good of "supporting the underdeveloped world", while unfairly discouraging local industry. |
Remember how food for IDP was diverted? I don't have hope for this gesture either... These cows will be diverted by the very same people who have been given the responsibility to share it. |
kjhova:You're right... sadly, privatization doesn't seem to work here... even scholarships will get misappropriated. I jus taiya |
Na wao! With all the burglary, chains, security door... Now we have to start putting iron inside german floor again... |
kjhova:That's one way to look at it, but like you say that is a very competitive cost of word-class education. There are plenty of families (probably 1 million) who can afford it, which is how all these private universities are able to exist. Now, what govt should do is make all govt schools private, then subsidize the poor students with scholarships and grants, maybe even loans. The federal schools simply won't get better if they remain govt run |
Good. Though I'm not exactly sure what she means because she travels a lot (Europe is like driving from Lagos to Asaba, about 6-7 hours) Perhaps spending a little more time in Lagos than usual to grow her music production biz. I hope she employs our youths and I pray she gets responsible ones that will work hard and not look to steal from her. Funny thing is the Nigerian elite who can afford to travel out every week are based in Nigeria. They made their wealth in this same Nigeria that people are rushing to escape from. And they are plentiful, just you don't hear about them. So what's stopping you from finding opportunities? Those of us who migrate abroad never get the chance to become wealthy, just managing. Think about that. |
The Lion King kept out of office by rats. But seriously, I remember when Granpa used to take us to village for Christmas. After 11 months in Lagos, with nobody to take care of the village house, not one rat dare enter and start misbehaving. How is it that my granpapa's house was more secure against rats than the President's office? |
OrdercityWeb:I think it should be encouraged. We need a new Nigerian tribe that blends the best of the existing tribes. Tribalism has not done any of us any good. Besides, even marrying from the same village does not mean inlaws will get along nor does it equate to marital bliss. Some things are easier, some things are harder, but it's the same struggle. OrdercityWeb:So the events of 2000 years ago in one part of the world should be the basis of how we now conduct ourselves? OrdercityWeb:China has 56 ethnic groups (look it up), though the Han makes up the absolute majority. UK for the most part has blended its multiple tribes (English, Scots, Irish, Welsh). Multiple ethnicities have not held back the United States, Brazil, Malaysia, India, UK, and so on. But more to your point, if and when we had a single Nigerian ethnicity (which can only happen with lots of inter-tribal marriages), what you said about cultural cohesion will also apply. That's a plus. OrdercityWeb:Identity also changes... there were people - ancestors of the people we now call Yoruba; they were not "Yoruba" in the current sense because the myth of Yoruba originating from Oduduwa had to start at some point (it's not infinitely in the past). The children of a new pan-Nigerian tribe will also be descended from Oduduwa, as well as other groups their parents come from, and will thus still be unique - in their own generation. Yoruba have been argued to have Egyptian heritage - and those people don't look like most modern Yoruba. I think it's OK to lose who we WERE, and transition to being a new who we ARE. It's happened many many times in history, just that we don't have records. |
Testicular vein... na wah... is it bad ting so do what comes so naturally? ![]() |
I don't doubt that the "Resume or Resign" protest played a role in PMB's return. It may be disguised as "doctors orders", "Sallah preparation", or what not, but the voice of protest in Abuja and London hastened his return. Even those who almost lynched CharlyBoy in Wuse market should acknowledge that our president can't just be off seat for so long. In that vein, I hope this new protest will bring Deziani back to face the music. But unfortunately, like GoroTango said earlier, the UK system is better able to prosecute and jail her, so she should just stay there. EFCC should bring mountains of evidence. Diezani... kai, it won't end well for you, cancer or not. You missed your chance to engrave your name in honour and all your greed will be your downfall. |

I think something is wrong with her... from the way she was acting... this is obviously mental illness, not stealing. They should collect their things and see if she forgot to take her medication. Serious |
