truthstands01:This one na subsidy removal (which is what Nigerians voted for). The price of petrol has come up to match the market rate. It was unduly reduced in price. Basically we're paying the same, just that we paid for cheaper petrol with the lack of good hospitals and roads. Instead of making market for smugglers and corrupt middle-men in government, petrol is now deregulated to some extent. |
Two weeks At least NLC and co can be seen to have done something.Nigerians are funny sha: we want 24 hours light, but want to keep paying 1970's rates. The new tarriffs are here to stay... whether we like them or not. |
Guyman02:And the funny thing is: until 10 years old, a child can learn any number of languages, and pronounce them all flawlessly. So parents should not be ashamed to teach their children Igbo, in addition to Queens English. |
Nuttella:That's for the father to do, not so? Mother is doing her part, which is why we're happy. |
davididenyi:Na local betting oh... 1k tins... just enough for 2 Hero and 1 plate of asun ![]() |
My morasuka Laycon for the win!!! I talk am. All those yarning dust in that our favorite bar on Nnebisi road, how market? Time for me to go and collect on my bets ![]() When people were insulting him as a whole chicken leg, too local, too this, too that... this same person got 60% of the vote. Laycon, abeg just use your prize and buy three rental property so you will be eating from this money for life. One luxury property and two middle-market properties. Don't waste it on travel, car, giveaway, relatives, your music, or even paying tithes. When your tenants pay rent, then you can use some out of it for these expenses. None of the people you help today will be around when you need money for rent or hospital. Not your fans, not your so-called friends, and certainly not your church. Be wise. |
Eyaa... so last night's grinding on Laycon didnt'save her bah? Personally, I'm happy to see both Laycon and Dorathy as finalists... the most deserving, if you ask me. Whoever wins... abeg just use that money and buy three rental property so you will be eating from this money for life. One luxury property and two middle-market properties. Don't waste it on travel, car, giveaway, dashing relatives, or even paying tithes. When your tenants pay rent, then you can use some out of it for these expenses. None of the people you help today will be around when you need money for rent or hospital. Not your fans, not your old friends, and not your church. Be wise. |
The Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, was not about unity. In fact, he especially refused to recognize the SE as partners: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_odAy4rVz8 I'll paraphrase: "Igbo want to dominate", and "If you send an igbo man to a labor camp, he will try to emerge as headman" Ironically, it is the Hausa-Fulani that have demonstrated the need (borne out of fear?) to dominate - but not by earning it with (e.g.) education, self-improvement, or desired for service. For the second comment, is it wrong to try and improve yourself and your station in life? Third, his comments reek of the kind of sentiments you'd hear about Jews in Europe leading up to WWII (and in fact, you'd still hear in bits and snippets from racists today). He expanded the "Northerner first" policy. If you can't find a Northerner, then an expatriate; if you can't find one, hold your nose and hire a Southerner. I partly understand his reasoning - how many Northerners were in employment in the South? But rather than do the things that encourage a qualified North, we have these kind of segregationist policies. Sir Tafawa Belawa was a gentler, kinder element and it's a pity, crime, and dishonor what was done to him. May he continue to rest in blessed peace. Nevertheless, these are all nice words profered by my learned journalist... the people who need to be told this are Nigeria's elite. They are disloyal to this country and it's people. They are the ones subservient to outsiders, depending on the White man's praise for sustenance. From the time they started coveting British trinkets in exchange for their brothers' lives, wearing Italian shoes, and driving American cars, they have not done anything in their lifetime that demonstrates they have love for themselves or their race. |
sureinfo:Niger imports via roads from Apapa and PH today. This railway will encourage more goods to travel over rail. Once you have it, so many stops along the way will also benefit. |
PHIPEX: BigSarah: Enudapan:I find this argument similar to the "why do we export electricity to Niger... why did we spend all that money on transmission lines to the border with Niger"? Anybody want to guess how Niger get its imported goods today? Niger does not have a seaport, and heavy/dangerous goods bound for Niger (e.g lorries, cars, electronics, industrial chemicals, machinery) don't fly in. The Niger River isn't yet fully dredged for their goods to come in over water (yet). That's right, they import by road all the way from Cotonou, Apapa, and Port Harcourt... and now the plan is those goods will be carried by train, with Niger probably paying for freight, as opposed to using our roads "for free". Niger will also build their side of the rail. As for why no rail to East... aren't we seeing seaports being opened up and rehabilitated? Onne, Warri, PH, Calabar. Why rail from Apapa to Calabar if Calabar has a seaport. https://www.nairaland.com/6057000/onne-seaport-welcomes-biggest-ship Yes we need rail to connect all of the country, and it's happening, albeit slowly. We also need rail to connect the continent. |
ifejobi84754:Hope she understands when you tell her: "If you love me you won't ask me to buy phone... wait till marriage" ![]() |
CEOnurse:You know there's DNA test that can make this a simple matter right? Technically, there can be two fathers on the birth certificate, since you don't have to biologically be the father to be socio-culturally responsible for a child. But, apparently, this is a joke according to her... I don't mind either way. Many men are "co-husbands" in reality, they just don't know it. ![]() |
MJluv:I support it jare. If the parties involved are happy with it, who are we to poke nose and ruin their happiness? All the guys complaining here would be the first to congratulate a guy if he had two wives or girlfriends. |
Good move. But in this Nigeria, I always worry when I hear of a new "task force". They all eventually devolve into terrorism: raiding and arresting innocents, destroying property, demanding bribes, and ending lives. ![]() We have so many different task forces littering Lagos, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Imo, Rivers; every single one a public nuisance. ![]() |
Ironically, multiple rounds helps release stress, relieve tension, and makes people calm down. I would be suggesting the opposite: osho free during elections. ![]() Government should pay the tab because olosho is cheaper than deploying extra police. Kai, can you imagine? Everybody would be looking forward to ![]() |
I think three very important things combined here: 1. Oba of Benin warned both sides not to partake in violence. 2. Buhari did not apply federal might (mostly because Oshopikin had become persona non-grata) 3. Fear of US visa ban made a few people reconsider. INEC tried, but it won't have stood a chance without the 3 points above. |
Brendaniel:You know what's sad? The simple steps you've outlined, this government can take to solve the problem, and at the same time prepare for the reality of the coming decades. What baffles me is their utter lack of vision. Generators are not the problem... it's that we have to run generators in the first place. |
It's not raising of price, it's "removal of subsidy" ![]() This 2020 sef... please come and be going abeg |
sweetrace:You're a woman, and granted you understand one woman - yourself. Don't you suppose that those who have dated multiple women have more experience than you on this topic, and can speak more on it? When you have dated 20+ women, I'll give you benefit of doubt that you understand women. Until then, please don't use sample size of 1 as proof that you understand them in a romantic sense. We know what respecting a woman looks like, and I agree with your points, but that's not what's under debate. What is - and I'll reiterate - is that Ozo is not displaying respect, he's displaying idolization (aka simping). That is not attractive to women at all, despite what they say... you can see it in Nengi's body language. It also comes as no surprise that she's catching feelings for Kidd, who apparently doesn't respect any of the women in the house (according to some definitions), but appears to command the affections/interests of several women. I bet you if we were to talk to those women, they too would wax lyrical about respect, like women are doing on this forum. |
Missyford31:Believe me, if this was a story about a guy who discovered his girlfriend was dating another, I'd also advise him not to make a scene... Some women do have multiple partners publicly. When girls do it, it's called "having multiple suitors". Many women have multiple partners codedly. For men who raise children to 18 and then discovering they are not the father... what do we call that? We can also ask her "why even have a partner if ur gonna make babies with someone else?" These things happen, and I'm not debating the gender (in)equality... all I'm saying is he's free to date and have multiple girlfriends, and she shouldn't come breaking up a party cuz she's in her feelings. If she doesn't like it, she has other options (like leave the relationship). https://guardian.ng/life/places-where-women-have-more-than-one-husband/ For the record: women form slightly more than half of society... they can change the perception if they want. Also my understanding is slut-shaming is actually done more by women against other women... |
All I know is if this man happened upon a civilian, he and his sort would maltreat us. RIP sir, but I can't say I'm sorry one of our tormentors is dead. That's sad that the military projects this image. Of course, the soldiers on this thread will want to tear me apart for not showing respect. I respect the downed Colonel for his service and gallantry. I respect the uniform. However, you soldiers' abuse of your power and uniform - especially in the face of civilians - is unbecoming of an armed forces sworn to protect its citizens. It's hard, very hard, to feel sorry for somebody who would whip, punish humiliate, or even kill you if you so much as say pim. At the end of the day we're all humans... and a bullet in the right place will snuff us all out, uniformed or not. |
We found out who is the learner... Oshopikin... I hail oh... please count your teeth with your tongue next time sir. ![]() |
APC and PDP... what's the difference? NOTHING. So please stop saying that this party is better than that one... it's up to the individuals, and Obaseki is the people's choice, regardless of party banner. |
Please note that all these pundits and writers have never won an election, not even SUG ![]() I'm happy that Edo people made their voices heard, and that Obaseki received the mandate for governor. It's a victory for democracy, and the end of godfathers. Edo no be Lagos is not just a slogan, but a reality. We need t-shirts of this. That said, a lot of political analyses are being done by people who don't fund, pick, sponsor, or know what it takes to strategize and win elections. Every election has losers and winners, and the participants are way more experienced than the armchair analysts. |
Goldp5988:Ozo's behavior is not of respecting a woman. He is idolizing a woman. There's a huge difference. |
andyanders:Women don't know why they do. But "bad boys" are exciting, women crave drama, and want to be the girl that tames him. Natural selection: the more aggressive mammals make more babies; the female offspring crave it, and the male offpring display it. What we're seeing over and over again between Ozo, Nengi, Kidd, Erica is basic "cat string theory". https://www.pualingo.com/cat-string-theory/ |
mariahAngel:Fellas, if you want to know how a woman will behave, DO NOT listen to what she says or writes. Most desired man... does not equate to gainfully employed, happy in a relationship, and living your own agenda. No matter what she says, no woman really wants a simp in her life. It looks enticing to women, but it's unnatural and they eventually will emasculate him, ideally in favor of a non-simp. Happens all.. the... time. Nengi didn't even bother to peck her simp at his departure, in spite of "he's most desired". Even the other girls (and lady viewer) laughed as she turned face... most desired man indeed. Kidd disappeared with her and was We call men like these women wrapper because she only keeps him around (like a wrapper) to wipe her tears and snot when she can't trick her way into a real man's heart. I'm not saying a man should be a tyrant, but men should call women on their bull and not just be at her beck and call, just because it's what "women want". Is that how a man should be? His life evaluated on the approval (or not) of women? Please. |
tundchip2:It's the Airport Station on the light rail: get off here to enter the airport. |
booscy:I understand what you're saying, but it's a distraction. A serious country will take the right steps, no matter what. Since these Western countries have done this from the start (1800s), you can infer GDP does not matter.. every Western country along the GDP curve has given incentives to help its industry. In fact, the lower a GDP (aka productivity), the more a government's need to subsidize and support its nascent industry. Britain in 1700s, was the template for subsidizing its companies, and this practice has lasted till today: Many definitions of merchantilism define "Mercantilism to be the basic policy imposed by Britain on its colonies. Mercantilism meant that the government and the merchants became partners with the goal of increasing political power and private wealth, to the exclusion of other empires. The government protected its merchants - and kept others out - by trade barriers, regulations, and subsidies to domestic industries in order to maximise exports from and minimise imports to the realm." In recent memory, Korea had a GDP lower than Nigeria... (I've rechecked, Korea:$3.9 billion, Nigeria:$4.2 billion in 1960). A former colony of Japan, they were fully devastated by war, rampant infant mortality, starvation, and by every measure in much worse shape than Nigeria at that time. They stimulated their industries - using the same techniques I've outlined, and are now the 12 richest country globally. What's our excuse again? |
Sanchez01:I don't know if you're intentionally conflating the issue for argument's sake, but diseases are caused by different things (broadly speaking paramecia, fungi, bacteria, viruses, in decreasing order of size); the previous commenter was simply noting that all these things, including viruses, existed way before science. There are good things (and bad things) being done in the name of science, but it isn't up to science to censure the pursuit of understanding. Nothing further is heard about planets because there's nothing further to say. There are billions of planets, so more will be discovered and cataloged as a matter of course. Some might be interesting to us (resources, refining our understanding, and - the holy grail - habor life), but the vast majority are boring spheres of rocks or gas. Much like cataloging grains of sand on a beach - most will be boring, but you might come across a particularly interesting one. |
I don't understand these debates at all. For those who believe in a Creator: are you not open to the idea that the Creator can create life on an infinite number of planets? It's entirely possible. For those who don't believe in a Creator: what is wrong with people personifying creation if it helps them sleep at night? We have had many personifications, and Yahweh is neither the first, nor the last in the long line of deities. The truth is not one of us knows, and in my opinion the Bible described things to an audience that doesn't have the same scientific understanding as we do now. From that perspective, God, through scientists, is reaching out and writing an upgraded Bible, but the religious currently living refuse to understand that... |
So what's the problem... men can't have multiple girlfriends again? That's why I like bouncers... 5k into the right hands will carry aunty away for the evening so she can come correct next time. Because she's my girlfriend gives her right to ruin my party? Dey go. |
