I think it takes a skill driving in the rain; heavy rain, visibility is always poor, you recognize vehicles with their double pointers and full lights majorly.
Whatever you do, put on your full lights double pointers and drive with slow speed. All should be well.
All the above is if you are already on the road when it starts raining.
If not You wait till the rain subsides before you go out. |

I wouldn't advise you change apartment because by the time you add agent agreement cost of moving and repairs in that new apartment, your 300k can never be enough.
If your landlord is understanding you can talk to him to pay 6months use the other money to continue to trade while you pay exactly when your rent expires, if you keep to your word your landlord might accept that method moving forward.
September the dreaded month for a lot of parents is coming, school fees books and a whole lot and with the inflation and greed by some schools over the profit they make from textbooks some parents may not be able to cope in this economic times.
You can move him to govt school but I think common entrance has been written if you are in Lagos.
You are doing OK. I think even some families with combined income can't boast of the 300k you have. |
Family › Re: Can You Be A Full Time House Husband! by NoToPile: 2:39pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
Oyindamolah: Again it is not a first hand account. Back in time when recession struck , many employees were handed the pink slips abruptly. My friend's father also got it. A little background knowledge of his family. He is a single son. His father worked in an IT firm and his mother worked in a bank. They were a well off family and lived a lavish life style. That evening, his father announced that he has been handed a pink slip and now he had to search for the job. Nothing major happened. His father started applying for jobs but unfortunately he got none owing to recession. Meanwhile they had to strike off many expenditures as a large chunk of the incoming money had gone away. Their maid left. For a few days things went really hay wired in their family. A lot of arguments followed. It was difficult for his wife to do household chores, go for her job, bear the cranky attitude of my friends father.
Then one fine day he announced that he'd be a house husband to ease the pressure on his wife until he finds a job. The concept of house husbands in Nigeria is very new or perhaps very hard to find because in Nigeria it is a patriarchal society where man is the bread winner of the home and if he sits back at home then he is treated as jobless, good for nothing by the society and even mocked for eating food earned by his wife (yes it happens)
So my friends father who loved to cook started cooking on daily basis, did the dishes, washed clothes, bought groceries, etc. Initially with the kind of upbringing his mother has , she found it awkward to come home and be offered a meal by her husband. yet the best thing she did was to appreciate each and everything he did and made him feel important for the family.
Meanwhile my friend's father realized how much work females do at home and he started respecting ladies even more. The things inside home were sailing smooth but my area was all up for spicy gossips. As my friends father walked down the street they would comment and taunt him for staying "at home doing "female stuff ". They questioned his potency. But my friends father was unfazed. After being a house husband for 8 months he got a job. This entire stay of 8 months helped him in being a better father allowing him to understand his child and spend time with him, making him realize the importance of being around with his kids. A better husband as he agreed and related to how much work has to be done and a better person. Hope it answered your question. Well your friends father is not the average egoistic Nigerian man. The average Nigerian man would be out of work, the wife will provide during that period and he will still expect the wife to come back home to do all those stuffs your friends father did to ease the wife's stress. A lot of Nigerian men hardly have anything to offer apart from money, when the money goes for a while they begin to panic because they don't see themselves being respected without money, even if you are down for a while, if you take up some homely responsibilities for that period a sensible wife will appreciate more but in a case where Money - zero, help in the house - Zero, Nothing, Of course the woman doing all will grumble naturally and then the 'she doesn't respect me again because I am down', 'Is it because I am jobless now that you are saying I should pls help prepare the kids for school' wailing will start. Even if you are cash strapped, make yourself useful in other things for that period |

Filmdirect: You have a right to concern. Most people here don’t understand marriage and treat their wives or understand their wives through lenses of antagonism, rivalry. God never blesses such and many times after the man dies those left behind struggle deeply. I was married, my name is on everything, he died…I’m managing everything the best I can for our children.
It’s a shame when men don’t realize their role as divider AND protector. How do you protect your wife and family after death if you exclude them from properties? We will all die. We like to think we will be old, but death can come earlier. In addition, many don’t have wills.
From the responses here we have a society where the meaning of marriage is lost to many. Wives are treated as the enemy and property, and with this, trust, respect, and companionship will not be enjoyed in that home. Instead, because there is an inner need for intimacy within every human being, a man will seek that outside not realizing that he as the head contributes to what he lacks inside his home. God’s order is from the head down. If the head leads wrongly his house will suffer, now and fatter his death.
You have a right as a wife, not a servant or girlfriend or mistress to want to be included on that land. Marriage is not your thing or my thing or my money or your money. It is the two shall be one. Anything that is not in line with that commandment opens the door to the fruit of rebellion and disobedience; strive, distrust, cheating, disunity etc. look at what his actions have sprouted in your family; accusations, pain, distrust.
The seed has been planted by the head. Just be wise going forward. Tell him why you feel the way you do and if he still doesn’t care, slowly get your own assets just in case.
It’s sad. Very apt. |

Ijelenwanyioma: He bought it with his money. I didn't contribute to it and even when I offered to give him at least a million (just want my money to be part of it) he said I shouldn't worry No problem since you want a property too and you seem to have the funds. Buy a land and develop gradually. Now you know his stand on such issues. At least he rejected the money, some will collect and still buy the property in their name only. Also some men don't see their women as family, only their children is their blood. In this age that uncles will leave the children with nothing because it's 'our brothers property' you have a right to be concerned, ignore the you are over reacting comments. |

Something that looked similar to this (not sure if ti's the same though) happened to my 5 yr old last year, I thought it was an insect bite and as he scratched the thing expanded, I now thought it was ringworm, rubbed one over the counter cream it will dry off at that point and it will jumping from that part of the body to the other, peeling and a bit watery put the cream there and it will move too. Outer part of the ears too. Took him to a children's hospital, they concluded it was bacterial infection after discussion and inspection. They gave him antibiotics and mupirocin ointment. Ran some tests too even HIV test. I also bathed him with this red flower leaf water and onion peels water. The Doc also told us to put savlon in their bath water or use antiseptic soap and always ensure hygiene is topnotch. The antibiotics cleared it. My younger baby also got it too and it was also on the scalp, also got cleared with the drugs. They got it from school. I will say act fast, those things jump from one part of the body to other quickly. All these was within 5 days or so I think. |

Buddha3: I am responsible for the words I use and how I chose to phrase them.
But I am not responsible for how you and "lot of people" decide to read and understand those words.
And I am in no place to make more than a single effort at explaining those words to blend with what I intended upon their usage. This is not a law court and you're not a presiding judge.
But if you still seek further clarity beyond what I have attempted to enunciate, kindly visit any branch of either Wema or Sterling banks, and my point(s) will be made clearer by physical experience(s). I am not really interested in proving the validity of your sterling/ Wema Bank assertion neither do I need explanation on whatever words you choose to use. I only pointed out the reason why there's such inference on that particular statement by some readers, you can phrase words however you want but if it's ambuigous, different readers can interprete it differently from what you say you mean and they reserve that right. Good evening. |

Buddha3: Clearly, lot of Nigerians have problems understanding common use of English.
That I said you'll hardly find "crowds" in their banking halls means ordinary Nigerians don't patronise them? Are you serious right now? Do you not understand you can have people around you and not term them to be a crowd? When you walk into branches of First bank, GTCo, Zenith bank, UBA, etc.., there's always the possibility you'll wait on a queue or sit down to wait for a while cause of crowds. The same scenario is hardly obtainable in Wema and Sterling banks.
That's what I meant by that statement, since you're too small-minded to have understood without burdening me with an explanation.. Well you said "Crowds of ordinary citizens" which implied that ordinary citizens don't use the bank. I am sure that's what sizeable amount of people who read your post inferred because that's what the statement meant especially when you consider the whole post in context. |

I see threads and comments of young guys on here validating cheating and expecting wives to be fine with it at their own detriment not the wife and i shake my head, know this today that any wife that accepts the cheating habit of her husband is bidding her time, . you do not know the end result except for the ones that have the fear of God and even at that, God has a way easing the pain of such wives, we have emotions, deep emotions and we feel intense hurt when being cheated on. any woman that try to cope with a cheat has deaden her heart towards him and the pain, she is emotionally dead, she is in that marriage because of the kids and most times cheating to ease her sexual urges, do unto others what you want them to do to you, stop hurting women then brag that it is your right, you will pay for it as far as God is on the throne, stop cheating, stop hurting good loyal women. You are right with the bolded. @ topic this matter is very simple be a good husband and a good father and all will be well. Shikena. |

You will still wed in that church and pass through their strict policies. That doesn't stop you from informing her parents your intention it's quite gentlemanly. Ask for their daughters hand and get ready to face the marriage committee, I wish you the best. Non alcoholic wine is good to visit them with. Then your people can come with you later on. |
