Bad parenting. If you fear your parents you won't misbehave. There are many who are not in school but are well cultured.
Simple.

I know a 24 year old male who says he always hears his mother's voice at the back of his head anytime he intends misbehaving.

As old as some married men are they won't drink alcohol at their parents home they respect them that much

For a child to taunt another child for not having a washing machine or a dish washer at home, it's clear that his parents have failed.

Behaviour like that can only be learned from the adults in a child's life.

It's good to plan ahead of this things, because they are the ills that will always be in a social enclave.
The moment my boy turned 6 I enrolled him for martial arts and boxing training.
Plus I have already inputed the ideology that loosing the fight is not the big loss, but rather not fighting at all.

This is what we find ourselves in as parents so let's make sure they are mentally and physically equipped to at least survive in the cruel world we brought them into.

I would spank my son if he comes home to tell me someone is bullying him, with a 5years martial arts and boxing experience,
I know how much I dey pay for him boxing classes alone, where I come from we don't waste money, so if He doesn't fights off his bully and send a good don't try this with me signal he has wasted my money ☹️
Una no go kill persin on NL grin grin

Interestingly my elder cousins children got registered for karate when they were young, around 4 and 6, I always underestimated the hii and haa they were always shouting during practice until one of them hit me on my back, I was shocked at the amount of pain that small hit did to me, this happened years ago children I senior with more than 10 years.

Bad parenting on the part of the parents of the 3 evil boys who carried out this act, maybe if they were properly trained they wouldn't be so evil.

Negligence on the part of the school, how in the world would the school claim they do t know high level bullying is happening right under their noses, it's a private school and they are paying well they have no excuse. Kids went into the room and beat up a boy so badly and the house master was not aware? What then were the parents paying for?

Lack of discipline on the part of the school, fear of losing rich students, these students must have been reported before

Most private schools are just after the money, anything that will make a parent withdraw a child lots avoid it. It's all about the money money money.

I hope some schools will learn now and expel unruly students before they commit offences that will lead to situations like this, everything is not about losing students if a student is unruly and can cause potential harm send him back to his parents shikena.

Okay I didn't go to a boarding school practically most of the watsap groups I belong to are discussing this same matter.

On my secondary school watsap group , one of us who was a transfer student from a FGC (boarding school) was saying what they did to that boy was what people have been doing to juniors since in govt schools but since it's a private school it should never have happened and they should have been properly monitored he told us what his eyes saw as a junior student before he transfered to my school.

Told us stuffs like they were made to drink kerosene, Taken to the Bush to fetch water by 3 am, very strange stuffs.

He now said on the FGC watsap group people began to share their experiences, some made voice notes and were actually crying about the ordeal they passed through in the hands of their students.

We finished secondary school around 16 years back and the pain and memory seems so fresh for this people. The guy said his children will never go to a boarding school.

I now asked how far with all those wicked seniors, how far have they gone in life.

He said ironically when they began counting all those wicked ones both male and female seniors are dead, I just shock.

Chai oo

Then it means acts of bullying almost like this have been happening to other students, will the school say they are not aware, it's not a very large school I think, don't they have housemasters/mistresses?

Parents should never ignore the concerns of their children, they should always try to investigate further, it's just breaking my heart.

The parents were very careless, they didnt listen to him when he told them to change his school, very careless parents. Now they have lost their only child and son. You noticed a change in the behaviour of your child for bad, how lean he got and you didnt do anything, how unusually quiet he has become. Parents of these days think their only responsibility is to provide money for their children. They dont take care of their psychological and emotional needs. I am an Educationist, have also taught in a school and I know what I am saying.

I feel so angry about this.
Wow are you certain of this info then that should have been a red alert for a lot of parents.

Meaning the bullying didn't start newly.

I can't erase that video from my mind the boy was in so much pains.

They press release is out there and nowhere did the school state the cause of the boys death as it is currently unknown.
They stated the injuries he reported to the school's doctor..

You seems to be a straw man expert, making up argument as you please.
When someone challenges your view, it is not the end of the world. The right approach
is limit the discussion to what was actually said.
Nothing said so far incriminate the school or anyone else.

Nope, most parents who have issues with school never go to the press.
They report erring students and teachers to the school first and if the issue involves violence,
they make police report.
There are at least 5 persons in the hospital with that kid, it is impossible they are all too busy to make a report.

What is better competence in treating an injury supposedly sustained during a football match?
Did you expect them to conduct X-rays, MRI and the rest over a trivial leg injury as reported?
FYI, that is not how medicine is done. You work from the simple to complex treatment as a case progresses.

What kind of better treatment did they give your kid?
Did they conduct X-ray, MRI or CT scan to determine if he has internal injuries?
Nope. They treated him based on what he reported just like Dowen did.

So what did you do after getting a call?
Hire an ambulance?

Are you sure you are even following the story?
Since Dowen did treated the kid when he reported, I don't see any point here.
Dowen is also not a mind reader to have known what led to it. They work with what they were told.
They obviously won't go around asking every student whether the boy really played football!

Again, not all injuries involve visible cuts, bruises and large blood loss. Some are well hidden even
to the patient and only starts to shows worrisome symptoms few days after the event.

For a similar story not involving a school, read this one.
https://dailypost.ng/2021/03/18/14-year-old-schoolgirl-beaten-to-death-by-male-classmates-in-abeokuta/
Yes, the parents failed to read their daughters mind and she died!

Lynch mob isn't justice, it is perversion of justice.
Stop trying to defend the school. You keep on saying they didnt report. You keep saying nothing is incriminating the school or anyone else, the bullying the boy reported, the boy and roommates were bullied to silence, the names he mentioned, the stuff they forced him to drink is not incriminating? Did all these not happen under the watch of this same school?

Dowen college was negligent that's the point, what do you mean they are not mind readers, they said they investigated, investigation is digging deeper to find the truth did they do that no?

Everybody with common sense should know that's more than a football leg injury, if the schools in house doctors is interviewed about his opinion more facts will emerge.

if the so called caregivers can't know their students are being bullied they are not fit.

The parents should fight it to the last, I pray they have the tenacity of Don Davis mother.

Stop looking at this through the eyes of a doctor, I suspect you are one.

There are other variables to this case

That's has been always my take on unruly students Expel them ASAP b4 they wreck havoc buh our money making owners of schools will never do that instead they cook stories against the victim
After closing the Dowen school for life the owner should be prosecuted and if found guilty, should be executed to serve as deterrent to others gullible school owners.
Thats the way lots of these private schools operate. Fear of losing a student and the money in fees will not make them expel the student.

Will private school owners listen? Money money money is the driving force. I am almost certain those boys didn't start their unruly behavior today.

If parents can't train their children well from home, a school has a right to expel unruly students that will cause problems like this for them

I thought as much, that boy was poisoned.

Point is his roommates might not even talk when interrogated because of fear parents of the roommates may even prevent their children from saying what they know to protect their children.

If that boy had spoken up earlier he might have been saved, fear.

Bullies instill so much fear in these children they can't even talk

A set of boys 14-16 years max forcing a boy to drink and beating him up without even fear or remorse while threatening all of them.

Parents should up their parenting skills

Either way all those that were involved, the boys oo, their parents who allegedly flew them out, even the school that didn't investigate properly and stated after thorough investigation, all of them will have their own share of justice/vengeance.

Since it's bullying and he mentioned names they most likely gave him something poisionus

Na wa oo which kain rubbish is this one.

Why banging a child's head on the table or even at all, a million and one things could have gone wrong. To the extent a tooth flew off that's terrible.

There's one shekusheye school behind my house that I almost always have BP during my leave, this lady channels her frustrations on the children, I thought we were the only one that noticed until one day one woman from the compound beside theirs called her out over the fence o and lambasted her seriously that does she want to kill the children.

The 2nd time a mother came and confronted her for hitting her sons head on the wall, after the whole brouhaha and the mother left this lady was still confronting the boy that you went to report me abi blablabla.

After these two major incidences the only thing we hear is children playing and we all have our rest from this woman's wahala.

You guys should not let this slide, then withdraw your child from the school. They all know the implications of what happened that's why they are not picking their calls. That's how they will cover up more terrible things.

As for the bad boys you remember, are they still "bad" boys today?
Did their bad boy image in secondary school affect them or their parents/guardians today?
Technically all thief Na thief but a child licking milk might not get punished but corrected only, if he steals a phone then the thiefery is on another level. Thief get grade. There are some things you won't expect a child to do.

Okay ooo, he's still accused, if truly he is stealing they will catch him red handed.

Oh please, don't be willfully patronizing to her... No one is twisting her words.

She is gloating, plain and simple... It's as obvious as the white on rice.

She's talking about being "worried" about the image of a boy in a boarding school that he will eventually graduate from and probably never see anyone from there again, a boy that hasn't even been proven guilty...

Like seriously, what image can anyone have in primary/secondary school that will follow them for life? cheesy
It's a non-issue as far as the trajectory of a person's life is concerned.

Such faux concern for his image is bullshít because he is but just a boy, not an adult. You don't write-off a child you love, and this is how I know for a fact that she doesn't like him.

Would she type in that manner if the boy were her own son, or perhaps she's one of those people who will scream "my son can never be involved in something like this".

Let's try to be reasonable, shall we?

A lot of you (if not all of you) stole little things here and there when you were kids, don't even deny it.... Yet it seems y'all still turned out okay.
Reasonable? okay, I personally can't condone a light fingered person in my home.

Most of the stealing lots of us did as kids /teens were licking milo and milk from pangolo and extra meat from pot and five naira change we keep in the pocket with the hope mummy won't remember and we still chopped better cane for it. cheesy

This boy is not attempting to steal what seems to be age appropriate, he's been accused of money and laptop for me it's a big issue, address the main issue, leave her aim out of it.

And yes his image and that of his guardians (OP included) are being tarnished even if it's a mere accusation. So even if the OP is concerned about herself and hubby she has a right to be after all he lives with them.

Besides I still remember the bad boys in sec school.

Another emotionally charged headline.

Dig deep enough and you will find out that the man is not saying it as it truly is. Another strungup79.

We need to hear from this wife. You will be shocked at the truths she will reveal.
You still remembers strungups story? It was Dec last year I think. That dude was a terrible person and the romance section Boys kept insulting the woman, pages upon pages of insult the woman couldn't bear it anymore and spoke up.

The man now came to tell the truth I am certain after some pressure from home,} the redpillers and the romance section Boys couldn't even swallow their pride and admit they were wrong. One particular so-called anti women red pillar that was jumping up and down couldn't admit the truth even when the owner of the story has said its not so.

How a man will allow boys to insult his wife online when he knows he's telling a wrong story baffles me, maybe it helped his ego feel intact to see unknown people bashing a woman that is even standing by you. I still cringe remembering that thread.

Anything to bash a woman ni sha. Even when a woman is the one feeding the man the woman will still be at fault. I really hope their marriage remained same because that woman would have been very hurt.

In Nigeria and Nairaland the odds are always against a woman.
