What's your level of Education sir? Dikebuka: When Shell explored oil the first time in the eastern region then, the place they sighted all their facilities was in Owerri which was incidentally one of the first place they explore for oil..it would interest you to know that iho which was one of the earliest areas oil and gas exploration was in imo state..they did not discover oil in commercial quantity then.
Shell some years back sold off there assets in Warri to marginal company and those companies sight their bases in lagos. These kind of thing can only happen in Nigeria. Shell has office in lagos, but the bulk of there asset which house the residential and industrial layout is in Port Harcourt. Same as Total and Exxon Mobil, and the servicing giants Halliburton and Schlumberger
I have asked you questions that relates with the oil and gas acts and the constitution. which you certainly don't. If those assets where under the control of the state, do you think most of these oil and gas firms will have their bases far away from state or region where their assets are.
Why do you think NPDC was sighted in Benin Edo state, If not for the fact that most of her assets are within Edo/Delta axis, though some assets are in imo
Let me explain few part of the oil and gas acts, cause I not legal studies though these relates to me.. It empowers the federal govt to give lease such as oil prospecting and mining lease to company of interest, it empowers the same government to give determine the nature of business whether joint venture or production service contract. it automatic makes the government the owner any oil and gas discovered in your backyard. |

Firstly I don't engage people who insults people while making their comments. It shows ill mannered and uncultured behaviours. However, for the sake of others reading this post, I will point out certain facts to you. 1) Resources to develop a Nation abound in the North and the most important factor of all these factors of production is HUMAN factors. 2) The North has substantial population which can be deployed into production by training them to acquire the necessary skills and education which are NOT inborn but acquired. Anybody can become educated and/or acquired skills. 3) The North has huge land mass which can and is producing rice, beans, maize, groundnuts, cotton and support Animal Husbandry. All these if properly harnessed, processed and exported can generate more fund than what Nigeria is currently generating from crude oil. The North has gold, Tin and many other mineral resources. 4) Why hasn't the North make use of all these resources to develop themselves? The Ans= NIGERIA and it's petrol Dollars. It's the same reason why Enugu and Ondo States aren't currently enjoying the wealth from their coal and bitumen resources. 5) Sometimes, we don't run until we see something pursuing us. That's when we know how far we can run. ContractKiller: What fictional alternative sources of revenue are you jibbering about? Is it the ones they have refused to use in bettering themselves for the last 100 years, even before the amalgamation?
Was it not because of the extreme poverty in Aboki land that the British decided on amalgamation with the South?
How exactly does anyone "quickly develop" with massive poverty, desert encroachment and being a landlocked country?
Kindly elaborate. I'm in the mood to hear some first grade stupidity this morning.

I have always asked the same question in the past until I discovered the answers; Higher institutions especially private universities are controlled environment where MOST people (because of their levels of education and exposure) believe they should support the system to be well organized and neat. If you put 70 area boys, okada riders, vulganizers, Agbo sellers and mamaput in this campus, after two months, the place won't be this neat. In the outside world, majority of the people don't believe that you should support neat environment and they do anything they like anyhow. You are wrong sir, 1) They have acquired tastes for 'good things' 2) They will quickly look inward for alternative sources of revenues which every region have in abundance 3) Corruption will reduce drastically because there won't be any surplus free money to loot. 4) The only real threat to the economic recovery of the North in the first 10 years post disintegration is Islamic terrorism because in the ensuring economic hardship in the first 24 months after the disintegration, Islamic fundamentists will want to grab power to proclaim a Caliphate. ContractKiller: All these flashy, superficial "achievements" would immediately fall into disrepair when these people eventually have to be on their own.
The fact still remains that were it not for the South generating 90% of this country's income you guys would remain as wretched and impoverished as your primitive lifestyles have destined you to be. |

I can't just stop laughing at what you just wrote.
Oil companies , Automobile or Cement manufacturing Companies unlike Public Corporation are all private companies and have the same liberty to set up their estates or offices anywhere.
The Government can NOT dictate to companies how and where they should set up their offices.
Suppose a 'Law' is promulgated that all oil companies should set up their head offices not more than 1 Kilometer away from their area of operation, what will now open to Chevron that have their oil rigs off shore, 60km away from the nearest Village on Nigerian soil?
What will happen if the company have oil fields in 5 States?
What if an oil company move from Ondo State to another State following discovery of oil there, say Anambra State or Borno State?
What if a company just rent a 3 bedroom flat in Yenegoa and designate it 'Head Office' to fulfill all righteousness but the bulk of their Staff are coordinated from a 20 floor skyscraper in Awka, Anambra?

That's another topic entirely. However, the forces of demand and supply determine the volume of Air traffic (especially Int'l flights) to and from airports. Airports are just like motor parks for land transportations. The volume of land traffic in Lagos and Abuja are higher than in the S/East. This is not due to marginalization but demand and supply. For instance, I wanted to travel to Yobe State by air some years ago but on getting to the airport, they told me that the two closest airports to Yobe are Gombe and Maiduguri Airports. Gombe was closer to my destination but only one airline was plying the Lagos-Abuja-Gombe routes and it was only on Mondays and Wednesdays! ContentedK: i can’t be typing long epistles like you do coz I’m a lazy typist, in all are you trying to imply that the old eastern region is not being marginalized? |

Airlines go to those airports sir. However, it may be once a week and may be 2-3 Airlines. These are determined by the demand from clients to and from those Airports. It's not due to any acts of marginalization as being wrongly peddled. Stella Oduah and GEJ would have lifted any embargo on those airports if it's embargo that are making them less busy. The same is obtainable in most parts of Nigeria. You will hardly see International flights to and from Ilorin Int'l Airport or Maiduguri Int'l Airport. As a matter of fact, the few places where you can get adequate and REGULAR air traffic are; 1) Lagos- Commercial Capital 2) Abuja,- Seat of Government 3) P/Harcourt- Oil city 4) Kano- Islamic pilgrimage All other Airports in Nigeria are not very busy. ContentedK: how many airlines are allowed to operate in those mentioned airports and mind you akanu Ibiam has been closed down for reasons best known to them |

They don't really have to travel to Lagos or Abuja. They can use Akanu Ibiam Int'l Airport, Margret Ekpo Int'l Airport, Calabar as well as Port Harcourt Int'l Airport, Port Harcourt. The volume of Air Traffic to Airports are determined by largely by economic factors and not necessarily marginalization as being peddled by Nnamdi Kanu &IPOB. It's just like residents of Aguleri, Mbaise, Afaraukwu and Afikpo asking why they have to traveled to Onitsha to board Marcopolo Buses going to Abuja instead of boarding Abuja buses directly from their home towns? There was no airport in Jigawa and Gombe States before 2023 but the Administration of Ex-Govs Sule Lamido and Danjuma Goje built International Airports in there States. We didn't see citizens of these States whining and wailing everyday on social media. There's no need for all these unnecessary victim mentality. ContentedK: please shut up coz it’s quite obvious you know nothing, the same Atlantic Ocean that goes through Lagos you’ll get in Warri, calabar, Uyo, rivers, but your kangaroo government has always made sure that non of those ports will maximize any of its potential all in the name of marginalization.. port Harcourt was just allowed to operate recently because of the congestion going on in Lagos sea port, which nobody even knows the fate of that port at the moment.. why must anyone from southeast have to travel to Lagos or Abuja before embarking on a foreign trip... Nigeria is a zoo simple |
