I think that Nigeria is developing democratically. Imagine if Nzeogwu had not struck,9ja wouldve been far more developed thhan we are now. Imagine if Buhari had allowed Shagari to continue, we wold've been better off than we are now.

So consciously/unconsciously, we're developing democratically as a nation and with time we'll learn to vote for capable leaders based on what we believe they can offer rathher than based on tribe and religion.

Truth be told, If men like Atiku,Obj or even Tinubu were President, do you think they'll allow the pple votes to count? So let's hail Pres. GEJ for doing his best in ensuring that Edo was secure for pple to vote for thheir prefered Candidates.

Congrats to Oshiomole
PoliticsRe: Tension In Plateau As STF Orders Fulani Out Of Ancestral Villages by Ozonna(m): 11:38am On Jul 15, 2012
This has gotten out of hand. Slowly we're disintegrating and I never believed that Nigeria would seize to exist by 2015 but its all falling in place. This is bad.

If you as a person discover that you always quarrel/pick fights with your neighbours, then you should look inwards and blame yourself. Cos it means there's something fundamentally wrong with you. The Fulanis needs reorientation and their leaders led by d Sultan should start doing something ASAP.

This is not to say that all tribes don't need reorientation, fact is we'll need it to keep Nigeria One. Even if we must divide, lte it be peaceful.

PoliticsRe: 5 Top Reasons Why Nigeria Must Not Break Up. by Ozonna(m): 12:18pm On Jul 10, 2012
alj harem: I can give you 5 reasons why Nigeria should not break up

1. No one wants to experience another civil war again

2. Nigeria market favours some of us that are traders especially hausas, yorubas and igbos

3. A country like niger-delta would be invaded by neigbouring countries eg baifra, cameroon etc

4. Each country would be the laughing stock of the world as our economies would mean nothing

5. Too much investment by other Nigerians in states/cities like Abuja and Lagos. I don't think they are ready to lose that !
I Like points 1,2,4 & 5. But Oga let's not mention 3. Cameroon? Maybe. Biafra? MBA!!!

I think I know where this will lead us to, Creation of "Ministry of Core North" and a Pledge by GEj never 2 contest in 2015 nor install any "Arne" as his successor. However, how will ND militants feel when the fG starts using their "Oyel"money to be settling Boko boys? Ur guess is as good as mine.

Therefore, the solution is still for GEj to present a "True federalism" bill personally to both houses of NASS. So that the Economy of core north'll settle Boko boys, ND economy'll continue settling Militants, Igbo economy'll settle MASSOB and Yoruba economy'll settle OPC,etc.

spyder880: Every Enugu man knows him, the Ani n' efu ngwu 1 of Ngwo town, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the home of the late Chief CC Onoh, one time governor of the old Anambra state, father of Bianca Ojukwu and owner of around 3% of all lands in Enugu urban. He is a son of Ngwo land.
That stone house was built by C.C.Onoh's Father in the 1930's.

[quote author=one.east]yes am a fan of Chimaroke, because he brought wealth and employment to enugu state. Even my people of Ngwo benefited immensely too. I remember the days of Rainbow Net and so on. We will support Okey Ezea 2015 or Ugo Agbala if he is coming out again. We need a governor that will revive the abandoned rural areas. [/quote

With all due respect sir, you're not an Ngwo man.Chimaroke Nnamani did not favour Ngwo pple,no political appointment the Sons and daughters of Ngwo. Ugo Agballah rigged d PDP guber primaries in favour of Chhimaroke Nnamani against Nduka Agu (Ngwo man) and it was alleged a curse was placed on him that he'll never be the Governor Of Enugu State.

Dude, you should've known dat Ngwo pple produce more than 40% of poultry products for enugu state. Even youths r now entering piggery. Agriculture is more of an individual thhing and it'll shock you to know d high number of youths entering farming not just in Enugu but Nationwide.

I'll dissect Chimaroke later prefarably in anoda thread

bestview: I hope you don't want this piece of a thread derailed into a war zone?

Do you know shoprite you are talking about has sent more Enugu state people into the roads of poverty? SA company has taken over and broke entrepreneurial chain in the state that empowers the common man. Ask an economist he will enlighten you better.

As for Peter Obi, he has brought FDI worth 15B, am talking of the greenfield Sabmiller brewery plant that will be commissioned soon in Onitsha. He has also brought the Koreans LG company that are building a world class electronic plant in Awka worth over 10B. He has invested billions for the future of Anambra in Orient Petroleum, the company that is developing refinery facility that will also be commissioned soon in Otucha- Anambra. This is what is called real investment and not just SA run supermarket. So don't just go there bro
OMG!!! Y ve u guys turning dis thread into Sullivan Vs Obi thread. Please kindly open your own thread and show us what Peter Obi has achieved in his 6yrs as Gov of Anambra State BIKO NU!!!
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Ozonna(m): 10:02pm On Jul 03, 2012
one.east:
My point is that the governor should stop deceiving himself. He should concentrate attention in rural areas to empower the people over there. Even the road from 9th mile to my house at Ngwo is quite unmotorable.

I had to pack my car at 9th mile all thru the xmas because of inaccessibility of the rural communities. I so much wish that my lovely state Enugu will soon develop eveningly more especially rural, just like we are seeing in our sister state Anambra. Can you imagine that I was amazed when I got to Agulu last month it was already developing into a town because of govt provision of accessible infrastructure.

Places like Ekwulobia and Umunze are presently witnessing influx of people, business and bank presence due to accessible roads there reducing rural-urban migration. I want to see a day when places as Udi and Nsukka of over 100years will be revived for people to live and trade/work and attract businesses. Before now Chimaroke commenced construction of an International market along the expressway after 'ugwu onyeama', the project was to trap huge capital flight leaving Enugu state on daily basis to Onitsha for shopping, this governor should have completed the project instead he has gone on a wide goose chase, leaving the rural areas to rot. Even farmers cannot transport their wares due to inaccessibility.

We cannot keeping praising a failed governor who is merely running maintenance and painting of roads on already existing infrastructure. We in Ngwo cannot wait for a capable hand to take over government soon.
Oga biko what part of Ngwo are you talking about dat's inaccesible? You want Sullivan to Tar ur compound? Dude dat man's doing his best (albeit by 9ja standard). He's started fixing rural roads and connecting villages. Was in enugu last may and I was told by somone in govt that Ngwo road'll soon be fixed by nxt year. Infact construction companies have started bidding for it (and I hope d govt won't disappoint)

You mentioned about Agriculture and since you claim 2 be from Ngwo, did u not see d poultry, piggery boom dat town is experiencing. Youths in dat town have embraced Agriculture.

I'm suspecting you're either a fan of Chimaroke or like someone here said you're Chino, whoever you are pls be objective. Enugu may not have wealthy citizens like Anambra but it still doesn't take away the fact that Enugu state is Working and indeed To God be the Glory

BusinessRe: US Investors To Build 6 Refineries In Nigeria by Ozonna(m): 1:08pm On Jul 03, 2012
likeme: So Nigeria's Trade Minister, Olusegun Aganga has signed an MOU with a certain Vulcan Petroleum to build 6 new modular refineries worth $4.5 billion... & I laugh in Swahili!

Well, in the first place no western investor will commit to building a new refinery in Nigeria just now. The Chinese state companies can build refineries but they would have bargained for other things.

It's just a total mess that Aganga is working just for the sake of getting activities on & not necessarily to achieve real change. I'm sure the way Aganga is discharging his duties to Nigeria is not the same way he managed his portfolio while at Goldman Sachs!

Sadly, the same Vulcan Energy signing this refinery deal is a subsidiary of Vulcan Capital who have a history of contract breaches & controversies.

The promoters of Vulcan Energy signed a contract with Sokoto state government in 2008 to build independent power plants in 6 months. Well after the exchange of millions of dollars & 4 years down the line, the IPP project is yet to see the light of the day!

Another Vulcan Capital's subsidiary was awarded a power plant contract in Iraq in 2004 and this was also marred with accusations of bribery & lawsuits on breach of contract.

Various cases of contract breaches have been filed & won against Vulcan in the US and oddly in some instances, some of the lawyers of Vulcan have withdrawn their legal services from Vulcan due to unpaid legal bills.

Well, Mr Aganga in his wisdom deems it fit to sign a refinery deal with an investment company (not even a refinery operator) with a chequered history. The question is how many refineries do Vulcan operate in the world currently?

Meanwhile it is obvious Nigeria does NOT need new refineries at the moment when it will be more cost effective & scalable to put our current refineries to work optimally.

Recently a refinery expert in the UK, who has consulted for various government & private owned refineries, including NNPC told me that, "Nigeria does not need new refineries just now. No serious investor will build new refineries in Nigeria. What Nigeria needs to do is to ensure the existing refineries are made fully functional & effective. But that might never happen!"

So the final question is why are top refinery operators in the world & major international oil companies not building refineries in Nigeria? Why is Aganga signing an MOU with "a certain" Vulcan Energy all in the bid to show that government is doing something? Well, do the maths! ...Tope
Can someone please respond to this post? This guy raised some good issues here about the company.

prettyliz: we can post articles to console ourselves..but it still doesn't change the fact that there were some truth in what the prof. Said.
$

If the Prof criticised our economy alone, no problem. However,to insult our President was
Crossing the line.Buhari has never insulted GEJ neither has El Rufai. The opposition have never insulted GEJ (except during election) so y should a foreigner? An African Americanman can call his fellow black man "NIGGA" no problem but a White American can't cos it's offensive/racial comment to do so.

Therefore, its the exclusive preserve of "Nigerians" to insult Pres.GEJ.

dedeike: Post sack blues by Azazi ft Bello Haliru. You want Gej to arrest a former Head of state abi? Pls when ever they want to effect such arrest on Buhari, they should tell me so that I will pack my bags and head to my village. It's not as if Gej cannot arrest Buhari but he acted very right to avoid such arrest. Let me tell you the likely consequences of such arrest. 1. Buhari himself will never co operate with the security agencies so the real aim of extracting information from him will be defeated. 2. While he's in detention, the opposition in Nigeria led by Tunde Bakare will mount a groundbreaking Occupy protests in Lagos and so many haters are beckoning for such opportunity to come so that they will rubbish Gej. 3. ACN and CPC will heavily poiticise the issue as a deliberate witchunting of the opposition. 4.The entire North West will explode in protests and thus draw more support for Boko Haram. 5. Buhari will come out from the detention and earn more popularity overnight. 6. Renouned Gej haters on Nairaland will now have more ammunition to attack the president as being clueless and vindictive against his opponent. Abeg I no follow. Now I even know why Azazi was sacked.

PoliticsRe: Brazilian President To Lead Delegation Of Businessmen To Nigeria by Ozonna(m): 10:22pm On Jun 21, 2012
PapaBrowne: Go to the creeks of the Niger Delta. Escravos as an example. The white folks you are talking about have almost completed a $9 Billion project. Its called EGTL. Check it up. They were there in thousands when the Niger Delta was one of the most insecure places in the world.

Go to Baghdad. They are there in droves. They are putting in their money aplenty. Even Afghanistan has them. Or is it southern Sudan. Them plenty

Or is it Mexico. In the last 6 years, Mexico has lost over 50,000 people in the drug war. That's much more than all the religious crises Nigeria has experienced.

Investors understand opportunity. Northern Nigeria might be a no go area(They weren't even planning on going there in the first place- security or not) but the rest of Nigeria is awash with opportunities.

Anytime I'm flying into Nigeria, I always ask myself, whats bringing all these foreigners to Nigeria. The plane is packed with them. Aren't they scared of Boko Haram?? A few years ago, it was mainly Asians you'll find on the planes, but now, its Italians, Americans, Koreans, French, Germans and all of them. And the interesting thing is that they are now seeking other opportunities beyond oil.
SPOT ON!!!
