When I was a kid spending my holidays in Ijebu Ode, I saw a black snake one afternoon. I went to the backyard to do something and saw the black snake sliding away from me very quickly. As soon as it saw me, it slithered away quickly towards the bush at the end of the big backyard of my aunt. Many animals always avoid contact with human beings. I think it is a natural phenomenon that God has created between Man and Animals. I have also seen Tigers and Lions run away from human beings except they are hungry or something.

I remember when i used to fly kite in my neighbourhood during the holidays. Kite made from broom sticks and polythene bags and a strong thread that can make it go a long distance. The yesteryears...I dont see kids flying kite in my neighborhood, may be its where i live. DSTV, Playstation, online games are what majority of children in the urban area play. Some still play football in their compound.

The era of flying kites in Nigeria is over. Sad, but it is over. People are scared to let their children go out of their sights now. Kids hardly play around the streets of the neighbourhoods these days, due to the fear of Kidnappers and Child Molesters. Then all these ritual killings and voodoo occurrences have made things worse. Kids still play football in their homes though if the compound has enough space.

Then we used to read the Archie Comics . I never really understood the comics but I loved the pictures and colours. The Archie Comics were around and popular in Nigeria in the 80's to early 90's. I was a kid then. But I remember the Archie Comics.

You can even initially get a cleaning job with a Cleaning company ( There are many of them ) just to know how to clean properly and within a month, you should start looking for your own clients. I know someone who is grossing about £2300 monthly working as a Self Employed cleaner with his own clients and customers. I told him to keep to himself and not to discuss what he is doing with anybody. If you position yourself on ebay for 10 months and sell the right things ( Do your research ), you can make very good money you can use to process your Residence in Canada, Australia etc. This is something Nigerians hide from each other in the UK and USA. But I am spilling it to you here. Another thing is, having a good head and spirit will help you a lot and attract people who need your services to you. Good head and spirit will help you a lot. Look here, Naija guy . Forget about the 10 or 20 hours job rights they give you with your study Visa. The money you will earn from working 10 or 20 hours weekly cannot help you live comfortably once you land in the UK. Attend your lectures. Take your lectures seriously and don't run foul of the regulations concerning your Visa. But please become Self Employed. Once you have your Bank Account, you are good to go. Focus on the dirty jobs like Cleaning especially. People don't like to clean in the UK as it can be painstaking and hard work. Look for your own clients and start cleaning their homes or offices. Nobody looks at a Cleaner twice or bothers Cleaners. They often see you as a unfortunate person or Asylum Seeker or Refugee trying to make a living for themselves. If you are in your 20's, late 20's or early 30's, follow my advice. Join Cleaning Agencies or advertise on classified websites for your clients. You will make very good money,I tell you. Just keep to yourself and don't disclose earnings to friends or classmates. Read about how to set up a Home Cleaning business via google. You can also sell stuff on ebay at the same time. Remember within that 2 years you would have to pay rent, buy food and other expensis and as the individual you quoted have said, the jobs are not guaranteed, You could still be Jobless in the first 8 months.


Other European countries, US or canada could still deny you visa.

The secret in the UK is to know what you are doing as an International Student. You can attend your lectures and do some very good business runs in your free time. You might not even need to look for work while studying. That 20 hours per week work hours given to you will not be enough to take care of your day to day expenses. Become self employed and go into Residential Cleaning business. No one can limit you when you do the so called 'Dirty Jobs'. I won't say more than this. With the money you make, you can process your Canadian PR or Australian PR ETC. You can even save enough to start a cottage industry back in Nigeria, if you know what you are doing. I am not talking about Post Study work. I am talking about earning money during the 12 to 15 Months of your Master's Degree Program. Peace.

We don't encourage our children to make things and be creative. We don't help them put their minds to use and start making things from a young age. But we encourage our kids to become Pastors and Men of God. We clap for them when they memorize the Bible and Quran from beginning to the end. And then we start complaining that our kids cannot get jobs when they graduate from Universities and Polytechnics. Did we encourage them to use their minds at all?
