Kai.... just terrible. Is there anything left of dignity in Nigeria. Is there anything that is ordered, normal, organised.... even the basics of administration. Sheer failure of state institutions in dramatic fashion, right before the world's eyes. So shameful. Where else have I ever seen this kind of thing happen, even in fellow third world, banana republics. What is wrong with this country sef?.... ![]() |
Westernlove:That is why they can give themselves billions for furniture, clothes and cars without fear and at the expense of the people who say and can do nothing. Because they know the people believe the resources are not theirs but belongs to whoever is Chief Executive. Because they know the average Nigerian doesn't know what the real definition of government is. They think it is some Oba, or Emir or Igwe.... or King of some kingdom where the wealth belongs to the sovereign to share as he personally pleases. And by extension the king must be the wealthiest personality in the kingdom. Anyway, one day democracy will start to work in Nigeria, when the sun rises on our collective psyche. |
Puss360:Hmmm..... thankful... chai.... Nigerians... ![]() What a feudal society. Madam, it is your money. Every resource in Nigeria belongs to you all. These people you fear and tremble before are only distributors, organizers of society, association treasurers of the money you contribute.... NOT OWNERS OF THESE RESOURCES. Abeg, Nigerians should elevate their thinking. Stop electing people you fear and cannot control. |

sonofsteven:It is not an issue of insecurity. The root of this matter which should be the 'first address' is that of perceived socio-political injustice. We all know this and if government at any level wants to tackle this issue in sincerity it must start there. To either disprove that it does not exist or solve it if it admits there are injustices. when the 'wheat is separated from the chaff then whatever is left is pure criminality. So whether it is boko-haram, banditry, 'herdsmenace', niger-delta agitation or south eastern secession, the first move will be to analyse and breakdown the problem into facts and fiction, rights and wrongs, agitation and criminality and handle them appropriately. |
This is counter productive and will only escalate the situation, driving the people deeper into desperation and unknown territory. Dialogue is the only way intransigent situations are resolved. Coercion has never worked. Only a counter ideology can shorten the tragedy. |
Yves4real:The people are lax and uninterested in their investments in this democracy. They vote and vote, lose and win elections after elections yet cannot see any dividends and still will not question their investments. A regime has just ended, the past government has not been called to account on their stewardship despite obvious deep flaws and failures. Everyone just moves on, writing off the losses and reinvesting in the same portfolio.... 'hoping' for a different outcome..... how? |
He has conveniently avoided the fact that his party has been in government since 2015. This is the ninth year. Can he now tell us how many years or decades it will take them to turn the ship of state around. |
Hmmm..... I've travelled the world to learn.... I must return from Russia with love.... ![]() |
I use all networks and all of them have outages at different times and sometimes even go down simultaneously. There is no cheap, efficient solution to reliable calls and data services in Nigeria. Telecommunications suffer the universal problems afflicting service providers and the nation in general. |
Samueliyobosa:This is a pathetic excuse. Flooding is not due to the presence or absence of a road so fixing the roads will not necessarily stop the flooding. After all roads get flooded and washed away eventually. The problem is the lack of stormwater infrastructure in major cites. That is not a Federal task. What does it take the State to find the closest river to that area and channel the flood. |
What did Nigerians BARGAIN for. When did they call the candidates to BARGAIN. Were the campaigns not jamborees. Were the few town halls not lectures. Were the debates not avoided by the politicians and excused by the people. Nigerians sold themselves to these folks based purely on antecedent which were largely padded with propaganda just as in 2015. In 2015 the talk was, 'he was Mr. Discipline and Mr. Anti-corruption. See what he did in 1983 as military Head of State.... that is why I will vote him in 2015, 32 years later. Last year it was, 'he governed Lagos between 1999 and 2007 and made it the mega city'.... that is why I will vote him in 2023, 16 years later. Will any of them marry a mate they met in primary school decades ago without caring to know who the person has become since and what the person wants for the future? Will they say courtship is irrelevant because they knew the fellow a decade ago? But that is how we choose our leaders in the most populous black nation on earth and then expect miracles. We employ without examination or interview and then act surprised when it did not turn out the way we expected. What do you call that.? |
Exceed15:What you mean are fresh ideas. Which the leaders of Nigeria always lack. The service chiefs have been there for a couple of weeks now. This outing will have been an opportunity to display new initiatives. I always say the problem with governance in Nigeria is lack of strong intellect. We operate a syllabus kind of government where one leader after the other sings from the same hymn book. The only difference is the intonation, the details are similar. 'Using the full machinery of State' means what exactly. Was the former government using half? What does this mean? No one except them knows. The public is left with no details. Governance is very watery in these parts and due to weak to insitutions every President is on a local mechanic kind of trial and error, reactionary run with governance. No one comes in hitting the ground running in reality. With Mr. Tinubu's closeness to government the past 8 years the pace and direction of change is a bit disappointing. It is surprising that there appears no preparation for a lot of things. That is why there is no fundamental problem that has been solved in Nigeria since independence. The country has been on a steady decline ever since. |
Oritna94:Better demand for restructuring for there is no human born in Nigeria that can change this country without the express permission and support of ALL citizens. |
In only 8 and a half years, see what the APC has turned Nigeria to. President Buhari and his infamous government will go down as the biggest democratic mistake of modern times. 'It is his right, it is his right.....' the ignorant people were chanting. His right to do anything he felt as a bonafide autocrat, a juggernaut without brake or steering. His right to borrow wily nily, his right to print naira recklessly... knowing not that they all supported their doom. Today we are looking for the products of all the borrowings and naira photocopy to help re-float the economy.... alas none. No jobs created, no businesses established, zero productivity. It all went to contractor friends, family and consultant ass-lickers to squander, share and waste on white elephants that have proven to be sterile. This is the result. Today they have dumped the problem on the hapless citizen that could not hold them accountable for all of 8 years to solve by giving an arm and a leg while they still roam around town in their limousines and sit to plot the next heists on their 70 billion naira furniture. What a feudal country this is teeming with the weakest citizens on earth. Not even one dissenting voice demanding for accountability for the disaster of 8 years. Not one. |
TUTU147:This is the problem with narrow mindedness amongst a lot of Nigerians. The inability of Nigerians to get things working. The inability to repair things and get them working That there is corruption in an institution does not mean the institution is corrupt. That an institution is ineffective does not mean that it should not work. The plugs in your car are bad, you repair it. You don't sit down and say cars are bad and should not be driven. Change the corrupt fellows and move on and hold government to account. Wake up Mr. Citizen. The NLC as an institution has every right to insist for social justice for its members and the right to use every legitimate means in its charter to get it. If the Judiciary is standing in its way it will push back. |
Does the average Nigerian know how to hold the Judiciary accountable. Does the average Nigerian desire an independent Judiciary or one under the thumb of the Executive. The answers lie in The Legislature. It is the Legislature that superintends over the Judiciary so to get an independent, functional judiciary Nigerians must insist on an independent and viable Legislature. But we are apt to place all our eggs in the Executive basket giving a typical President unlimited powers over the other arms of government so there is no modulation of governance and so we cannot complain when the accelerator says the brakes should not work when a collision is imminent. Institutions are there for a reason. We must dispose of our feudal tendencies to benefit from democracy. Democracy is not like our traditional institutions where the word of the king is law. Democracy is all about give and take, constant negotiations in conflict resoultion for the good of the citizenry. |
madridguy:That final against Nigeria in 2000 was terrible. The referee was out to ensure Nigeria did not win that match. The man hated Nigeria passionately despite all Adamu"s ass kissing. |
Nigerians get all dis management sense yet cannot elect good leaders..... ![]() |
Your contact there is extremely weak (student), almost non existent. You should be worried yourself that if anything serious happens to you there you will have scant cover. |
What is about the one letter replies above. Has the government cut your tongues...... hahahaha.... ![]() This is what is called INFLATION. The number one adversary sane governments the world over fight tooth and nail to overcome. Our government here lit the fuse and went to bed, instead of moving immediately to either sound the alarm or build bunkers for safety. They left the common man to be shredded like suya. If the fuel price rise is causing all this and the daily naira depreciation is causing the fuel price rise now and in the future then Nigeria as a country is locked into a vicious cycle of hyperinflation. Every passing day the government is losing control of the economy which they have failed to interact with TILL NOW. How we will get out of this will prove the ability of this government to govern. The era of propaganda is over. Mr. Tinubu. CALL IN THE CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY and dialogue with those who are heavy users of foreign exchange before it is too late. Chase away the teeming hordes of politicians gallivanting around Aso Rock. They are useless in bringing Nigeria out of this quagmire. Your visitors should be those who have the key to national productivity, to get them operating at 110% with every available Nigerian based resource. What a mess. Kai, 'kindergarten-ers' in power. |
I understand that elements in the police are saying that regular patrols will be reduced due to the escalating cost of running their ops vehicles. Inflation is almost eclipsed the entire economy and is seeping like the much sought after cheap gasoline into unknown areas where it will meet with naked flames.... |
The funny thing about most ignorant remarks here on the ICC and its warrant is that United States is not even a signatory to the Rome Accord. and does not in itself recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC and does not hand over its own citizens acting in official capacity to any legal jurisdiction outside its shores. Together with China, Iraq, Israel, Qatar, Libya and Yemen the US vetoed the Rome Agreement. So this has little to nothing to do with the United States or Biden or whatever. The ICC is essentially a European born and led establishment and the extent of US involvement will be to help its allies with its policing reach and influence. The US is not concerned if Putin is arrested or not. Abeg, make una try read to gain some understanding. If the US wants to bring anyone to justice they will bring the person to US shores, not send the fellow to the Hague. |
ChybuzzDD:They seem to think we have all forgotten how acidic their attacks were on anyone who opposed the Buhari regime back then. And on many occasions permitted the things that has brought this country to where it is. Then you will hear funny terms like, 'it is Mr. President's right to....' so this and that, totally acknowledging the failure of state institutions to protect the constitution and the citizens. His right to borrow wily nily for unproductive ventures, the failure of the institution of legislature in checkmating the past government is behind the rampaging inflation today. Yet they fought anyone who dared to differ. Today they are back as economic experts all over the forum to diffuse the bombs that they help to set. And as usual lend they blind support to their pet government. A government that in sane societies should not have won the elections purely on the grounds of non performance. Can any reasonable citizen of this country sit down and say why the APC should have been the best choice to pull Nigeria out of the APC mess. |
FreeStuffsNG:You guys are lately admitting that a lot, a lot of corruption and maladministration was going on under a regime you guys defended with your very lives and vociferously vouched for. I hope you will now have the courage and conscience to do two things. One. Call for the investigation of all these serial misdemeanors and the prosecution of all offenders. And two. Stop peddling more propaganda making parrots seem like eagles and lizards as ferocious as alligators. Call out your government and hold them to proper account this time around. The lack of honesty amongst the citizenry is responsible for their anguish today. Sentiment has brought us to our knees. |
Hahahaha.... why not. Did I join you folks to vote in this government. And having voted them in I did warn severally about inflation. Of course I would have personally prepared for bad governance. Factored in the damn thing for 2023 financials and counting. |
Ikaeniyan0:Cool, but still not enough for me to consider relocating. Kissed that place bye for good. Can only consider a place better than Nigeria as a whole. |
Someone who should have been serving the 9th year of a thirty year incarceration for gross corruption. Nigeria, a nation that cannot administer even the slightest iota of justice. Yet people dream, pray and posit prosperity. Ask them how it will come to the country and they have no idea whatsoever |
Why not trap it and take it home to cultivate. It shouldn't be that hard to catch in that state. Why, kill, kill, kill. We love killing. That man has survived this long is because we are given the wisdom of the Garden of Eden. To tender (care for) and to multiply (to cultivate). If we all depended on hunting for food humanity will have long gone into extinction having killed and eaten everything out there in the wilderness. Stop the barbaric culture of hunting. It is cruel and unsustainable. |
HenryThegreat1:Which kain question be.... 'Is this the final increase.' Don't they know what inflation is and why governments in saner climes fear it like war and pestilence. Inflation is a killer. It destabilizes the best laid out plans and erodes confidence to invest. It is a cancer that is on a clock of economic destruction and that is why intelligent governments move quickly to put out it's fires. On the news yesterday it was reported that England is gradually puling out of the spiral and energy prices have retreated significantly from last year's peaks. So those who love to associate their country's failure with others are left orphaned as much of the developed world is in recovery from the Ukraine war. I said it the moment energy and currency subsidies were removed. That government should immediately start to tackle inflation before it spreads to other vital organs of the economy but they all sat back basking in the election euphoria. Then they made the ultimate mistake of issuing import licenses for gasoline to people who do not earn foreign exchange. Where did they expect them to get dollars. Why did they not allow the NNPC which earns forex to be sole importers till a time the refineries are working. But no. Their favoured supporters stormed the forex markets with their licenses and have depressed the naira triggering more inflation which is now a vicious cycle of DOLLAR RISE, GASOLINE PRICE RISE. The two locked in a death spiral. And then winter in Europe will come and it will be game over. The only way out of this quagmire now is for Nigeria to join countries like the US to appeal to the big oil boys like Saudi to pump more to depress crude prices, if not N1,000 gasoline is just a touch away. Those licenses should be withdrawn. Gasoline consumption in Nigeria is down. We don't need 100 marketers to bring it in. NNPCL should use it's foreign exchange earnings to import till the refineries kick in then other aspects of the economy will not be destroyed by these crazy oil barons. Above all. What is the Tinubu led APC government ACTIVELY doing to fight inflation. We need to see solid government intervention for investor confidence. |
Buddha3:What else is there to say. We spoke about this extensively before the elections. The problem today is not the sacrifices that Nigerians have to bear. It is the fact that the people who made this bad situation over the past eight years will not be willing to tag along with sacrifices of their own. Because they have tasted the forbidden fruit of debauchery in government and cannot stop. In the end the sacrifices will just be wasted. Just wait till the cabinet is inaugurated and the wasteful and ultra corrupt system of 'contracting' kicks off in earnest, then Nigerians will know and feel what real and devastating inflation is about. |
Always reacting. Always behind issues of importance in Nigeria. Cannot fashion anything. Will NEVER take sides with the people to take government to task. |
