RaptorX:Tell the truth. You just wanted to show off some snazzy rendition.... ![]() If not I cannot understand the comparison between a box truck and a container carrier. Abi are there no shipping containers in your part of the world... ![]() |
richmond500:And why this is so important is that it then moderates ones life in all other relationships as you grow up and advance in life. You will learn to use words and not your fists when relating to your future spouse as is common in this part of the world. You will learn to use words and not AR-15's or shotguns when relating to your boss or co-workers as is becoming common in that great nation we admire across the ocean. Even leaders will be more comfortable communicating with citizens instead of what we see today. A little inquest and they take offence with law breaking retribution. |
Shokoloko:That is because 'the rod' in scriptures refers to the Word or the personality of Christ. Not the dogonyaro tree my mum used to love to harvest for 'debugging' in those days..... ![]() |
abbey621:If you do all these and cannot teach, instruct, guide and then task, assess, wash and wear again you still have not achieved anything. You don't graduate from school by your teachers just talking to you everyday in a lovable manner. There has to be a plan, there has to be a syllabus, there has to be instructions and there has to be a test. The quality of this determines how your kids will turn out. I have always considered violence as the preserve of the ignorant. When you have to use violence it means you are either not communicating well or communicating wrong. The child is not receiving or understanding what you want or how you want it. I cannot see what violence does to enhance this process. When a parent is enraged at his child it simply says I am angry with myself for not being able to do it. |
cococandy:Cannot agree more. Fear, coercion and the threat of violence has always been the glue that held most African relationships of every kind together. From marriage to parenting, from work to politics, leadership to public service. Its always the stick. The problem is that fear can only take you so far. It can buy short term loyalty but cannot spur independent reasoning and the liberty that fuels aspiration and creativity. You have tons of families here where children are bred like one trick ponies. |
Why flog the lad when he is not a donkey that cannot reason. Western nations are really tasking African parenting on how to do it in a cerebral manner. |
Poignant that the late famous actor could have perhaps been the best person to do a biopic on the very man of the present time. |
tomitrace:I hope Lagosians are reading. This is the end product of 'our land' syndrome. Eventually it will be yours....alone. Under democracy other states have advanced in leaps and bounds. And when they attain the threshold of infrastructural development there will be migration. |
Hmmm..... this is not good. |
Why can't the Federal government simply place a bounty on these animals just as the government of the United States did over two hundred years ago when the states were not yet properly structured and there were wide open, ungoverned spaces particularly in the west. Where law enforcement cannot reach you simply place bounties (catch or kill contracts) on the heads of these blood thirsty felons and in no time the place will be sanitized. That is when we have refused to break this terrible Constitution that has made law and justice the exclusive right of central government, a government that simply cannot handle its entirety. How can a whole 200 million strong citizen just sit idly as hostages, helplessly waiting for the institutional rescue that will never come and do nothing in vociferously demanding law and order franchise or all out self help. |
freemanq:...... ![]() |
CorrectionFLuid:Why will it smell within a week. All it collects is water off your body as you step out of the shower/tub. Except your bathroom is dirty or unkempt or poorly ventilated with those portholes Nigerian architects and builders call bathroom windows. |
Dialpad:You can say that again. If the right kind of bathroom mat cannot be found use a floor towel instead. There is nothing soft in bathrooms to cushion one's fall. RIP to the chap. |
And that is why I said sometime in 2012/3 that banks should be liable for money laundering where corruption amongst public officials is prosecuted. Like the case of the Accountant General, Ahmed Idris and the theft of 80 billion. How do you do this without bank involvement when they are supposed to report such transactions. And if we were doing things right in Nigeria obtain independent approval before permitting such movements. How can one person be permitted to sign off such humongous amounts. |
Risky for all parties involved. Chelsea is a tough club to manage even at best times and in Poch there is still something of an unproven quantity. Anyway we always want to see the very best coaches in the world in the Premiership. |
wisdomkid:If hope is the criteria for electing leaders then hope will be the only thing you will get as a citizen. On the other hand it is Yahaya Bello that put him there to serve him. Bello doesn't hope, Bello expects a return and it is Bello's interest only that will be served. You may get crumbs of the masters table. Sorry, but this is the reality of Nigeria's kind of feudalistic democracy. A weak, divided and largely ignorant citizenry are condemned to 'hope' on the mercies of their taskmasters. See them all over the pictures....peons. |
davidtemi:.....defenders.. , abeg don't start before this thread is derailed...hahahaha... |
Hmmm....may have brilliantly saved a lot... but some that he conceded particularly at critical periods were just calamitous...the stuff of butt jokes. Abeg leave golden gloves to to other sports like boxing... the criteria for selection is wack. |
What.... How come....sad. |
Oga Femi, I'm afraid it is too late, the horse has bolted. Your principal has sealed his legacy as arguably the worst leader this country has ever encountered. And all because he ignored the principles of democracy which will have piloted his administration safely through rough waters. |
Skyfornia:This is the typical attitude of the average Nigerian. Always excusing bad things as long as they have a chance to run away and hide. |
Hopefully she will get to study law, arm herself with the knowledge of rights and justice to fight the scourge and rescue others caught up up in this modern day tragedy. There are many things wrong with the black man, the African, the Nigerian. Tradition is a curse in this part of the world. |
In a democracy the government is only as good as the quality of citizenship and the determination of the people to compel it to do what is right. In Nigeria the people cannot even agree as to what is right and wrong, good government and maladministration so how can they drive government.... what is the point of expectation in the first place. |
It is safer for a woman of substance who lives alone to reside in a gated community or what is called 'estate' here where security is corporate as against personal and so that domestics can be tracked properly. |
Surprised it is this paltry.... |
Told you folks when you were all dancing around singing 'Mai Gaskiya' in 2014 that history recalls every single Cabinet Minister and Military Administrator that served under the Buhari regime in the early 80's became dollar multi-millionaires (multi billionaires by today's naira) despite the fact that it was one of the shortest lived governments in Nigeria's history and despite the hullabaloo about the infamous 'War Against Indiscipline' which in hindsight was meant to put the peons in the straight and narrow, not the kings and princes. Today the 'gods'have been completely demystified. Corruption remains an albatross, a monster that simply cannot be tamed as there are simply no weapons to capture it and no tomb able to imprison it. A nation that is structured to cultivate, promote and entrench corruption to the sorry extent that the more corrupt you are the better placed you are to serve the country. Just look at what is happening in the leadership race to head the second arm of government, the Legislature. Having the most corrupt amongst the lot to head the only institution of law making. So goes our future..... yet the ignorant, long suffering people continue to cheer at break time from tearing themselves apart. Sorry country, sorry arsed people. |
Scientists say about 40 tons of meteorite lands on planet earth each day. If people who live under metallic roofs are more attentive they can hear pinging and sometimes bangs from time to time. |
Win, win, win....that is all the interest. The real reason for winning are deliverables. So what has happened so far in the life of the administration to justify the street parties and met gala.... |
He refused to remove it because he knew there is scant accountability in his government. He knows if resources are not wasted on subsidies they will likely be wasted elsewhere. More money to government has never translated to a better economy for Nigerians. Has all the money spent on so called social investment programs moved the needle of misery away from the red zone of extreme poverty.. no. Has all the money spent on so called agriculture subsides reached the food markets to lay a glove on inflation.... no. Has all the so called school feeding reduced the number of out of school kids or the literacy levels.... no. Has all the money spent on vocationals created jobs or dented the massive unemployment rate..... no. So what does government spend money on that makes or will make (in future) Nigeria a better place.... ![]() No single citizen can say and vouch for. |
Moh247:Of course the 'man of the house' has every right to dine at the finest restaurant in town while explaining to his family that he has to borrow to put crumbs on their plate. But he doesn't expect to be treated well in old age and his legacy will be one of scorn, simple. |
arantess:Even if it has no dentist, why can't he invite the one he is going to see in London to Nigeria for the treatment. It will be far cheaper to fly him in first class and warehouse him in the best hotel in Abuja than the cost of this extra week Mr. President stays in London. |
Embarrassing to say the least. Why can't he at least invite these so called experts in London to set up shop in Nigeria so that we can all enjoy the same first class service. We need reorientation in this country tip to toe. |
