qwertyuioplm: Despite paying for subsidy and not a producing nation exchange rate moved from 140-180 ,what type of magic did he perform
Jonathan did not manage economy. Oil prices where high and oil theft was low so money was coming in. But it was already collapsing due to poor policies. Emefiele did a good job to help destroy anything left.
Despite the money from oil export, our economy experienced marginally low growth until Jonathan threatened IMF/World bank that he has done cassava bread and other rubbish so they should change their report
He did little to no reasonable investments except maybe for the New Federal universities, and the presidential scholarship schemes which to me is a failure because 95% of the people who got the scholarships ran out of the country with our money and have no plans to return with said knowledge.
We shouldn't decieve ourselves, all our presidents from 1999 to date have been failures. Maybe small exemption for Obasanjo but he should have done more. Yar A' Dua we keep claiming would have made a good president but I doubted that. His reversal of refinery sale gave room for money to be stolen via TAM maintenance under Jonathan and Buhari first tenure by so called cabals.
BunbleBee: Thank you very much.. My colleagues are great. The issue is the work itself. I do not want a career that limits me to one industry (especially when there are only two major players alot of the professionals here aim to work at). I do not plan to resign, I'm just concerned if it wise to take a lower pay (in the event I secure one) to actually do what I love especially when it offers diverse career paths.
Depends, if the lower pay is still sufficient to take care of your family and there's a clear opportunity for growth then you can consider it, else, start being passionate about that job oh..... Street is not funny.
Depends what industry you are in, you can work a few more years while using your spare bucks to set up your private firm in your area of passion.
BunbleBee: I currently work in a top firm in the industry as a young graduate and fairly compensated but I seriously do not like the team I'm assigned to. My team members are great but I do not see myself doing what we do in team in many years to come. Additionally, what the team does limits me to this same thing within the industry and the number of opportunities as a whole. The tasks are repetitive and not as technical like I would love. This demotivates me and does not make me actively develop myself in this field. I do not find joy in it. I have tried many times to switch teams but that did not work out for me. I work with members from the team I would like to join and I always wished I was in that team.
I'm determined to change this as early as possible as I believe this is the best time to take risk. I have decided that if I can't switch to my dream team, then I would have to find this dream in another firm (most likely smaller with lesser prestige but with opportunity to learn valuable skills). However, I am confused on if this is a wise decision.
I need your advice on this drastic decision I need to take.
Thank you all
What is the bigger issue here?
The nature of the job or the nature/work ethic of your colleagues
This feels like a dumb assertion from AIT. You mean they found a significant population of hawkers in states like Adamawa, Zamfara, Edo, Niger, Borno states and all others to be over 50% from Ebonyi? Which state is next and what percentage do they occupy.
marvellous2222: My wife calls her family for everything, once I'm broke she calls her mother to send her food items, I have begged her to stop, I have gotten angry yet she said she can't be hungry in a man's house when there's excess in her parents house, my wife can't manage 3k to cook for me, a family with just 2 kids, she'll call her elder brothers and tell them I gave her 3k to cook immediately they will send money for her.
Can't a woman water down her taste to keep her marriage? They don't insult me but I feel not man enough, I feel less of myself, my wife is from a rich home and the house we are living is a wedding gift from her brothers, she's an only daughter and they over pamper her, they don't allow her ask twice.
I remember I bought a car for her when she delivered our first child my brother in-law knew about it before the car arrived cause I ordered through his company, he changed the car to something twice the one I could afford without my knowledge, when they brought a car to the house I said this isn't what I ordered my brother in-law said their Ada can't be seen driving such after marriage.
They are planning to open a business for her and they didn't involve me in the plan, my marriage is not what I wanted cause I feel like I'm not man enough.
My wife doesn't appreciate gifts from me like when it's from her family, I got her a 75k watch she said thank you and for months she didn't use it, I had to remind her that there's a watch I gave her, but when one of her brother sent her a watch worth 260k she danced and used it always.
How do I handle this?
The best I can admonish right now is to keep taking care of her while focusing on yourself/business/career. Cause the signals of insecurities she picks up might keep pushing her off.
Bukola94: shaking my head, let them be deceiving themselves. And Joe and American will be preaching human rights. So they can't intervene and let Hamas or Palestinians innocent civilians and unarmed individuals to leave in 3days. So nothing like diplomacy in America and Isreal dictionary in this case. Africa should fear America and Isreal pass the devil
Yes to civilians but you don't warn a terrorist before you kill him or her.
TheOldGods: Nobody is talking about the big Elephant in the room, which is lack of electricity. This week I've spent 58,000 naira on fuel for my generator for work, that is full tank for alot of cars every week, and the car owners are complaining, what about us that need Electricity to work.
I barely get 6 hours of electricity, I tried buying solar, but the conditions are too much, turn off this, turn this on, don't use this bulb. Mehn, plus I can't turn on AC while working.
Since my work is from home I decided to buy a laptop worth 1million here on Nairaland (thanks to Nairaland) just to ease my work, atleat I get 4 hours of break in severe heated room with my laptop.
How else can someone survive in this country with this low electricity, is there any state that is better? Or is it a must I have to travel to another African country just to get simple electricity to work. My generator just went off and my fuel gone, that why I came here to rant. I'm going to buy feul at 615 naira per litre
Raise small money and install solar. The added beauty is that you can always upgrade the capacity.
Reminderz: Lol the responses might be funny but question is not, let even set the responses aside... Most men will even lay their lives to save strangers let alone a member of their own family...
Men go to war and fight for a cause they know absolutely nothing about to protect the country and the people..
Men will run into a burning building to save people trapped in there, these people are strangers to them...
Men will put their lives at risk trying to protect the streets from notorious criminals..
This same men will be expected to provide and also protect their families... This is even just the tip of it, what about some dangerous jobs where only men are found? And these jobs are the bedrocks of what we are now enjoying...
Men will willingly and sacrificially do all this without looking back...
Now you're talking his wife? Someone close to him? Someone he committed to?? He will do more than that if possible to save his wife... can you say the same thing about his wife? probably not.. Then how do they repay most of these men? Society will castigate him, feminists will wish he doesn't exist in a world he built and protected, and if he's extra unfortunate, his wife will frustrate the remaining soul out of him, while divorce courts will leave him for pigs to devour... Men love sacrificially, women love oppurtunistically... for strangers and families, men did all this... Sacrificing everything along the way... just to be called men, just to be respected but most are treated with dishonour...
You now see why feminists are deluded and foolish... If I was the president, I would decree that any self proclaimed feminist should be immediately sent to the front lines to battle terrorists and protect the people... the ones that said we don't need men will be immediately sent to do the dangerous jobs only men are put into while her fellow feminists in crime will be made to join her...
The question still stands, who will protect men?
Lol
Case study Ukraine. All the feminist are in Europe chopping life while the men are dying In the front lines.
Then those that transition their sex to men have also Japa
This is what a man is literarily expected to do in a relationship (marriage). He's sacrificing his abundant resources to give her a better life than she can give herself. Women are consumers in history while men provide and sacrifice. Even today with all the equality rant and women earning roughly the same with men depending on the field, many women still find it difficult to contribute in a similar sacrificial manner.
If he's not doing it (dying for his wife), either he isn't sure of his duties, or the wife is clearly undeserving.

Once a woman is facing challenges in her marriage, it must mean she wants a license to cheat.
Her husband isn't frustrated. He's evil. And later men will say that once a woman starts footing bills she begins to announce it. When they got married where in the Nigerian marriage rules is she supposed to foot everything? For a man to be comfortable being an infidel and watching his family sink, he is unbelievably evil. What stops him from working like his wife does?
Gambling with what money? That's a frustrated man?
She mentioned her virginity because it has to do with her beliefs and her experiences. She chose to be a virgin believing in love, thinking it would mean she would have a good marriage and successful life. That's why she's mentioning it and how her promiscuous friends seem to have it better. So clearly she knows why she decided to be one. Yet you traced her mentioning it because she wants to cheat and that is repulsive. Vaginometer.
Oga virginity obsession (in case you are obsessed because you are one, you are not the only virgin), virginity doesn't equate a good life, the discipline only helps when we allow it to permeate all aspects of our lives. These are some of the lies we were told instead of working to improve our situation and environment. She clearly doesn't respect her husband either as a hard worker or a gambler. She simply settled for him as he was what she had available.
I have addressed something similar before and truth is most of these mistakes come from modern day approach to dating and lies we are told.
You can help her pack back to her parents house but I can promise you it will likely bring even more regrets in the long run. It's only a good fix temporarily, to reset the man's brain or make him miss the children. It seems you are one of the men vs women crew so you can enjoy yourself.
This woman was more concerned about appraising herself than finding solution to the challenge.
You have only heard the woman's half of the story. Go ahead and crucify everyone based on that.
I'm adding this after cause I may not reply you after. Check the older generation, they have lots of husband's that misbehaved, but such man always had someone in his life that would let him know he is mad and must get out of the house... Even if for a while, the man will leave the house to do concrete work or anything he has to do.
Clearly the man here has no such people in his life or maybe they existed and she disrespected them, but If you as a lady go on to marry such a man, what do you expect others to do for you if challenges arise?
nedekid: As per your first question or statement, she is trying to say she did it all by the book, ie the proper way.
Going by the book, she needs to be ready to work it out with her husband...... The proper way has never been easy oh...... The highway to "hell" is wide and smooth.
BRATISLAVA: Why is her virginity more important to you than her gambling, lazy king?
Why is the only thing you can come up with cheating? A woman who has a lazy husband should have her virginity or vagina monitored by you when she says she has a problem with her unmotivated husband, yet you ask why she mentioned her virginity?
Why is your second paragraph as unhelpful a solution as you could come up with as your last paragraph?
Surely you would have a lot to preach if it were the husband with this matter.
Mr./Miss/Mrs. I too know, go and read the op well before quoting me. The op is self righteous, story sounds cooked up.
Sometimes you make sure something is genuine before responding to issues people bring up. So many people are clout chasers. Someone just check the profile self and said op is a man and the best you can do is throw jabs at me
Her virginity is an issue because she seem not to know why she chose to preserve it.
She thinks it's better she lived as a hoe in here younger years rather than being chaste. You also think about that.
The man was working and providing/supporting until he lost the job.... Read her statement, she looked down on the man's earnings maybe even mocked him self but will never tell you that...... She said her man swore to never work for private company again...... You think say na small frustration be that?
Wujio: It is hypocrisy to only touch areas the woman needs to work upon leaving the lack of finances and the man out of it totally. Do you have partial blindness?
I didn't see you say a man who doesn't take care of his home is worse than an infidel and suggesting that the man like a true father should do should hunt for any kind of job. You bashed the woman toning down her goodness because you want women to appear guilty. A man that doesn't take care of his home is an infidel
Let's stop putting women in horrible state please
You are clearly short sighted hence you cannot see what I'm driving at.
Besides if she's honest to respond, I will give her the best advice and support I can offer but till then.......
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8: 44.
So CNN has now retracted their outrageous fake news attributed to a senior Israeli official claiming that Hamas beheaded 40 children.
nairalanda1: Because it was felt at the time that we could manufacture them at home. Then we also at the time had issues with dollar revenue
Besides it wasn't an import ban, it was a ban by the CBN on importers of the stuff from accessing them via its auspices . You want to import toothpick for example ? Fine, just get your own dollars. Don't approach the ceebeehen
Some things on said list are not what we can produce.
And even for so called simple things like toothpick or cotton bud, there are simple things that should be put in place before such bans...... Are we any better today?
