Femsyn: I think this is a fantastic move, long awaited. Irrespective of the motive oppositions may think of it, I'm confident its a great decision. That is nice critical thinking. There will always be a motive for whatever anyone does. When people wake up in the morning to go to their various places of work or business, their motive is to go and earn some money! Some people rob others to make money. Whilst, in the 2 scenarios the common motive is to make money one went about it in a legitimate manner while the other went about it in a criminal way. If PMB is doing some things correctly with the motive of being reelected then he has not done anything wrong. |

Some criminals are prosecuted because they couldn’t run fast enough , they talked to the wrong person , etc - you can’t prosecute all criminals - only the ones you catch ! Saraki has allegedly been caught - his luck ran out - so let him face the music ! Your reasoning is top notch. Except some of these guys are on the payroll of these politicians, I don't understand why they overdo themselves in defending someone that can hire 100s of SANs to defend himself in a court if the need arises. |

WHY?? cannt is league of lawyers just come up with a disclaimer. I believe that the Police were legally advised to only take a written statement from Saraki because it would be more difficult for him to disown a written statement. |

Uniportadmision: Just disappointed with most of the comments down here, hearing stuff like the guy above me saying you sent your bro to school and he decides to misbehave and should face the consequences sounds dumb to me as a reference. Sending to School is a legal and moral act, but POLITICAL THUGGERY is an illegal and criminal act, I'm sure INEC would agree.
It's clear he (saraki) didn't order them to rob the banks as confessed by the criminals, but accusing him as their sponsor for political thuggery is a serious one which the Senate president must go and clear his name.
Unless political thuggery isn't an act of criminality?
Forget witch hunting nonsense. Very sensible comment. It is a known fact that most politicians sponsor and arm their own thugs and they get away with it because they are never prosecuted. Assuming without conceding that this revelation has political undertone some of this politicians must face trial for arming Nigerian youths while grooming their own children to take over their dynasty. Many lives have been cut short because of this proliferation of small arms which is provided by these politicians. While Saraki may not know about the robbery, he should be given a fair trial and, if found guilty by the court, of illegally arming and sponsoring criminals, he should be sentenced accordingly. Whatever is leading to these 'revelations' should not concern Nigerians. What should concern us is the veracity or otherwise of the claims made by these criminals. |

Block the holes, and the judiciary will have less issues to worry about. You can't block all holes as long as humans will make decisions such as contractor selection & contract approval. Even advanced countries like U.S, U.K, China can't block all holes. The reasons why judges are recruited and paid is for them to do their jobs. There must be consequences for our thieving politicians to serve as a deterrent to those who still have their eyes glued to our cookie's jar. If they do the crime, let them do the time. |

IG when will those jihadist terrorist masquerading as Herdmens be paraded in force headquarters too We should be temperate in passing judgements on our security agencies especially when investigation of crime is involved. We all complain about lack of security in the country and we all, justifiably, blame it on the inefficiency of the security operatives as well as our poor security architecture. However, we the citizens of this same country are always quick to preempt and infact prejudice the course of actions of the security operatives whenever they have run ins with some big wigs in the country. In the interest of our country and our collective security we should always allow the investigators to exhaust their leads and go through prosecutorial processes. Thank God, the investigator has to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt in a law court to achieve conviction. Remember, how Farouk Lawan cried to high heaven about being blackmailed only for us to see a CCTV footage of how he stuffed dollars in his cap. |

Nigerian Senate have never been treated with utter disdain and ridicule by the executive to the point that common executive employees will joyfully disobey the Senate at will like buhari's despotic regime. This is unpresedented in the history of Nigeria since independence in 1960! Buhari's govt is nothing but an Authoritarian Dictatorship govt with a mission to weaken Nigerian Parliament. Dictatorship regimes have no tolerance for Parliament. Make no mistake IGP's disobedience to Nigerian Senate has presidential blessings. Nigeria under buhari's APC destructive govt is now a LAWLESS country with no regard to the RULE OF LAW. It is only a matter of time before Nigeria descends into Anarchy. A worst Govt begates a Worst Parliament. The Nigerian Lawmakers have always been selfish. Even under GEJ, several ministers and other appointees complained of how the lawmakers were preventing them from performing their functions because of their frivolous invitations. Even if we don't like the government do not let us distort the roles of all key players. |

Gradually, I hope we will get to the point where our Judicial system will be completely sanitized. The court or judiciary should be the hope of the common man and not the fortress of wealthy criminals. Justice should not be for the highest bidder. All silks and ministers in the temple of justice are hereby served. This is a landmark judgement. Mods should please move this to headquarters to teach our people that the mill of justice may grind slowly but surely it grinds. The Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has convicted a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Joseph Nwobike, of 12 counts bordering of perversion of the course of justice.
Justice Raliat Adebiyi, who pronounced the verdict on Monday morning, said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission proved beyond reasonable doubts that the SAN was in constant communication with court officials to influence the assignment of his cases to his preferred judges.
The prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, said the offence carries a prison term of two years, but the defence counsel, Mr. Wale Akoni (SAN), said sentence is at the judge’s discretion, and pleaded with Justice Adebiyi to temper justice with mercy.
The judge stood the case down, rose and went into her chambers. http://www.punchng.com/breaking-court-convicts-san-nwobike-of-justice-perversion/ |

obailala: That guy wasnt wrong; just about all the great achievements NOI made under OBJ were reversed under GEJ, and that was because GEJ as the boss couldnt hold things together.
Is it in terms of national debt?.. is in terms of the ECA or the foreign reserves?... NOI cleared all the nation's debts under OBJ and was able to accru national savings up to $60bn. But in a period when Nigeria enjoyed the largest unprecedented oil boom, national debts grew steadily to higher levels than it was before being cleared and no defined projects can be pointed out which those debts were used for. Similarly for foreign reserves and ECA, under OBJ NOI supervised these accounts growing from about $5bn to over $60bn. But under GEJ, the same NOI saw that same $60bn vaporize down to $30bn at a time when Nigeria earned its largest income.
Talking of economic indices all looking good under GEJ, that was just a function of high oil prices, high oil income and indiscriminate spending. When excess money is in the system and it's being spent indiscriminately, it tends to show positively on the economic indices like GDP growth rates et al. The real report card on whether the money was well 'spent or not usually shows up when the excess money supply dries up; and that takes us to late 2014/early 2015 when contractors started being owed, billions of dollars were being borrowed to pay salaries, next to nothing was being budgeted for capital expenditure in 2015 etc.
Some might pop up the "biggest economy in Africa" story, but that certaintly isnt an achievement which could have happened under a year of GEJ's rule; it is something which was built up over several years prior to 2010. In a nutshell, like I said before, all the great achievements of NOI happened when she was under obj, and those achievements were largely reversed when she served under gej. Many thanks. You have spoken my mind. |
