Good day Nairalanders. This morning my wife's personal car was impounded by VIO while she was being driven from a meeting by a family member. A ticket of #20,000 was issued because the family member who drove the vehicle didn't have LASDRI.

I had thought the issue of LASDRI is restricted to commercial vehicles and professional drivers. I sincerely need to hear from people with sufficient knowledge on the working of this LASDRI before I decide on the next line of action.

The mods can help to push this to the front page for wider coverage and feedback. I believe a lot of people can learn from this incidence.

TonyeBarcanista, this is about the best post of yours that I have read. People often forget that we can disagree to agree. On both sides of the divide, people exercised their inalienable rights to vote for candidates of their choice in the last elections, I wonder why some people feel that everybody should have voted for their candidate(s).

Have they forgotten that those who didn't vote for their candidates today may vote for their candidate(s) tomorrow.

Oil companies world over are cutting employees. Canada, Norway, UK and Russian owned Oil companies are streamlining staff strength to weather the low oil prices. Is it a Nigeria problem alone? Is Buhari the one governing UK. Or is he the president of the US where in Alberta alone over 40,000 jobs have been lost since 2014 due to oil.

You lots here can't reason and that's the bane of the country. Basic economics tells you that some jobs are not forever and come with high risks and your current employability depends on current prices of that commodity your employer deals in. It's not rocket science.

Yeah, the economy may not be fairing better but what does a logical person do? What's the principles of a good problem solver? They ask for the real problems and try and find solutions to it.

Why is Nigeria always at risk when the price of oil goes drastically down? Same thing happened 2007 to 2009 when oil price traded around 35 to 50 before shooting up back.

I shouldn't waste my time because a lot of you are lost causes .

$2300 is now 1 million naira. That's awesome news for some people. But wait what do you see there gloom. It's a matter of perspective. A smart person is always positioning himself for the good benefits....It is a fact many Nigerians are shallow.

China is daily devaluing their currencies to boost trade, tourism and so on but the almighty lazy Nigerians want theirs to always be overvalued so they can keep importing rubbish. Sit in front of their tokunbo tvs, eat made in thailand rice, wear chinko watches, plait brazilian hair and idle away doing nothing.

Fantastic perspective about the devalued Naira. My brother, some people are making tons of money right now. While some people are seeing the cup as being half empty some people are seeing are seeing it as half filled!

I only expressed the position of the law and not my opinion.

Did the girl steal from him? She didnt commit any crime if the rapist freely, of his accord, gave her material gifts. Let us even assume the worst case scenario; if the girl stole from the rapist he ought to have reported to law enforcement officers and not resort to self help.

Actually, on a scale of 100%, the OP is 90% likely to be the rapist. However, assuming without conceding the fact that the OP is not the rapist, he is at least a potential rapist for objectifying women. He betrayed himself by saying that he had money and could get any woman in bed; such mentality is what brings out the bestialty in rapists when they are refused sex after flaunting their wealth.

Sorry OP, not all women will get laid with your cash.

Unfortunately, your opinion is at variance with the law. The OP, like every other citizen, is duty bound to report any criminality that he is aware of.

Unfortunately, the OP's friend is a felon and the OP is a potential accessory after the fact for the following reasons:

1. He promised to wade into the matter by advising his friend (the rapist) to compensate the victim monetary with the intention of helping his friend to escape prosecution.

2. He is justifying the rape action of his friend by saying that the rape was a direct consequence of the lady accepting material gifts from his friend, the rapist.

3. He was present before the rape occurred and did nothing to prevent the criminal act.

These are enough grounds for the OP to be put behind bars.

The reason why PDP was voted out of power is because Nigerians were not impressed by the way PDP treated every issue, including criminal infractions, as family affair.

It is to the credit of APC, that the party allows members to slug it out in a self cleansing process.

The APC as a party has many shortcomings but a lot of Nigerians would rather this party than one that covers up the sins of its members by "rebasing" (pun intended) issues of national importance as family affairs.

Which judge that knows his/her worth would give such a judgement when barely 24hours after another Judge Valentine Ashi of Abuja High Court had ruled that the 2014 PDP Constitution Amendment that Sheriff and his team were making claim of was illegal, null and void, and in violation of the Electoral Act? When did Justice Okon Abang of Federal High Court (Abuja) assume the power of a Superior court to Abuja High Court that it constitute himself into an Appeal body?

Is Justice Abang not also aware that Justice A. M. Liman of the Federal High Court, Portharcourt has barred Sherriff from parading himself as Chairman of the party in May 24, 2016, and had fixed July 04, 2016 to rule on the suit brought to him by Sheriff to vacate the order? Is it not the ruling that prompted INEC to insist on recognising the legitimate mandate of Markafi led Caretaker Committee, and even went ahead to monitor the Edo Congress and primary by the party leadership?

It is unheard of in any democracy that an High Court Judge will arrogate an appeal privilege to himself to overrule the judgement of TWO courts of coordinate jurisdiction. Why do people flagrantly abuse the law? What is the rationality behind the order? Justice Okon should wait for his promotion to Appeal Court bench if he is so eager to be an appellate Judge on High Court Judges.

I trust INEC to confine the order into the next available trash can.

SHERIFF IS CHASING SHADOWS
It will be in the interest of democracy and the country for Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to wait for the July 4 verdict of the Federal High Court, Portharcourt, and to head to Court of Appeal to appeal the ruling of the Abuja High Court that barred him from parading himself as PDP National Chairman instead of chasing shadows by running to Justice Okon Abang that has NO POWER to overturn another High Court judgement in order to obtain a null and void judgement.

THE REAL PLOT OF ALI MODU SHERIFF
Like I did mention to a friend on Palmchat, I don't need a prophet to know that Ali Modu Sheriff is doing what he is doing in order to create anarchy within the camp of PDP Governorship candidate and the incoming Governor of Edo State, Pastor Ize Iyamu. One don't need a prophet to know that the plan of Sheriff is to see that INEC/Court disqualifies PDP from the election to provide an expressway to the would-be defeated APC unsellable candidate Godwin Obaseki and the outgoing Governor Adams Oshiomole(but it is dead on arrival)

Make no mistake, Sheriff is aware that the Electoral Act stipulates that party must inform INEC of their Primaries 21 days before the said date, and mandates INEC to monitor primary election of parties. It also mandates delegates to participate in the Primaries to elect flagbearers. Sheriff is very much aware that his camp did not meet ANY of the criteria spelt by the Electoral Act, and anything done by their group is as good as waste of time and resources. Hence, their scheme is to see that the law is manipulated to give their faction legitimacy, after which INEC will decline to field PDP candidate for not meeting criteria, and thereby allowing the APC a one way space. They will NEVER succeed.

...BUT TEAM IZE IYAMU AND EDO PEOPLE CAN'T BE BROKEN
However, it is my pleasure to inform Sheriff and his friends that apart from the fact that the great Edo people want NOBODY but Pastor Iyamu, the PDP led by Markafi enjoys every form of legitimacy, and the process that produced the pastor met every requirement of the Electoral Act. Hence, the plot to deny Edo people the opportunity to bring their leader to power in September is Dead on Arrival.

To God be the Glory, Edo people, Pastor Ize Iyamu, and PDP are in high spirit and shall never be broken. Edo shall make history to be the first state to Change the Change come September 2016. Power shall return to the people.

If the Senate claims the alleged forgery is an internal affair then a man who battered or murdered his wife can equally claim that the IG can not charge him to court claiming internal affair based on the illogical reasoning of these senators.

Again, why are the accused afraid to go and test their defence in the law court if they truly believe they have a water tight defense, at least our jurisprudence would be further enriched.

The executive have initiated a case in the law court against some legislators, the third leg of the governmental tripod which is the judiciary should be allowed to decide the case. That is how a lawful society runs. The accused senators are acting irresponsibly by denying the judiciary their adjudication role. It is trite that the lawmakers make laws, the judiciary interpretes laws and the executive enforces laws.

In fact SAS supporters called anyone who criticized that appointment names.

SAS is a self inflicted pain by the PDP; any attempt to tag him an APC mole is a futile attempt at revisionism.

I'm not aware that the governor's bank account enjoys immunity of any sort if proceeds of crime is traced to it. The immunity that any governor enjoys does not cover his or her bank accounts in my opinion.

That said, if Fayose feels that his rights are be trampled upon I believe the law courts are available for adjudication.

Is it today that Muslim students start wearing hijab to school ? This is a practice that has been happening for God knows when even among their teachers and people of other profession and I wonder why you now think it is Aregbesola's doing.

The Christian leaders are the ones making themselves the willing tools in the hands of the enemies of that state. I attended an Anglican primary school managed by the government but on every Friday we always have our morning prayers in the Islamic ways without anybody killing each other.

We even have imam in school then teaching IRK.

The practice was the same when I later transferred to an Ansar-ud-deen school where we have our morning prayers in the Christian ways from monday -Tuesday , on Wednesday you pray silently and call whatever God you which while Thursday - Fridays are for Islamic prayers.

That's why during our days all the students are able to know most the popular songs in the S.O.P and still recite fati'a and other Islamic verses.

This latest move and agitation is strange to us in Yorubaland . Every normal Yoruba family have people of the two religion and they co-exist without any fighting among them.

( And FYI, even my own patents are practicing different religions and they live together in peace).

A close staff of EFCC told me that there are some names listed out as names of people never to be probed by the EFCC under Buhari's regime and they all belong to APC.

The fact is that the gentleman is not to be blamed completely. Power outages we are experiencing is mainly due to vandalization of gas pipelines and other power infrastructures.

With respect to the Works and Housing portfolios, I believe the delay in passing the budget slowed things down.

Hopefully the gentleman will live perform for the collective benefits of Nigerians across political divides.

Good piece of advice to various stakeholders. However, you need to add that citizens shouldn't disturb contractors from carrying out their work. In a lot of places you find Nigerians demanding gratification from contractors to allow them perform their contractual obligations and yet same people would later shout about contract abandonment and high contract costs!

In the past, commercial banks depended on government patronage and round tripping. Not many of them practised banking (I doubt if there was any!).

How do we explain how banks were posting humongous profits while the real sector players (manufacturers & co) were posting losses in most cases and marginal profit in some cases?

From where did the banks make their profits if most of their clients were posting losses?

In saner climes banks would help entrepreneur to start small businesses, assist small businesses to transform to medium businesses and help medium businesses to transform to transnational corporations. That is how banks ought to grow their businesses through the growth of their customers.

Buhari is right in starving these banks of illicit funds cause it is common knowledge that bad money chases good money in any financial system.

When the president acts rightly let us applaud him and when he acts wrongly let us give him the knocks, that is the only way to move the nation forward.

The budget was full of floating funds, inflated prices, redundant recurrent expenditures and repetitive projects executed and paid for by previous government.

The Legislators just used some of the floating funds to get their demands into the budget.

Remember, the total sum was still reduced by some billions.

Leave politics aside there weren't any floating funds anywhere. The said floating fund equated to the amount that was earmarked for the Lagos - Calabar rail line. The individual items on the budget totalled accurately, so where did the issue of floating fund arise from?

These legislooters did it to OBJ, they did it to Yaradua and GEJ, and they want to do it again to PMB. Let us be careful lest we fall for their antics.

1. Who amongst these men spoke out against the killing of the aluu4 or what steps have they taken, either individually or collectively, to seek redress for the family of those boys?

2. What have these old men done to seek redress for the igbo traders that were unjustly murdered in Abuja?

3. How many pro bono cases have these old men handled on behalf of poor Nigerians who have suffered and are still suffering injustices?

The hypocrisy of these men stinks to high heavens! What they are attempting to do is to defend the elitist class to which they all belong. All of them are worth more than whatever income they have made legitimately.

Your piece of advice to the President as per signing the budget, as is, while he sends a supplementary budget would have been okay but for the fact that the legislators have smuggled some criminal lines into the budget, for example their own constituency projects as well as several billions for training on NigCommSat and the inflation of the rail line from kano by over 30 billion Naira with the intent to loot same.

If the President signs the budget as it is, he will be rubber stamping the anticipated loot by the legislators.

What is the essence of providing several billions of Naira for training NigCommSat when the executive has clarified that training is already embedded in the project cost.

What is the essence of making provisions for keke Napep and the rest when they weren't part of the original budget. If PMB signs the budget as already passed, he would inadvertently be rubber stamping of the intended sleaze of these legislators through constituency projects et al.

I believe that your suggestion for Garba Shehu's resignation is not borne out of partisanship. If my assumption is right, can you kindly point out the criminality in getting 8k USD from CBN.

Is there a law that outlaws a public official from obtaining forex from banks?

I believe that, if he has violated any known law we should be calling for his prosecution and not resignation.

I do not have the statistics of which country imported or did not import the said grass but countries do import brood stock for animals or parent plant to improve the genetics of their domestic stock.

I wouldn't discount the role of our research institutes but we must understand these researches can take considerable time before results are achieved. Hence It is not out of place if we bring the grass with a view to replanting while our research institute seeks ways to develop superior breed of same that are adaptive to our local environment.

We can blame the government if it embarks on a repeat purchase.
