The government claims that they have discovered Grasses that have 28% Crude Protein, do we have any grass in Nigeria, either in the North or South, that have such high protein? To the best of my knowledge there is none. So what is wrong in importing such highly proteinous gas with a view to domestically grow it.

If government implements this idea correctly animal husbandry in Nigeria would witness a revolution.

The case of Tinubu is shameful to the extent that the only case that the FG through CCB could prefer against him was that of OPERATING INACTIVE FOREIGN ACCOUNTS. The question is why did their principal (GEJ) not act on those allegations?

As long as the culprit committed the offence, he or she should be prosecuted regardless of witch hunting or selective prosecution claims.

Any party that finds its candidate in Aso Rock in the future should remember this and therefore prosecute the looters of our collective wealth.

Lastly, Nigerians shouldn't bother themselves about the political party, tribe or ethnicity of any looter under trial, the only thing that matters is that the prosecution must prove that the crimes were actually committed.

Cambridge Dictionary of English defines Corruption as illegal, bad or dishonest behaviour.

The question then arises, 'is stealing an illegal, bad or dishonest behavior'?

I am bemused however by the attempt by the ICPC boss to redefine stealing and corruption.

I believe senate doesn't have the power to stop the increment but can only advised because NERC is also backed by law that established them and this issue of increment has been approved by the 7th assembly and passed by law and that was why Fashola was saying his hand are tied. only court of law or FG can reserve it.

Most Nigerians do not read or track information. Like you rightly pointed out this increment had been agreed with the DISCOs by the 7th Assembly yet people are blaming Fashola, the current National Assembly is aware but decided to play on the intelligence and emotions of Nigerians by passing the recent resolution.

If the national assembly feels strongly about this increase in tariff and JAMB they should make laws to back up their resolutions, that is what they are paid to do not to be discussing the propriety or otherwise of marrying 2 or more wives.

Note it is not Buhari's junketing that raised the price of crude oil, so don't try to deceive anybody here. Whether he stayed in the country to do what he was elected to do or not the oil price which is a function of demand and supply will still either go up or down depending on market forces. I'll rather advise him to sit down and do the work he was elected for.

While I have my own reservations about PMB's frequent travels you cannot assert that his journeys and meetings with Presidents of Oil Producing countries is not one of the factors responsible for the price rally of the crude oil.

I agree with you that price is a function of demand and supply, hence any factor that can alter demand or supply can as well alter price, so if his meeting can lead to reduced supply of crude oil, through agreements with other major producers, then he could have influenced price, that is why the word 'cartel' exists

The budget office and the ministry of budget and national planning are both responsible for the final compilation and not the finance ministry. All the paddling and figure inflation takes place at the budget office. While I always believe in the presumption of innocence for accused persons, Okonjo Iweala has not done herself any good in her several responses to allegations from different individuals.

She keeps attacking the personalities involved without addressing the issues raised by them. Her attempt at sophistry will not make the allegations disappear.

The questions are quite simple:

1. Did she disburse more than the amount appropriated for subsidy at any time during her tenure

2. How much exactly has she received from the Abacha loot and what was it spent on in her entire time as minister of finance under OBJ and GEJ

3. What was the basis of releasing unappropriated funds to the NSA under GEJ knowing fully well that it was illegal to do that

4. Was she aware that NIMASA was earning in dollars and remitting in Naira at NIMASA's predetermined rates? If she was aware what steps did she take to address the issues and if she wasn't aware how did such infractions escape her notice as both Finance minister and CME.


These are some of the issues that she needs to articulate her positions on instead of personalizing issues.

So who is fooling who?

Let all of us shun ethnic bigotry while we look for solutions to Nigeria problems.

Whenever and where ever they are looting us you will find that all ethnic groups will be represented.

These are not the best of times for Nigeria and Niger Delta in particular.

However, the Niger Deltans need to brace up for any eventuality by doing the following:

1. Holding their current crop of leaders accountable such that whatever allocation accrues to the state's would be used for the collective benefits of all. Encouraging their leaders to steal because other regional leaders are stealing should be jettisoned. No leader from any region deserves to steal our common wealth.

2. They should lobby the Federal Govt.to put in place a plan of action which will be targeted at developing the region's infrastructures.

3. Their leaders should pay more attention to ensuring that the Oil Companies maintain standard environmental support or clean up required of them instead of always collecting handouts from these exploiters.

4. The other regions must be encouraged to develop their capacities to generate revenue without relying on crude oil so that they can contribute towards the development of the Niger Delta.region

I remember when Ribadu left for PDP, I was devastated because I was pro-APC as at then. Less than six months later, I (myself) left APC to PDP. Many felt let down and bad but I later understood why Ribadu left in the first instance.

A man like Ribadu is a man of integrity. He couldn't stand corrupt Nyako as his leader. He believed that Nigeria need change and he switched to PDP that he feels he can actualise it (though he stood higher chance in APC but we all know that Atiku as party leader will NOT support Ribadu as APC candidate). Unfortunately, forces even within the PDP in Adamawa worked against Ribadu candidacy. They knew that a Governor Ribadu will mean "No Business as usual". If he wants to return to APC, the APC should see it as a boost to their image. Ribadu is an asset! He's the man I want PDP to jealously guide. Should he leave, it will be a heavy blow to PDP. The era where goats will seek for more power after eating yams is over. Votes now counts.

Again you have made some profound statements here. Although I felt Ribadu shouldn't have decamped to PDP when he did, although that is my personal opinion at best.

However, I completely agree with you that Nigerians are wiser now and would only vote for people they trust and believe in.

It is not even about political parties anymore because people make parties. And with the penchant of our politicians for cross carpeting it becomes difficult to track which party did what and this is why Nigerian youths must refrain from this PDP versus APC online fights. Thus, I suggest that we track the actions of individual politicians and reward or punish them with our votes as appropriate.

There must be consequences for actions or inactions of political office holders.

In capital budgeting you will consider the internal rate of returns (IRR) and Net Present Value (NPV) to either reject or accept projects after factoring the cost of debt into the equation.

If well used the borrowed may be able to pay itself back. It smacks of mischief when the likes of FFK criticize this budget without criticizing PDP senators like Ben Bruce who had encouraged PMB, after the release of the MTEF, to borrow a substantial amount to jumpstart the revival of infrastructures instead of borrowing piecemeal.

No, the problem is that import substitution schemes are not good policy, even if they look good to laymen without economic literacy. Putting aside the fact that even a corruption-free scheme would still hurt consumers more than it would benefit rice growers, any time politicians are given an opportunity to tamper with trade, they are also provided with a new means to enrich themselves through corrupt practices. Under a free-trade regime, there would be no room for subsidies, import licenses and other such invitations to corruption.

The strange thing about political interference with markets in Nigeria is that the Nigerian masses never learn that these interventions are never to their benefit. One would think most Nigerians would be aware by now that the only parts of the economy that work properly are exactly those bits where the politicians have least influence.

We all don't have to like the party in power but we must support them on issues like this that has to do with issues like this where they are tackling those witches and wizards that have denied the masses of this country the dividends of democracy. Witches and wizards deserve to be hunted.

Now I understand why the association of witches and wizards supported GEJ's re-election bid in 2015 in national dailies; perhaps they were just positioning themselves for further sucking of Nigerian wealth!
