ifyken: Limassol:You both are right. I'm talking about the men on here who spend all thier energy promoting gender dichotomy by constantly attacking a gender even when it's absolutely illogical but would desist from reprimanding thier fellow men who have succeeded in dragging the name of the country through the mud. One would expect a strong campaign against these theives just like we drag those in government but the young men are rather interested in promoting tribalism and sexism. These theives openly discuss thier "format" cause they know they have the laissez-faire to do virtually anything without criticism. How would the country make any progress? I've only been to Nigeria a countable number of times in my life, but I'm deeply saddened by the situation of things in the country. I then wonder how some people are more interesting in herds (tribe, region, religion, gender, etc.) than combating the societal degradation. |
FarmTech:I don't see anything wrong with her dressing. It's not like she's exposing her flesh. She's hard-working married woman with her own sense of fashion which should not be eroded by our judgment. We men also put on body-hug shirts and nobody criticises us. Just saying. |
Your mental health is extremely important, take care of it. |
Whatever Nigeria is today, you guys brought it upon yourselves. Your fellow men are going around shouting "Nigerian girls are useless" but will gladly avoid this thread where thier criticism is needed. |
You clearly stated that people don't know what they were fighting over. Yet you find it appealing to sell the ego massaging narrative that they were fighting over a man. I know you guys like to think women have no other thing to live for than men, but the truth is, there are a hundred and one things that could have led to this fight. |
The front page is filled with all sorts of derogatory statements against women just because the person celebrating is a lady. If it were a guy, you'd be hearing "my guy dey happy!". As if tribalism wasn't enough, you guys have succeed in adding sexism to your game in Nigeria. You're all making your situation worse. |
Offpoint1:That's because family tolerates our excesses. It doesn't mean they wouldn't have preferred it if you were a bit closer. I read where you explained how you've mastered self sufficiency. That's beautiful, but learning how to be self sufficient serves to help you survive when you find yourself in a situation where you are alone. It's not reason to isolate yourself. I also read where you said you don't have friends but get along fine with people. Again, that's okey, but people you get along fine with can't perform the role of friends. All these are not a problem now. You're probably a young man full of life/energy. You have enough to sustain yourself and you don't see any reason why you should bother with people, especially seeing that they hardly bring anything to the table asides burdens and inconveniences. However, like someone said, no one is an island. There's what we call 'people currency'. At some point, you'll need people; if not for yourself, for your offspring. Asides from the fact that the people you roll with today are the connections your children will have tomorrow, there's also something called a social support system. Work, money, career, etc. keep us so busy we hardly ever feel the absence of people these days, but the pressure just keeps rising gradually and steadily. There comes a point where you'd look back and realize how empty and useless this world is without anyone by your side. This time will come, I'm not guessing. I understand if this is your personality. We all have the things we value more than others. If you're a loner, that's who you are. You can't be someone else. But even a loner needs a couple of people he knows he can easily reach out to talk even if he doesn't do that eventually. That sense of having someone is just sufficient on its own. Please, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. |
Peace081:But why obsessed with competition? We mustn't pit them against each other or try to make fans pick sides. Good morning. |
Charmingrascal:I agree with you, but it's so easy to say this when it's a man. Assuming it was a lady dressed in a certain way, all the men on here would have been shouting 'retired olosho!'. This is just a glimpse of how women feel when they're profiled just by their sense of fashion. |
Just see how NL boys messed up the front page with their obsession. This is not the first time someone is asking this kind of question, but since it's a lady this time, they must drag her to the grave. |
Lostchild:Men deserve compassion too. |
descarado:Lmao... Ok. I wasn't really expecting a solid point anyway. |
LilMissFavvy:My best is the golden retriever followed by the Siberian husky. ![]() |
descarado:What exactly do you want the West to do? To oust your government or send thier soldiers to protect you? It's funny how Nigerians attack the western world when things aren't going well in Nigeria but always quick to remind them Nigeria is a sovereign nation when they feel like it. The truth is, the so called West has thier own countries to attend to. Things are bad everywhere. They can't just step into a sovereign country that has a democratically elected government without getting invited. The best they can do is critize or desist from selling certain types of weapons to the country. Even the United Nations as a whole doesn't just step into a country like that. |
You forgot to add your source, OP. |
fineboynl:Virtually every mum kissed thier kid this way at a point. You can't use your friend's case to generalize. Why not also stop her from breastfeeding the baby for the fear that he will get used to her breasts? |
agbolahan1991:If you're dating or thinking of dating a married woman, I strongly believe you're the problem in your marriage. You guys use "my wife is not good enough" as an excuse for promiscuity as if you'd buy that line if it came from a woman. You better leave a fellow man's wife and focus on your family. |
Good news |
Havesomesense:Updated my post with more details. |
I do not think so. I might be worried about the health/psychological implications. I might also be worried that they're resorting to masturbation cause I'm not doing enough. I might also be worried about how far they'd be willing to go satisfy themselves next time. But I don't think I'd feel cheated because they touched thier own body in my absence. It'll also be much easier if it's not hidden from me. I'm not big fan of masturbation for a few reasons but I don't think it's logical to say one who engages in it is cheating on their partner. Just an opinion. |
JOemmy:He is a father. You don't expect him to join you in calling out his own son. |
Bantu10:I don't think t's not a snapping turtle. It does not have any resemblance with a snapping turtle asides the basic turtle frame. |
feldido:There's no such thing as a domesticated cat when it comes to instincts. A cat will attack and kill anything it finds creepy enough including other pets like rabbits, birds, etc. It's simply their nature. So please, be careful. |
Golden retrievers (followed by Siberian huskies) are simply the best dog breeds on the surface of this earth! |
JESHAL:But that's a strawman argument, sir. Your point is a welcomed debate (given my past posts), but it doesn't in anyway stand against what I said to that guy who critized the victim on the grounds of gender. In other words, it's a different conversation though a worthwhile one. So bringing that up now makes it as though you just wanted to support the guy by all means even if it means grasping at straws. Back to your topic; I am a man. I know what men go though. If you think I am out to water that down, then you've missed the point. I'm against discrimination/unfair societal judgment be it tribalism, sexism, racism, homophobia, xenophobia, religious bigotry, etc . Misogyny, a form of sexism, is one of the most pronounced form of discrimination on Nairaland. The campaign against women on this platform is mind blowing. They are not just blamed for every single thing (including the actions of those who rape, kill or cheat on them) but are reduced to nothingness. Someone has to speak up to balance things out. We've seen men kill fellow men and we criticise them. But for something to be called discrimination, two classes must be involved where one treats the other unfairly. When men kill, rape, scam, etc., we all cry about how humanity has degenerated. Some move on to call out the culprits' tribe like "skull miners at it again!" or their profession like "Nigerian police" or religion, region etc. We hardly ever remember gender. We don't say "fear men", "Nigerian men are useless", "men of nowadays", etc. (which is good). But once the culprits are ladies, everyone unites to call out the gender. That's discrimination. When a man cheats, his wife is asked to dress better or cook better. When a man is violent, his wife is asked to speak less. When a man rapes, women are told to stop wearing skimpy dresses. When a man commits a crime, it's humanity but when a woman does, "fear women". When a couple breaks apart, "women are insatiable". When a man is promiscuous "he is a guy man, an alpha", the women are hoes. When a man is traveling abroad, he's asked to learn IT skills but with a woman, the main skill needed is how to respect the husband. Now, even when a man kills, the female victim gets a bulk of the criticism. Men run the African society and one doesn't have to be a scholar to know the position of women in that society. |
JESHAL:Are you sure you quoted the right post? Nobody ever mentioned anything about who the victims of violent crimes are. Read what I typed and see if there's any correlation between that and your response. |
Obsession. |
Nairaland boys are obsessed. |
Decentdave:Just bad? Seriously? One line for the killer and the entire paragraph for the promiscuous? You think the boy child that had the mind to beat someone to death was well raised? See, males are 100 times more difficult to raise. The only reason it appears as if it's more difficult with the girl child is because nobody really cares what the boy child does. And that explains why the girl still gets the bulk of the criticism even when she's killed by the boy child. Shameful. |
ypeace:Yes, they are valid but banks don't issue them anymore, I believe. And that's the ideal situation and the only practical way to get rid of old notes. Financial institutions gradually absorb them and dish out the new ones. While this is happening, citizens should be able to use the old notes anywhere, anytime. At no point should citizens be told their money is no longer valid. That's an insult to the currency. |
