Taking charge of his family does not mean bossing his wife around rather it is doing his respomsibility as the man of the house.
As the man. He is the high priest of his family, his duty is to command his family after God. A man that does not know this will find it difficult to lead his family.
He should learn to give alongside his wife, they ought to agree to give together. On the other hand, if the wife is doing these givings so to be noticed then she is in a big trouble cos she will never come out of her debt. The husband should teach the wife the principle of giving that is if he knows threm himself.
This scenario is a perfect example of a man that is spiritually behind the wife.
The mere fact that the so called husband can come on this forum seeking advise is a clear indication that he is not pary of the church; what of your pastor?

@ dekung
Your friend was spiritually illiterate cos the Word does not fail.
I have nothing to tell you because first I don't believe in your God and all the giving attached to your religion. The money I give to people is far more than what most people give to pastors and I am happy when I see my money making people happy than a pastor building an empire on people's donation while many members of his congregation suffers. I can see that you are clearly narrow minded and insulting somebody because they have different views from you. That is the problem you face when you find yourself in the midst of your own kind and never get to mix and interact with people different from you on a global perspective and the next thing you will do is to quote where the bible said "do not be equally yoked with unbelievers". Your believes only lead to segregation and division among people. Also I can see that you are not married and all what you quoted is strictly the theories you've been taught by your pastors and other religious people. I am married to a very religious woman and I am anti religion. That doesn't mean we don't get to work things out for the benefit of the union. When you get married you will understand better.

how can you support coming on a forum like this to discuss such personal issue? dude, can't you see that this guy has been handling his home wrongly?

i believe this is how he goes around discussing his matrimonial problems on every social web site all over the net, such a jelly willed guy huh
The issue is not coming to a forum but your insulting him about not having control over his wife like we are in the old times when a man's say is final in running a home. Both parties agree on things to be done and not the man alone. Do you expect him to divorce his wife or turn her to a slave just because they have dissenting views on tithing? I guess your main concern about his post lies in your user name "PropastorChris".

you are a disgrace to the group of people labeled husbands. how are you leading your family while your wife is not following you?
i tend to believe that you only follow your wife to church and not the other way.

sorry to burst your bubble, please take charge of your family and stop inviting others to contribute to what is supposed to be personal matters. i wonder what pushed you to share your family matter with a forum like this?
i can see that you are very weak a husband and your wife must be strong willed as opposed to your jelly will.

wake up bro and take charge of your family.
I am sure you are not married for you to come up with this post. If you are married, I wonder how you run your home!

yommy2sure: uv gotten more than enuff adivice, just to add mine, i think mechanical do a lot more maths and calculations than the rest, in my sch they do maths courses up to their final years unlike the rest that take maths courses up to 400l, they even do maths courses in their msc....all the best dude
All the core engineering disciplines(Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical) have alot of mathematics that you cannot claim one have more maths than the other because almost every course you do in Chemical Engineering for example involves solving one or more process problem mathematically. My problem with Chemical Engineering is that it is too abstract compared to say Mechanical. A friend that studied Electrical also told me that Electrical have alot of abstract courses. In summary, dont study an engineering course because of mathematics because as long you go for any of the three I quoted, you must do alot of mathematics. Look for what you think you will like to practice in the future instead.
Even in Reservoir Engineering which is a branch of Petroleum Engineering, the mathematical programming and reasoning of most Reservoir simulators is so advanced that it can give you brain problem.

Wemmy6284: I'm 17,In dis previous Jamb dat i wrote i scored an excellent mark,i chose Electrical Engineering as my first preferred course @ OAU, but i still have a strong desire to study Mathematics in d uni because of these reasons....(1) I'm so good in maths dat i score A1 in every maths exams i wrote and i'm considered best in d class nd even among d student in d school to d extent dat my mates in d class usually tell me dat it would be good for me to study maths in d uni..in d recent GCE i did i ave A1 in maths and further maths..I score at least 95% in all maths exams i did..Infact i did not just know it but i understand the concept...I even usually derive formulas independently, for example area of a regular hexagon 3a^2sin60 where a is the length of d side, any one can test it and compare it with normal work it out.<u can never find it in d text book> ,i find the distance between any two places on d earth provided they are on the same latitude but one must be at d south and the other at the north but d one at the north or south wil be at different longitude using the knowlede of mensuration, which i tested using a very long method but the answer is just d same with the derived formula and many more things ...i can 'tackle? any question in pure maths, not to use the word 'solve'<it seems like a gift>,.solving maths becomes my hobby and i do it in my leisure hour....But on the other hand I chose Electrical/Electronic Engnring because i just love engineering field nd with the combination of maths/further maths,,physics, chemistry, geography nd TD which are my best subjects i know i am fit in the field and i like solving peoples problem....SHOULD I go for UME change of course form b4 it closes..But i if not studying maths now i will still go for it after my degree in E.E engineering..
All what you quoted above are child's play mathematics. I am an Engineer with a BSc in Chemical Engineering and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering. University Mathematics is way different from secondary school maths or further maths except say in year 1. I also got A1 in mathematics like 3 times but university mathematics is a different ball game. If you want to have an idea of what engineering maths is, look for text books like Shaum's series Advanced Mathematics for Engineers and Scientist. Advanced Engineering Maths by Erwin kreyszig.
If you like what you see in these text books, you will enjoy engineering mathematics. Also Engineering Maths by K.A. Stroud is basic Engineering Mathematics and too easy for engineering application.
BSc mathematics on the other hand, to me is too theoretical and could be more frustrating to study.
Don't ever choose a course because you like mathematics. Choose a course you have some flair for.

ijawkid: Most times u guys feel that because God is all knowing then he shuld always decide to knw everything
Don't you think this statement is a contradiction? That God know everything but decides not to know everything. Thats just too plain irrational in thought.

ijawkid: If God knew where we would end up b4 we were born either into destruction or life everlasting and still allowed us exist then that won't be nice of him...
But as I trust my heavenly Father,I know and I believe that he has chosen not to knw about our choices on wether we wuld serve him or not and wether we will be destroyed or enjoy eternal life...
Do you know that the above response contradicts and is a blasphemy to Christianity? You are saying categorically that the almighty God is not omniscience and doesn't know somethings. It is better not to response to certain things than make posts that query you intelligence in reasoning.
CareerRe: Total Oil And Gas Workers by 2good(m): 12:46pm On Apr 22, 2012
tanimola22: Although I agree with your submission that one shouldn't even dare hope on Total or any other company for that matter, I really don't think Total's recruitment is very disorganized. Those in France have a happier story to tell about Total's recruitment.

Meanwhile, no one I know has a good thing to say about the so called Careers in Africa people. I am beginning to suspect that they just force companies to attend their recruitment summit when in actual sense those companies are not willing to hire anybody.

There are thousands of qualified people looking for these top oil jobs. I have always opined that it is God that gives jobs. My friend got into Total with his third world pangolo BSc grin. The guy has never entered a plane before, not to talk of going to London, America and all to attend a job fair. His friend, one other guy like that, switched from Shell to Total. The same Shell that graduates, whether naija or abroad trained, can give their legs to work for. These guys have only good things to say about Total.

Just like you, I have learned never to put too much hope in any company. I just try to do my best to appear sound during interviews. If they call me for the next stage, oh fantastic. If they don't, I have plan B, C, D, E,....., Z....1,2,3.....

It is unfortunate that foreign degrees don't carry as much weight as they used to carry in the 90`s and early 2000 in Nigeria. I recall how people strolled into these top oil companies in those times. But now, so many oil and gas Robert Gordon this and that highly qualified graduates roaming the streets of Lagos, PH, Texas, Aberdeen and all. It is pitiable.

May God helep us!

T22
I have several friends that have gotten into Total through the Career In Africa Summit in London. Also there is a friend in Nigeria who started thesame Total recruitment in Nigeria about a year ago who is still put on hold after being sent an email that she was successful in her psychology test. If I am given an offer to work in Total Nigeria now, I will probably not accept it because I have a better international career now that will give me more exposure and opportunities to work in the North Sea, Middle East and even the Gulf of Mexico. Also the problem is not Total France or global but Total Nigeria. I had worked for Addax Petroleum in Nigeria before my masters degree so I understand how the industry works in Nigeria. 2 of my friends in the US rejected Exxonmobil job offer to come back to Nigeria but prefer to remain in the US to work and they don't regret it. I used to think they were nuts for making that decision but now I understand better. Problem is when you graduate and don't have a job abroad, you get frustrated and be ready to do anything but the knowledge and exposure you get from studying abroad cannot be quantified. Also studying abroad like you rightly said is not a guarantee for a better life but it sure helps you especially if you have some work experience in Nigeria before you leave for further studies.
Christianity EtcRe: The Fallacy Of "Free Will" by 2good(m): 10:08am On Apr 22, 2012
emöfine2: According to certain theological dogma every human being is granted “free-will” by God; the right to make our own choices with no interference or influence.

But when the only available options are limited is it still a free choice or simply a dilemma?

When there is a gift and penalty attached to those narrow options, is that not supposed to influence our decision?

When one is confronted by only two possibilities - eternal subjugation or perpetual torture - where exactly does “free will” feature if one will be condemned for a particular “choice”?

Are we not thus coerced into making a particular decision?
Free will doesn't make sense if God is omniscience and knows all things from the beginning to the end because that will also means he knew the devil was going to rebel against him before he created him and still went ahead to create the devil. He also knew whether we will all go to heaven or hell before creating us yet he did. It is only people that want to deceive themselves that will still hold on to the notion of free will they were brainwashed with from childhood. Within the limit of man, we can talk about free will because we don't know our tomorrow since we are not omniscience. But when you talk about a knower of everything giving free will, then you are definitely deceiving yourself as it contradicts the most basics of reasoning.

Total is a very disorganised company when it comes to recruitment. I participated in the October 2011 Career In Africa recruitment exercise in London and wrote the Total test, was successful and had the line Manager/HR interviewed after which I was sent an email in December 2011 that I was successful in the interview that they will contact me in due course for subsequent stages. Up till now, neither me nor any other person I knew that got the success mail back then from Total has been called for the later stage and thesame thing happened to person that did the Total recruitment in OTC conference in Texas and Career in Africa fair in the US. Total just went blank. Infact I have a friend who did medicals almost 2years in London ago and yet to resume work with them because they said they don't have an open position for him yet. There is also another friend that participated in the May 2011 career In Africa Summit in London that is yet to do the final interview after being successful in the last one he did.
As for me, I already have a job in an Oil operator in Europe, so I have kind of blanked them off my mind. My advice is if you're hoping on Total Nigeria, look for something else to do with your life else you could be frustrated

2.Throwing away all rational reasoning because it contradicts what their holy books says.

@2good,

Please am still expecting your advise.

@Nlders in Netherlands, what do you advise according to my previous Q?
Most of your questions are questions that have been answered over and over and you keep on asking them again in a different format. Why are you interested in their ladies? Its gives me the impression that you are not really serious with coming here to study. Most of my Nigerian friends here came here on full scholarship including myself but if you are not on scholarship and not getting funding from your family, then please forget coming here to study. The only Nigerian guy I know that is not on scholarship here in the Netherlands is frustrated because he has not even been able to get a job due to strict immigration regulations but he's being sustained currently by his folks in Nigeria which is not easy for him. I am being as open as possible about the state of things here. Alot of people will paint life abroad to be very perfect but the truth is that it is not always so. Also, myself and most of my friends got international jobs before graduation because we went to good and reputable schools and got good results. But the story is not always rosy for everybody

D sage: Want their posts/comments to based on owned knowledge,experience/physical contact with reality or facts, rather than copy and paste.
But everything you religious folks spread around and believe in is based on what you were indoctrinated with from birth, so what makes you any better? Also majority of Christians to be specific go to church, do away with all sense of basic reasoning and accept everything fed to them by their pastors hook line and sinker and the result is what you have in Nigeria. People refuse to think and use their brain to solve problems but instead allow others to think for them. The best way to live your life is to stop bothering yourself with what other people believe in and also mind your business by not imposing what you believe on others. I was brought up in a very religious Christian home and my entire family is still extremely religious but that didn't stop me from choosing my own part which of course came with strong criticism and condemnation but I have overtime been able to put every religious bigot around me where they should be why not trying to impose my believe on others. The point is stop pushing your believe down the throat of others and then there wont be need for argument.

You have a good GPA that can really be of help you. I think you should be able to get some form of scholarship even if its just full tuition only. Try Leiden University because I have a friend that got full tuition scholarship there to study Psychology and her GPA is not up to yours, so its a good place to start. Also I will advice you to take your time to check all the universities you can find in the Netherlands that offer your course of interest, check their scholarship requirements and apply. Don't let anyone discourage you as the worst case scenario is that the school won't give you the scholarship but at thesame time, if you don't try by applying there is no hope of getting any form of funding.I took interest in your post because you have the best resources(high GPA) for getting a scholarship. I study Petroleum Engineering, so I cant be of very good help to you here other than what I have typed above. Also please avoid Russia and your life will not be safe there. The best way to get information lies in you taking your time to search for schools and applying to them yourself. The information you will get from people is superficial compared to what you will get if you do your personal search.
All the best in your academic pursuit.

At OP, welcome to the real world. Religion like you rightly identified is a man made tool used by few to control the mind of many. Its very difficult to be a non believer as a Nigerian staying in Nigeria, that is part of the reason I made up my mind to remain in Europe after my masters degree. My advice is graduate from medical school, start your life, get your absolute independence and come out of your closet if need be otherwise you will feel more like a hypocrite to yourself when you are being forced to indulge in religious rhetoric's. I personally made it know to my family many years(16 years) back that I don't want to go to church again that I don't like the environment but it wasn't until recently that I told them categorically that the god of every religion on earth is farce and were created by fellow men to control their life and extort the little they have from them with promise of some miracles and eternal life which have got no proof of existence and the threat of damnation to souls that refuse to accept. Its a practice based on nothing but threat that is why people cling on to it for fear of the unknown. Life style in the western countries is a proof to show that you don't need God/gods to build a good nation as compared to the likes of Afghanistan, Somalia, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria and almost all African countries where people have refused to develop and give themselves a good life by using their brain to reason but instead they are waiting for some god to come help them solve their most basic problem.
My final advice to you is that you are the owner of your life so don't allow people to live it for you. Your happiness is your priority and should come before your family and societal satisfaction. Welcome to a new world where you view people as equals with no religious bias or difference.

For the OP, I am currently dating an Agnostic man and he is the most tolerant and loving man I have ever come across and this is coming from the daughter of a pastor. I have chosen to believe in the bible and like most Christians I have picked the rules to follow that would lead me to live right. I am in no position to judge my boyfriend and you should not judge your husband too.

You know deep in your heart that he is a good man and when it is you both at home you are OK with him exactly how he is and the problem is with others. You don't have anything to be ashamed of. Most religious people are hypocrites so it is only the heart that matters.
Being an agnostic myself but married to a serious Christian, I've had alot of problems with her as regards religious expectations because she always look at what people will say. Nigeria is full of hypocrites that don't judge people based on their deeds but by societal expectations. My take about the whole thing is that if you can practice your Christianity openly, then I as a human being with free will and rights should be able to practice my agnostic believes openly and freely and if you don't subscribe and respect my believes, then you don't want to be married to me because I cannot live a miserable life in the name of marriage.

They reason so much in that direction that I once asked one of my friends in Nigeria why they believe what the white man says but when a fellow black mans thesame thing, they listen. Their mentality is that as a black man you are not suppose to reason for yourself but instead imbibe all what you are taught in the church/mosque as the case may be which is a big problem the black race is suffering from.

Many oyinbo's are christians but they dont go about forcing it in the throat of others like you religious Nigerians do. Religion should be a personal thing but in a situation where everybody around you as a Nigerian attached every single part of your life to a belief system you do not share, then it is problem and that is the problem you all have in Nigeria.

Since 7 victims of the Madalla bomb blast went blind, this is the opportunity for all the so called MOG to come and proof that their god or prayer works. Atleast they always make noise about miracle from prayer.

@Mr Helpee

If I may come in.

No need for animosity and angst between us, Lets try and discuss maturely and agree to dis-agree.

Firstly, the title of this thread notes that 'Bishop Oyedepo's Curse Has Started Working On Boko Haram', so obviously someone feels has the right to state their belief. However, you need to understand that, as this is a public forum, there will be others who also posses the right to dis-agree.

I understand that you revere Oyedepo, a stand that should be respected, however you have to understand that there are others that do not. And their stand should also be respected as you would want them to respect yours.

On the subject of the topic, at least lets be honest with ourselves, the 'curse' is not working! (at least as of yesterday). So, continuous defence of the title is a show of deep insecurities.

If Christians, who claim to hold the pillars of everlasting truth and should be models for honesty, cant accept something as obvious as a curse not working, it only gives 'unbelievers' more ammunitions to suspect folly within the religion.

Once again, these are my opinions, yours would be delightfully welcomed.
Leave them to continue deceiving themselves and living in poverty and chaos. After living outside the country for sometime and visiting nigeria, i noticed the deep level of abnormal reasoning displayed by Nigerians including adults because of their religious believes and made up my mind to speak negatively about it in the public as the nation is more or less not working with all d so called praying and fasting. The people in the country that have been confined to life style in Nigeria see the chaos they go through everyday as normal and never agree to work together to make their life better by planning and co-operating together but rather go to church to pray for prosperity and divine intervention.

I actually underestimated the level of your stupidity. With your write up, I suddenly discovered I was responding to an  who is largely suffering from insecurity. So ? After realising that 30 people died yesterday what have you done better than mocking the spirit of the dead by rushing to nairaland to use them to settle scores and gain cheap points? To be frank with you, idiots like you don't have have the ability to reason beyond their nose. Show me one single country that claims there is no God and yet they are succesful like you claim? Why are u so shallow in your thinking? If you actually take time to study the origin of the internet you will be shocked that even the originators of internet ascribe their success to God; anyway that is why you are grossly unsuccesful as its obvious in your level of animosity towards the society. People like you expect God to practically come down and do everything for them and once things are not working out they rush to a forum to deny the existence of God. silly; that is the only language I can use to describe a slowpoke like you.
I dont believe in your bible and any of the gods out there so get that straight in your head before you ascribe your foolishness and spirituality to me. I live in an environment where i have friends with atleast 10 different religious sects and we all mind our business and restrict our believes to our mind. But stupid religious Nigerians like you are out there displaying your bigotry, forcing your believes on people, killing yourself in the name of a god that have long forsaken you if at all he exist. Continue to enjoy the suffering and insecurity you go through since you have accepted it as the norm and promise of your god for you. And concerning the least religious country, the internet is open and free for you to learn the correlation between religiosity and prosperity. I wont be the one to educate you on that.
