I kinda agree, 1 or 2 years of military service may be more purposeful, perhaps it will re-instil the spirit of patriotism in Nigerian youths, a virtue which I believe is close to non-existent for most.
KingAzubuike:
These scheme ought to be scrapped.

I propose a one year mandatory service in the military for all graduates. That's more efficient and purposeful than NYSC

True, but the harrassment may continue regardless. Disgruntled unemployed youths organizing themselves in cohorts will still harass people demanding for money. As a foreigner beset by paranoia and considering these people are in groups, you may just part with some money, to prevent the damage of your properties. I mean if you report the matter to the police and the police come over to investigate the matter 24 hours, grin, how will they find the people who damaged your property?
Just30:
hmm

The government will even be doing everyone a favour including the GA community
which will save the chiefs from the numerous land litigation cases they are involved in at the High Court
Politics › Re: Ghanaian Monarch On Demolition: Nigeria Wanted To Take Our Land Forcibly by benji93: 2:22pm On Jun 23, 2020
That's gonna hit the Ga community bad, man. grin. That's how these people survive. That would literally mean taking everything away from them. I don't think the government would want to do something like that without compensating them. If they can that would minimize the land sale problems.
Just30:
Ghana land issues.... hmm

Unless Government repossesses all land, it is not going to end anytime soon.
To be able to do that, this current constitution will have to be thrown away.
Politics › Re: Ghanaian Monarch On Demolition: Nigeria Wanted To Take Our Land Forcibly by benji93: 2:17pm On Jun 23, 2020
We'll have to wait for the governments report on the matter to be sure of what actually happened, cos this not far from what the landowners in Accra can do with respect to lands. Even if you have acquired a land legally, they can resell it to other individuals if you do not develop it. And they come once or twice a year harassing people and telling you to give them some money, even though you own the land legally. This is perpetrated by the youths sometimes with the consent of their Mantses(chief).
ajl:
Address the point. The land is not part of Nigeria High Commission. And what is being constructed on the land is an event centre. Is Nigerian commission in Ghana now a money making event centre. The point here is that Nigerian businessman is working in connivance with the high commission to use the land for what it is not meant for and probably encroaching on land that does not belong to the commission. This is not Lagos or Abuja where powerful people just wake up one day to take over land illegally. As usual, someone is exporting bad behaviour.
Politics › Re: Ghanaian Monarch On Demolition: Nigeria Wanted To Take Our Land Forcibly by benji93: 2:05pm On Jun 23, 2020
Meanwhile, this is a typical thing with respect to lands in Accra. If you buy or lease land in Accra, if you do not develop the land, even within the period of ownership, these so-called landowners would resell the undeveloped part of the land to somebody else.
Just30:
The property was not illegally bulldozed,

The ownership of the land is not in contention.
If the land ownership was in contention or the Nigerian High Commission had been on it for more than 5 years, then they would have needed court permission before they bulldoze it.

I actually checked the website, and Nigeria is not even on the list. I am disappointed in you for putting out such information without verification.

We part ways at this point. If you had the education I had you will be bowing down to God morning, afternoon, and evening. grin. My point is, there's a certain level of education you get that would empower you with the intellect to determine what argument is salient and what is not. That was what you missed in that submission on education. I previously told you, but your perceived sense of knowledge, which is quite lacking, won't allow you to see reason. It's a belief, and by definition, I don't need evidence. It's as simple as that. Your argument has always been related to the provision of evidence, and what I was pointing to you was that this argument is not sensible, cos it doesn't necessarily apply to a belief system, by definition. You claim we should be blamed for your unbelief, and that's the dumbest thing anyone would say. Again this points to sound education on the subject. You are definitely free to continue in your unbelief, and I won't argue with your unbelief. From your comments, you don't seem to understand what terms/explanations are useful in your argument. You keep mixing everything together. You mentioned supernatural, and still require evidence? I am quite disappointed. Meanwhile, your attack of other's beliefs is the problem, The valid context required to hold up your unbelief is different from that required to hold up my belief, but you don't seem to get the distinction and that's the problem. To be able to argue your case of unbelief, you would have to be able to get onto the same ground with the case of belief. You have not been able to create such a ground, hence your arguments just fall through. I wish you well in your endeavors. Just move on to something you are actually good at. We agree to disagree.

And stop using words like "encephalon". Is "brain" too hard to spell? grin. Your level of education especially on the subject doesn't depend on how scarcely used your words are. It's definitely above your pay grade. grin.
CyberEBOLA:
Hahaha! There goes a self acclaimed literate who cannot backup his claims with convincing evidence. Makes me wonder if your education wasn't a waste of fund.
You honestly should be refunded. .

There is nothing here worth celebrating or even showcasing. Look at the haphazard building patterns smh.
SW needs to look inward more. The way all Yorubas are abandoning their state to decay while piling up investments in Lagos should be a thing of big worry to Yorubas. There is need to invest more in the different States of SW and not leaving them to decay and rot. Ibadan is a case study.

I have just been able to measure your level of education. You don't have more than a bachelor's degree, in fact a sub-bachelors certificate is very likely. The point is your argument is not salient. Provision of evidence doesn't work for everything. You are not dong well, man. Perhaps if you have had a better education on what is, you can contact me again. grin.
CyberEBOLA:
Hehehe!
Logically speaking, when you have sufficient proof to backup your claim that heaven and hell exists, contact me. grin
Christianity Etc › Re: If A Baby Dies Will He/She Go To Heaven Or Hell? by benji93: 5:30pm On Jun 21, 2020
I initially laughed when i wrote that, cos this is something more physical, and when i thought about it, it sounded ok. Do we not store data in clouds. Based on my religious beliefs, why can God, being all-powerful not be able institute such a system if your mind in the previous life is required in the after life. Again that opinion is based on some beliefs. You dont believe in the things I believe, on religious ground, so such a position is pointless to you. And it's well taken. On the issue of other living things like us, I could argue that they do not live based on reason. They were not created the same way we were created. Again based on my belief it's only God that can decide what judgement they will be subjected to. Remember all this is based on my belief. We are at an impasse. You can continue on in your unbelief. But I sincerely hope you see the light.
CyberEBOLA:
Spiritual cloud storage? Hahahaha!
You people will never stop amusing me grin grin

I guess the life after death only applies to selected living things, because I wonder what will become the end of canivorous animals.
Their killing spree will obviously make them end up in hell. Hehehe!

Just know this, they are living things like us, and what happens to them after death(inexistence) is what will happen to us too.
Christianity Etc › Re: If A Baby Dies Will He/She Go To Heaven Or Hell? by benji93: 5:07pm On Jun 21, 2020
It's definitely your right to wallow in unbelief. And you seem to misunderstand the definition of belief by pestering us to provide evidence. In other words by belief in something I can't physically prove doesn't invalidate my belief. It fits the definition of a belief. In fact in physics there's no such thing as proving a theorem. All you endeavour do to is disprove it. Meanwhile you can't blame someone else for your beliefs. Your beliefs are your decisions based on your experience or lack of it.

You also need to choose your words wisely when making such arguments. What does supernatural mean?
You are trying to prove your claim that a belief is not true with an argument/words that don't quite belong in the parlance of a belief system. That's quite extraordinary I would say. grin
CyberEBOLA:
Well, those who believes in the existence of such things are to be blamed for our disbeliefs.

If you say something exists(hell/heaven), and you cant give sufficient and convincing proof, then you are to be blamed.

SUPERNATURAL CLAIMS, REQUIRES SUPERNATURAL EVIDENCE.
Christianity Etc › Re: If A Baby Dies Will He/She Go To Heaven Or Hell? by benji93: 3:52pm On Jun 21, 2020
On the other hand, not believing in it doesn't put it out of existence too. Your unbelief it doesn't exist is a belief too, I am afraid. The problem I have with atheists is they calling religious beliefs such as heaven stupid. They can argue their non-belief based on lack of knowledge but well new particles are discovered in particle collides. SO
CyberEBOLA:
Well, belief can be powerful, reminds me of the placebo effect.
Unfortunately, believing that heaven and hell exists doesnt actually make it exist.
Christianity Etc › Re: If A Baby Dies Will He/She Go To Heaven Or Hell? by benji93: 3:23pm On Jun 21, 2020
Your last argument is only valid if you need what's stored in your brain in heaven. Perhaps everything goes into a spiritual cloud storage once you die, which is recopied back into whatever form of mind you have in heaven. But again the plan of heaven may include the fact that you do not need it. That's you will be living a completely different life. In which case your journey on earth is is used of judging your worthiness of that life. So you see your non-belief in fact makes some assumptions which may me useless in the argument of heaven

CyberEBOLA:
The point is that you didnt exist before reproduction took place and same thing will happen when you die.
Oblivion!

Meanwhile, everything we know or learnt, are stored in our brain, makes me wonder how you will know or remember anything in the so-called heaven after death. grin grin

Matthew 19 vs 14. However, I suppose this passage was referring to ideal children. I do not think the children today fit that category. So only God can judge who an innocent child is. As someone else wrote, it's your duty as a parent to bring up your child in the way, cos if your child fails as an ideal child, your role in that will be judged.
Reelafonja:
According to the Bible the yardstick for making heaven is giving your life to Christ. So if a young child dies at a young age and can't confess Jesus as Lord because he/ she can't talk or too young to comprehend.

Will he/she go to heaven.

There's no point in continuing an exchange on the subject of racism in Turkey as compared to some of these european countries/western countries, which is clearly relatively low. Are you kidding me. The 90% Moslem population online is a blatant exaggeration. A reason why you may need to do subsequent research to confirm their statements. There are provinces that in which Islamic religion is quite widespread. But there are provinces, inn which a a greater percent of their population are not keenly interested in religion. Some of them may have moslem name, but they don't pray. This current generation of Turks are becoming more and more non religious. So there's an important information for you.

I would like to provide some extra information in addition to what Prof Wip7 may have provided. METU Ankara is a public institution. Although it's tuition fees are significantly cheaper than other schools that offer the same quality of education, admission is quite competitive. This competition is further intensified by the international student quota limit, which could vary from time to time depending on the graduation rate of international students. I won't lie to you, the curriculum across all departments is quite rigorous, and struggling with your courses in the first year is kind of a norm here. In fact, getting NA/F is a normal thing. grin. No jokes. Just putting reality into perspective. You will find a significant proportion of the students completing their programs at least one semester beyond the normal duration(4 years). I suppose that toughness is what you get for paying meager tuition fees. grin. The minimum requirement as provided is probably not enough to get you in. Your WASSCE grades should be in the highs, an average of around B2 in 5 subjects or so.

Such clueless leaders. I would think APC and PDP have different ideologies, so this act of jumping from one political party to another shouldn't be a thing. That tells how terrible our politics and governance are. But honestly, I believe 1 term is enough to do something quite tangible in a state. Why is he hell-bent on getting a second term. Obaseki, in a statement seen by POLITICS NIGERIA, revealed that his new membership of the PDP was to enable him contest for a second term as Governor of the State. He stated that he plans to continue good governance and sustainable development for the state.

"I have officially joined the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State."

"I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear state," he stated.

POLITICS NIGERIA earlier reported that Obaseki's exit from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC came as a result of his disqualification from contesting the party's primaries.

True super eagles fan indeed. What's your definition of True? The French league is a much better league? Do you mean the farmers' league? grin. Which young players are you referring to? You mean the ones playing for teams not even in the top ten of the farmers' league, or the ones playing in Scotland, Czech Republic, Belgium, Fiji e.t.c. grin. e.t.c. Nwakaeme is playing first-team football for the best team in the Turkish super lig. Are you referring to the Algerian match in which we played on a bouncy pitch, without any creative midfielder? Cos you mentioned it, I had to go and watch that match again. We were terrible on the offense. We were literally playing three holding midfielders(Ogu, Ndidi, and Etebo). The coach didn't even invite any creative midfielder. Iheanacho was also terrible on the flanks. I can count how many times Nwakaeme got the ball. No coordination in the midfield, terrible midfield to front-line linkage. I can go on and on. Besides, I don't know why he was even invited then. His stats weren't even good then, and he was playing in Isreal. How many times was that basketball player, grin, Sadiq Umar invited despite flopping consistently? Did you just mention Lookman the benchwarmer or Ejuke playing for Heerenveen 10th in Eredivisie? I am trying to understand your point, but unfortunately to no avail.

I respect your liking Rohr. I don't dislike him per se. The team has seen a period of respite.I just don't think he's technically flexible enough-which contributes to the overall technical ability of a coach. Especially because, for some time now, the team has become notorious for playing intensely in the first 20/25 minutes or so, then they just fade out. He's yet to find a solution to that problem. perhaps he doesn't realize it's a problem.

Sometimes I don't quite understand what we want as Nigerians. grin. We all agree players should be invited on merit. But now, somebody plays well, he's too old, or there's too much competition. If he is playing better than all those donning the GWG out wide, then play him. He's been involved in 19 of his team's goals in 25 matches, better than any Nigerian playing wide currently(statwise). I don't understand how that doesn't warrant a look in. Invite him. Play him, if he doesn't measure up, don't invite him again. What is required of a good coach is to get the right mix of quality players regardless of age, we are not going to the next tournament to compete for the youngest team. Heck no, for all i care, those Turks in Germany were born in Germany. I don't understand how you think you know a country better than someone who's been there for years, even though you have never stayed for more than 3 months. You can believe whatever you want to believe. What the heck are you even talking about? Why he's still in power? You have not been listening. Elections are conducted every 4 years, and he won over 50% of the votes in the last one. Did they hold protests? How many people. The majority of the people voted him in, and that's all that matters. His people? grin. Can you please rethink your bases for assuming Erdogan is a tyrant. The Turks in Germany are protesting? And you think their grievances must be true. ; D. Someone lives in a foreign land and he thinks he must know the full picture of what's happening back at home cos he's are Turkish, and you outrightly believe them. Quite disappointed. Clearly they will more biased towards a westernized Turkish state similar ot Germany. And If you don't know much about a place other than what you read online, or what you hear from diasporans you need to be cautious of your opinion. I repeat again, on the issue of racism, the USA is far worse, the keyword is "far worse". I have discussed it. Besides my argument is solely on racism in Turkey by Turks, not on the government of Turkey. As you said perhaps this is derailing the thread, but you mentioned Turkey, and as a resident, i am obliged to chime in. You could have just limited yourself to Isreal. But of all the racist countries you could mention, you mentioned Turkey. You won't even mention Germany, a country in which racism is more pronounced, cos you live there?
Edit: I just looked up racism in Germany now, and there was a report by Al Jazeera that a german, with white supremacist motivations, went into two shisha joints, killed nine and injured 5(Hanau Murders). There's even an anti-Muslim party (AfD). There also cases of housing services not wanting to rent their houses to people that are not ethnic germans.
I could base my argument on this and tell you that Germany must be a racist country. But yet I'll be hesitant, cos I have never been there.
Danielhouston:
You live in Turkey and I respect your experience, even though I don’t agree with the points you made. Like I said, I’ve been to Turkey and Israel and they both treat black people badly with similar terrible working and living conditions.

I should also mention that I live in Germany, which is home to many Turkish people, they’re the largest immigrant population in Germany. Speaking to them and seeing how they treat Black people also tells me a lot about their country. They even hold protests here against their Turkish government and call their president a tyrant. That is to answer your question about why he’s still in power.

There are a lot of things I could say, but let’s not derail this thread. The OP asked about Panama and Israel, so let’s leave it at that.

I can't talk about Isreal, but I can talk about Turkey, cos i live there. Most Nigerians working here don't have work permits, unfortunately. Those that are into English don't even have teaching certification. Every businessman is looking to make the most profit. So, if you wanna work for my language school, how about I pay you less. If you want to get paid the standard go get an English language degree or the teaching certificate. Turkey wasn't built to accommodate foreigners. They provide jobs to employ their own citizens, which is obvious from the fact that the government-the biggest employer- only employs Turkish citizens. And that's fine, your people should always come first. Employment is largely limited by the language. They are not as highly industrialized as the US-not even close at all- so there's little diversity in the kind of opportunities available to foreigners. If I was not in an academic setting I would probably be doing one of those odd jobs myself. Do you want them to give you their jobs at the expense of their people? I am sometimes amazed by the fact they are not quite belligerent given the influx of Syrian refugees, who according to them are receiving a lot of incentives from the government at their expense. If there's animosity on such grounds I won't blame them, but I would prefer that it is directed at their leaders, but if you believe your leaders are not listening to you, your feelings will definitely develop to hatred. They have only been opening their doors for over 2 decades or so, particularly to Somalis and Syrian refugees. For one where did, you reside in Turkey? Be smart and well-grounded on your assertions and comparisons. Why would you overstay your visa in another country? I understand that survival sometimes brings us to that point, but it's still unacceptable, and whatever comes of it when you are caught accept it. You can only hope you don't get caught. Besides some of our people overstay and indulge in nefarious activities-Istanbul especially-so what do you expect? What the heck do you mean by rights? Isn't it illegal to overstay your visa? In Yoruba, we will say "Oun ti oju e bari ni be fara mo". Sorry if you don't understand, it's just quite suitable here. I understand you feel for your friend, but I wouldn't even be sure your friend is not at fault unless I hear his side of the story. And by the way, what you have described so far doesn't count as racism. You are being more emotional than rational, and that's always a problem when you wanna decide if a decision is reasonable. I don't want to bring this up, but the last I checked George Floyd had rights, but well the policeman still held him down by his neck. There've been numerous other cases, and you don't have to go that far down memory lane to dig them out. This is in a country that supposedly protects the rights of its people, not to talk of foreigners. As far as I am concerned, on the issue of racism, Turkey is not comparable to the US. It's worse in the US. Read more according to whom. I interact with Turks, so I don't necessarily have to go and find the information online which could be incorrect to different degrees, and the people publishing them could very well have ulterior motives other than publishing the news. You claim the people are afraid of their government but he has been re-elected at least 3 times. I don't know how that happens if the majority of the people do not want him there. According to those who don't support the government, they want a more liberal system-more western, at least that's the face of their argument. This is very well their right. They can only hope enough people join their camp, so they get want they want. As far as governance is concerned the opinion of the majority is correct until they are no longer the majority, whether they are uneducated or not. You can only hope somehow they get that education and see your light. But your light may not be correct, even if you have had a formal education, or you think you have.

Danielhouston:
Have you been to Turkey? Have you been to Israel?

I’ve been to both countries and my experience is that they’re equally bad for Black people (Africans). Most of the Nigerians who seem to be successful in Turkey are internet fraudsters. Otherwise, there is great suffering and discrimination in Turkey.
The working conditions are basically modern day slavery. Some Nigerians can’t even leave Turkey or return to Nigeria because they overstayed their visas and would be arrested and fined if they’re caught.

They do the shittiest jobs and get treated very badly. They can’t even marry for document. Infact, you could be attacked for trying to date a Turkish girl. Yes, a lot of it stems from the bad impression Nigerians have made but most of it is just pure hate and racism. Even their police hate us more.

I’ve been trying to get my best friend out of Turkey for about a year now and we’re still on it. I warned him before he went there but he didn’t listen. Now he’s suffering so much and would do anything to return to Nigeria. I’ve visited him a few times.
I had even arranged to get veneers in Turkey because of the cheap medical service. Seeing how they treat Black people, I cancelled my appointment and vowed to never put my money in their economy.

That being said, it is the same in Israel. You saying you’d rather experience racism in Turkey than in US, I hope that was sarcasm. People in the US have rights and constitutional laws that can protect people of color from racial injustice. What rights do you have in Turkey as an African man? Even Turkish nationals are afraid of their government. You should read more.
