RomanceRe: My Husband Inherited His Late Brother's Wife by bixton(m): 4:53am On Sep 14, 2019
Renderhelp:
@Renderhelp

I am an Aussie married to a Nigerian man. He was a poor immigrant when we met. After we got married, he helped manage my Ranch. I must say, he's a hardworking bloke and a little Aussie battler.

I always wanted kids but he was never interested. He said the world was too wicked for innocent kids and I agreed.

He always sends a huge part of our income to his family in Nigeria especially his late brother's wife. I asked him why he does that and he said its part of the Nigerian culture.

One day, I was going through our bank statement and I thought to look up his brother's wife's profile on Facebook. I was shocked to see she had a few month old baby as her husband died years ago. I kept scrolling and I saw the wedding photos of she and my husband.

When I asked my husband, he apologises and explained to me about the culture of men inheriting their late brother's wife. I told him he was murking around, but I looked it up online and it was true!

I asked if he was the father of the baby and he agreed. He thought the woman was on pills. He said he had to perform his 'duty' to her if not she will report to the village chief and they will have him flogged at the square.

He suggested we bring the baby to Australia to stay with us. We are trying to process that and I'm thrilled about it.

I reckon this culture is bizarre and Nigerians are living in the dark ages. I am a true blue and I haven't seen or heard anything so ridiculous. I hope your parts become civilized soon enough.

TA!
This your story is not pure at all.
There's no such thing as that existing in Nigeria and nobody does that anywhere in Nigeria. You can tell that to the children as midnite stories. You even deliberately refused telling us which part of Nigeria, tribe, state and community your husband comes from.
That woman is completely your husband's wife and never was his brother's wife. Nobody and in no place anyone officially does a marriage ceremony to an inherited wife.............that will amount to paying of bride price twice and doing certain ceremonies.
It's either you're completely lying or being dumb or your husband is telling your straight lies to your face and you're buying it telling us you're an Aussie.

Apologies but this story is entirely completely false.
He has refused to have children with you because he does not want to have children elsewhere because of his love for his original wife.
Good luck.

Husbands please will you be happy with your wife,if you discover she is saving from the house keep money? Please give reasons.

I went to spend sometime with my elder sister along with my mum cos she just delivered. And recently her husband was quarreling with her it got so serious that mumsy had to intervene. after everything died down, I asked mumsy what happened she said the man was very angry because his wife which is my sister has been saving money from the upkeep money he's been given to her.

that if she had any left overs she should have told him so he'll add it to the next money he'll give and spend less. he said she's selfish and inconsiderate.

for me I don't see any big deal in it cos as a woman a nursing mother she should have some cash in hand.

please what are your views
Whatever her reasons are, there's nothing wrong she's doing and no husband should act in that manner to his wife.
There's one thing I always tell women and those who say they are Christians. If truly you need the success of your husband be it a house wife or working as well and as long as the husband gives the wife money for house-up keep or personal up-keep she should endeavour to do those things as done by the "virtuous woman" in the Bible according to what she has. Any serious minded wife should read that entire chapter in the Bible and get the message its speaks on. It's not just for the wife but for her children especially.

'WHY ARE SOME NIGERIANS VERY MEAN AND WICKED TO FELLOW CITIZENS?

I have just received report of an attempted murder of one Elvis Omoiri by a neighbour, Best Uduophori who runs a beer parlor in Okoloba, Effurun, Uvwie LGA, Delta State, over a mere political argument. What are we turning politics into in this country? You want to kill someone over Buhari and Atiku tribunal matter? This is animalistic!

You break a bottle and stabbed a fellow countryman almost to the point of death over APC and PDP matters? So, someone doesn't have right to personal opinion again in Nigeria?

Just few days ago, we were all against South Africans for Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians. Today, it is a Nigerian that seem not to value the life of a fellow Nigerian. This is very disgusting, cruel, callous, mean and most condemnable.

I learnt the matter has been reported to the Area Commander in Warri and that the Police is on the look out for the guy, who is said to be at large at the moment. The Nigerian Police Force should do everything in its power to arrest the accused at ones and properly investigate this matter. Justice need to be served and fast. Until we get serious by taking strict measures against crimes like this, Nigeria will not be safe for anyone. The perpetrator of this heinous attack should be punished accordingly.

I have to download the photo of the accused from his Facebook account for easy recognition. He should present himself before the Police and answer nagging questions.

We must stop concealing serious security issues if we want this madness to stop'

Attempted murder with intent to kill is life time imprisonment or should I say 200 years in jail without no room for pardon.

One of the Best decisions taken by Buhari.. Should be 8% to be honest

We can't rely on oil anymore. We have the lowest VAT in the whole region, we need roads, bridges, rail, busses, security, oil is not enough for 200 million people.

we have a national budget for 200 million people equivalent to a Walmart a grocery store and you want good healthcare??
Before you agree to that can you compare the countries at the top on that list before Nigeria given the vast resources and economy given the past 15 years or more?

Is there any justification to do such given that the government will and never may even do those things which you think they are supposed to provide?

And we will still find ourselves in this faulty applications of simple economic principles even in the next 20 years if care is not taken.
HealthRe: Help Needed: Sleeplessness, Persistent Pain In The Head And Neck by bixton(m):
ssgi4in1:
Good evening good people. I am hoping I will get some help here.
Pls this will be a bit a long. I beg you to read. So you can understand better.

My problem started last year April (2018). I was diagnosed with typhoid and malaria. I was started on a course of treatment that involves anti malaria and an antibiotics (azithromycin). I noticed the quality of my sleep was dropping after taking the antibiotic for 2 days. My instincts was that it was the medicine. I eventually stopped taking it but by then my sleep have become badly affected. I woke up a Sunday morning after taking some drinks the previous night at a wedding with one severe type of headache ( I started the antibiotics on Thursday, took on Friday and missed it that Saturday) I continued that Sunday morning. So I eventually stopped all medicine and consulted a doctor friend. By then I had gone two nights with little or no sleep. He prescribed some drugs that was meant to induce sleep and even increased the dosage yet I still couldn't sleep.

Meanwhile before then, I am someone who could be called a sleeper. I can sleep at anytime without stress. I even take naps here and there in my office. So it was strange.

I eventually went to some hospitals and their treatment involved giving me sleep medicines and sometimes it could help me get very little amount of sleep and then it will make me feel very groggy and heavily fatigued. By this time a weird sensation have developed in the left side of my back head (this pain doesn't come and go... It is permanent). After spending some huge amounts I wasn't getting relief until I went to a neurologist. He first suspended all the sleep medications and started giving me amitriptyline 5mg every night ( after few days I started feeling better and had some deep sleep) but still the problem wasn't gone ( head pain and stiff neck).

I was paying about 30k monthly at the neurologists. It wasn't sustainable and I eventually stopped and decided to take my fate in my own hands. I eventually stopped taking any medication for sleep last November.

Between then and now, I have had some good nights where I slept very deeply and nights when I struggled. I have gone like 2 weeks without sleep issues. But still the pain in the back of the head and neck still persist.

Just yesterday I went to consult another gp and his diagnosis was that it was the poor sleep that is causing the pain in the head and neck. But I still find it difficult to believe. I will be having a video session with an Indian neurologist tommorow and I hope he will make a different diagnosis.

My coming here is to know if anyone have had an experience with my case and I would like to know how they solved their problem.

I will appreciate any suggestion that will be of help.

Thank you.
I'll advice you look for person(s) who are into massaging, the native method.
It's the best method to solve your issue if only you can get in touch with someone who knows it.

I don't know where you are resident but I believe you can get a good one within your location.

What's your most likely sleeping position?
Do you use a pillow while sleeping?

Hope you don't have high blood/low blood issues?
But if you do have high blood pressure, I'll recommend simple herbs/fruits you can take for such.
If its low blood pressure, I'll recommend certain fruits to be prepared by you to take.
All available at your reach.

More so why is it that professionals, consultants and contractors don't recommend, construct and build a tank system within the roof ( embedded within the roof wood work frame/inside the ceiling). Is it not cost effective in its entirety compared to the design and construction of an external tank stand?

At time it might happened that I met the building halve way (most pipe might’ve been berried inside slab) or on the roof already).
Some might be from the drawing.
Or at times I design it on my own.

But let me say I like downward system mostly bcs if your tank is far from the building this system is the best.
Okay.
Well I think if anyone is trying the fly system then the tank should be as close as possible to the building itself as much as its structurally safe for both. It's ideal that pipe from the tank taking water to the building be less visible to on-lookers irrespective of the positioning or view of the building. This is just an assumption that whoever did the plumbing works offered his services from the beginning of the construction of the structure. Thereby the thought of one wondering what manner of person did such kind of work will not occur in his absence.

What he has done is commendable and should be done as the opportunity arises given the resources to spare at that point in time. It is God who blesses and He alone gives it all. There's no need to quote how much is spent on doing such. Render whatever assistance you can to the best of your ability.
It is nice they sing the national anthem but do they believe and accept they are from the same country?
Even if the Nigerian State at the presidency level is slow to act, I think its expedient that the respective states where these returnees comes from, come to their aid immediately and let their representatives at all levels also act as well.
We should be proactive in our doings and refrain from over talking.

Everything/every system has merit and demerit

Advantages of this system fly over ( upper connection supply)
1. It will reduce materials.
2. There will be water for both the upper and down floor of the building at the last bottom level of the tank water.
Disadvantage
1. Their will be likely air lock once in a while( but once the taps are open within 2-10 minute it will be off).

Advantage of direct downward system.
1. Air lock can not occur on this system

Disadvantage
1. Once the water on the over head tank is low, the upper floor will experience low pressure of water

Actually I use to do both, check the pics here we did down ward system for a nairaland member, Gbadex did the painting.
Do you do the "fly system" based on your clients informing you of their views or its your idea entirely?

The SS denied themselves the chance for Jonathan second term. He marginalized the Yorubas with the Igbos praising him thereby forgetting what the Yoruba did for him in his first term election. The Yorubas were not deemed fit to be in the first 4 top positions in the country and yet you said we voted him out.

Don’t get my reply up there wrong, I did not advocate for the SE/SS vote, I’m not saying the SW needs then like that, we’ve always have different voting patterns and everyone should be left to decide who they wanna vote for. The southern unity is a mirage.

You guys always hide under southern unity to bring the SW to your fold. Where was the southern unity during Shagari/Awolowo, Abiola/Tofa, Azikwe/Balewa/Awolowo? Are you implying the treachery of the southern region started in 2015 alone? Spare me that saying of that rubbish southern unity. It’s southern unity only when it favors you guys and the SW is strong enough to hold both SE/SS and weather the storm.

My eye is on the ruling party and the ticket is already given to the SW zone, this is not a matter of begging anyone, it’s a matter of reaping result of hard work.

Even if the APC fields a Muslim/Muslim ticket as you opined, they will still win coz they have the zone with the numbers. Politics is about numbers, it’s not a game for the weak minded, and religion is not a divisive tactics in the SW, hence if APC fields Fashola/El-Rufai, then they will win the election
Either way, the PDP will be defeated in 2023, either by a Northerner or a SE’ner. Do you copy that bro?
I can tell you that bold statement will never pass no matter what numbers you're referring to.
If it has not happened before it will forever not happen anytime forever and ever.

The PDP are the originators of zoning. Their failure to respect zoning in 2011 when they denied the North the opportunity to finish its turn by forcing Jonathan on the party as a scam "consensus candidate", was the main reason for their defeat in the 2011 Presidential elections (as even disgruntled northern PDP members, including the chairman, worked against GEJ) which signaled the beginning of the party's downfall that they're still struggling to recover from.

PDP will therefore not dare repeat their 2011 mistake by denying the south its turn in 2023. APC is also fielding a SW candidate with the support of its CPC & ANPP northern wing (despite SW splitting votes angry) .

It is only fair for power to move south after 8 years of northern Presidency. This country is on a delicate balance and we know an attempt to dominate the Presidency for 16 years is a recipe for national chaos, so we will definitely support the south.

2023 will be very interesting.
Your first paragraph appears to be some form of fantasy.
So the constitution of the country is inferior to that of a particular zone just because nature took its course...............

Now as regards zoning for political parties..........
With the PDP, they are expected to field a candidate from the eastern region.
While the APC will bring someone from the west for the presidential election.

There are 4 zones politically and are, west, north, south and east. I intentionally put it in this order because of the flow of presidential aspirants and presidents from 1999 till 2015 as regarding the PDP.

I see no serious contentions as to whatever is before the west or north. The east is expected to change their manner of politics if they truly desire to have a president of their kinsman irrespective of which party is incumbent of opposition. It's automatic for the south when its their turn it will be in place.

Why a bricklayer sirhuh I suppose one of the reasons for this thread is to promote professionalism, buy professional ideas and advice for free and to have value for your money after all.

I must say that bricklayers, as well as other workforce in a construction site will always have a need for an engineer not minding how small the project might be.

If you can't pay a QS please make sure an engineer handles if possible all your consideration hence construction is involved.
Non-professional or quackery should be discouraged.

One of the reasons why professionals are not frequenting the thread as lamented by some of us some weeks ago is actually because of this reason. Someone will go and conclude an error with an inexperienced worker and come here to throw the error on the house? You have already compromised quality sir...

That's another option. That can be correct only if the person is into construction and has the right figures too. It's not everyone that designs that can do a BOQ remember doing BOQ is an entire job of a Quantity Surveyor to do, just that in Nigeria here, an experienced and well groomed architect or builder can try to do it...
Yea. The purpose of my statement is that whoever does the drawings should know or have those who are in the know of putting up a BOQ. That way the client can incorporate the payment for the design and BOQ together at an agreed wholesome price. At the end of the day it may become a better bargain for the client. That way if asking for an alternative BOQ it would be from whoever the client intends giving out the design drawings to bring to reality to cross check with that previously done.

A lot of factors will determine that.

But lets say if your sub-structure (foundation wall) is about 2-3 course of block work you can budget 3M. It depends on your excavation depth though or type of foundation done. That foundation height is dependent on the land and existing road ooooo.

If you have money, buy

300 blocks can take you to window level or linted level
50 bags of cement will take you to same level

Take a break and plan for roofing and pvc ceiling noggin

Take a break, while on break get an aluminium guy to get the cost of windows and prepare them down

When you are back from break, fix the windows, get a plumber to do the piping, electrics connection too and plaster the entire house, that will cost you another 50 bags

Take a break and come back to fix frames then do tilling of the floor and fix doors

Any time you can save up to? 200,000 go to site with it.
What kind of house is he going to build with 300 blocks that will take to window or lintel level?

I'm a good cook as well..but it's d portoporto rice I have or know no secret about .

Good to see a man that can cook
Nice you cook.
I hope the rice you eat is not that used for tuwo......

Try this
If you parboil rice, ensure the water you put into the pot is about an inch above the rice. Ensure you don't completely dry the pot of water from the parboiling.
After washing the rice, and ready for proper cooking, ensure the water put now is same level with the rice in the pot.

Good luck.

Let us see if truly all wine mentioned in the Bible are alcoholic. Kindly read the below passage.

John 2:1-11 King James Version (KJV)
1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knewwink the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Verse 10 says the bad wine is brought out and served to people after they have WELL DRUNK. The governor of the wedding was surprised that in this case, the good wine was brought out last after people have WELL DRUNK.

To you guys who say it was alcoholic wine that Jesus miraculously gave at the wedding, what you are saying is that when people were totally drunk and wasted, Jesus now gave them MORE. He gave them more so that those who will drive home will have accident. grin

No buddy, he gave them more fruit juice. Read the passage below which talks about alcoholic wine. Look at how the bi le described it's effect which is exactly how one feels after drinking alcohol

Proverbs 23:31-35
31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

When you say it was alcoholic wine Jesus miraculously turned water into, what you are saying is that Jesus exposed those people to start beholding strange women and say junk as seen in verse 33 above.

Can you now see how wrong you are? The Bible not only kicks against drinking alcohol, it also says we shouldn't look at it as seen in verse 31@bixton @mcval @neddstark
The Bible kicks against it, YES.
But another thing the Bible kicks against is misinterpretation by anyone.

Now let me give you a simple illustration. I am in no way in support of drinking but that will not make me misinterpret the word as written there.

If by your claim you say, it was fruit juice that they drank at that wedding ......
Have you heard of Gin and Jiuce?
Do you know that if one is already drunk of wine and decides to drink fruit juice of any kind in addition to that, that person is practically doing more harm to himself/herself.....................
You can inquire from anyone who drinks or even a doctor..........

As to that which the man spoke as to the sweetness......
In parties and ceremonies, its mandatory that the best is first served before the inferior.
Now it's my understanding that the wine which Christ gave them is one which is unknown to them. That unknown-ness is in the taste and not whether its alcoholic or not.

SenatorAiyzik:
The problem is most of us do not know the meaning of the word SIN. To first ascertain if alcohol or anything is a sin, we must first know the true definition of the word SIN! Sin according to Google is "an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law" now take note of these words "transgression against divine law". Now what are the "divine laws"?? It is safe to say divine laws are also the commandments of God! Which we have the 10 commandments for. It is also stated when you go against the 10 commandments of God therefore u have sinned! Last I checked drinking or drunkenness was never part of the 10 commandments/divine laws of God which we were asked to live by. So this in turn means when we drink or get drunk, we didnt at any point go against the 10 commandments (divine laws) of God, therefore we haven't sinned. Summary is DRINKING OR GETTING DRUNK IS NOT A SIN! But being led astray and going against the 10 commandments(divine laws) when drunk, is a SIN and NOT the act of drinking or getting drunk!
The Holy Bible, Holy Scripture/Scrolls was written first before any dictionary or google.
You cannot use that definition as written in google to define SIN.
Those who read and understand the Bible know their sins and need no one to tell them otherwise.
From the OT, every act against the 10 commandments is sin.
In the NT, the very art of thinking that which bad is sin in itself together with indulging in it.
