Other whistleblowers have been paid quietly according to reports. It seems the problem in this case is that too many people were involved and each one tried to outsmart the other. It's clear now that the real blower is Stephen. He probably didn't know the right thing to do and ended up involving others. The money is a lot anyway. I wonder why they can't share it quietly and move on. Now they're all at risk. ![]() So bad for the anti corruption war. |
It's been stated elsewhere that the Facebook account is fake! |
Different strokes for different folks! We have also read here how RCCG and Living Faith Church (Winners) have impacted positively on their environments. They've tarred roads, provided basic amenities and uplifted many without so much noise in line with the Word of God. Sadly these days there's publicity for all these just to inform those who are against tithes and offerings. It's not necessary in my opinion because God who sees all will bless accordingly. The truth is that it is NOT the primary responsibility of the Church to build roads. That should come from the tax and levies we're forced to pay to the government at all levels. Tithe is not compulsory. The wise know why they pay. |
Imo citizens will liberate themselves if they so desire. |
rafhell:This should be confirmed and the post taken down if true. Sickening! Real horror!! |
@Op You need a lawyer and you need spiritual strength. If your mum was legally married, it's easier going through a legal process. Follow the lead on lawyers and contacts suggested. You, mum and siblings should avoid direct contact with the family as much as possible. Those who crave for others properties are usually desperate and very mean. May God guide and protect you. |
pcguru1:God will lift you up in wonderful ways. Those who deny widows and the fatherless of their entitlements always reap as they have sown. |
whateverkay:Check out the results of Oyo and Osun states. The reality is that the education standards has fallen drastically all over the country. No tribe is left out. Our education system needs a total overhaul. |
No wonder our Police Force is rated one of the worst in the world!. The suspects father should be made to produce his son. He has the guts to mock the victim because the NPF refused to do their job and protect the victim. It's so depressing! God rest her soul in perfect peace. |
The Church impacts positively on lives in our society in so many ways using the funds entrusted for that purpose. Tithe is just one aspect. Many give freely for specific purposes which is why there's always some development going on. Those who give freely have their reasons. Non believers also understand the law of sowing and reaping which resonates in nature. Its not only in financial terms. Mercy, grace and favor often outweigh physical cash. In our culture, giving is considered necessary to maintain balance in society. The poor and underprivileged have to be looked after. Giving to charity is essential. May God grant us wisdom and the spirit of discernment. |
We obviously can't remove airports and schools etc to reestablish cattle routes. Development will continue to take over the bushes that exist now as the population increases. Farmers produce what we eat. Meat really is added value for majority of our people. Destroying their farms by grazing exposes them to extreme poverty just so that meat is provided for those who can afford it. Whichever way we look at it, ranching is the way to go. It may take a while but it's the only way to avert social disorder and to grow the cattle business very well. Ranched cows produce much more milk and more nutritious beef. I wonder why the cattle farmers can't come together to develop their business like the poultry farmers who are doing so well without relying on the government. |
Reference:You made a point. However many churches need to wake up to their responsiblities. The old churches still have mission outreach programmes, hospitals/clinics, widow and orphan support, youth empowerment, prison and hospital ministries, children rehabilitatation ministry, elders forum and schools. These are all funded by the church from tithes, offerings and dedicated donations. Proper accounts are rendered annually to the whole church and questions raised are addressed. If other churches toe this path, there'll be less outcry against the church. No one can bring down the church anyway, except God so desires. |
There's no need for this back and forth arguments. Anyone who feels spiritually inclined to pay should do so. Those who don't are also free to do as they wish. Some would rather give to charity, widows, orphans etc. No pastor/priest forces anyone to pay even if they emphasize the need to do so. I think it's more important to know what is being done with the tithe. In most orthodox Churches, the annual reports show details of income and expenses. In fact what is collected weekly is reflected in the Sunday bulletin. It's easy to know if there's misappropriation of funds. The excessive display of wealth by some Pentecostal pastors seems to be at the root of this media war. With the level of poverty today, people may feel aggrieved but God is the ultimate judge. He never fails. |
aolawale025:I think it's because she's due for trial in the UK where there's more confidence in the justice system. She can come back home later for the cases here. |
WORLDPEACE:You may be right. Calculated moves really. |
seunmsg:We rarely have intelligent discussions on serious issues on Nairaland these days. Sadly it shows lack of exposure/knowledge and understanding of critical issues. This matter requires tact and quick intervention otherwise we're all losers in Nigeria whichever side of the divide. That of course is for those who understand international relations and world politics. |
ibabz:N1.73b monthly to service N147b debt? If this is true, there's trouble ahead if there's no drastic increase in inflows. |
I really wonder why so much negative attention is being paid to Dr Adeboye and RCCG lately. We're all free to worship as we wish as long as we don't disturb others. Spiritual matters are difficult to rationalise. What works for me may not work for others. I'm not a member and I know no one is forcing any other to join. No one has reported any fraudulent transaction or criminal matter that requires attention. I think we should just mind our business on issues like this. |
The Church does a lot for society without making so much noise. I'm active in a Ministry that has done a lot for the less privileged with the support of the Church. Most Churches that are well set up take care of widows, orphans and the poor as required of Christians and as stated in the Bible. They also have Hospital and Prison ministries to assist the sick (free in some Churches) and prisoners (especially to assist those wrongly convicted or wrongly accused and awaiting trial ). There are business and empowerment groups to train and mentor those who require training and scholarships to deserving people. The reality is that givers never lack. Debates are unecessary as its a private matter between you and God and based on your understanding of the scriptures and life in general. Do what you need to do and leave the Pastor/Vicar to God to judge. Do your best and leave the rest! |
I still don't understand why these people are being killed and why their leader is still in detention. |
whateverkay:She's a minor at 13. Her parents consent is required. |
damariox:Yes but religious extremism of any type makes it worse. |
I think some of these alleged suicides should be investigated. It's possible that murderers are using this method to carry out their nefarious activities. |
oluwakekz:This is sad and unfair. Anyone who knows a management staff in Nestle should inform him/her. This is inhuman and not good for their image. |
Wonderful! One of the best companies to invest in. |
Is this not Sule Lamido who is on trial with his two sons for corruption? He's now a critic of corruption abi. He should face his case, let's know the outcome. Anyway, on the day an elephant dies you see all kinds of knives! (Orisirisi obe laari lojo iku erin.) GMB created room for this to happen. |
noalistic:Davidos grandmother was an Igbo woman. He has Igbo cousins. He has no reason to be tribalistic. Perhaps he wasn't Tagbos friend. Chime was clearly Olus friend according to Chime's family account and not necessarily Davidos friend. |
Some traders at Gold Souk, Deira speak Yoruba quite well mostly for business purposes. They learnt from Yoruba traders. They're quite familiar with the major Nigerian tribes hence they ask if you're from Lagos, PH, Abuja etc |
I saw some of the schools in Oshogbo and Ife. Beautiful structures indeed. Sadly it hasn't translated to better performance in NECO and WAEC exams. The reality is that you need well trained/rewarded, happy teachers and focused students to achieve any meaningful result. The walls and fittings alone will not produce successful students. A look at Osun SSCE results in the last few years confirms this. |
SalamRushdie:Really? I'm surprised. From what I've read before, i thought they were two diligent and focused guys who got noticed by those in power and were thus blessed. I keep praying for good mentors among the younger generation else the future is a disaster in the making. Life is not about power, money, fame that is earned through crooked means. |
2n2k:You're right (I know that's the procedure) but the Head of Service may have been bypassed. Crooked people have their ways. If HOS saw it, she can't deny cos there'll be records for it. |
I feel so sad seeing the young boy tied up like that. The heart of man is indeed so terribly wicked. I hope that some relevant NGOs will intervene. I also pray that justice is adequately served. |

The igbo governors should also follow this path. Too many incompetent teachers in igbo land and it's affecting their academic output. The reason why their students fail waec and neco every year. Most teachers in the east cannot speak good English let alone impact knowledge. The east has the highest number of illiterates in the country after the core north. Yorubas remain the pride of Nigeria when it comes to education. No wonder ekiti state has the highest number of professors in the country
