Many dont understand the games of politicians and civil servants. You need experience in government circle/civil service to understand some of these things. She was simply naive{irrespective of age) and the smart ones taught her a new lesson in administration. Being an outstanding professional does not necessarily make you a wise administrator who can avoid pitfalls and deflect tough shots. |
I hope its not true ![]() |
carzola: This is the more reason i choose to sit home on sundays.. Christianity is a disgrace to religious bodies.. Christianity is now a scam and a recist religion.. In a nutshell i'd rather be an occult member than be a christain..Please go to a regular ( old school) church at least. You can also listen to "pastor' Freeze on Cool FM every Sunday morning. Very interesting sermons really. |
Silly woman! Idle journalist!! |
The pyrates of old were not violent. I remember that they were not so secretive in my early years in the university. They helped with security during convocation ceremony and had a 'converge' in broad daylight at the sports centre. Those who cared also saw them 'sailing' on the well lit campus roads at night and crossing ' swords' at weddings of their members. The later day confraternities came up with violence and the pyrates ceased to exist on campuses. BTW Soyinka started Road Safety corps in Oyo state which was quite effective and efficient in service delivery. It later metamorphorsized into todays FRSC. |
The Gatwick airoort in the UK is being managed by a Nigerian - Ogunlesi. |
Lagos, Sokoto and now Benin/Abuja all within one week! Lord have mercy!! |
Thank God for their lives. Its no reason to drop out though i wish the government will find a way to secure schools. 16 years old Malala of Pakistan has defied the Taliban by campaigning for education for young muslims against all odds. She is also lucky to have survived a terrible attack but they couldnt subdue her spirit. |
Same thing people have been saying about him. So sad his son died too. God knows best. May his soul rest in peace. Amen. |
emiye: . You will have to prove that the new schools do not have labs/equipments, or teachers in the old schools have been sacked or they resigned enmasse as such the new schools do not have enough teachers/assistants. I attended a public secondary school , and in my time the school population was over 4,000 and we were over 1800 in senior secondary school, and we had labs and equipmentsThe dropouts i referred to are not Osun students. In fact they are already adults and left school early because their parents could barely feed them not to talk of extras such as transport fare and uniforms. Comrade has solved the uniform issue even if i dont like the idea of having only one type/colour. I just hope the misery of dropping out will not befall anyone in the state. BTW i am entitled to my opinion and i really do wish to see Osun make progress. |
2000 students wearing the same uniform at that Okefia school (i know the place) makes me wonder. Are there enough labs/equipment and teachers/assistants to handle this large number of young students? I know that merging of schools is a big issue for the poor. I'm aware of people who dropped out of school because their parents could not afford the cost of transportation. Is he providing free school buses? IMO the mega school is not fantastic in design. Its just like the old big public schools in Lagos. The Rivers State mega schools are more modern, child friendly and probably better equipped. Too much hype on what is happening in Osun by Lagos based indigenes really. Many residents complain about this. Comrade Aregbe should get real before its too late. I have nothing personal against him. Just a wish that he succeeds. He needs to dump the sychophants and listen to/ analyse alternative opinions before he ends up like Chief Akande. |
Has the governor of her state of origin been contacted? Obviously, Bayelsa and NYSC have no plans for her. |
May their souls rest in peace. Their killers are indeed heartless. |
This is disgraceful. Neither Bayelsa govt nor NYSC has been able to do anything! May God heal her thoroughly. Account No please , so some of us can chip in our widows mite. Tiny drops of water make the ocean. The phone idea is not the best. How about NL charity team? |
Graduates who want to avoid being unemployed or labelled as unemployable should learn new skills. The degree is just a basic certificate on which you can build and excel in your chosen field. Wise ones are going to vocational schools for training or going into apprenticeship. Occasionally, some companies recruit from the recognized ones. Look out for adverts on training programs especially in the oil sector. The problem is that most graduates will see such as being for artisans alone. Fact is, sometimes employers appreciate the acquisition of new skills apart from the certificate which thousands equally possess. Also note that most laid off bankers find it difficult to get new jobs at good entry levels. Reason? Most do monotonous jobs which live little room for varied experience and they never have the time to learn new skills. Every employer wants someone who can make his job easier. Be unique/a professional, have something distinct to offer to make your job search easier or strive to start something on your own like the Teacher/Farmer. Beautiful combination! |
A good muslim and a hero indeed. May God protect him and family always. Amen. |
Why must this school be closed down really? He should consider the fact that some parents can only send their children to school only if the school is close by cos they can't afford transport fare. Generally I don't like Ogbenis education policy apart from the free meal which is commendable even if Oyinlola did the same thing. |
Good idea if the project will be completed. I still wonder why Ogbeni is merging schools and closing down a very old and popular school just to create space for shoprite ( according to some people). Not such a wise decision especially with this new angle of "mall terrorism". |
Amazing if true! |
NOUN won the national moot court compulsory for all nigerian universities ( I was told). The open university is doing well afterall. |
koastar: The security men following him around is understandable. The boy needs close monitoring until it is proven beyond doubt that he does not pose any security threat. Who knows, a terrorist group might be responsible for his actions asking him to do that stunt just to see the security lapses in our airport. They might want to get a feedback from him so that they will know how to strike making use of such security lapses.Good line of reasoning. Its also wise to keep him away from his greedy and lazy dad. I feel sorry for his mum though. I can imagine her agony. All said and done, its the best option for now. Its not about celebrating him, he has to be safe and focused on his education to avoid his getting frustrated again. |
This post may seem far fetched but i know it has an element of truth. It reminds me of a man whose maternal family in the Northwest came down south to meet him and then took him to the North to acquaint him with his late mothers family. His dad was an Oyo man who impregnated his hausa mum and later took his son down south. He got to know his life history at over 25 years of age! He had northern features and was told that he has a striking resemblance to his mums family members. Also I had a few colleagues who were northerners but traced their maternal/paternal roots to Yorubaland. Its a wonderful world! God help us live above tribalism. |
I miss you so much dad. A wonderful father indeed. Rest in perfect peace. As you usually sang, it is well with your soul! |
I wish most rich women can be as humble, generous and easy going as Folorunsho Alakija. |
Everyone should read 'Play safe- avoid oral cancer' in todays Punch newspaper. Ladies especially and guys who care about their wives, girlfriends and sisters. |
Spent four and a half hours on this lousy road last week. Most of the time was spent between Mowe and Ibafo all because of the big potholes and probably heavy traffic. (No camp meeting BTW) I wonder how 3 lanes will solve the problem on the Sagamu-Lagos axis. Vehicles formed 4-5 lanes in most places along the road. |
Tuition fees will be introduced someday if we must have universities that will compete favorably with world class institutions. What should be the focus is how to reinstate the scholarships/bursaries of the past which many of us benefitted from. Most state govts gave bursaries to their students in the late 70s and 80s. It was enough to cover feeding, accomodation and books for a session. If the burden became too much at a point in time, they should have given preference to indigent students at least. Anyway a small amount payable per semester should suffice considering the large population in public universities. For instance, 10000 from 15000 students will generate 150m. |
An understanding and patient fiancee can make things happen. It depends on her relationship with the family, her earning capacity (full time housewife is a no-no in this situation) and the ability of the man to convince his mum. The reality is that you cant have peace if your mum and siblings are not assisted one way or the other. |
Now that the only stubborn LG (Offa) has been 'captured' only God knows when the people of kwara will be delivered from the Sarakis. |
Watch NTA news. They usually show part of it. |
Chris710: Tell them. It makes me sick when I see their end time comment on almost every thread. It's rather immature. Please end the end time thingz.Too many kids on NL. Its a free world though, simply ignore what you find nauseating. |
