Politics / Re: Many Yoruba In Lagos Are Now Moving To Ogun State And Ibadan by honeyB2018: 5:39pm On Mar 27, 2023
SpartaOfLagos:
So many yorubas that used to live in Lagos are now moving to Ogun state and Ibadan because they got broke and sold there houses and lands to Igbos and didn't plan well with the money so they became broke and moved to Ogun state , Ibadan and Ondo states.

The Igbos are buying up everywhere in Lagos and with the way things are going in this Lagos, Igbo man will be governor of Lagos someday because the yorubas are leaving Lagos in large numbers everyday because they could not compete with the young money bags of Igbo origin .

If you're a Yoruba man or woman in Lagos , ask yourself that how many Yoruba are living in posh areas and could pay rent comfortably in this Lagos ?

Yorubas are selling up there lands to the igbos and moving out of Lagos permanently to Ogun state and Ibadan .

Some of you, sometimes wake up to post nonsense, because data is now cheap.
What Sense does this post make?
Are the IGBOS the only tribe in Lagos State, buying up properties?
Go to Agege, Idi- Araba, Ilemba in Ajangbadi, Okokomaiko, Alaba Arago and see lands bought up by the Hausa/ Fulani in Lagos State.
Someone has his property, and has need for money and sold it, you are now blaming the seller and the buyer.
When the seller had financial needs, why were you not there, to help him?
Was a gun put at any Yoruba man's neck to sell the land?
Your post is senseless.

Politics / Re: Why Do Igbos Reject Restructuring Back To Regionalism by honeyB2018: 5:21pm On Mar 27, 2023
APCHaram:
Among peoples of the south, the Igbo remain the only people to be silent on the quest to return to true fiscal federalism.

So why are the Igbos refusing to consider restructuring but rather bent on Biafraism?

Ask them this simple question and you will see the fallacy of Biafra unfold.

And you think you have made any reasonable point here?
So sorry for you.

Fact remains that the Igbo can not survive either under true federalism or as an independent Igbo nation.

It is for these two reasons they are both one Nigerianists under a powerful centrist govt or a Biafran state with annexed territory far removed from the present 5 Igbo states.

We must not forget that the reasons for both the Igbo coup of Jan 15 was to avert the creation of the Calabar-Ogoja-Rivers region out of the old Eastern republic.

When Gowon created states and delianated the Igbo regions from that of the so-called minority parts of the Eastern regions, Igbos demanded to a return to regionalism even though they all supported Ironsi's unification decree 34 that saw to an end of regional governance.

When Gowon refused to bulge, the Igbos decided on their own to leave Nigeria dragging the minority regions with them.

So you see, Igbos will either support the status quo to continue or a return to their foolish annexation ploy in the form of Biafraism.

Do not be fooled. Igbos will never support restructuring and will violently oppose nigeria's breakup when it is obvious they will be left to their own design.

Incase you're igbo and you didn't get the message earlier, the message is this:

When it comes to local politics, it's local within indigenes of every states. Whatever happens in Anambra politics is within Anambra people, same with Lagos, Delta, PH, Kaduna Etc..

But the constitution of Nigeria,is bigger than what your small sense can carry. It gives all Nigerians the right to live anywhere of their choice, vote and be voted for.
What you do, is to allow everyone to vote and let the majority have their way as the minority will have their say
What is causing this bruhaha now not allowing people to vote, even their own Yorubas.
We have seen elections in Lagos State, their has been no time citizens were restricted from voting like 2019-2023. In 2019, here in Lagos State,I saw people being chased out of pulling stations, party agents driven from their bits, all in this Lagos State, which I have never seen anywhere else.

I'm not in the position to advise the IGBOS which by nature I'm one of them, I would have told them to forget about all this Brit bats and plan for the 16, after power has gone to both SW and North. These kind of tantrum going on between the IGBOS and Yorubas are what the North wants and promotes.

Please, can someone tell me why in 2003,O.P.C, under Gani Adams and Late Dr Frederick Faseun, fought against the Hausa/Fulani community in Lagos State, when Tinubu was the governor?
Can you also explain the cause of the fracas between the Yorubas and the North in Shagamu? At Mile12, constantly, the two tribes have always fought, what is the cause?
I have been asking this questions for long, no one seems to be answering me.
Was it for political, religious, economic, martial reason or out of fear of intimidation.?
It's important, we know this, to determine the cause of the present acrimony and bad blood between the Yorubas and the IGBOS.
A bad work man always quarell with his tools.
One takeaway from FFF's 8points lesson, was the agreed alliance between the North and South West. I saw this coming, reflecting on a video that was alleged to have come from Shettima and Ibukunle Amosu's chat after Buhari became the president in 2015, where Shetmma, was alleged to have said, a commission will be set up, between the North and the South West, and the IGBOS, will be driven away to drink their oil. I wish someone, will recirculate that video again
For their alliance, I wish them the best.
Let it said loud and clear, that the IGBOS, can never and will never be intimidated by any force under the heavens. It's only God that determines the destiny of man, not man.
Even if Tinubu is sworn in today as president, his tenure ends after 8yrs and another takes over.
Who knows the regime, that will come after them.
God ruleth in the Kingdom of men and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

This shouldn't be an issue. Yorubas, should get to Badagry, Epe or Ikorodu, where they're virgin lands, start up a market there, become the head, BabL Loja etc.
Alaba, completely was the entire buld of, of the Igbo. I know how that place was before, the Yorubas, were their, no one stopped them.

Having made their petition to the appropriate authority, I believe that the duo of Obi and Datti, should wait for the outcome of the petition. Granting interviews here and there, while the matter is before the tribunal, to me is not the best.
I don't know how many interviews Atiku and Okowa have granted the press, after the election. I'm made to understand, that about 4 other parties also brought petitions before the tribunal, but you don't hear them make noise about it like Obi and Datti is making.

Lagos does not only use generators for street light but also solar . In fact most recently installed street lights are all solar .

This argument is unnecessary. What is important now, is that every state, has been given the opportunity to generate and power their areas of influence. Lagos State, has kick- started theirs, therefore let others follow suit. This is what we want now.

Politics / Re: Don't Forget Your Promises To Northerners, Arewa Group Tells Tinubu, Sanwo-olu by honeyB2018: 3:51pm On Mar 22, 2023
Newsextra014:

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has revealed that there was an understanding with the northerners that made them vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the just concluded presidential and governorship elections.

AYCF urged the duo not to renege in their promises to the north and those of northern extractions living in Lagos as the latter had fulfilled their parts by ensuring the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement personally signed by Alhaji Yerima Shettima, National President of the AYCF, the group congratulated Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu over their victories just as it commended the leaders of the Arewa community in Lagos for the roles they played during the elections.

"We have seen how much self-sacrifice was made by Arewa community in Lagos led by the Sarkin Hausawan Lagos, Alhaji (Dr) Aminu Yaro Dogara, along with Sarkin Fulanin Lagos, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Abubakar Bambado, during the presidential elections.

"It is gratifying to note that the contribution of voters of the Arewa community in Lagos has helped greatly in securing the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is even more gratifying that the Arewa community helped to secure Asiwaju's victory voluntarily, without requesting a dime from the presidential candidate.

"We are compelled to openly express our happiness over the volunteerism and self-sacrifice of the Arewa community led by both Sarkin Hausawa and Sarkin Fulani monarchs, including their kith and kins in the 19 states of Northern Nigeria, in the election that produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria's democratically-elected leader.

"We feel duty bound, therefore, to follow-up on the promise made by President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu to all northerners, to redeem his beautiful promise of protecting their image, integrity and safety, including the Arewa Community in Lagos. We believe this will further strengthen their faith in the capacity of the President-elect to deliver on his mandate.

"Most importantly, promise is a debt, and we believe the President-elect and the incumbent governor (whose mandate has just been renewed) are well aware of this truism.

"We hope they will live up to expectations as soon as possible, especially for a voting population that did not collect a single Kobo before casting their votes for the both the President-elect and the Governor," the statement said adding that the Arewa community in Lagos considers Tinubu a "big brother and son of our late leader and Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Dogara Yaro, whom he fondly called Baba."

Alhaji Yerima Shettima
National President, AYCF.

This is wonderful. Protect our image, integrity and safety. I can understand.
Ok, so those outside this Arewa group should be ready for anything. Ah Ah Yoruba, I pity you

No woman likes a clingy, insecure man. But that is what we yorubas are becoming, a frightened, insecure and second rate nation. So fearful that we cant even accept one of our own because his mother is ibo. There was a time when the word swagger was synonymous with the yoruba. Reflecting self assurance and confidence. We exuded belief. The ibos secretly admired us. They adopted our clothes and music. They flocked to our churches.

We accommodated strangers because we were so sure of ourselves, of our standing in the world, our stature, our swag that we knew our guests were not a threat. Now all that has drained away. We are now like the insecure man who marries a pretty woman and secretly consumed by self doubt, fearing he is not good enough for her tracks her every movement, obsessively going through her phone, hates her male colleagues because he is petrified she will leave him for someone better. Is this how low we have fallen that we now fear those we once used to regard as culturally inferior to us, we once said the ibos could not dance, could not dress, lacked poise and polish, were not as read as us, now we work ourselves into a frenzy about them taking over a yoruba city hundreds of miles from the nearest hamlet in the south east.

One of the greatest ever yoruba leaders Adekunle Fajuyi once gave his life rather than live with the dishonour of handing over his ibo guest to those who wanted to murder him. We now compete with each others to denounce our ibo guests whose only crime is trading and living in our midst, ideologically handing them bound and foot to the caliphate who hate and distrust us as much as they hate and distrust them

We look for wild statements of a few ibos to justify our fear of all of them in doing so demonstrating not our courage, but our fear, our insecurity, our deep rooted inferiority complex towards a tribe who have outmatched us and outpaced us.

A tribe who rose from the ruins of a war in which they lost 10% of their population but refused to break, to wallow in self pity, to feel sorry for themselves, did not fear those who beseiged their land, but went forth and conquered with commerce those who had conquered their land with bombs. They bought our property while we frittered the proceeds on women and easy living, then having wasted our inheritance blame those with greater foresight and discipline of taking over land we freely sold to them They take care of their relatives, training them in the family trade while we turn ours to househelps and drivers. They pool their resources together while ours is used to tear our families apart. They build businesses, we chase every lowly special adviser looking for government contracts. They have learnt to thrive when marginalised meaning even excluded fron government largesse they still have a lower level of poverty than we do.

It shows in sports. In the 1980's the national football team was split down the middle between ibos and yorubas, with the yorubas dominating the more glamorous and creative roles. For every Okala, there was an Odegbami, evet Chukwu a Muda Lawal, every Stanley Okonkwo a Fekix Owolabi. But since the 90s and noughties, the roll of honour in our national game has been claimed by the ibos. Who have the yorubas produced to match the profile and performances of Jay Jay Okocha, Emmanuel Amuneke, Kanu Nwankwo, Mikel Obi, Vincent Onyeama. When ability, fortitude, resilience, drive and determination is needed we see the ibos. But when patronage, easy living and dissolute lifestyles are on show enter the yorubas.

We cant even plan coups properly. The most incompetent coup ever planned in Nigerian history was the one plotted by yoruba officers in beer parlours over pepper soup and big stout against Abacha leading to its most senior officer grovelling before the dictator pleading for his misteable life. The coup before that planned by ibo and delta officers - the Orkar putsch in 1990 saw the prime movers defiant to the bitter end, facing death with honour.

How did we end up here? 25 years of flirting with power at the centre, of living off and chasing unearned income, of prostrating before the caliphate has turned us to feudal retainers. Men who have lost their manhood. We are cowed into silence when state sponsored gangs rampage across our lands raping our women, burning our farms, slaughtering our yourh. The few who find the courage to fight back we disown, we call them ruffians. When our yourhs protest against injustice as they did during the endsars we attribute it fittingly to an ibo plot. And why not seeing the qualities needed to organise a protest so well executed it captured the international air waves for days required courage, initiative and drive. Qualities we are now so enfeebled, so morally vacous we happily agree belong to the ibos.

A fish rots from the head. Our legacy was built by giants like Fajuyi, Awolowo and to a lesser extent Abiola. Men who gave their freedom and their lives rather than surrender their principles. But what have we now? Bola Tinubu who keeps quiet when millions of ibos are put at risk in his city by vicious tribal bigotry and baiting because of his lust for power. Bola Tinubu who buried his head when his own people were being gunned down in churches in their own land by gun men under the protection of his fulani bosses. In the halycon days of the founder of the modern yoruba race the closest Bola Ahmed Tinubu would have got to power would have been organising security at UPN party conferences. Today he is the acknowledged leader of the yoruba race.

We have these last few weeks of eternal shame revealed our weakness, our insecurity, the spiritual barrenness that now lies like a void at the centre of our world. We fear a yoruba man because he has an ibo mother! Thats how supine, how fearful we have become. We forget the yorubas killed in their hundreds last year by state protected fulani gunmen because we are desperate to be awarded office by those who defile our women and pillage our land. Principle counts for nothing. We are up for sale and not for very much. This is how far we have fallen. We have won an election but lost our soul, we are in office but not in power. We are now pound land, okrika wake version of the northern elite who inspite of their monopoly of power at the centre havrle feared the commercial acumen and success of the ibo fir 5 decades so much they turned on them whenever they felt threatened by their own inadequacies as we have done the last few weeks.

We are now a pale imitation of the , a frightened, insecure, tremulous and second rate nation clinging like leeches to power se seek at any cost because we have nothing else to offer.. The ibos have not held power for 60 years and thrived. We have just won it for the 3rd time in the same period and still like the fulani fear them. This is how low a once great people have fallen.

We Don't Have Any Space For Bigotry Or Ethnic Coloration In Our System - Sanwo-Olu

Mr Governor, with all due respect,I want to say your statement, doesn't reflect what your office is.
You saw Oluomo display his acts in the elections, you saw other shenanigans in the past, you said nothing.
Only for you to spill this, after you have won. Mr Governor, this is not right The posterity will judge everyone. The seed that was sown in Lagos State, under your reign as governor in this election, will be inherited by generations unborn, including some who may be close to you. For what a man sows he reap.
During the reign of Tinubu, Fashola and Amode, there were oppositions, yet they won, never in their time was there anything like ethnic profiling, never in their time, were people stopped from voting because of the tribe, but the election that gave you, your second term, was a sham. It will stick with you.
You may have won the battle, but the war has not been one. Sir, I believe that you could have won this election fair and square, even in the midst of the opposition, if you had lived up to expectations, if you have made this comment before the election, but it never came. You are not a bad man, neither are you a bad governor, but this stain, has rubbished all the goodwill.
Stop talking to us as we are kids

Its more like.

For you to pass WAEC, you must pass 5 subjects, and English language.

For you to win Presidential Election, you must have 25% in 24 states, and FCT.

The say that FCT is a state, is English not a subject??

The Supreme Court, have ruled on this matter before, stating that a candidate must have 2/3 of 36 states, including FCT.
But my worry is that I don't trust our judiciary system. Period

We are impatiently waiting for them.

This exactly what will throw this country into and avoidable Flow of blood.

If they dare to overlook the Constitution of FCT 25%.

We are patiently waiting for the court, the tension don over mature.

Na spark we dey wait for.

On behalf of other peace loving Nigerians, I reject and cancel that your expectations in Jesus name. The courts will make their pronouncements and go, just like they have done in the past, the nation will move on, the winner will celebrate, while the loser, will go home licking his wounds till the next 4yrs.
We want peace. Peace is priceless. You may not understand
Politics / Re: APC Clinches 38 Out Of 40 Lagos Assembly Seats. Oshafile, Fashina Win 2 For LP by honeyB2018: 9:07am On Mar 22, 2023

The first election was better than the second...

It was the fear of the first election that brought out the stupidity of APC and their supporters. If Tinubu could lose his base in the first election, they knew that Sanwo-Olu was a goner. If it was free and fair, APC, like Matawale, would have been licking their dust by now.

Congratulations Lagos. LP is now officially a dying party.

Oshafile and Fashina will decamp to APC eventually by the time LP fizzles out.
38 out of 40 for APC is loud gan. Even Ago still fell into the laps of APC

You need some level of mind resetting. With all the shenanigans that took place in Lagos,as election, LP, was able to win 2 seats, think of what would have happened,if the election was free and fair.

I believe what I wrote up there is self explanatory enough.
I wasn't saying I didn't believe you, of course I knew all you wrote before now.
My point is that you would rather keep quiet when your kith and kin here on nairaland say exact opposite of all that you wrote than tell the truth.

As per the last question, I meant I am married to an Igbo man, sixteen years down the line now and that I have met couples like us over the years too.

I only said that to buttress the fact that what you wrote isn't new only that your people here are always saying otherwise.
Look, writing isn't really my forte, I don't know how else to explain my point clearer than this.
Understood now better.
