Then, a guy from a single mum especially if he was an only child was like a plague for me. I remember a wedding planner I met that said she had to break up with a guy like that. His mum would call her everyday and ask if they have spoken that day and ask what they spoke about. The woman even told her that she had gone "somewhere" and no one can come between her and her son that she suffered alone for. The babe just moved on because she foresaw trouble that she wasn't ready to put up with. |

Orbot012: I have been seeing this lady for a while now and recently she is gotten really very stubborn
She challenges me whenever I asks her to assist me in doing come chores in the house saying that I haven't paid her bride price etc. But she won't hesitate to make minor financial demands from me. She's usually clued to her phone when she is with me and won't allow me check it. The way she even talks to me na wahala, sometimes I feel using a good slap to reset her brain but have to control myself. I don already reduce my attention towards her bcus of her attitude.
The last time I got physical with a girl due to disrespect was years ago and I regretted it, the girl shock how I take handle her.
Why do ladies take calm, nice & gentle guys for granted but would willingly submit to men who hit and abuse them over little misbehavior?
Is it right to sometimes use a slap to correct a girl whenever evil spirit (sarcasm) enters her head and she begin to misbehave and act out of place. Maybe because calm and nice guys tend to go for their opposite... rude, temperamental and hot headed ones |

hahn: There are also myths attached to it and some believe if you put your baby in a carrier it won't be intelligent. Someone once said this and became dumbfounded when I asked her since majority of Europeans don't back their kids does that make them dumb?
They are just jobless Lol... meanwhile the whites are more creative and inventive than the blacks and they don't back.. |
Family › Re: Backing Baby Vs Baby Carrier by ImaIma1(op): 1:04pm On Feb 22, 2019 |
hahn: When my wife had our son we were a bit at a conflict of how to carry him.
From our experience I'd say both are okay.
The carrier is more comfortable for the baby and it is easier for the mother to watch and even breast feed him/her. Also when you are on a bike or in a car it is very comfortable as well.
I read somewhere online that backing a baby reduces rick of them having back pain. My son hates backing by the way.
As far as those old women and people who are allergic to minding their own business. Just ignore them. After all they are not paying any of your bills It's just that they believe the way they do it is the better way and every other way is inferior. That is why they find it hard to mind their business |
Family › Re: Backing Baby Vs Baby Carrier by ImaIma1(op): 6:28am On Feb 22, 2019 |
Eroms4life17: My sister it's not about old way. It's about what's best for the child. Nobody should make a woman who backs her child to be shamed. I know how I feel when my mum tells me she backed me. It humbles me even it now. Don't wonder too much why some kids these days don't have have that telepathic connection with their parents. It's because of things like this which people commonize. But in the real sense, they matter. My conclusion is that if you want to use carrier, go ahead but do not shame those who back their babies. If you back your baby, you are more of a mother than those who don't! You can take that to the bank! That is the point. You are saying those who back should not be shamed but you are doing same to those who use carriers. How are people who back more mothers? Because they carry the babies on their back? Come on!! Children are not close to their mums because they back them but because of the overall care they give them. Please don't make such unverified conclusions. My neighbor for instance backs her baby but could drop her baby in the crèche till 7pm even if she is home and just watching series. Someone once said that aside the fact that the neighbour is the mother, she doesn't see any chemistry or connection between her and the baby. She can leave the baby all night with the crèche owner while she is out. And you will tell me that someone like that is a better mother just because she backs the baby. Please don't insult us. Mothering has gone past backing or holding on to old or local ways to make you acceptable. It is much more than that. |

Eroms4life17: Having read the comments above, those that support carriers have not come up with any tangible reason why carrier is better than backing. It tells you the kind of mothers we have these days; self centered, egoistic and not willing to accept corrections. Look at the faces of a child who is backed and those that use carrier. The backed babies look more comfortable. It helps bond mother and child easily. When the child is overactive, u put the hands inside the wrapper. Your baby makes sound, u respond, u are balanced and so is the baby. The baby backing can be improved upon cos of the era we are in. God help our modern mothers these days. Some don't want to breast feed their baby, now backing, etc and u want that child to listen when he or she grows up? Naaaaa! If you are talking about bonding, having the baby in front does that better. I can kiss my baby and hug her while she is in front. I respond to her better when she makes any noise. About tangible reasons, you already mentioned one which is bonding. Bonding is better with your baby in front where he or she can even see your face. You can play with them. For security purposes...you can see your baby at everytime and be sure that no one is tampering with him or her. Warmth...the baby nestles and rests on your chest and you can pat him/her at will. The baby is comfortable and usually sleeps easily in it. From the baby's face, you can see the comfort and love he or she feels. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good with a carrier as a mother as long as baby is comfortable. Backing doesn't make a good mother. Breastfeeding is backed by World Health Organisation, not backing. Both of them are not of the same importance. But you are funny o...so it's breastfeeding and backing that makes a child listen? |

Codedone: Which one is upgrade again? cant u read all d corrections people have addressed u with? because a method is local doesn't make it lesser or unsophisticated, they are both good in different situations. Hmmmmm... you sound like you are taking it personally. Do I need to explain what upgrade means? Just like "people" pointed out, we moved from using washable nappies to using disposable diapers. I haven't even said backing is bad. This is somewhat of a debate between 2 methods. So calm down. |

ladyamabel: Well said my dear. my 2 kids were carried with carrier and once i carry them, they go to sleep like babies that they are... Then, anytime I just dressed up and picked up the carrier, my baby would start pulling me to put her in it. Being in it was like an adventure for her...looking at everything that passed. I could kiss her over and over and hug her. I was always kissing her forehead. And she used to fall asleep so fast in it and rest her head on the milk factory...lol. I could not imagine her behind me. Besides, backing out doesn't go with anything about me...my personality, my style...even with the present age and time we are in. |

SexynSerious: you've spoken well, my sista. carrying baby in your back is the most comfortable form of taking care of your child both for mother and baby. The baby feels comfortable and relax in your back. unfortunately, our people tend to copy everything oyibo. they think it makes them sophisticated It is not about copying...it is about evolving. I am sure you are not using an android phone instead of analogue because you want to "copy everything oyibo" but because you needed to upgrade. Who says backing babies is the most comfortable method? |
Family › Re: Backing Baby Vs Baby Carrier by ImaIma1(op): 12:04am On Feb 22, 2019 |
safarigirl: i personally think it depends on what you are doing.
A carrier is good for outings, you need to be able to see your baby. It is safer, if you are getting on a bike, a carrier is more convenient. You don't need to worry about adjusting the child to jump bike or jump whatever, you don't have to worry someone will snatch your baby from the back.
If you are indoors and busy, backing the baby is more convenient. Your hands are free, you can work without obstruction. I can't be using a carrier while trying to prepare a meal, lest i risk burning the child or putting pepper in their eyes, or if i want to bend down amd wash clothes, can i bend with the baby carrier? Won't the baby fall off?
It really depends on what you are doing and where you are. Neither is better or worse, they both have their advantages and disadvantages and there is nothing wrong in knowing how to use the two. It is even better if you are an expert with both. I am actually talking more about going out. Backing the baby at home is understandable although I didn't do it much and when I tried to do it later, she always struggled to get free because she wasn't used to it. |

joyfullyjoyous: It's better to use a baby carrier than backing the baby. Over the years, civilisation has changed a lot of things. In those days reusable nappies which needed to be washed were used but now its disposable diapers. Never seen a nursing mum back her baby in developed nations. I don't understand why people upgrade and advance in other areas but still hold on to things like backing babies. If one who backs babies relocated abroad, will she still back her baby around or adapt to what is done there? I think it is a culture thing not necessarily the best for the child |

carammel: Truth is, many women that use carriers in Nigeria use it to form, like someone says "how would she bath up and now use wrapper to spoil her dressing", at the expense of your own child? Who says you can't use matching materials to put your baby on your back? The northerners have a way of backing their babies and they look so smart and beautiful. When you say "at the expense of the child", it implies that the carrier is not safe. There are two ways of carrying a child; either front or back. If I pick front because it looks nicer, the first consideration is that the child is comfortable and safe. My main issue is with people who back their babies making it seem like that is the standard or the method that has been approved by the World Health Organisation. 3G is great but 4G is better |
