Politics › Re: We Will Deliver Second Niger Bridge As Contracted, Julius Berger Assures Reps by InvertedHammer: 5:30am On Jul 18, 2020
Saifulah:
Our media houses have a long way to go

I am not a journalist but years of reading reputable articles from world renowned magazines has made me expect some level of structure in an article.

For example the title of the article chosen by the author himself begs for answers, yet nowhere in the article did he answer it (Title: JB promise to deliver as contracted), any sophisticated reader will expect to find the details of the contract delivery date mentioned.

The article rather gives the impression it is more interested in painting the picture of how the "comported" MD of JB gave a "respectfully but emphatic" response.

It seems some people’s minds have been opened by the effects of the COVID19. They got to realize that many things being preached in church aren’t real, and understand that nothing will happen if one stays at home on Sunday.

Two classes of fools that are irredeemably incurable:
1. A woman in love
2. A Nigerian under the influence of a pastor.

You that is running to give your money to a pastor instead of helping your neighbours: Imagine if those that did giveaways and palliatives chose to give the money to a criminal like Oyedepo. Why do Nigerians equate financial success to divine favour? If that's the case, then Hushpuppi is God's chosen son for the successful heist.

Only morons would pay tithe to a non-Levite and worse, a self-anointed scammer and a fictitious miracle peddler at that.

binghamm:
Currently talking on and off to three Nigerian girls all less than 30.

First one:
Tax lawyer in a foreign country. Quite accomplished. Doesn't want children. Open to cohabitation.
Loves me. The oldest of the three

Second one.
Engineer with top 3 oil multinational. Wants children. Loves me. Wants to get married asap.
Highly driven and ambitious. Religious. Not open to cohabitation. Least attractive

Third one.
Secretary at no-name company in Lagos. Wants children. Loves me. Still quite young. The youngest actually.
Not so driven. Seems satisfied with job role and not seeking further prospects.
Religious. Not open to cohabitation. Most attractive.

Me.
Don't care for children. May or may not want. Very late 20's. Open to cohabitation. A little religious.
Open to both cohabitation and marriage.

Who would you choose?
/
Change your heading to "Which of the Nice 3 professions should I marry?"

Politics › Re: Boko Haram: Major-General Adeniyi To Face Court-Martial by InvertedHammer: 1:44pm On Jul 17, 2020
/
Major Gen. Adeniyi is an honorable man.
But then, Nigeria kills the best and reward criminals. They are in Abuja counting billions and expect this gentleman to lead his troups to an untimely death. Most Nigerian brains are not wired for logic.

Nigeria defies logic. How can any sane person argue with a Nigerian or Nigerians based on logic? Engage the morons with pathos by starting every statement with "The Bible said". Moving on...

They may crucify him. But he is a hero who saved thousand lives from being wasted. Any southern soldier in the battlefront deserves to be fed to the vultures. Not when they know that their killers will be rewarded by the Buhari government.

/
The National Assembly sold herself so cheap to warrant the disrespect from ministers. Going to the Executive to beg for respect is mockery to their existence. They don't seem to know or understand the power they possess constitutionally. They traded their oversight functions for bags of cash and are reaping the benefits--total disregard by those who should fear them.

/
Half of the fund was what was used in developing the North. You will never see anyone from ND condemning their kleptomaniac sons and daughters.

Like I always say, you can hand out the whole oil back to ND and the whole place will still look like a slum. Their sons and daughters will do worse than their masters the Fulani. A reasonable government should ban alcohol sale in the ND. May be the indigenes would then have time for introspection.

Imagine what N81bn could do for a society if they use direct labour. Ask the nearest person from Niger Delta, s/he will tell you that Igbo people are their problem. Really? grin grin grin
The indigenes of Niger Delta do not want development. They love the sorry state of the zone so that they can use it to play victims. If contractors are sent in, they find every excuse and avenue to frustrate their work.

MimieJay:
Actually, I got to know about LASIK back in Nigeria when someone close to me had his done and for a couple of days, he couldn’t see well and it was just so uncomfortable. Although this went away and he had 20/20 after some days but… I was there. I saw how uncomfortable he was. So I decided there and then that nahh…. this can’t be me.

About a week ago, a friend of mine, here in Dubai had his done and in less than a day, he could see perfectly well. It was that fast! I got gingered and I had to consider it. As luck would have it, where he had the surgery done, they were currently running a Ramadan promo where you pay almost half the actual price. You people will say I like awoof now. But it’s actually a great deal.

If full price gets 20/20 vision, I hope half-price won't be 10/20. Get a written guarantee. No be say you like awoof afterall na you use your mouth dey judge matter.

Where are those google-trained lawyers who believe that a high profile lawyer handling a case of a nonentity can just walk through the court and FBI?

With the case transferred to Los Angeles, the billing on the retainer fee will be running like a fuel pump. Final final, Hushpuppi cannot afford to retain him and will resort to a public defender grin This initial gragra will get him no where.

Career › Re: A Police Officer Wants To Quit Over Poor Pay by InvertedHammer: 12:25pm On Jul 14, 2020
Ralpdee123:
Good morning Nlanders,

I have been considering quitting my police job to find something more productive & profitable to do with my life as a result of poor pay & lack of promotion.....

I was enlisted into the NPF since year 2009 at 21yrs, I was single then with big aspiration that someday I will move to the top echelon. While in the job, I struggled to send myself to school and bagged my first degree and through to masters level.

But one thing I have noticed is that there is no upward movement within the NPF unlike the other armed forces and some paramilitary agencies that have internal promotional policies of upgrading their personnel based on academic qualification and merit.

The first and only time this ever happened was five years ago when it was widely reported across all news platforms that the NPF was ready to promote graduates within the force to ASPs, exam was conducted, I passed and was selected to go to Abuja for final interview. It was a rough road for me as it was my first time at the FHQ, Abuja. But after like a week, the process was suspended indefinitely. That was the first time I heard the term MERIT LIST VS NATIONAL INTEREST LIST...the Senators and Reps etcs wanted to replace the list with their candidates and they disagree amongst themselves so the process was cancelled.

I must confess my family is getting larger now and the pay I get can't feed us not to talk of paying school fees. I had to double my hustle with side biz to meet up....

Even the Police academy now turn out graduates ASPs every year who are now superiors after just a few years. So what about us with requisite qualification and experience, don't we deserve to be promoted...?

It is on this note that I want to call it quit and move on...

So I need advice in this regard... Should I call it quit or still hold on a bit...cos I don tire......?

NB: For those of you that will be saying yenyenyen shocked police likes twenty Naira.... I have never received bribe from anyone throughout my 11 years in the job. I am the kind of Police Officer that you would meet on duty and would love to be a police officer.... grin

Please professionals in the house.... Flood my thread with your wealth of experience abeg....

.... Help me do the needed for a wider view.... wink

Do you want people to believe that salary is your only source of income in NPF? The income from one "good" checkpoint is more than your monthly salary. If you add income from illegal raids, detention and outright kidnapping that you guys engage in, then an oil worker cannot hold a candle where you are. The only bad omen is the eternal curse.

Their leaders are just looking for money to buy SUVs and marry more wives. They are looking for financial settlement. Give them whatever they demand outside of cash and they will refuse.
The sad reality is that if all the oil companies close down in ND, the indigenes are too lazy and drunk to know what to do with oil. They just want the usual pittance for merriment.

Was one of my saddest day in Nigeria modern politics, not cause GEJ was perfect but saw a complete set back to Old Northern military power craze mentality, if someone like Ribadu had won, would have been a massive progress...

On the positive note, it helped shaped our democracy, another big party was born.. On the overall note, it gave PDP the defeat that pushes their zeal to completely reposition the party...

As for Sowere, I believe he's smart enough to know that Buhari was a bad choice...
/
The saddest thing was that GEJ and PMB were the only major options. What we have today is exactly what a win by either one of them should be. GEJ's aloofness propped up Buhari that was roundly rejected three times by Nigerians. GEJ created a desperate time. Blame him.

Government of blackmail. They will give verbal orders and deny later. Files from 2015? Magu will have to explain why he turned blind eye on bullion vans at Bourdillon close even though "ogas at the top" were the ones that had him stand down. EFCC turned to apologizers and declared nolle prosequi on that brazen rape of common sense to the chagrin of all. I knew it was a matter of time before political expediency will grab Magu by the balls. It won't be surprising if the Presidency insisted that Tinubu must receive the bullion vans in his house on the eve of an election when the world media can capture it.

Crime › Re: FBI ‘Kidnapped” Hushpuppi From Dubai - Pissetzky, Lawyer by InvertedHammer: 8:05pm On Jul 10, 2020
/
1. Huspuppi is not a US citizen. He enjoys minimal protection under the law when in US soil.

2. If there is evidence linking him to the wire fraud, then this lawyer is chasing shadows to get more billable hours.

3. Americans are sick and tired of Nigerian scams. Hushpuppi's case happened in an election year. So he will be the sacrificial lamb.

4. Hushpuppi is a blackman in an American judicial system. Let them hope that the judge and prosecutors are not undercover MAGA merchants--they will barbeque his behind in a subtle retaliation for George Floyd protests. The only thing his lawyer can do is keep shouting "Objection!" and he will be overruled.

5. FBI is no joke.

No matter the outcome, his life will never be the same again. Trouble is easy to get into but difficult to get out of.

gimakon:
A quick question I want to ask and know hearts of peeps.

I have a badass programmer pal. Full stack engineer. Recently did a job for someone, and made some real good cash. Like up to $120,000. The money came from building software for 3 microfinance banks in the country.
He earns over 450,000 Naira as salary here in Nigeria as well. We got talking yesterday and he's telling me he cannot stay in Nigeria, that he's resigning immediately after lock down for airports are over.

His argument is 450,000 Nigerian Naira equals
1,162.97 United States Dollar, wheras in the US / Canada for instance, the salary is way higher.

Question is what do you think ?
/
He should leave Nigeria.

Experience is the best teacher.

His life, his decision.

But he should keep exchange rates out of the decision or he will live to regret it. Visiting US is different from living in US.
