I don't support injustice. I am more of a prevention-is-better-than-cure guy. You won't tell me a thief got caught and should be spared from an angry crowd. Na. If he didn't go-a-stealing, he wouldn't be in such condition.

Now that the Igbo woman was beaten for removing someone's hijab, no one in their right minds would want to try such nonsense anymore. But if she wasn't beaten, she'd repeat such act elsewhere, and maybe she'd be killed there. I am not justifying or praising those who beat her, I am just saying she brought it upon herself.

Then they tried preaching to Muslims. Assuming you didn't know their religion beforehand, that would be a different matter. But you knew their religion and still went ahead to preach to them. Telling them what?God loves them? Isn't Allah's love enough for them? I have never seen a Muslim preach to me and I think it unfair for a Christian to preach to a Muslim.
So, if you are a judge and these two cases were presented in your court, you will pass your judgement as you did above huh

There is no justification for a mob action on a Christian woman who had a fight with her muslim counterpart and her hijab was removed in the process. You didn't even know what led to the fight in the first place. What if the muslim woman was the first to attack her huh

Now, assuming that you hear tomorrow that a Yoruba muslim woman was mobbed in Enugu for removing a Christian woman's headscarf during a fight, hope you will not cry foul huh

Talking about preaching, you can't justify attacking a preacher simply because he preached to someone who already had a different believe system. All the muslim guys needed to do was to reject the preaching and turn back the preachers. It's just like you having a wife and another lady comes to ask you out and you now resort to beating the lady instead of turning down her proposal. In that case, if the lady sues you for assault, do you think the court will praise you for your action huh

See, my friend the only thing that can save Nigeria from imminent collapse is the truth, and as it stands now, many of you are not telling yourselves the truth.

HeyCorleone:
You gave 2 scenerios.

In the first one why would any sane person remove the hijab off the face of a Muslim woman?? I am a Christian, but I still see such act as something prompted by insanity. Why would someone do such a thing? The hijab is a piece of clothing for Chrissakes. Why pull it off someone?? She did it, and what was she expecting? A prize? A golden handshake? Or a honorary mention in the Guinness book of records such performing such feat?!

The second one; Why preach to a Muslim? If it were unbelievers, that would have been an entirely different kettle of fish. But these are people with their own faith, belief, and values. Why preach to them? Don't you know such thing is insulting? I feel evangelism is for lost souls...as in people without a hope or belief in something. I for one as a Catholic hate anytime I'm being approached by people from other denominations. I find such thing repulsive. I believe already so don't think of convincing me to come to your church. But these Muslims believe in something and are happy with it so why trouble them? What was your aim? Why do people take such thoughtless actions?

Oh so now you're playing the victim card? Because of rather irrational behaviour. I don't see how you're being victimized. You are just being punished for displaying a high level of stupidity. It can happen to anybody of any tribe or religion that acts stupid too.

Just saw you said you attended an event in Ikeja and the prayers were said in Arabic. So? But if it were said in the Christian way you won't have complained. What if the organisers were Muslims? So they should pray Christian prayers just to please intolerant schmucks like you? Yet you claim Nigeria is secular. I doubt if you know the meaning of secular. Smh
Is this how you pass judgement huh Smh.

So, the fact that two adult women had a fight that led to the removal of one's hijab is enough ground for a mob action on one of the women ?

In the second scenario, so preaching to someone who is a muslim is enough to cause the muslims to attack the preachers huh What happens to turning back the preachers or just walking away huh

You see why we have problems in Nigeria, because of people like you who supports injustice and impunity. Too bad !
Romance › Re: Why The Oppression On Igbos And Xtains. by Jman06(m): 5:04pm On Dec 29, 2017
My dear, that is the sad situation of things in Nigeria. Some people think that their religion is superior to others'. Our constitution stated it very clearly that Nigeria is a secular state and so the only law binding all of us is our constituted civil law, yet the muslims impose all other sorts of barbaric laws on Nigerians living in many Nigerian states in the north and even some parts of southwest. Even here on Nairaland, the Christian sections are open to everybody while you must be a muslim for you to have access to Islamic section. That's discrimination of the highest degree.

Talking about Lagos, every day the Yorubas keep bullying the Igbos who live and do business in Lagos. They call them all sorts of names and expect them to show appreciation that they live in 'their land', yet when IPOB demand for Biafra the same Yoruba people will be the first to kick against creation of Biafra. They forget that Lagos was built with money generated from different parts of Nigeria and so every Nigerian has the right to live in Lagos and any other parts of Nigeria. Besides, Igbos contribute the lion's share of Lagos state internally generate revenues.

Nigerian government is also not helping matters. They have rejected several appeals by the Igbos to build a seaport in any of the southeastern riverine areas like Onitsha or Calabar so that Igbo businesses can be relocated there in order to decongest lagos and let Yoruba people have 'their land', Nigerian government refused blatantly ! Yet they are not doing anything to protect these Igbo people living and doing business in Lagos and northern Nigeria. Allow the creation of Biafra, they have also refused ! This is why i encourage igbos to buy arms and defend themselves whereever they are in Nigeria, but they should make sure they don't attack anybody first, however, they should always stand their grounds and defend themselves when attacked.

It's an unfortunate situation we have in Nigeria. Too bad !

My brother don't you dare study Botany, the course will leave you nowhere after graduation. You may decide to take it as a temporary measure to leave home and have a taste of undergraduate life. But study for your jamb with vigor and retake the exams. If possible after your first year in botany you can apply for change of department to MBBS, make enquiries on the procedure for such. There are thousand and one great courses to prepare one for a great life after school but Botany ain't one of them. Yours sincerely studied Botany and I know the anguish my classmates and I are passing through. Look for better courses like Medical Lab sciences, Biochemistry, Radiography, Biotechnology and geology. You'll be happy you did.
Biochemistry what ?! That's like jumping from frying pan to fire.

Yours sincerely has a 2-1 in biochemistry but right now the certificate is as useless as anything useless to me.

Sometimes, i just look at the certificate and wonder what to do with it. Sha, it gave me a direct entry admission to pharmacy.

This isn't a perfect rebuttal to the other, because it focused on the sexual recklessness of women. That's understandable, knowing that women are judged more for their moral conduct, and men for their financial capability.

Some ladies don't know how bad their actions are, till they are in same position. The case of that woman who killed her husband comes to mind. She was a side chick, became the wife...the first wife left. But she couldn't bear the thought of him having another side chick. Maybe it's human nature to want to be treated better than they treat others.

That said, I am a refurbished virgin and I want a rich faithful husband. Reason being that:
Broke guys are insecure.
Broke guys are paranoid.
Broke guys can give hypertension.
Broke guys play victim a lot.
The loyalty of a broke guy can never be trusted... grin grin grin
Everybody is judged by their moral conduct and financial capabilities, not just women or men.

The OP has a very good point about the insecurity in a lot of men and all,you have a good point too,but I can relate to what the guy said about the arrogance of a lot of working class ladies(not generalizing),I and my aunt were talking about this same issue yesterday, there are a lot of assholes who call themselves men but generally speaking men feel responsible for their woman and act accordingly,a lot of women on the other part turn monsters and start disrespecting their man once they start earning much more, and I am talking about women that were once very humble and homely, its almost like wealth and power is a weakness for a lot of women, especially wen it comes to their relationships,I have seen three or so marriages of my friends parents crumble as a result of this,in my aunt's friends case she started fighting and disrespecting her husband just cos he was not payed salary for a few months, and she had to cater for the home with her small salary, this is a hard working man that paid for her schooling and even built their own house in their early marriage lol...honestly sometimes, the way a lot of women act once they are in a position of wealth and power is scary, most times their relationships suffer wen their is down.
Someone finally understood the problem. Thank you !

This is why i said in my previous post that women should stop seeing it as a big deal when they make financial contribution in their homes. It is their damn home ! Not mine ! Not another person's ! Unless they married an aszshole as a husband, he will always appreciate her for her efforts. Find a man with good character who is not a misogynist and share your life with him. You will enjoy your marriage.

I think it's time universities stopped offering students courses they never applied for ! This is the reason why many graduates are unemployed and roaming the streets. People apply to study courses they have passion for only for them to be thrown into those courses they don't like. That's very wrong ! Many of them accept the admission out of desperation only to graduate and discover that they have no job opportunities.

I think it is better for universities to advertise available courses after merit admission list has been released so that students can decide which one to choose.

Op, you may go ahead and accept the botany but make sure you prepare well and write JAMB next year. Never settle for less !

Breakups people go thru every fucvking day, even with orphans sef.

Have had to go through tough breakups even after my parents death and my ex then didn't blink an eye to breakup.

I had to go thru another breakup when I lost Only brother and the guy dating knew but he made my. Life so miserable ,just to make me break up with him in frustration. Now this one the op is saying, is about a 19years old girlfriend , at least shes still very very young. She Will pick up the pieces later, after cursing him.
My dear, such heartlessness is on both sides. Many ladies do that to guys and just for the fun.
I don't support such but reading through the posts on this thread, I can see people going emotional about the whole thing. I can see many ladies raining curses on the guy, but reverse this scenario and you will see them grow thick skin and lose all empathy.

People are terribly selfish when it comes to matters of love and relationships and the op's case is not an exception. It is even better he saves the young lady the stress of having a miserable marriage just like so many women do today. Let him break up now that the girl is still young so she can find her man on time.

Not so for the vast majority of Nigerian/NL men who insists on using Biblical quotes to claim "Head of the House". It's the hypocrisy the OP is talking about. Now you say women can take care of the bills, are you ready to babysit? Something has to substitute. As for the coloured question, females date/marry up; whether intelligent, financially independent, low class, less intelligent etc. It is nature and psychological.
Well, in my own view marriage is a partnership between two adults with the aim of working together to achieve a prosperous family. I don't believe in head and neck concept of marriage. Also, i don't sincerely believe that any chore is reserved for a particular gender. In fact, my kind of guy wouldn't mind collecting the pregnancy from my wife to carry it if at at all it will be possible, let alone babysitting.

Your last paragraph kind of boil down to what i was saying. Women like to marry up even when they are financially stable, and this is the reason why guys will continue to marry down, so tell me why the op is now complaining.Isn't it clear enough why guys would rather marry down huh

Op, please i'll advise you to find a way to break up with that girl NOW. Don't waste her time any further. You can start by avoiding her and not taking her calls etc, that way she will gradually get the message. Never marry out of pity ! This is why many married women are suffering today. Just recently we read a post here by a married lady whose husband treat like an outcast. This is how it starts !

Don't mind anybody telling go ahead when you know that you are not into that lady. Please don't listen to that, unless you know you can cope with her on the long run and not make life miserable for her in marriage.

She is still young and i am sure she will find some else who will appreciate her the way she is.

Xiadnat:
Thank you! For this expose.

This is all i have being trying to say and have being wanting to pen for long time in this forum.

This has been my experience with most Nigerian men even the ones that live Outside Africa/Nigeria.

Its the reason most of nigerian men will prefer ugly fat usually white foreigners who cater to their fragile and misplaced ego than marry a well educated good looking (Black)woman who is fierecely her own person. .

When you demand or challenge them to be better, they call you “difficult” or something similar.

Collectively, Nigerian men have misplaced ego/pride/stubborness because that same pride cannot be put to good use to better Nigeria as a country. . What it is really is low self esteem or self hatred in disguise.

Its a generational curse and stronghold that needs to be broken.

And yes! This write up extends to what i ahve observed in this forum too.

Very well said.

PS watch out tho, they are coming to burn you at stake.
The problem is that most black ladies who are financially up the ladder find it hard to come down to the level of the average guys. In fact, they treat the average guy with so much disdain that it even shows in the way they carry themselves when the guy is around them. So, the poor guy gets intimidated and runs for his dear life. Now this same guy now goes to do all whatnot to make the money, and afterwards the same lady that rejected him before would expect him to come back for her. That is not possible ! He has to look for the dependent lady who will atleast treat him like a human being.

How many ladies who are well to do can stoop to marry a struggling guy huh Only perhaps some who are already in their menopause.

Ladies need to change their mindset and understand that it must not be the man who provides for the family. Anybody who is blessed can pay the bills. Yes ! If you have that in mind, it will go a long way to improve your relationship with men because you will start paying more attention to the character of the guys you meet than their bank account. Am i implying that guys should leave financial responsibilities for their women huh No ! All i am saying is, stop giving out the impression that all you are after is a man who can carry your financial burdens even when you're already blessed. Many of you do that and it scares men away because, the man would rather settle for a poor lady who can be contented with what he has to offer than a rich one who will be difficult to satisfy with what he has.

It's your attitudes that scare men away, not really your achievements.

The fact is that what you just wrote is the way our society in this part of the world is wired. Quite a lot of men live with that mindset and even a substantial amount of women too. although as times are evolving mindsets are changing, but it is still on the low side.
That mindset needs to be changed. Women have proven to possess the ability to compete on equal scale with men in all facets of life. Infact, women play more important roles in many families and the larger society compared to some of their male counterparts.

I beg to disagree with what you said. I do make those statements like 'don't you know I am a man' and 'Why don't you act like a woman', but that doesn't make me a misogynist or whatever you call that. I have great respect and value for women, although bad experiences from past relationships made me much wiser, because just like there are terrible breed of men out there, also there very strange and terrible breed of women. Just that one has to be very cautious, look well before they leap and also God helps too.

One of the things I have discovered is that the reason why there are so many problems in relationships and marriages nowadays is that both men and women, have failed to understand the other genders well. Also bad behaviour and attitudes learned overtime and environmental influences also plays a role. And to be honest, once these factors are not addressed, going into marriage with such people, your case will be like the OPs own. There are some people you can never ever stay with, because of exhibition of the factors mentioned.
Men who make those comments are those who have been raised to believe that the male gender superior to the female. Consequently they attach to much false importance to themselves and the result is that when they marry they expect to be worshipped by their wives. It places too much burden on the woman as alot is expected of her. While the man gets away with alot of bullsh1t the woman is constantly being scrutinized for her attitude as she has to be "a woman" while the man is free to be an assshole. Such men don't take advice from women because they consider her opinion on issues as "women's opinion" which to them is useless.
Those are also the kind of men that would chase their wives away for giving birth to all girls.

If we keep chasing small fry, we'll never really go after the big ones. I view this as another case of tire for the guy who stole yam, yet handwringing over those who steal destinies.
It is this same fraudster who defrauded people of 140k that would mature into a bigger thief, hence he should be arrested and punished accordingly before he goes out of hand.

This is why corruption has taken roots in Nigeria! You seem to forget that people in government emerge from the masses. That is why we need to start tackling corruption from the grassroot.
