You see why people should be allowed to bear personal firearms for protection (something the Buhari govt took away from even licenced and peaceful gun owners). Clearly, if she had a firearm on her, her attackers would have thought twice before attempting to attack her. And this is not the failure of police, police cannot be everywhere everytime, things such as this happen in much better countries but if she had some protection at the very least she stood a fighting chance rather than being at the mercy of her assailants. Imagine if she had been killed, people would have looked away. Then we would come here, talk talk talk, and then after a few days that would be it. That is someone's sister, probably mother or wife. That is a human being yet her assailants will not be found nor brought to justice. All we do in Nigeria is talk. We always talk, we love to talk. It is almost as if we were put on this earth to talk, talk talk. We are all talk, no action. What a sham of a country! |
No one said all criminals are fulani herdsmen. I grew up partly in the North in the late 80s and early 90s, fulani-farmer clashes were not this rampant, ask yourself why now? And as these clashes are happening, if we had honest and competent leadership, the call would be for herdsmen to NOT trespass on private property and NOT take laws into their hands when offended. But no, what we see is these herdsmen being emboldened because they know the federal government provides them adequate cover through its use of security forces. What we see is silence and veiled threats from top Fulani leadership whilst killer herdsmen go on rampage. Silence means complicity. Hence, I do not blame the governor for taking drastic steps to ensure the security of his constituents. Nigeria is big enough and blessed enough for all within the enjoy in peace and harmony but when a particular tribe thinks itself wiser than others and actively seeks to take what is not theirs, then one must treat such invader tribe as hostile and act accordingly. The Hausa-Fulani complaining about Igbo domination in the 50s and 60s, The Hausa-Fulani today is doing exactly that today but even worse because you can argue Igbos are not out to kill you, but you can bet the Hausa-Fulani will kill you and take your land naming it after themselves. These are not random, isolated events they are a part of a much larger plot in play by forces behind the scenes. If these occurences are not nipped in the bud they have the propensity to lead to a full-scale war that will engulf this country in its entirety and sever the stitches that have managed to hold us together. Remember we were never one to start with, our false union was only imposed upon us by the british and continued by greedy politicians. I pray the end should come for this country soon enough, let us all go our separate ways and determine our individual futures. BigSarah: |
Despite the overwhelming evidence available, this dubious conclusion is what you can deduce? The fulanis who are nomadic by nature and constant trespass into private property and go on a killing spree should they suspect that their cattle is missing are the ones who are the victims? Don't worry, soon enough you will come out and say the truth. privaldo: |
This is the practice of most obas who are of a muslim extraction but it is not limited to the obas. Do you not see that the average yoruba who is a muslim in those rural enclaves of Kwara, Oyo and Osun have always been sympathetic to the Fulani cause (even if it means their subjugation, something they clearly do not understand). Anyone who thinks these are mere random occurrences ought to think twice. There is a method to these people's madness, they know exactly what they are doing. The only sadness I have is that most of our leaders for sake of what they want to eat, are not doing what needs to be done. Nigeria was never meant to be one, the Fulani have always had an agenda, it took Buhari to wake us all up. There is no such thing as One Nigeria and if we have to fight to instil that point into the heads of these fulani elite, then so be it. I know my Yoruba brothers do not want a war, I do not want a war but clearly a wise man once said that war is an alternative when diplomacy fails. Diplomacy seems to have failed a long time ago with regards to Nigeria, war seems inevitable and this sadness me to say. Kinikini: |
Very true Mr Okorocha, very true. And same applies to whatever movement or party you are in the process of starting. Prostitutes have more ideology and self-esteem than Nigerian politicians and that is putting it mildly. |
The reason is because we have some of the world's finest |
Crickets! |
Hi dear. NaijaOlosho: |
The answer you seek is very simple, the Federal Government of Nigeria and its various Ministries and Agencies do not exist to make life easier for its citizens. To the contrary, from all indications it is obvious that the government exists to make life unbearable for its citizens. inoki247: |
In the write-up, he said the criminals were masquerading as herdsmen. Then later on he gives an ultimatum for herdsmen to vacate the forests. So which is it: criminals posing as herdsmen or herdsmen? |
Why stop there, some chinese are members of BH. Even Aliens from outer space are BH members. |
Like the terrorist attack on Capitol hill on the 6th of January or the one in Charlottesville against peaceful protesters by white supremacist groups who are Trump supporters. You won't count these as terrorist attacks because a muslim was not involved? That would be a huge shame on you. Incase you are unaware, the FBI itself has said America is three times more likely to suffer a homegrown terrorist attack from a white supremacist leaning member than from a muslim. Read more, learn more, talk less. Raysleek: |
The only thing the Federal Government of Nigeria is left to do is basically arm rob it's own citizens. Oh wait, they literally have all government agencies doing that already. Restructure or this: the choice is pretty simple. |
Marriage of convenience and consolidation of power! |
I am not a member of the South East, I am a member of the South West and I reside there. Plus I asked you a question since you insisted that the alliance between Tinubu and Buhari has produced several projects in South west Nigeria. I am only asking out of curiosity, what projects are there in South west Nigeria that are a result of Tinubu and Buhari's political alliance, that were conceived and are being executed within this present administration and that are to the benefit of the average south westerner. You have not answered my question sir/madam. anonymous1759: |
I am curious to know what significant investment did Tinubu's alliance with Buhari bring to Southwest Nigeria. I am not referring to political contracts that benefit loyal party members, I am asking of projects that benefit the average Southwesterner. Please be truthful and direct in your response, thanks. anonymous1759: |
Most will agree but only very few Nigerians are going to ask the only question they should be asking which is "How"? |
Hawua calm down, Moyo has said your husband is not the father of those two kids. Perhaps she took sperm from a sperm bank your husband donated to anonymously. It is just a mere coincidence that the children look exactly like your husband. Calm down dear, nothing spoil. |
The OP has to be a trump supporter to come up with this stupid and quite unnecessary post. Share prices of ALL publicly listed companies rise and fall, what matters is over time they rise more than they fall which translates to profit for shareholders. And FYI Twitter is a US company, most of the market capitalisation is from US stock markets, not the EU. In addition, a fall of 6% is negligible to a company such as Twitter. No news here, just empty banter from someone who barely knows how stock markets work and seeks to overstate the importance of a nuisance such as Donald trump. |
Discussing this is a welcome development however I have pertinent questions. Whilst this may be passed into law, in form of a bill, what agency of government is tasked with enforcing it? Not too long ago a write-up was posted here on nairaland where the OP detailed how foreign seafarers worked on Nigeria Port Authority owned vessels. In this case, the NPA and Nimasa are tasked with enforcing the implementation of such directives but I ask as with all things in this country, what happens when a handful of people in power decide to look the other way? Directives such as these are good but then again who gets to enforce them. |
Bro, anything is possible. Do not put it past the some idiot baale in that area, who may have invited the Fulani at some point and gradually they multiplied and now they lay claim to a village there. This is what happens when a people do not know their history, they are bound to repeat the same mistakes over and over and over. I have said it before and I'll say it again. Some illiterate and naive muslims in these southwestern enclaves, out of spite for their fellow yoruba brethren, are the ones that invite these Fulani marauders into Yoruba lands. They are and continue to be the greatest security threat to south westerners. vincent10: |
This is very deep and very true! engrchykae: |
He can pardon himself, that only shelters him from federal prosecution, the states will go after him. The conman recently relocated from New York to Florida because he clearly knows what is coming for him after he leaves office. He crossed a line that hitherto had never been crossed. He and his enablers, within his party, broke every rule said and unsaid over the last 4 years. Inciting an attack against Capitol hill was the straw that broke the camel's back. A bad deed such as this should not go unpunished, it sets a dangerous precedence, he must be brought to book once he has left office. |
Hehehehehehe. Okay bro, whatever. Fahdiga: |
These are people whom are familiar with the man himself, resigning left, right and centre because they want to be far away from the sh*storm that is happening. Yet some fools here on nairaland who know zero and have just started following US politics are calling for people to storm the Capitol saying the elections were rigged. Idiots. |
After this election cycle and the events that have transpired over the last 4 years, I do not think the United States Government can say, to the world, with a straight face that they are a beacon of hope and a shining example of democracy! |
I said this before and I'll say it again. Our leaders will go get the Moderna or Pfizer or Oxford Vaccine for themselves. Then they'll wait a little for Mr Bill Gates foundation's benevolence. If that does not happen, they will mass procure the Chinese vaccine for Nigerian citizens and I suspect the vaccine was already tested here when some Chinese doctors came to Nigeria earlier last year. |
Because he outed Tinubu's illness, Tinubu being a Yoruba messianic figure to some knuckleheads. Hence they are trying to make it Yoruba vs Igbo again, the usual gameplan. kettykin: |
Anyone can take ill, no one is bulletproof nor does anyone live forever. I do not wish sickness on no man, least of all him. My key take-away is that Mr Tinubu is in Paris for medical treatment. Mr Tinubu has been the defacto Governor of Lagos State for the last 22 years. Lagos State generates a certain amount of revenue every year and a portion of this is spent on its hospitals. Anyone care to ask what is the standard of care of the average Lagos state run hospital? I guess those hospitals are meant for the masses and not for he and his gang. Our leaders never learn and looking at some comments on this thread we as Nigerians will also never learn. |
Funny thing, this was how people such as yourself started defending Ajimobi when he was sick at a Lagos hospital. I wish sickness or death upon no man but eventually the truth comes out one way or another. marsman: |
My brother, you need to check yourself. Even God almighty asks us to respect the laws of the land. The US and its citizens are bounded by their constitution not the bible or whatever some pastor (that you look up to) says. In accordance to that constitution, the people have chosen who they want to be their next president. That is how it is done in civilised countries not in our own part of the world where politicians brazenly rig elections. Trump has tried at every turn to illegally undermine the outcome of this election but somehow you have excused this behaviour on the basis of him being a "servant of God". The God I serve and have come to be familiar with through the bible would never support such behaviour. Biden may not be the candidate that aligns with your belief system but he won the elections and will be sworn in as President. You and your ilk are really making me fear more and more that countries such as the US may end up looking like the series titled "A Handmaid's Tale". There is a reason for the separation of church and state, if you need any history lessons feel free to read up, google is your friend. Righteousness2: |
After listening to the recording, my advise to Mr Trump is he should relocate to Nigeria and run for public office, he would be a perfect fit together with our politicians. |
