Alezie:
Hello House, I have been following this thread for about two months. I just got my letter of admission from University of Regina, Health studies this month. It is an undergraduate degree. I am about to file my application for a student permit and I want to ask few questions.

1) I already have a degree in Medical Physiology, how does this play out when applying for a permit for second undergraduate in Health studies considering they have very similar syllabus?

2) My sponsor is an uncle (We don’t share same surname)of mine and has about 12-15m in his closing account, also I am adding the my dad’s numerous landed property documents and three cars to my application, also the CAC document of the school he owns, all these represents home ties, what’s my best bet on this?

3) And lastly, should I use online or paper route for my application?
1. First, why are you going for another bachelor's degree when you can easily get MSc with your first degree? That will be the question from the VO. That said, it will be hard to convince the VO but not impossible. So make sure you have a very good story to tell as to why you intend to "switch" course or why you are not going for an upgrade to your first degree.
2. Your sponsor not having same surname with you won't be a problem as long as he can show commitment (by either paying your tuition fee or transfer the said fund into your personal account). I always advise people using third party sponsor (someone that is not parent or siblings) to make sure the sponsor pay their tuition fee or transfer the money into their personal account just to assure the VO that fund will be readily available when it's time.
3. Online and paper route won't decide if your app will be approved or not. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you have lots of document to submit, paper route is better as their is not restriction on the size of what to submit (online allows only 4MB of file size per category). Paper route is much more cheaper compare to online (online fee varies depending on the value of the $) while paper route is fixed(I think it is almost 20k difference).
With paper route you get to do your biometric same day you apply while with online route you will have to wait for CIC to send you invitation to go for it(this might take between days to some weeks).
One advantage of online route is that you don't get to stress yourself going up and down as long as you have a scanner (to scan all your document) , so you can do almost everything just sitting in the comfort of your house/office

Hi! Is 3 pages okay and not too much for SOP?

Total words is 1030
It is okay. Good luck

vibrant99:
why would you write 3 pages of SOP? wetin happen? are you describing ur Nigeria too?

Oga, one page and half at most.
Sorry to say, but your post is misleading. SOP can be a long or brief as you want it to be. Some people apply with SOP of as much as 12 pages and they got approval, others as low as 1 page while some didn't even submit SOP and still got their TRV.
SOP is mainly to explain what every you feel the VO should know about yourself and your app. Just make sure if you make it detailed and "interesting" to the VO and you are good. There are some 1 page SOP you read and you get tired of it after the first paragraph and there are some 10 pages SOP you read and you wish there are more pages.
Shalom!

NB: How old are you? Have you heard of Express Entry (EE)? It is another sure route that most people tend to overlook.

Good Morning Guys

I'm in the process of applying for a study permit in Canada , and I came across a question asking if I have been denied entry to any country ,
I have been denied a US visiting visa (B1) , does this question apply to me
Yes it does

Congrats!!
A passport request is an approval for sure.

Everyone's case is not the same and applications are treated individually.... PhD in Engineering is not a Child's play especially in Canada.... and meanwhile it's even classified as in-demand career in most provinces.

Some provinces go in search on Express Entry pool for applicants with job offers in most Engineering fields and give them nominations even with scores as low as 350.

You will confirm this yourself in due time.... carry on and best wishes.
Regards,
Folaroyal
I hail oo, how's everything going so far?

Morning guys, I have questions...I want to apply for my VISA using paper route...if I make payments now, when do you think i can be asked to submit my documents?

2) I have a land I inherited from my mum like 2 years ago, I just have a land agreement and I haven't applied for the CofO yet because its expensive... What document am I going to add to my application to show am the owner of the land and how am I gonna show its worth please?

3) Which of my car documents will I add to my application

4) I have a baby mama, we aren't married yet, is there anyway I can prove to the VO this is true? And do they confirm if a marriage certificate is genuine or not? Because my mum gave me her marriage certificate but she said she got it from a friend after she lost the original. She is not sure if its genuine or not.

Thanks for your help.
1. If you are going via the paper route you will pay the app fee on the day of submission. Once you are ready to submit your app just carry the money(cash) and every documents involve in the process.
2. Deed of transfer will be helpful. Your mum needs to write that the land has been given to you. Any other document relating to the land will come handy as well.
3. Any document relating to the car will do(registration, proof of ownership etc).
4. You don't need to proof anything since you are notarroed to her, just submit copy of your baby's birth certificate, your baby Mama's ID then explain the rest on your SOP. You can state that she is the mother of your baby and you intend getting married to her soon.
About if CIC verify marriage cert, hope you don't intend forging it for yourself? Cos CIC verify EVERY document you submit to them and store them in their system, so be careful. In the case of your mum and I don't think it will be a problem cos she isn't the principal applicant...

I don't see you getting TRV going for part-time program, choose the full-time program and make sure you have enough money to at least cover your tuition and living expenses (especially the former)

Stick to the last advise I gave you and you will be fine. Sometimes this VOs miss some vital information, I have seen people get rejected due to hometie and they reapplied(without much changes to that) and got their TRV. Your hometie is good enough to get you TRV just make sure you STRESS your points clearly in your LOE.
Check the last post I made concerning this matter when you asked me and you should be fine.

Thanks FAM! But do I need to send the profs my SOP too?
Yes, most schools require you to have a professor that can guarantee you funding before applying. Try and send messages to all the professors in your filed stating your interest and why you will like to be part of their team, if they are interested they will reply your mail and give you further directions. Once you can get the attention of any prof(with your research interest) you are good to go.

Guys... am trying to get admission in Canada. What skools would yu suggest I apply to with this profile
UG course: Civil Engineering
Calss of degree: 2.1
UG GPA: 4.10
1 published paper in an international journal.
Intended masters course: Water Resources & Environmental Engineering
Am looking for funding too abeg.

I understand admission is pretty tight in Canada. Please suggest safe skools for my profile. Its pretty urgent pls cos am gunning for fall 19
You have a very good profile, so Google search all schools in Canada offering your intended course and start mailing profs in those schools whose research interest align with yours. You should get funding, just work on your SOP and send them your publication.... Best of luck

Since you wont let this matter die. I am the one who SAID and not DOUBT that Ethiopian airport is not VERY beautiful than Abuja airport, it's big no doubt but beautiful, I won't agree. That airport is a mess, a hot mess...No offense to my Ethiopian brothers. Please I beg you don't push this matter further if you haven't been to that airport in the last 3 years. I am tired of people coming here to say things they do not know, instead of just keeping quiet. We have gone past this issue and you still brought it up, until someone begged you to let this "shithole" issue die. Thank you
Bro no be everything person go comment on na. I was also at the airport twice last year(November and December) and there is nothing special about it walai... I even entered Addis Ababa sef(so I viewed the airport from inside and outside).

Hello guys I was supposed to go for a 2 year program starting Fall 2018. But due to being over 3 weeks late I will probably be deferred to Jan Winter 2019 by the school. Luckily though I was recently asked to go drop my passport for visa stamping. So I wanted to ask what will be the duration of the TRV they’ll stamp in my passport?
TRV is just to grant you entrance into Canada, your study permit will be issued at the point of entry. Since you have deferred your admission till January, just wait till December and travel. Try and inform your school now about the recent development(your TRV approval) and hear what they have to say.
Congratulations and best of luck
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by mcobex: 9:21am On Sep 07, 2018
I want to say a big congratulations to all those that recently got their TRV, wish you all safe journey and study well. That said, please always try squeeze out time from your busy schedule to share useful information to the newbies as they will really appreciate it.
As for those still expecting to hear from CIC, please keep your school informed of the progress of your app and ask them to give you time(most schools give around 14 days for students to resume), so try to exhaust that time before deferring your admission (hopefully before then the almighty CIC would have responded).
For those that were delayed/denied, you still have time to request for your GCMS note(so as to know the real reasons behind the delay), then repackage your new app and fire.
Best of luck everyone and God bless.

Bros you dey vex o! Please calm down and let everything pass.

Nigeria hard but please don’t call our fatherland shithole. I have spent barely two weeks and some days in Canada and I must tell you I’m missing home. Life’s good here and thousands times better than in Nigeria but no place can be like where you grew up.

The culture here is totally different from ours. You would be living in the same Condo and you won’t even greet one another when your path crosses. For example, in the walkway or when you in the elevator, you will either be looking each other like dondee or be pressing phone. Sometimes you greet them and they will be looking at you like mumu, and sometimes they respond with all smile. Even in 3 or more bedroom houses, you see only few that mix well. Most times it’s hi hi when you meet and when you in the house, you lock yourself in the room doing your thing.

The food too. You go chop rice tire. The best thing is to cook here. Not like naija wey you fit just enter one restaurant or buka and load fufu or Eba and spend less than 1k. Go to African restaurant here a the least plate you can get is for $15 (#4,350) and you won’t even be satisfied. And for your info, you pay tax for everything. SIM card wey dem dey sell 100 naira for naija, I bought for $40 (#11,600) here , which was the best deal and I was charged $6 (#1740) extra as tax. Even tax dey ontop bread. I buy wheat bread for $3.29 (#954) which is #250 in naija(more than x3). So the thing here is you have to change your lifestyle if you really wanna have savings. Wheat bread wey I dey finish once in naija, I dey chop am 3 times here grin. Beans of about 3 congos is $22 imagine! One thing, If you keep converting to naira, you won’t buy anything here lol. Got a jean jacket $70 wey I go see confirm akube for 1500 in naija.

Also, I learnt the weather during winter is mad. Even those that were born and bred here are afraid winter is coming! I remember during my orientation a lady at the information fair was asking me if I would like to study abroad. I told her I am already studying abroad because I am an International student. She laughed and said I can still study abroad, perhaps after I spend a winter here, I would like to study abroad...imagine! Lol

Congrats on your approval and I wish you the best in Canada!
Lol! Na so o bro,. You never begin mix red oil with groundnut oil cook egusi/ogbonor soup? cos that's what I do if not once red oil finish na only groundnut oil I go use cook soup.

This is why we keep having problems in our beloved (shithole) country, we ignore the reasons why a particular thing or group was created for and start doing something different with it, how hard can it be ask questions of how to apply for study permit, apply, get approved or rejected, try again and while doing that try to help others or be quiet (like I've been cos I don't know much) or you get your trv wish people good and depart for your studies in peace. Why wish a fellow being failure. It makes no sense
Have you applied for your TRV? if yes, did you write in your SOP that you are leaving cos naija is a shitehole? If you haven't applied yet I hope you will put the Nigeria being a shitehole in your SOP?
