Please can anyone advice me on what to do regarding my nysc certificate. I finished serving in 2015 but had issues regarding my certificate and it was transferred to abuja. when I got there mid last year I was asked to come back because the person discharging certificates wasn't on sit. This was very frustrating because I had to travel all the way from lagos. but I need to submit my visa application and I don't know if it's compulsory to add a discharge certificate. p.s I have my certificate number and all other relevant document but just not the discharge certificate. KINDLY ADVICE
NYSC cert is just to explain that 1 year gap, if you can explain something else in place of NYSC(like working or doing any training) you will be good to go. The vo expects you to explain every gap from your years in school till date(from primary school-date)

Hi everyone, I am here in Malaysia with student visa, i did my degree here and also doing my masters right now,i want to apply for student visa in Canada but people are saying that i have to go back to my home country because i have no tie here. that i should apply from Nigeria showing my husband company certificate and funds to sponsor me. Also i will like to know if i can go and apply from Nigeria and come back to Malaysia after submission and it is a good idea to do my biometric here in Malaysia and also medical here or i have to do all in nigeria because i apply there? Pls your advice will go a long way. thanks
Since you still have a study visa in Malaysia you can apply there, infact the process should be much more easier for you. Go to cic page and check the processing time for Malaysia applicants. The only time you can't apply from another country is if you are on visiting visa.
NB: That doesn't stop you from still using your husband's company papers, but trust me I think you have a better chance applying in Malaysia. Best of luck

Dear NL
I need an advise I have been a silent reader on this thread for this year i applied for study permit in June though still awaiting their response but my GF too also apply but she was refused last week and we have ordered for gcms note and also write to Dalhousie University to issue her another letter for January. Please I need advise on the following

1 if my application is refused how will it feel to the VO if my GF is applying again and we apply as a couple with marriage certificate knowing fully well that I had already applied for study permit and was refused because I know they will issue a spousal work permit for me

2 looking at the time frame when she’ll apply again maybe by September is it advisable to apply as a couple won’t it show a bit of desperation

Please I need advise of my fellow NL

Please
Yours has not been denied, so why give the instance? Let your GF reapply(after seeing her GCMS note)..... Once the time comes you will know what to do but until then don't wish yourself bad luck. The fact your GF was denied doesn't mean you will be denied

Good evening, @mycobex, goinforward, frankrob1

1. I have a registered company with Coporate Affairs Commissions,

2. I worked with a company but my gross salary without deduction #114, 000 naira only.

My question is that, I want to build bank account, which one is credible for canny visa application?

Personal bank account or company bank account?

I will want to start build special account with a bank that will have big turnover. what is your advice pls
Try to build both but more importantly your PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT. But make sure you submit both SOA and company papers(it doesn't really matter how small the money in your company account is as long as the personal is enough to cover your studies)....also you won't have to make many explanations if your personal accountis more healthy than that of your company

Hi Everyone,
I just got a passport request and not approval letter after 15 weeks of waiting since March. Hope this is a good thing? A little bit on profile. I have applied three times. Denied twice, this is my third time applying. The only difference I did this time was to submit my personal account, and not just my sponsor, even though it wasn't a lot of amount, but I guess the VO wanted to see my own personal account. Please how do I submit my passport. Is it at VFS office, do I need to book an appointment?
Thank you
Take your passport to VFS office near you(Lagos or Abuja) and you can return back after some days to pick it up with your TRV stamped on it...though you will be contacted on when to go back for it. Congratulations on your approval

Thank you @mcobex and @biakwa,...how else can i go about the family ties? I happen to be the only child though i ve half siblings. will that be accepted?
Your parents can serve as home tie. The main thing is give the vo a genuine reason it reasons why you will return back to Nigeriaafter your studies..... it might be cos of family properties you will inherit after studies in naija, it might be job prospects in naija, etc. Just give genuine reasons why you will return to Nigeria after your studies(cos as a foreign student you are suppose to leave Canada after studies)

Hello House,

I must commend the efforts, contributions, positive energy , advise and guidance given in here. I've been a silent reader all the while, as a matter of fact, i joined the NL fam this morning.

I was refused a study permit this morning after picking up my passport @ vfs.....sad sad sad. The denial reason states " I am not satisfied you will leave canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your travel history, family ties in canada and in country of residence, purpose of visit, current employment situation, personal asset and financial status.

Help me guys ... I am so demoralized now....I know it is well.

Sorry about the delay, first things first..... Order for your GCMS note ASAP so you can know the real reasons behind the delay.
Secondly, you have to show on your SOP how related Statistics(your previous course) is to Info Tech(your proposed course).... you have to explain to the vo like he/she knows nothing about both courses.
Concerning home ties, make sure you give the vo genuine reasons why you will come back to nigeria after your programme and make sure you include the IDs of all your siblings(if possible).
You also need to explain in detail why you choosed to study in Canada(which is very expensive) and not Nigeria....cos same course is being taught by most unis in Nigeria.
NB: ORDER FOR YOUR GCMS NOTE, IT WILL GO A LONG WAY IN YOUR NEXT APP.

After getting visa approval is it advisable for the student to go to Canada 7 weeks before the school resumption
You have no issue going 7 weeks to resumption. Just tell immigrations that you want to acclimatize, they might not even ask.

My GCMS note is now 3 weeks old. I hope I can get it in the next few days and I will share. But I am just saying that from all the profile of approvals that have been shared, sponsorship and scholarship has been a common factor.
If you are sponsoring yourself just make sure you have enough funds to cover the entire duration of your programme, but in the case of using a sponsor the sponsor can show funds for just one year(as long as he/she has a good source of income), that's just the difference.

I also Congratulate the recent approvals in the house.

I got refused early in June and I have already applied for my GCMS note but I observed a certain trend that most people who got approvals are people with either Scholarship or Sponsors.

1) is it that the VO don't trust people like me who are self sponsors because purpose of visit and funds was part of the reason i was refused

2) after 10 years of been gainfully employed and my spouse too is gainfully employed, it is that the VO still prefers one to have a sponsor or get a scholarship?

Please my brothers and sisters in the house help to clarify
Self sponsor is not the reason you were denied. Order for your GCMS note asap to know the real reasons behind the denial, before then share your profile let's see.

I would imagine your email was wrongly typed, or the delivery process was delayed. You need to contact CIC or a visa office nearest to you. Biometric mail comes immediately an application is submitted. Praying is good, but you do not have to wait; go there!
Cc: @yeahkim, That's not entirely true, there are cases where applicants don't get biometric invitation even after 2 weeks of applying. The only time you get to do biometric during submission is via paper route, as for online route you will be mailed when they have space for you(that's one of the advantage paper route has over online).

Ok. Just being this inquisitive because my sponsor who is my dad paid my full tuition and transferred living expenses to my account just for one academic year. Then his SOA has closing balance of just 8M. My program is 20months. I hope God works his miracle for me.
You are good to go, make sure he shows his source of income(it is very important).

Please can you tell why refusal on the bases of insufficient fund when his sponsor is father with SOA of 21m as closing balance? I cant seem to place that right
Sometimes it's not just about having the money in the account, the sponsor needs to clearly how much he will be committing towards study, his source of funds, his dependants(apart from the applicants), how he intend paying for the following year(and beyond)..... Just like @Frank said, I will advise the dad to pay tuition fee(except if the school don't accept it until trv is approved) and also transfer funds to applicant's account. These VOs are making things harder for applicants from Nigeria by the day, so you need to convince them beyond reasonable doubt.

Can someone please comment on this. kiss
I don't think the cheque will be accepted, but the good news is that he has paid your tuition fee. Let him write in his letter of support that he has paid your tuition fee and will transfer the living expenses to you later. You also need to state it in your SOP that he has paid your tuition. He needs to show his proof of funds(business or any other way he makes his money).
NB:Make sure you submit your own SOA as well(no matter how small the money in it is). Best of luck

Hi,

You cannot use this sponsor.

if your full tuition and living expenses have been paid into your account then you can use the sponsor. the incoming and outgoing cash will serve proof that there's a probability of money coming for your fees in the future years.

please and please, your sponsor must show that they have the required amount available either in their account or it has been paid to you.
Hi bro, hope you have booked your flight? Congratulations on your approval.

I still can't believe that we have a great forum like this. Please, Gurus and my Ogas @ d top, I have a question that I am unable to find an answer for the past 45 days. Please, I have a sponsor who earns 1.5 m Naira monthly as salary but with 80k closing balance. Below is the summary.
opening balance: 3k
total debit: 15m
total credit: 15m
closing balance:81k

With extensive document, can i use her as my sponsor for study permit without paying tuition fee? She is a friend to me but not related in any form.

Thanks
It won't work. First your friend doesn't have enough in his/her account. Secondly, as a third party your sponsor will be required to show commitment by paying your tuition fee and transfer your living expenses into your account or transfer both into your account. And from the look at the account what is there can't even book a flight to Dubai let a lone to Canada or even pay your tuition fee/living expenses.
MY ADVISE:
1. Wait till your sponsor has an healthy balance or
2. Get another sponsor or
3. Try and secure funding(that's if you have good undergraduate grade) or
4. Look at another country

Thanks sir

One more thing

After filling all the cic forms for all my family
1. Does each person need separate envelope
2. After filling cic form and clicking validate, do I need to anything online? Paper route is what I want to do, but am only asking anything is to be done online before going to visa office
3 Can I use up-to 4 to 5 sponspor who are friends, and not family relation
1. You don't need separate envelopes, in fact VFS staff won't collect any envelope from you. Once the person attending to you collects your app, he/she will arrange them accordingly and put everything in a file (VFS jacket), then direct you to the next counter where you will pay app fee and later submit and biometric.
2. Once you validate your form, just print it. Nothing more.
3. You can use as many third party sponsor but make sure they show commitment by paying the said amount to your account and state in their respective letter of support why they are sponsoring you. Though I think using 2 sponsors should be enough(My opinion).
NB: I want to believe you have been working before now and since you are married with children the vo will require you show your own fund (apart from your soonsors)......just try and show you save some money on your own towards your studies. Using too many soonsors at this stage(without you showing you have personal savings towards your own studies might make the vo feel you aren't responsible enough). I will advise you use just 2 sponsors while your other friends send their own part into your account and you explain in your SOP that you borrowed them some money in the past and they just paid you back.
