How old were you when the application with someone else's details was made? Whom made the application? It's a 50/50 situation even though you've obviously spent out the ban that this situation usually attracts. If you end up applying, be 100% truthful about the refusal and the situation around it. Also ensure that all your docs/information are genuine, in line with UKVI student visa rules and can hold up under the most stringent scrutiny. You might or might not get it. But 1st, you need to get a school to assign you CAS before your visa application- that will be a uphill task with many schools due to the circumstances surrounding your previous refusal. cole82: I visited UK a in 2006 before the introduction of the biometrics with 6months multiple visa, I spent 3months and came back b4 the visa expired. I did drop box and I was denied. In 2008 after the introduction of the E-passport in 2008 I was misled and deceived and was made to applied for a visiting visa again, this time around not with my real names and my biometrics was taken at UK Visa application center, at the end the visa was denied. Right now I want to genuinely seeking a study visa to do a postgraduate masters in social work in United kingdom. Pls, I need to know what are the necessary things to do in order to be transparent to clarify this. Thanks in anticipation. |

Yes, you can. You’ll need to request for a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) from your old network and give it to your new provider when you order your sim from your new provider. Text 'PAC' to 65075, using the number that you want to keep to receive your PAC. hustla: Thanks boss!

Also, some sites are asking for qualifications. Should I just list the ones relevant to this health and care jobs or I should start from my O'level to Post Graduate level?

Not all. This is simply an environment that encourages both partners to be active parts in building their family. If you as a man truly respect your wife, then it would be difficult for your wife to disrespect you. The things you do to people/spouses in Nigeria that the police or people will refuse to intervene because it's a "domestic matter" will not be allowed to slide here. A lot of "Nigerian" toxic marriages find it difficult to thrive here because the tools that the spouse that has been wronged can use to remedy the situation are available. This is not to say that some spouses are not guilty of being irrational but then, the key is knowing who you're married to to avoid generalising based on your experience or a few others - there are marriages in which the spouses didn't and won't negatively change once abroad. elenengine: They grows wings once they are here and start to be disrespecting you. |

Guess different Trusts, different Takes. I'm hoping that you get an offer that can sponsor soon. NHS can sometimes be difficult to get into but once you're in, you're in. beautyfoch: It is actually a Trust in London.
The attached screenshot was the basis of their argument, that they cannot issue COS for band 2 jobs as per the going rate on UKVI website. That band 2 was not listed in the table hence is not eligible for sponsorship. |
Travel › Re: UK Skilled Worker Visa / Health And Care Worker Visa / Qualified Teacher Route by mimilyrics: 8:54pm On Mar 22, 2022 |
Some actually sponsor. Try Trusts within London - then enhancements make the pay better. I know someone who was sponsored as a Band 2 HCA by a London Trust but the person was already in the UK though and it wasn't even stated on the ad that sponsorship was available. The person just sent a mail to the recruiting manager asking about COS to avoid going out of status as current visa was expiring in about 2 weeks - HR gave the runaround but after the manager was involved, a COS was sent within 2 days. beautyfoch: Let me share my experience with an NHS TRUST.
I applied to one trust that has Certificate of Sponsorship advertised in the role (the Per annum salary was over 21k pounds). I was shortlisted for an interview. On the day of the interview, I specifically told the interview panel that I am NOT resident in the UK and would require a Certificate of Sponsorship if successful. They assured me that they were aware because it was mentioned in my application. The interview lasted for more than 30 minutes with lots of drilling and questions flying up and down.
One week later, I received a conditional offer of employment which was even addressed to my Nigeria home address. I was so elated and danced to my "answered prayers".
I then noticed that part of my conditions was to provide my "right to work in the UK". I sent an email immediately and notified them that I would be needing a COS in order to apply for visa as earlier mentioned during my interview.
Boom! I received the shocker of my life, they cannot issue me a COS (that the healthcare assistant role I applied for is not eligible for sponsorship) I was shocked to the bone marrow, I referred them to UKVI website with the necessary links to back up my facts. They maintained that for NHS band 2 jobs, sponsorship cannot be issued as it does not meet the "going rate" on UKVI website irrespective of the salary.
After some days, the offer was withdrawn. I felt very bad and discouraged.
This particular experience taught me a lesson for NHS applications. It's clearly obvious they do not sponsor lower band jobs.
I have picked my broken pieces and moved on. I believe God that my YES is around the corner |

Either option. It depends on what you want though it is sometimes better for the main applocant to come first to sort accommodation and the likes. If your dependants don't mind the initial stress of settling in, then nothing says that you cant come at the same time. giftedchild009: My question is, can your dependants go together with you and enter UK together with you, or you will first go and they will come and join you? |

No. Yes, when asked about the child's nationality. Omonas035: I have been given an offer from Teesside university for Sept 2022 intake even though I haven't received my CAS yet. I have read a lot from people saying if you say you know someone in the UK, your visa can be rejected. In my circumstance, I have two children I am willing to take along as my dependants, my last child has a british passport because his Dad is British/Nigerian. He is permanently based in UK. My university location is 4 hours away from where he lives so we wont be staying together. We are not married.
Do I need to state that I know someone in UK? Do I need to state that one of the children I'm taking along has a British passport?
I'm asking these questions because I've heard a situation where they can say you might not want to come back to Nigeria after your studies.
Please anyone who has gone through this situation should please enlighten me.

It isn’t about the job market, it is about how you position yourself for it. What work experience have you got with IT? What key IT certs do you have? - some roles require certain experience and high-level certs. Also, getting internships and related roles as soon as you arrive - even if the pay isn't your end goal - will help you towards landing a cool IT role within and outside Essex. On the other hand, you might not get your dream job in Essex, it might be in London but commute from Essex is made easy using the C2C trains. Zakozahbehni: Does anyone know how the job market is for IT careers in Essex, would need to make a decision on this unconditional offer I received from the University of Essex.
Many thanks in advance for your responses |

I agree with speaking your language at home. My lil one got interested in learning just so she could do "aproko" and understand our discussions. YouTube has also been an amazing way for her to learn - knows more Naija songs than I do now. Vicas2000: I currently do this with my Son and he understands yoruba fluently and can speak in the correct accent decently for his age.
Here's what I did:
1. Only speak in Yoruba at home. The first 1-2 month will be hard for you, but you MUST make conscious effort.
2. For children who don't currently speak, you say things in English and then repeat it in Yoruba for every sentence. This is very important. You have to do this over and over and over again.
3. When it's raining, I sing "Ojo nro...sere ninu ile", when I am bathing him, I sing "we ki o mo, get ekana re". When driving in the car, I sing "Labe igi orombo" I make this constant practice etc.
4. Teach them body parts. e.g. Head, shoulder knees & Toes (then you proceed to teach other things). The other day, I saw a flower on our way back from school, I simply said to him...Ki leleyi? he goes...flower...I said...Ododo....and asked him to repeat it (note - I say this in yoruba to him).
5. I do a 30 minutes class for my son weekly. We have Alawiye (I got someone to buy it from Nigeria). I also bought some yoruba books on Amazon (e.g. "Iresi was nile" is a good one), and we read it 1 - 2 weekly. I would do more, but I am always very busy with work.
6. I never ever speak English (except when I am angry with what the they do, and my "Englishness" switches in). It's always Yoruba. Even to the toddler who can't speak yet, I say everything to him in Yoruba. At 1, he understands "was gba" (come and take).
7. Sign up to "cultureTree" on Youtube, they have some decent songs in Yoruba (if you are Yoruba). There are some great Igbo youtube channels too.
8. I am a sucker for King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey (and even have some old Vinyl records owned by my dad and inherited by me), so I play them on my Turntable and I sing it. My son (4 years) sings "asiko mi tito" by Ebenezer Obey (not very fluently, but he understands it and dance to it.
9. Teach them Yoruba alphabets. Let them know how different it is from the English Alphabets.
10. Watch Yoruba movies with them. No, I don't mean "Yorubawood" Those ones are trash. Look for deep-rooted amazing Yoruba films e.g. Any Tunde Kelani or Kunle Afolayan based yoruba movies should be ideal.
11. Patience: You must be patient. You must be resilient. You must keep at it, when you do, after one year, it will pay off.
My goal is to ensure my kids can speak very fluently with a proper Yoruba accent (without Britishness) and be able to read and write it without any issues. I don't even bother teaching them English. They will learn that without stress in school. |

They stopped years back. Now, only the refusal letter is evidence of a refusal - no notation on the passport. mogatti: Yes sir I am aware refusals just come with a letter and no vignette. In addition to the letter they usually write the refusal reference number with a pen at the last passport page. I was refused visitor visa sometime in 2008 and they wrote it with a pen at the last page of my passport. For you it may not be the last page but check through all the pages in your passport which was used to apply you should see it unless they have stopped doing that |

tonero230: Is Canterbury expensive to live in. Are there student jobs there See below. mimilyrics: Canterbury is a beautiful town and you'd love it if you're into picturesque landscapes. It's also a quiet place.
The study experience is cool. The teaching quality is high but not as high and vigorous as its neighbour - UoK; you're expected to produce the highest quality work on your studies but once you get a good grip of your academic writing style and engage with your course, it's easier to do.
Students jobs are in constant supply. There's a club (club chemistry and its sister club, Tokyo Tea rooms - you can search them up on Facebook) in town that are constantly recruiting; no bartending or club work experience is required, they train newbies. They pay minimum wage which increases depending on how long you've been with them. You can also work on UoK campus (Venue night club, school cleaning dept, the school food stores e.t.c) or off campus (stores on the high street, bars and more are constantly recruiting); the school jobs pay just the minimum wage, no extras. The job shops in CCCU and UoK also constantly post on and off- campus jobs on its site and its doors. Your best bet for work would be Club Chemistry if you don't mind working at night, they also have programs with music artistes and DJs, charity events e.t.c from time to time which will give you more than 20hours (in 2-3 days) when it's not term time. If you end up going there, go to Club chemistry/Tokyo Team rooms and ask to speak to the manager or check their website for their contacts and send them a mail or call them.
The East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust also usually has part-time jobs available.
Living expense is quite low if you don't go for the extras or on-campus accommodation.
*Accommodation ranges from 290 to around 500 for shared apartments. One of the houses I lived in was fully finished with 5 bedrooms which ranged from £320 (single room) - £400 (double room) which included all bills (Internet/Gas/Electricity/Water). It is close to the city centre so it is easier to shop and access buses to school/work/church. CCCU is very close to the twon centre so you could walk on some days if you want.
* Food costs the same as across London, I spent around £ 20-30 on food (Cereal, pasta and the likes) monthly because I usually had like 5-8 bowls of soup/stew which sometimes lasted me 6 weeks (I usually got this each time I went home in London so I didn't pay for this). Major purchases like a 5kg bag of rice, yam flour, poundo e.t.c cost me about £20 amd lasted for about 2 months. There's also just one African store close to the city centre (not sure if this has changed cos it's been a while since I visited).
*Transportation is quite cheap. At the start of each session, Stagecoach has a 9-month Unirider ticket offer for travel within Kent and East Sussex at around £250. You just need to show your card + student ID when you board buses; extra cost applies if you're going outside the coverage areas. If you don't buy the Unirider ticket, each return trip will cost you around £3.50. |
