OP if I hear... It's true immigration laws are lax here, but usually foreigners bring investment and often hire Nigerians. I can't say the same of Nigerians living abroad illegally. High taxes are why the system works. Infrastructure, schools, airports, security... these are paid for by taxes. I would happily pay taxes if I didn't have to sink my own borehole, buy gen, hire may guard , and once in a while "donate" to fix transformer or grade a road. All these things we do are taxes by another name. Instead of racism, we have tribalism The only thing I would agree about is culture... but even there, a lot of our "politeness" is just face... we do it because we would be slapped otherwise, not because we really want to. We beat our children and each other too much, it's actually quite sad. Freedom of speech and movement... try abusing a politician in Nigeria and see if you won't get frog jumped, beaten, and probably hauled to cool off in a cell. Try going to the courts to plead your case, and you will discover really quickly how unjust our system is. Security Threat to non- indigenes... so all the news about black people being killed by cops in USA is not security threat? Or how about those who were killed while worshipping jejely in Church, Mosque, or Synagogue; or while enjoying a movie or concert... at least in Naija you can predict where and when kasala will burst, so you can start heading home. I appreciate the post, and I appreciate living in Naija, but omo, our mata dey tire person. |
Very nice... before you know it Uyo will be ultra-modern. It's already a wonderful place, and getting more developed on a regular basis. In spite of their looting (e.g. Akpabio), the governors have tried... |
NaijaElba:Thank you very much! Each bag Toke and co. have flaunted online can pay for school fees for at least 50 children. Let them start there instead of this empty "I'm disgusted by this act by school officials.". What are the schools supposed to pay their teachers with? Learning materials nko? Building maintenance nko? Is it not student's fees? If a parent cannot pay school fees, I'm sorry, but it's not the fault of the school. |

Nah today? When you were elected, you had faith... now you're not among those collecting returns, you're lacking in faith. Mtcheew... at least we won't have to worry about statues being erected in Abuja too... ![]() My happiness would have been complete only if the people also retired that singer-songwriter and dancer from Kogi |
Which one is fake slippers... how can you go and price something for 8k thinking its original? You suppose know from the price na... Buyer falling hand... and how much did he have to give to police to show up? |
Simple, because there is no God... The concept of the Abrahamic God was invented by humans to explain the Universe and Man's place in it, just like every other mythology and pantheon we've seen. If you think the following are mythology: Zeus, Obatala and Orunmila, Amadioha and Ala, Thor, Buddha... then why hold on to Yahweh? The concept of God has not existed for the past 6 billion years or so, but was invented once Man was capable of advanced thought, which might be only 500,000 years ago. There are billions of billions of stars, most of which have planets. If you imagine that there are only .000001% of them which have the potential to harbor life, that's still a lot of potential places where life exists outside Earth. Man is not special, and neither is Earth. |
ekaette1621:Why not? If Buhari had added the jobs he promised he would; or stopped spending our money on all the jets and on medical tourism like he said he would; or had not made the recession worse with his not-so-wise policies, they would be less need for crime. All this poo-eating, panty-stealing, skull-mining we're seeing is a direct result of lack of opportunities, and has gotten worse in the last 4 years. If economy goes well, we praise leaders; when things are not going well, they should also chop criticism. |
priceaction:He didn't even come down from the car, he said... so obviously he didn't take this picture. But police are getting worse. Didn't I read about bullets been dropped in somebody's car? It's because of stories like this I always come down to open my boot. I'm beginning to wonder if I should put a dash cam in my boot and car. |
I don't remember ever hearing this man saying he was saddened by the deaths of his countrymen, nor has he every done anything to prevent it... oh that's right, he actually feels more affiliation for people of Niger. If you see Daura on the map, you'll come to the same realization I did. |
sexybaby22:As Alaafin, there is an entire palace worth of people to take care of their needs. It has been so since the founding days of the Oyo empire, so have no fear. BTW, all honour and respect due, but I suspect frozen in-vitro things what with all these twins and boys at his age, if you get my drift. ![]() |
And in spite of all the precedents before him, he has a total of 6 ministers who are women. At least he tried small... 6 out of 37 is... 16% |
You guys abusing her, shame on you! It's the same person, yet just because of what she chooses to wear and ignoring those "fake" things men claim to be unnecessary like weave, makeup, short skirts, dresses, these same men seek to abuse her. Nobody goes about complaining when a guy wears suit, dress pants, jeans, short, agbada, etc, but unless a woman is wearing sexy clothes, she can't be taken seriously. Smh to you guys, and to the occasional woman who bashes other women. |

And it's not even rainy season yet... Well, I wonder how much of Lagos is actually under-sea level nowadays. Just a matter of time before the ocean reclaims what belongs to it. |
Just as I said: https://www.nairaland.com/5061802/bala-haruna-dies-after-swimming/2#76377724 I'm sure though, that this is just made up, and before 24 hours we will see "No I did not die oh! Fake news" We have so much fake news these days, it's just easier to not read anything, because by the time you read one thing in morning, then the opposite in the evening, the net effect is zero. INEC postpone, INEC no postpone; INEC postpone; Emefiele resign, he no resign; Fake brands, fake food, fake drugs, fake girls, and now fake news... Cannot believe any single thing. Naija I hail oh. |
donstan18:And rightly so... there's nothing a child needs from a man's body after fertilization, so it would be very odd to see how it could be reversed. You read the story how the child's mother could not produce enough milk, and how he vomited after drinking cow milk. I don't understand your comment at all. apelike1:Not in all cases, and sometimes not enough, and in a few cases, the child refuses (or can't latch on) to the mother's nipples (size may be too big, or even too small). That's why we've always had wet nurses throughout history in all parts of the world. |
Original science student... I guess he took these lyrics too seriously: oti ti po omi gutter po, oju ti dirty. If this news is true, then RIP... too bad your hero won't even care about you. I'm sure though, that this is just made up, and before 24 hours we will see "No I did not die oh! Fake news" |
henry49:Er, there's a difference between innovative ideas that nobody knows how to evaluate, vs. a tried and true business where the numbers are clear: 300k is not enough to start a sustainable business in phone accessories business. There's nothing new or unknown about selling accessories, and those with experience have given their advise. If the goal is to make money, I just pointed out that with 300k, there are options less risky than selling accessories. For every Zuckerberg or Page, there are thousands of others for whom their ideas did not pan out. But you're right, we just never know, and we will be back to praise him should his idea work. |
MrMcJay:You're right about inflation, but the reason I asked him to park his money is that the chances of making a profit with 300k on phone accessories business in this current climate is close to nil. Same thing with farming, real estate, provisions, or pretty much any business. 300k is not enough, and he will lose 100% of his 300k within 1 or 2 years, since the margins are so low. Better park it and know he has a backup plan. There are some banks that beat 10%. For instance FCMB offers 11.5% and Union Bank offers 12.5% according to the numbers on https://www.nairaland.com/4823426/fixed-deposits-interest-rates-nigerian I also did not want to go into other ways of making that money work: investing in the stock market is another way of putting 300k to work, but that's a long-term game because the market fluctuates so much. Farming cooperatives is another, but people I know have been burned in recent harvests where they barely made their investment back. Buying land is also an option, since it's currently appreciating faster than inflation, and good luck buying anything for 300k, unless you want to spend money on transport to survey some place far inside bush. |
Ghen ghen, it's like there's no more need to pretend... not only will we hear lawmakers making this claim, we will soon see farmers, herdsmen, and whoever else, claiming all of Nigeria as theirs. Buhari voters, una well done oh. Ghana or Kenya are looking very attractive to me all of a sudden. |
seekingop: Rubbiish:Because of his lack of confidence, he does not generate sexual attraction in her. Simple. Furthermore, he isn't going to initiate it - yet. However, if he was a confident fellow, she would be attracted (because that's how nature works), and he'd be confident enough to initiate or lead things in that direction. |
You say he has good character, but lacks confidence. Consider: - confidence is something you can learn. - character is something you can't change. So far as he really likes you, just let him feel you're impressed by him and what he does, and help him build up confidence. Being around you will make him feel more comfortable and start coming out of his shell. |
rexwalters:I suppose you're right, but technically, we need a person either from NE or middle-belt this time. We've had NW/NC/SW/SS/SE governors. |
Buhari, here's your chance to install yet another Fulani man, in your attempts to reify Sir Ahmadu Bello's dream of a Northern/Fulani domination of Nigeria. It won't surprise any of us at all, but hey, those who voted for you, also vote for your policies, so who am I to argue? |
I see the mosquitos have not driven him insane yet - or have they ? ![]() |
homosapien:So Egypt reduces their production by 40% because of water-conservation concerns, and suddenly because of the numbers, Nigeria by default rises up in the ranks of rice producer and for some reason this is due to Buhari? Abeg. Then next year when they restart full rice production, we will say what? |
ikorodureporta: Raypawer:You may have a point, but ikorodureporta also has a valid point. Raw materials usually need to be prepped. You may find that the bamboo (or timber) needs to be a certain type or treated with a certain chemical in order to be workable in the machines. With Nigerian factor, it might even be cheaper to import the raw material than to source it locally. I hope that's not the case, but there you are. |
loricara:OP, spare 300K? How nice. Honestly though, Nigeria is so tough right now that starting a business with 300k is asking for trouble. It may seem like a lot of money for business, but at the end of the day, the profits you'll make after working so hard is just not worth it. People say you can double your money in 1 or two years, but they don't tell you how hard they hard to work, the pitfalls, the losses, and that the business didn't start working until 5 years later. The phone accessories business is very competitive, and unless you have the time and energy to do it 24/7, you will lose to those who do. I suggest you just open up a fixed deposit account and let it sit and gather money for you (around 30k/year at 10%, while you do nothing). People need emergency savings before venturing into business, so just save this 300k that you're fortunate to have. |
People, the alligator had gunshot wounds from a prior encounter, and was euthanized. But yes, if this had been in Naija, pepper soup for done land. ![]() |
OddsIsland:Abi now? They believed the first time, and still believed the second time... on a long tin they are... ![]() |
Kylekent59:I hate to say this but we know that the moment an Imam issues a fatwa, NONE of those beggars will remember that Igbo man's kindness and will heartily slaughter him and his family. It has happened before, and there's no reason to think it won't happen again. And with this President of the North, government won't do a damn thing to prevent it, render assistance, or even tender an apology. I'm not spreading hate; I'm simply relating facts. Anybody dealing with the masses from the North is riding a time bomb, because they are shackled by the elites who use them for all kinds of atrocious acts, regardless of who they hurt. We are going to see more impunity from Fulani this next 4 years, as there's now no need to pretend. |
