Davash222:I'm not sure that taking either Buhari or Atiku serious will not also lead to disappointment. Just vote for Sowore. Even if he doesn't win, the fact that he gets a lot of votes will inspire people for the next election, and show APC and PDP that their not the only games in town. |
faithfull18:You can. Just vote for Sowore. Even if he doesn't win, the fact that he gets a lot of votes will inspire people for the next election, and show APC and PDP that their not the only games in town. |
ConciousRapper:That's what I've been telling people, but dem no wan hear. Forget oh... from Feb 18 - May, then from Jun to Dec 31 2019, PMB will be on vacation. We know this, yet we think he can be effective. Why don't people use their heads sometimes? |
46O1CE: Abeyjide:Please educate him. People want to live in peace, but somebody will get angry at election results, then at Friday prayer imams would encourage people to go and slaughter their fellow man over some triviality. I've said it before: I can never establish any kind of life in the North, and though I admire Igbos and Yorubas who do, I always discourage people from doing so, and tell them to keep one foot outside. One day you and Hasan are cracking jokes, next day he comes to wipe out an entire family, and there are NO repercussions from the Government. |
abbeyty:Elections are peaceful... it's the acceptance of results that cause trouble especially in the North. And Buhari himself has encouraged violence in prior elections, talking about baboons and dogs being soaked in blood ... |
Wise move... It's unfortunate that we still have to take these precautions, but better to avoid stories that touch. And some chiefs are saying: "don't run, Kano is our home, security is in place..." Not ONE of these people will risk a shred of cloth in defending victims should violence break out. Even police will run. In my view, a Southerner living anywhere North of the Niger or Benue is asking for trouble at this time. Relocate with your family and stay put for a few weeks. |
JasonScoolari:Yes oh! That guy needs to see the people rejecting his dulling. Daura calling. My Saturday is clear, beer and asun at the ready, let me join my paddies for a night of trash talking. Will Orubebe bless us again with his antics? |
Mtcheww.. Juju that could not save Benin from British guns and colonization. Juju that cannot employ youths or give them real wealth. Juju that cannot cure simple diseases like malaria or yellow fever. Of what use is Edo Juju? It can't even help you fly. Forget all they say about it. Until Edo Juju can make Benin a prosperous city, as good as London, then please, I'm not interested. Lady should just leave it for her mother in-law to keep disturbing herself. |
See how Buhari humble... he will deal with them if he wins again. But it won't happen sha... Daura calls. Can't wait for Saturday and the drama. Orubebe was fun last time... ![]() |
OkunrinOloro:From what I hear, the American criminal justice system is not something you want to be dipping in lightly. Once they get involved, mom and daughter will be put into records for domestic violence, courts, lawyers, "family workers", and therapists will get involved, and daughter will never learn to appreciate or respect her mother, and the state may even go so far as to create an injuction separating the two - if the daughter were to request it (because she has a right to, and therapists may goad her in that direction). In Nigeria, she will learn respect, appreciate hard work, and realize that she has a privilege she should not take for granted. After 3 years, her head will be a little less bloated, she will have some good cultural values. I think that's better than giving the girl a strike in the American system and labelling her a criminal. |
Supreme01:Because I pay tithes, and don't see them being used positively; therefore I can wail when the pastors we give tithes to buy fancy shoes and jets instead. I also pay tax, and don't see them being used positively. |
Fitz22:Pastors do not have a reputation of helping those in need, but instead of collecting offerings from those who can least afford it and using the funds for fancy outfits, cars, jets and other trappings of wealth. Once in a while you'll hear of some widow or other receiving a few thousand Naira, but you can be sure it happens once or twice in a pastor's lifetime. Oh, and over the next few months, that money is extracted back from the widow in the form of offerings, first fruits, sowing seeds, testimony, and the rest of that lengthy list of dubious money scamming names. |
wisdomkid:Why bring Imams and judging into it? We should be able to say our pastors are not doing what their Lord has asked them to do: share wealth with, and assist the poor and needy. |
JasonScoolari: Supreme01:That's a very good point. Not a single one. And they are supposed to be doing "the Lord's work". I don't think JasonScoolari collects offerings from a zombie audience in the namne, then uses it to furnish his expensive lifestyle. However we would think that pastors would be at the forefront of using donated funds for good works, but ironically, they are nowhere to be found when help is needed. And a further irony, the man that is a thorn in the flesh of pastors, is seen here doing more good than they ever have. |
BillgatesMaigad:Well, I accept that it's politics... he should not come and preach anticorruption, since he has time and again shown that he can forgo his ideals to further his desires. I now realize PMB: "I'm not a thief but I hang around thieves so long as they can help me get what I want". "I won't steal, but if you use stolen funds to help me, I will look the other way, otherwise I will prosecute you." It's OK. Mr Integrity has lost every shred of integrity in our eyes. |
BillgatesMaigad:Bros... immunity does not mean you should also hold his hand and endorse Ganduje for another term. So if they both get re-elected, EFCC under Buhari would never get a chance to prosecute him? So Buhari can use the excuse of immunity to avoid jailing his brother abi? Buhari doesn't like corruption and looters, yet he encourages the people of Kano to re-elect one? What kind of hypocrisy is that? If he really wanted to crack down, he should discourage their re-election so he can prosecute them in his second term. With all the evidence of him looking the other way for multiple crimes committed (so far as you have the broom in your hands), one can see that PMB is only looking after his own re-election, please don't be fooled. And after being re-elected, he's going to go on much needed vacation to London for the rest of 2019. You can count on it. |
Mr "I will"... the past four years nko? All I saw was: "if u come to my party, all your sins are forgiven". |
Larryndelaw:Do you know how many banks got strengthened during PDP years and how that industry has really boomed and is taking over Africa? Take a look at Google maps over places like Abuja, Ogun, Lagos... (look with google, then compare with Bing, which uses older snaps): there are railways, terminals, factories, buildings, and entire islands that were made during PDP's time. These happened because of good economic policies, forward thinking, and investor confidence. All the airport rehabilitations. Do you remember how bad MMA was? It was filled with touts and marabouts like a local bus stop. Remember when Nigerian flights were banned from direct entry into the US? You think ease-of-travel is done by magic? Do you know how you can send money to people using your phone? BVN? Data networks that allow you to snap and upload and watch youtube? Do you know we no longer import cement? Do you know we actually have good quality tissue paper and soap? How about the fact that the chances of buying and ingesting fake drugs has been drastically reduced? Lagos to Delta used to be an absolute nightmare... it's not perfect but by the time PDP was voted out, it had become a smooth express experience. Same with traveling to Lokoja, or Lagos to Ibadan, on to Ilorin, and so many places. Electricity is lagging, yes, but we have increase from 120 million to 190 million people in that time?. So if the electricity situation is the same, but it's serving an additional 70 million more people, plus all the businesses, you can't say capacity hasn't grown. If you have more people using electricity, but service has not degraded (not that it was good to start), something else had to increase to maintain that level of service. Do you remember how Ebola was handled? GEJ's administration was something to be proud of. Aren't all these things infrastructure? Yes, we're not where we want to be, but you'd have to be really unkind to dismiss all these improvements. Many businesses failed, yes, and many more succeeded. Did you also know that we've had more bankruptcies, failures, suicides, terrorism, rampant drug abuse, etc. since 2015? As I always say: PDP and APC are actually all the same, there's no ideological difference. But if you ask me, PMB is stuck in 1983 corruption fight with shadows and doesn't realize that the best cure for corruption is an expanded, diversified economy where politics won't attract thieves; where revenues come from many different sources, not just oil; where opportunities abound for youths. It involves heavy investment in education; it requires saying good things about your country to other people (and not insulting us at every turn). It involves treating people fairly without prejudice, being inclusive, and punishing wrongdoers no matter their party affiliation or state of origin. How I wish APC had rejected PMB's candidacy and instead went with Osinbajo. Nobody's perfect, but he has demonstrated several times, he had what it takes to lead Nigeria, bring us together, and make the country great. I wish Atiku was not the alternative solution, but PMB is the worst candidate of all of them in this year's election, in my opinion. |
dguyindcorner:I'd rather you vote for Sowore or Durotoye, but I'll give you several in favor of Atiku: 1. 1984 was the only time in my life I had to queue as a young boy for essential food supplies, because of Buhari's policies. So when things got hard in 2015 and 2016, I wondered if we were going to reach that stage again. I'd vote for a different person from the guy who has, TWICE, visited hardship upon his country. The excuse of "we entered recession both times" is too convenient, and if you're superstitious, shows PMB is bad luck. 2. Obasanjo and Atiku (and the two successor PDP presidents) expanded the economy from 160 Billion in 1999, to 1089 Billion USD in 2015, just over 15 years. Let me reiterate: under the same people being abused today, they increased the size of our economy nearly 7 fold in 15 years. Not doubled, 7x. They met no jobs, no mobile network, little internet, banking that did not reach most people, no democracy or free speech. Conversely Buhari's years have been marked by contraction. 3. I don't need anybody to tell me that 1999-2015 have been some of the best years of Nigeria in recent memory (I was not around during the boom years of 1970s). From 1999, things were happening, places were popping, opportunities were growing, startups were proliferating, and job numbers were growing. There was a growing sense of hope, pride, and self-actualization in Nigerians that had been hampered since 1983. We were on the verge of becoming the #19 largest economy (from around #65in 1999), in just 15 years (I'm one of the editors on the wiki for Nigeria's economy). We had just stopped importing cement (and will soon stop importing petrol), thanks NOT to Buhari, but to hardworking Nigerians. Again, our GDP (PPP) rocketed from about 160 Billion in 1999 to 1089 Billion in 2015, where it has mostly stagnated since then. Imagine how much we must have grown in comparison to other countries in just 15 years. With that momentum being one of the top 10 economies in 15 years was within sight. However we've already fallen to #23 during Buhari's time and will likely fall to #30 or worse if we give him another 4 years. 4. Atiku has energy, health, connections to the national and international business communities, and a proven track record of running successful companies... things we need to move the country forward. Buhari has a track record of disobeying orders, removing his boss via coup, autocracy, insensitivity, lack of vision for the big picture... and finally, incompetence at managing complex economies. He's likely to spend a significant portion of a second term abroad for health reasons... is it from hospital bed or London he will be doing his one-sided fight against corruption? Please, vote for somebody who will expand the economy so that officials don't have to steal. |
chloride6:My thoughts exactly... ![]() |
Let me call my fried to help carry Baba's load back to Daura... One more week! |
jeffizy:Nah bro... when wrong in Rivers is arrested, but wrong in Kano is ignored... you have to raise your voice. |
American and British military officers are worthy of admiration and VIP treatment... I can't say the same for Nigeria military officers though... They ruined this country, brutally beat up civilians at any goddamn chance, and are always arrogant and overbearing. Let them earn our respect first |
OneCorner:No be joke? Elenu also told a simple joke and roasted him, and we're laughing. ![]() |
Forreellinc:Before nko? Public universities have a whole federal government behind them that's supposed to be doing the needful. Private universities are built with private funds... |
OK, Mr Kanu... Igbo's don't vote. Then what? Buhari will get relected. Then what? Our region will be ignored by mr. 5%, again. You'll visit us again, con some people, make some noise, take some money, then run away again? Abeg... go siddon |
We're here debating APC vs PDP, when they are all the same set of greedy carpet-crossing politheifcians. This need not cost as much as it has, or taken as much time, with substandard throwaway coaches from early 1990s. |
Bullsh!t. And so what? We're not looking for more states because it just means yet another greedy set of governors, senators, and representatives will be sharing money. Please keep your "strong plans", have a seat, and start packing your things in preparation for moving out. Mtcheww! |
sogodihno:Personally, I think the rhetoric of "anti-corruption" is just that - empty rhetoric, given how selective his administration has been in pursuing opposition and forgiving carpet crossers. We've actually gotten worse on the corruption index in the last 3 years (or am I mistaken?) On every other measure: economic growth, peace, fairness, future-minded, progressive, enabler, etc... Buhari has been a failure. His re-election will make these last 4 years seem like a joke. It's not wise for people to ignore the signs and stubbornly choose a candidate that will only get worse after elections: - he's stumbled several times and will not likely stand up to the physical rigors of the next 4 years, - he's not in the best of health and will likely be more absent - he's not demonstrating mental capacity to tackle the issues at hand - and he does not even have an ounce of care for Nigerians. To him, Katsina and Niger Republic are his countrymen. In fact, I wish the border came down another 5 kilometers so Daura would have been in Niger, and we would have been saved from this selfish, holier-than-thou know-it-all who thinks Nigerians are garbage. When Fela said he'd never heard a government abuse its own people, I was confused, till I realized that this man hates the historical accident that put him in Nigeria, and he's never thought of himself as Nigerian. It all made sense after I saw how close Daura was to the border, why he would have more affinity for Niger than for Kano. How will he hold extensive meetings, when he has a hard time reading his notes? How can he travel to meet foreign leaders and businesses to further our interests abroad when he doesn't have the energy? Will he just go and spend 2 years abroad, with deteriorating health, leading to a leadership crisis like the time of Yaradua. How will he go to disaster sites and help the healing process? (oh, I forgot, unlike Osinbajo, Buhari has never mingled with the common folks) There are people who would be happy to make decisions for him, preying on his conditions, and enriching themselves at the expense of the country. The only silver lining is if he passes during his term - like Yaradua did - we would have a competent Osinbajo at the helm. I don't wish the man evil, so he should just be defeated. We have some viable choices in Atiku, Sowore, Durotoye, let's not throw our country into the dustbin because of some illusion of anti-corruption |
Teejayphillip:Like the poster said, it would be forgiven had it not been part of a larger pattern of gaffes, the type associated with the onset (or progress) of dementia or some other mental degradation. Instead of abusing him, just vote in people who are ready and able to lead this country effectively. And I don't mean Atiku |
Congratulations sir, for taking a trip thousands of Nigerians living abroad do daily. Do you know how many flights enter Nigeria daily via Lagos, Abuja, PH, Kano, etc.? With each plane carrying anywhere from 100-300 Nigerians? Taking as if na only you waka come. Coming all the way to vote for the person who keeps you away by ruining our beloved country? See madness. Anyways, wish you luck... praying that your village people, awon boyz, crazy drivers, trigger-happy police, and other shady characters won't cross your path. So you can come and waste your vote on the guy who can't remember he's the presidential candidate. I know that IF - and it shan't come to pass - but if PMB wins, he's automatically on 2-year break to London. Sure banker. |
