Christianity Etc › Re: Dunamis Church 'Fake Testimony': Anyim Vera Deserves An Apology by NoToPile:
AAAA67:
A graduate in law should know what her degree is after spending five years in the University.
Has nothing to do with the institution - NOUN , which some people have their reservations about.
She brought the embarrassment upon herself.
I don't blame Pastor ENECHE on this.
She should apologize for giving wrong testimony and should correct herself.
What is wrong about the testimony, correct herself how, when she tried saying LLB she was cut off, did you watch the video? she claimed she graduated with a law degree which she did, she didn't lie. You can question her inability to remember the LLB stuff or how she graduated, her intelligence or whatever but not the fact that she graduated with a law degree from NOUN

There's nothing wrong about the testimony, it is wrong if she lied she didn't lie.
Christianity Etc › Re: Dunamis Church 'Fake Testimony': Anyim Vera Deserves An Apology by NoToPile:
Saw this matter on FB and how she truly graduated from noun. Now that her name is on the list who is to blame, she that made a mistake or the person that hurriedly shut her off and accused her of lying.

Maybe stage fright, confused or whatever and said the wrong thing , but then these days that some graduates don't even know what BSc is I can't be surprised she made that mistake.

she tried correcting herself though if you watched the video but she was cut off by the pastor.

Many people even some graduates generally can't speak English coherently, maybe she shouldn't be judged for that.

That was a terrible embarrassment given to her by the church. Because she's accused of being a liar while she's not and that's very terrible.

The truth is always constant no matter what.

The most painful part now is that those that always want to drag christainity and pastors will milk this incident to the last. Church this pastor that bleh bleh. angry

Christianity Etc › Re: Dangerous Attitudes Amongst Nigerian Churches In The Diaspora by NoToPile: 4:06pm On Apr 14, 2024
Handling toddlers can be a handful and it's always easier to criticize another as a bad parent until you enter that same shoe.

Here in Naija there are children's section, teenagers section etc. some churches even break the children's section down further according to age. Methods of teaching children is different, they sing christain songs, read Bible out loud a whole lot of christain activities in church

Nursing mothers have a place they stay too sometimes at the back of the church, in some churches it's another section entirely but what is happening in the main church is transmitted to them on TV. You can't determine when a baby cries.

All is to minimize distractions from the children.

So maybe the church attended abroad doesn't have a children's section, because most churches have here.

Though I must say some parents are actually slacking in bringing their children up in the way of God, that's another topic entirely.

The girl is pained.

Is it easy to gather 68k this economy, and that Lady recording her is evil, making jest of her. Merely reading the comments no sympathy.

When did it become a crime to buy a used item from a market, if not for the terrible fellow country men we have, if they don't sell defective phone or fufu, it's stolen phone that will land you in police trouble.

She's just simply ignorant of their vices at computer village. Is it a crime to want to buy an older version of phone that she can afford, which new Android will she even get for 68k sef.
Romance › Re: For Men, Can You Marry A Lady With This Ideology? by NoToPile: 4:41pm On Apr 11, 2024
pansophist:
Men just don't like when a woman reminds them of the rules.

It's more about her delivery, not necessarily what she is saying. Some egos have been bruised, hence the pandemonium.

But she is right. That's the point of marriage. A man must be able to provide and protect his family, including his wife That's also where your pride as a man will come from.

Although men of this generation have narrowed the definition of wifey duties to financial only. So if she is not bringing money, then she is not an asset. That's very wrong.

Events › Re: My Dead Friend's Funeral Is Causing Problems by NoToPile: 6:48am On Apr 10, 2024
He is young he is an oku-ofo, where I come from culturally even an obituary is not meant to be printed for 40years below. He's even unmarried, no wife no child it makes it worse in Yoruba culture. Everything should be done quietly, Its elderly people Yorubas will throw parties for.

Now he is from the north again, burials are always solemn there, there's a woman from Bauchi in our church, she always can't wrap her head around it when she sees the feferity done even for very old members burial. The northern culture doesn't generally support partying at burials and the fact that he's young makes it worse.

It depends on where the OP and majority of his friends are from, they might not see anything wrong in it because of their cultural orientation some cultures go as far as printing posters for little children, holding elaborate programme's...... I personally cringe when I see such events because of my cultural orientation.

Now I don't see the need for the dragging of the family, wishes of family members must always be respected always, let them mourn their son how they deem fit.

I also don't understand why the OP is not listening to what the majority are telling him.
Family › Re: I Don't Care Neighbours by NoToPile:
I saw the FB posts too, the one that got to me among the posts was the pregnant lady who crawled to the stairs screaming for help who ended up dying as a result of those kind of neighbour's who heared a shout but didn't respond and people said that's how it is in Abuja.

I don't understand the one of not greeting or not replying greeting. How will you not greet your neighbor?

I have my new neighbors number she has mine.
Her hubby is in Obodo so we don't have his number he came home briefly once and personally came to greet my husband when he saw him in the compound.
she doesn't have my husband's number too.

The 2 females do the communication on compound issues mainly security and cleaning fee.

We jammed on Sunday as I was driving out to church, She was out of the gate first I just casually looked up saw their door was open via the verandah, though the door to stairs was locked, still shouted her name from far and she sent her son to lock it up thanking me.

It would be wickedness to see and ignore it.

We don't say much except hello hi, happy Easter, happy new year to your family etc if we jam on our way out and she transferring to my account for utilities.

The gate has jam key, so we hardly have any gate issues we have minimal contact but there's empathy abeg at least I am sure of mine.

We all mind our business but I can't see something bad and ignore. I can't hear her kids screaming for help and ignore it.

On the issue of gate opening, fear of thieves make a lot of neighbors not to respond to those kind of night knockings. In this Lagos you can't respond to knocks anyhow especially at night the more reason why everyone has their keys to jam locks and visitors call their hosts to open up for them. Even during the day sef anything can happen.

You say he wants to show off his house that sounds like an insult.

You also say his house is far from your state, normally the husband's family travel to the brides place for the marriage if it's far. Are you just aware of the distance?

The brides family determine where they want to do their wedding where I come from as they are the one giving out their daughter.

The neighbor should have just reported to the landlord, or even the community association or maybe the police if the smell of the pond was disturbing him.

Pouring sniper is not a solution. There's a trait of wickedness in that action.

That said some stuffs are not fit to be reared in a shared compound, they smell like shit. Even people in neighboring compounds will complain. But some are never considerate of others. That's why all these things are now inside tenancy agreement no dog, fowl whatever...

Maryam1234:
My emphasis was on (normal birth)

Besides my narration is from my personal experience and I'm entitled to my opinion...

Every woman live and grew up in different society, our body and the ease with which everyone bear pain differ.

I grow up in a society where we don't see child bearing as death sentence and hence our women are always prepared for that before hand....

Whenever I'm in labour I always tell myself it's for sometimes and truly it's for sometime...

Before giving birth in my society we have a ritual of taking some natural fruits, regular ones found everywhere which makes the birthing process easier...

I'm sorry if my post belittle women From your society or you in particular but all what I have written are nothing but my own opinion and experience

And after the baby is out via "natural birth" women in my society regardless of any tribe they represent in Nigeria are back to Life......

Compliments of the season 🤗
Care to share the fruits and how it's used?

Thanks.

I don't have an issue with the video, I guess she was strong enough. Even if she was she still deserves to rest.

What I have a problem with is the nasty comments on this thread by Nairaland boys.

Even for the same woman every pregnancy is different. Had a 4th degree tear in my first, had a very painful stitching while I had a very easy and short delivery with my 2nd.

Recovery was very different in both cases

So those yapping nonsense should stop abeg. angry

The problem I identified is that they want to be seen as cool Christians. Inadvertently seeking validation from unbelievers. Which shouldn't be the case. I remember telling you how a post addressing the indecent dressing of Christian ladies is always faced with attacks of "allow us dress how we want".
Direct same post to Muslim ladies and all they would ask for is Allah's guidance and grace to be steadfast.

The standard is dropping...
It's so pathetic. You correct they say you are judging, even right inside the church. It's now so terrible you cannot see decent wedding clothes, especially the traditional ones, it's like there's a boobing competition, the clothe will flow to the ground but all the damn bre.asts are showing

The funniest part is everybody knows what is decent, but let them continue deceiving themselves.

Is it wrong to ask people to wear better clothes?

As for portable he is doing well with his diss song, na real from brotherhood to sisterhood.

It's crazy to know that he hasn't seen his kids since she left him like 15 years ago.
This story reiterates the point that sometimes, people generally might not listen to counsel, I would have thought after Dr Olukoyas stern counsel to the woman an improvement should have been made considering that she would have respected his opinion as a man of God.

I also appreciate the fact that he's talking about it plenty years later and resisted the temptation to shalaye via press conference then, for that marriage to break down it was something because they were the couple going about with keys for singles very late 90s to early/mid 2000s so the divorce itself would have caused a lot of shake up in his church. That couple made waves back then via books and programme's in campuses before this SM era.

I was so shocked In January when I first saw the video I had to watch the interview, I watched the 2 part video to know what really happened.

I am an anti-Divorce advocate as a christain but there are lot of things to be learnt from his story for both males and females especially the christains.

Until I watched this interview sometimes in January this year, I thought he was still married to Ify. I never even knew they got divorced. I still remember the lady's picture on billboard, fair lady.

If you were conversant with campus programme's some 20years back the name Olumide and Ify Emmanuel will always ring a bell.

The interview was eye opening though. Watched it all.

Seems they do more than 10 subjects from primary 1 or basic 1 in the Nigerian curriculum

It's bulky if you ask me. Phe, CRK, vocation stuff or is it social studies, home econs, basic sciences etc

My child does Yoruba and always sing the aiku aje isegun song I. E days of the week. it's the very basic they are taught - greetings and all that.

When you ask they say it's in the curriculum.

As long as the child is the proper age for the class they should cope.
