funmise007:You want to say Awujale of Ijebuode is under the king of Ijebu igbo? Please be guided. |
Tzar:The bolded is true only if he is a Yearly paying tenant, and if there's no other clause on the tenancy agreement signed. if he's a tenant at will he's entitled to only 7 days to vacate, lots of landlords overlook this because of empathy and how the economy is. How many people even pay their rent as at when due sef. Most times I don't blame landlords who use the law to their advantage, If every landlord in Lagos uses the court on all tenants whose rent are due and have not paid what do you think will happen. |
Lightorder:Give yours Na, Shuu una too like wahlaha for this Nairaland. I gave my own advice give yours. |
CoolAmbience:Oya say your own you wey get wetin you Wan talk. Some had advised him in his initial thread when the quit notice was served that diplomacy is key when dealing with this kind of landlord, my advice back then was for him to beg him. I have given my own advice on this thread, give yours. |

Eyah sorry but you were advised to go and beg the landlord that time. And I remember some also mentioned that the landlord writes/sounds like someone who no send that he can go gangster on you. Well he has done that now and has gone to the police to inform them of the repair which we all know it's just to get you out of the house. Nothing you can do but to look for a place to put your stuffs and thankfully the rains are not here yet. I wish you the best, may you get another job soonest. |
jeff1607:Why if I may ask? You know there are factors that might not make this possible. 1. Age of graduation 2. Years hunting for job 3. You now manage to get one five years after graduation 4. You get married 2 years after you get the job 5. You now expect the woman to place child bearing on hold first for the career when she might want to have all her kids before 35- 40. I am just trying to let you see our Nigerian system that's all. |
nahzyla:It is just what it is, you need to work harder as a working class woman. That creche own is even obvious, during covid lockdown lots mothers noticed their children didn't come down with cold or cattarh at all. No temperature nothing for the 6months school was off. Immediately schools resumed the story changed. I must give it to Lagos State though, Lagos govt workers have 6 months maternity leave for the 1st 2 children you have after employment, then all others are 3 months. All allowances fully paid. |
pocohantas:You get the drift. It's not really easy for a lot of women. Na manage lots dey manage. |
PrimadonnaO:You are right and a lot of times these factors are out of the woman's control. |
It's not surprising people are saying 'don't we have maternity leave'. Maternity leave doesn't cover everything, it's just a fragment. One knows those who have raised children or helped/ seen people raise children will understand. Right from the day you get pregnant till that child clocks one, you are practically a nursing mother. For two whole years you might be going to work but your career may be on hold if you don't have a good support system. There are some small small opportunities that might pass you by as a pregnant woman in the office, which ordinarily you would get if you were not pregnant. You take days off for antenatal After your maternity leave, you take days off for hospital visits immunizations blablabla, unscheduled hospital visits, days of not sleeping overnight, days of unscheduled hospital visits These are the factors some why some organizations don't like employing pregnant women. It's always better if you have a job you can control your movement as a mother of young children. But you see those leave home 5am come back 9pm spend four hours in traffic jobs for a pregnant /nursing mother, e get as e dey be. |
gentlekay2017:Do the little you can, it is well. So he's still paying 100k and you that droped 250k too don't know the hole that 250k made in your pocket abi. does he think it was easy for you to drop that money or it wouldn't have met some needs in your own nuclear family? |
AkProsper:Nawa ooo, 3 children just like that. Chai oo |
There's something wrong with our younger generation, most don't understand how to sacrifice, Someone sacrificed for you to be where you are and you can't do that for your younger one, despite knowing the individual has tried his or her best. Call all of them for a meeting and handover the remaining two to the elderly two working that you hand over the baton to them, you have served them to a point they can stand on their own, they should also lift their siblings up. Shikena. Don't expect to receive any favors from them, children that can't sacrifice to pay fees of their younger ones won't remember the person that was there for them. You no get wife and children ni? Extended family matter e get as e dey be. |
Technically you and the girl are not related(at least not by blood), The daughter to your Uncles wife brother. Her dad is an inlaw to your uncle. The blood bond is between your dad and your uncle. The other closest bond is between your uncle and his wife ( you can't do anything with their children) For you the bond becomes weaker with your Uncles wife relatives, you are not related to them by blood so it's not incest but it now depends on how close knit the whole family is. The only problem is our Yoruba people might not agree, they will begin to analyse it as I have done and break it down further, family preferences, individual preferences, family politics , factors you never imagined will come into play. Hope you are not sleeping with her yet? |
The doctors know what they look out for, people deliver twins virginaly and surgically, it depends. Now the private hospital, does it have incubator, do they have facilities for phototherapy, blood bank, these are important questions you should look out for even in a normal delivery if non of this is available and finances is an issue, let her register at General hospital Maternal Child centers if she's in Lagos, there are consultants and they will have the facilities needed and it's affordable. Just that it's stressful |
Our parents and aunts will never ever see a grown man as an adult, at the back of their mind you are still that little girl they carried, bathed for. So it's not a big deal. I am even surprised you see it as a problem OP. The old people will share what they have, I have been given 2 pieces of gala before by an elderly person, we went to greet him and he shared gala plus tfare to all of us he was an elderly inlaw. We collected with joy. Op there's some pride in your post, and you feel demeaned by the amount she gave you, if she gave you 50k you won't feel this way, its not healthy to have this type of mentality. |
My house is beside a church, the services is not even the issue we bear it since it's for a while. It's the HQ of a church (about 4 branches) so their kitchen area is by the fence, 2 of our bedrooms are on that side of the house so we hear everything happening and any little thing , these people will be shouting midnight making noise with their ikoko irin, turning stick and all that, they are always cooking one thing one that, very ceremonious people. Every pim is heared in those 2 rooms. Midnight Cooking every other day one thing or the other with plenty noise and I will just be hissing in my mind. They hold their convention every November and it's a horrible experience, last year it's like the sound system was reduced a bit. During the lockdowm we rested and my babies slept peacefully. Sometimes I wonder if churches know how much their inconvenience others, and then lots of churches feel they need to put an external speaker Howcome we Christians that are not meant to inconvenient others do so. I am not a fan of Jehovah witness doctrines but Chai, no external speakers or unnecessarily increase of volume. Most churches feel if the whole street is not hearing everything happening in the church it's not okay. Must you increase the volume, even if it's not sound proof if it's in a reasonable level it won't disturb, the neighbors might just be hearing a little but iro ooo they must shut down the neighbors with volume. What some don't know is some of this act can even hinder prayers being answered. And they can't take half of what they dish out, the G. Os wife once complained that the aluminum roof edge of our house peeled and when breeze blows it makes a creaking sound, she came to tell us it was disturbing her from sleeping that it's just something they will nail, My husband said he will inform the landlord abroad because it seems to be a major issue and we can't tamper with his roof without informing him and once you tamper it can lead to more damage it. I was actually livid,, next thing they brought ladder that they want to do it. Kiloshe awon people yi, you want to tamper with the roof of another man's house, my husband no open gate for them to enter ( they were shocked) he said he's sorry he will have to call the landlord firsr( they are friends with landlord) we called agent that one called landlord, landlord said they should do it, they used nail to nail it the next week that portion pulled off and rain could actually enter the upper floor luckily it was vacant. Lastlast a major aluminum repair work had to be done by landlord. I was like ordinary creaking sound you guys can't bear, do you know what we pass through, we are used to it now sha. One advantage is you get to listen to their programmes |
They have warned us severally to stop buying the brown pomo that it's treated with chemicals. if you must eat pomo at all cost, there's the white one they sell, directly peeled from the cow, you boil very well and good to go. Ponmo is also attached to some parts of the meat bought too. |
Streetmalam:I know it's painful for you that someone you squeezed out and gave something out of the very little you had to at least help her stand her feet is now ignoring your calls simply because it is assumed it because of the 50k you are calling. Even if she doesn't have the money can't she just say it and stop ignoring your calls. But It's better you are learning this now some learnt the very hard way at the ripe old age. Since she's not picking stop calling, and for the youngest sis dothe little you can do to help her stand on her feet once you are financially balanced. I am not surprised she's not even supporting the girl with small change, it's all about sacrifice, some people don't know what it means, you did it for her, she might not do it for either you or your sister just understand that, she might not be a bad person, shes just not wired for such. I hope you bounce back soon. |
I personally don't like it when a man ties wrapper in the house or wears boxers around the street. Why should everybody see the shape of the kini and it will be dangling abeg its not nice ![]() OP it's just one of those things you remove your eye from. |

18k secondary school teacher in 2013, after I Don Waka the length and breadth of Lagos for a job after NYSC. I sha manage that one it was trekking distance, I was always spending my salary of tfare, job hunting going to the Island for interviews I will spend at least 1k per day and will always be broke at the end of the month. My mum will always say this kain work you are doing, not paying transport fare to and you are always broke before month end this one no be work ooo and 18k was quite reasonable in 2013. The school owner did not now pay August salaries I felt cheated and someone recommended me to another school, they paid 25k then I changed schools left after 2nd term after I got admission for a higher degree ( I had a sponsor) I kuku left the job the job hunting still continued, did some other jobs too then last last after some years, that higher degree I got landed me *the Job* |
achorladey:Shuu sturbbon in life or death situation, it is well. I can't even imagine being in such situation, you need milliseconds to take a decision, a wrong one and it could be death. |
Seems Oyo Ogbomoshor road is very notorious for trailer drivers. It is well. |
Richy4:One can't be too careful, the rate of which people are looking for money nowadays is alarmingly alarming. Issa very painful something, I pray they are found ooo. That first tenant is the key. Chai. |
Richy4:From his explanation I think the landlords children don't stay in the house and you know the way Naija is if anyone had called the children of the landlord and said tenant A had subleted the remaining 2 months left of his rent, the person would be called a snitch, statements like what is his business blablabla. Thats just our reasoning in Naija The landlords children may not even know the original tenant has moved out, he might not even inform them since his rent had not expired. Now the landlord family has entered wahala they don't know of because police will hold them culpable. Everybody in that compound should have called the attention of the landlord children to it, no landlord will allow anyone to sublet his premises at least not without his permission. And everybody just allowed a stranger to come live with them like that. Everybody should be careful and shine their eye, don't ignore any strange person/ movement in your compound or street. I pray those children get back, let an intervention occur and those people should be busted amen. It's not something a parent should pass through, very agonizing. Something similar happened to my cousin some years back, also big compound, a neighbor just brought in a little girl from no where and everybody saw the girl, he would take care of the girl and nobody asked questions, everyone was minding his business, until police people came 5 am in gestapo style arrested all the men in the compound plus baba landlord early momo some were still on the bed. What they didn't know was that the girl was kidnapped and kept there, they were all saying they didn't know anything about it but police told them you saw a strange child and you didnt ask questions. Our family was the one that went to bail my cousins husband. I think they came from alagbon, most of them had to go get treated in the hospital after they came back, it was a horrible experience. This one even happened in the 90s when things have not Spoilt to this level. |
